Every month, the Rub will bringyou news from the world of

be a quick one.

First up HealWell News.
The HealWell Service Departmentprovided 935 sessions in August
to the DC, maryland, virginiaarea, bringing our total
sessions for the year to 7,224.

Healwell Homecoming isSeptember 20th through 21st.
Friday is Education Day, whereyou can choose classes on
pregnancy or lymphatics in themorning and ethics of solidarity
or fascial research in theafternoon.
On Sunday we'll be having agroup discussion called the

a keynote by Executive DirectorCal Cates and a dance party

State and national news A courtin Texas has thrown out the
Federal Trade Commission's banon non-competes.
Non-compete agreements preventemployees from working for
competing companies.
Non-competes were originallyfor highly paid employees in

order to protect trade secrets,but in recent years they have
expanded into all industries andpay grades, including retail
and food service.
The ban was originally set totake effect on September 4th,
but has been halted.
Judge Ada Brown, who made thedecision, stated that the
Federal Trade Commission doesnot have the power to create
such a ban.
Instead, that power lies withCongress.

non-competes.
California, north Dakota andOklahoma have all banned
non-competes previously, andMinnesota passed a ban last year

Also, in 33 states,non-competes are restricted for
lower-income workers orindustries such as health care.
If you are a massage therapistworking under a non-compete, you

should check your state's lawsto see what kind of restrictions
might be.
In effect, the Harris-Waltzcampaign has announced a plan to
support small businesses ifthey win the presidential
election in November.
The plan includes increasingthe amount of deductions allowed
in the first year of smallbusinesses from $5,000 to
$50,000 and making low or nointerest loans available.
It also proposes creating waysto expand the Affordable Care

Act for small businesses andworking to streamline government
processes to make things likefiling taxes simpler.
Our next segment is news fromthe Massage Therapy National
Associations.
The Massage TherapyFoundation's Executive Director,
virginia Olson, known as Ginny,is departing after 26 years of
service.

Ginny Olson was involved in thecreation of the International
Journal of Therapeutic Massageand Bodywork, or IJTMB, which is
the Foundation's open-accessacademic journal.
She also helped create theInternational Massage Therapy
Research Conference andMassageNet, the public-based
research network that connectspracticing massage therapists
with researchers.
The Massage Therapy Foundationhas not yet announced a new

executive director.
The Massage Therapy Foundationis also recruiting for the
second phase of the MassageTherapy Ergonomic Study.
The second phase involveshaving practicing massage
therapists wearing sensorsduring sessions.
