At the age of 6 today’s guest moved from Lithuania to the US. To build her confidence, her father enrolled her in Japanese style Jiu Jitsu, TKD, and eventually the sport she fell in love with, BJJ.
As an early teenager, she was considered a BJJ wunderkind and training with legends like JT Torres, Emily Kwok, and Marcelo Garcia. Training with these incredible BJJ practitioners led her to win the woman’s adult blue belt lightweight title at the age of only 14.
By 17 she was a brown belt and at the age of 19, she received her black belt from Marcelo.
Here is RŌL Radio with 5 time World Champion, 4 time Pan American Champion, instructor, artist, and advocate for women’s pay equality in BJJ, Dominyka Obelenyte.
