Dr. Sharma: Pain Management & Outcome Driven Therapies

Today we welcome Dr. Sharma to the podcast and we learn about pain management and the different therapy options out there!

Dr. Avijit Sharma, MD is a double board certified interventional pain specialist and anesthesiologist who has trained at some of the top institutions in the country. Dr. Sharma embraces a carefully curated multidisciplinary approach to treating pain. He works with patients to come up with an individualized plan including interventional procedures, physical therapy, and regenerative medicine. In this way, Dr. Sharma hopes to not only alleviate pain, but restore functional ability as well.  Dr. Sharma was born and raised in Southern California. He completed his undergraduate studies in Biology at California State University Los Angeles. He then went on to study medicine at THE Ohio State University where he earned his Doctor of Medicine and Masters of Public Health degrees. Following medical school, Dr. Sharma completed a residency in Anesthesiology at the prestigious Yale University School of Medicine - New Haven Hospital. It was here that Dr. Sharma realized he wanted to dedicate his career to helping chronic pain patients regain their lives. After residency, he completed an ACGME accredited Pain Medicine fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, an institution affiliated with Harvard Medical School.

Aside from clinical practice, Dr. Sharma is active in medical research and has published in highly regarded peer-reviewed medical journals. He has contributed chapters to pain medicine textbooks and presented his work at several national and international conferences. Dr. Sharma’s passion for research allows him to provide his patients with cutting-edge and innovative therapies. Dr. Sharma is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, American Society of Pain and Neuroscience, Pacific Spine and Pain Society, and North American Neuromodulation Society.  In his spare time, Dr. Sharma likes to stay active by enjoying the outdoors or traveling with his family.  Dr. Sharma looks forward to building new relationships with his patients and partnering with them to help achieve their wellness goals.  Dr. Sharma will be seeing patients at our Glendale and Sun City locations in Arizona.
