We understand this idea “to be of service to others and treat them better than ourselves” - but when it’s the person who forgets to take out the garbage, who didn’t fill up the car, who forgot to schedule the kids’ doctor appointment - we don’t always feel like being of service. We want to be frustrated, grouchy, and maybe even a little resentful. But Paul makes it clear in Philippians that we are to treat others better than ourselves - and that includes our spouse.
