(00:00):
Hello, ladies and gentlemen, Welcometo the Rundown episode. I think this
is number one sixteen. There's something. I believe it's either sixteen or seventeen.
Yeah. Uh, we've been doingthis for a bit. Uh oh
shit, Yeah, yeah, we'vebeen We've been on it, We've been
on it. I'm Evan from HighMedia TV, joined by Brian nod to

(00:23):
Ortegat, my brother, and Chris. I need you to fucking change after
this episode. You and I aregoing into your YouTube channel and we're changing
your fucking YouTube at to something thatisn't a position. That is the isit't
longest shit with numbers at the end, that's not even the YouTube one AnyWho.
But uh, we have a lotof stuff to go over today,

(00:45):
mostly because over the last week, like every game company is dropping their load
and so there's lots of new gamesthat are coming out, some of which
we know that we're coming. Isaw a new Doom from its software coming
out as a spoiler, and Iwas I've did anything, but I just
saw If I was you, Iwas so excited. Did you see him

(01:07):
with the cave? I did?I didn't. I didn't didn't. I
didn't see ship. But but Juneitself is itself a large day for like,
this month for gaming is goofy. It's goofy for me. Like,
so it's crazy. October. Oh, I won't, I won't spoil anything,
but October October this year is gonnabe the fucking month, the month

(01:27):
of game. Well, I mean, it's called Broketoba for a reason.
But June this year has been goofy. Junius year has been particularly goofy because
on the third, what what dayis? It's the twelfth? It's the
twelfth today? Yeah, yeah, imagine that. Yeah, And here's the
thing. The third gold Road cameout, gold Rope being the new expansion

(01:49):
for the Eldest Sols online where you'rewhere you are having to fight against a
new danger Prince. That's the fuckingstory. It's it's crazy. The you
also get, don't you get?Fucking Alden Ring in a few days,
Eldon Rings on the twenty first,I have a lie I'm a live stream
at noon. I have a livestream at noon. Ready to fucking go

(02:13):
for that, like I'm i'm,I'm i am. I'm going to be
playing that all fucking day like andI and it's going to kill me to
take a break for twenty four hoursuntil until the twenty third, because the
twenty second is my girlfriend's graduation party, So I will be stopping elden Ring
and I will be going to goplay with you with her and spend time
with her because it is her dayto celebrate. And also it's going to

(02:34):
be a way for all the relativesto get his money so we can live.
And that's good show. Ay fuckingmen, Like she like I love
Meadow more than I love elder Ring. That's an easy thing to say.
But you know what comes out today? What a new area and expansion and
followed seventy six so it's like I'mjust going, going going, It's like

(02:54):
it's just crazy. June's a hugemonth for me. I haven't like I
hadn't had a chance to sit downand just binge gold Rode yet, like
I I you know so and todayI'm probably know what is that. It's
an expansion for the older scrolls online. It is the it is the skin
grad area of Sira Delle and it'sconnecting both Deal and the uh location of

(03:21):
the called the Gold Coast, sothat so that there's a huge swath in
the map that has been added, and this is a giant fucking expansion.
And they also added, uh thea built something called scribbing, which is
quite literally making your own abilities, which they haven't added, which hasn't been
in any Elder Strolls game since Oblivion. So this and this isn't an MMO,

(03:43):
so it's like, how the fuckthey balance this is? I have
no idea, but it's book andI love it. I love it.
I love it. You should alsopull out the Xbox trailers just alongside this
video in case we don't get thefull trailers in this video. Well that's
what I will, That's what IOh my god, fucking squeaking now,
but that's what I originally had pulledup. It was the entirety of trailers.

(04:08):
Okay, my flauto. I justdidn't want to react to the full
conference. But then oh no,no, no, this is just no,
it's just the back to back trailers. It's just it's just the back
to back trailers. What ladies andgentlemen a couple of their housing of clean
house nuts. Because it's going tobe a long ass episode and we're gonna

(04:29):
be talking about just games for therest of the time. A jury has
just found the uh Shaquina Banana companyguilty for funding death squads in Colombia and
are forcing them to pay reparations tothe families of those those death squads have
killed. These death squads operated fromnineteen ninety seven, the year of my
birth, until two thousand and four. And uh this is this, this

(04:53):
legal ruling could possibly open up moreconsequences for American corporations committing crimes against humanity
all across the This is very verydid we fucking love that? We love
that? I TikTok live streams arehell and I hate it and I as
much and as much as I blockand say not interested to every fucking live

(05:13):
stream. The gaming live streams arefine. Gaming live streams are fine.
Come watch me play games on TikTokwatch other people play games on TikTok.
A zeem is very good. Plentyof legs, plenty of funny egirls playing
Stargug Valley like all of that's perfectlyfine. The issue I'm having is that
sad ass man children are still havingman versus Bear debates a month and a
half after that discord has died.So please touch grass epathetic children I beg.

(05:35):
I beg. I'm not even gonnaask what that is. I don't
want to know. I don't wantto know. I have a I'll send
you a video I made. Ido a series on my YouTube channel called
the TF They Doing over There, which is I just here's some things going
on on the parts of the Internetyou might not be aware of. And
I and I covered that in oneof those episodes. So, uh,

(05:57):
real quick before we get into newgames that I just want to focus on
the uh. I don't really likethe Valves situation going on with TF two
men, not that I personally playit. I'm not claiming that ideal.
It's a fuck situation though. They'rejust milking it dry with the whales and
the bot situation is insane. Theyrefuse to acknowledge it. I understand why,

(06:18):
But at the same time, they'resuch a great company. You're always
just making a big dumb decision, you know. So, if I'm correct,
it's because of Valves neglect of eF two. Yeah. Uh,
the bots in it has gotten really, really bad in non private servers.

(06:39):
The I played last year, Iplayed it again last year for the first
time or a lot on play.Yeah, and it's even worse now there
is literally release things you could modand download into the game where you now
have bots that will kill the botsso you could actually play the game.
Because it's gotten that fucking bad,and Valve is just refusing to acknowledge it

(07:01):
because they're going to release like theirnew standard free to play the game.
And I understand the situation. Butfor TF two, for as long as
it's been out, y'all should atleast try. That's all I'm saying,
not that it will make a difference. Ellie fres Alone, Trisan Barian and

(07:24):
uh will land this. Our friendsfrom Choir as a collective have I think
probably twenty thousand hours all together inTF two. I believe that that that
that was their games and they theyT two was definitely a game heyday,

(07:46):
and we respect it, but mybad she changed me. But functionally,
at the end of the day,I I is TF t a pillar of

(08:09):
PC gaming history? Yes? DoesTF two? Does val have a responsibility
to maintain it? At nauseum?I would like to see, would I
would I wouldn't say they have anobligation to I would say I would be
good of them to do it.They are literally making handover fists in terms
of money. The amount of manhours and time that it would spend and

(08:31):
maintain the ship would be negagable. So I just it's I understand it.
It is something that they probably havemoved past in terms of like development,
but I I I don't. Ijust wish that they would try and beat
the net code up to up tosomething. But you know, even then,
like Pirate Software or from Pirate Software, you know has gone into detail

(08:54):
about all of the time and effortis required once you have a multiplayer game
like Time, it takes a cheatingbody something that you know, I understand
it's a lot of labor, andI understand that think that something like that
is probably more that that that effortis probably more suited to you know,
counter Strike two that they did workon some of that. But but here's

(09:18):
the thing with the company like that, I just don't understand why they don't
contract fans to just help with theinfrastructure of the game. You have plenty
of people who are dedicated to theproduct, they have tons of money that
they're making hands of a hand handoverfist, and if the development time slash

(09:39):
the capital on labor is too highfor Valve for whatever reason they stretched.
But I'm just making I'm just makingthe you know, Devil's advocate argument.
Then just contract people in the communityto help with the game. Make it
official. Boom, it's an officialpatch that you don't have to worry about

(10:00):
it anymore. I think ultimately,I think ultimately, I think Valve,
Game Nole, and and a lotof the folks at Valve view themselves to
a certain level as the stewards ofI mean, they don't may not view
themselves that, but I think mostpeople view them as the stewards of PC

(10:20):
gaming, and a lot of theactions that they take line up with that.
They they're they're the hardware, takingthe loss on hardware to make the
Steam deck and making Linux a viabledeveloped platform to be developed for by having
a standard OS and hardware configuration fordevelopers to build for. And even if

(10:43):
they don't want to build for itdirectly, they have the photon Rapper that
will make it. So most gamesjust automatically work on Linux because Valve,
like Valve seems for it into likebasically builds a file architecture to make it

(11:03):
think it's on Windows, you know, and so they do. They they
they have done tons and tons andtons of stuff to sort of like keep
video games going. I understand thatthey don't. They still want to make
games now and again by you know, only really like releasing half new They
they only will release new Halfway games, and when there are significant jumps in

(11:26):
terms of like technological advancement, likethere's a reason why half like out sort
of VR game and considered one ofthe best VR games. I may have
it. Really, I think Valveis generally a decent study, and I
think that at this point they kindof view ship like TF two not a

(11:46):
priority. It adds like there's notreally like it's not something that I think
is going to further you know, the acceptance of PC gaming and you know
how that comes with that. Ithink ultimately it's I find it very depressing
in that regard, and there's reallynothing that can be done, you know,

(12:07):
by us. You know, wecan bitch and moan about it,
but at the end of the atthe end of the day, Valve doesn't
even have shareholders, you know, they have Valve is a private company,
So it's it's for me, it'sone of those things of I would I
like t F two to be maintained. Yes do I am I going to
play t F two. Fuck,It's not the type of game I play,

(12:31):
But I do think that it isa robust part of gaming history,
and I think that they if they, if they, I think, I
think I wouldn't be surprised if Valveeventually makes TF two a open source game.
I I think I I think thatI think that that is probably the
most likely thing that will happen,is if people get winded up. But

(12:54):
in the meantime, TF two isstill gonna find it's very say mm hmm,
any other topics you wanted to bringup before we get started on gaming?
Last thing? Fuck, But that'sthe don't fuck with them right now.
I thought the seven dollars bullshit abouttheir game is kind of fucked up
with IM. Not sure if youheard, but they added almost like an

(13:18):
update type thing that they are puttingin Creation Club for Starfield, and it's
just like at the current moment withthe current game, it's not good enough.
And the fact that you could getit for ten dollars Devin bucks for
one like extra mission, I thinkthat's all it is, is like hell
is stupid. Is it is itCreation Club or is it a mod somebody

(13:41):
made being sold. It's Creation Club, It's an official piece of the I'm
gonna be honest with y'all. Iown every piece of Creation Club content for
both Skyrit and Follow four, andI think, just real quick, I
think you agree that like with thecurrent day of Starfield and how it was,

(14:05):
it wasn't even good enough for apre like Fallout four release. I'm
not even saying fall Out seventy sixFallout four release. It wasn't even that
good. Here's the problem I hadin the Starfield and I've talked about this
that nauseum. I've done plenty ofthink pieces on my channel about it.
The ultimate thing is is that theworld is interesting. The concept is interesting,

(14:31):
that the story is interesting. Likethe gameplay, the momentary moom in
combat and questing is fine. Theproblem in the in the custom built locations
that are handcrafted are sublime. Theproblem with Starfield is the fast travel and
in the auto generated worlds. Bethesdadoes hand crafted world as well, not

(14:56):
as well as not perfectly deaths. The games are good for two things.
One, the sandboxibility by virtue ofof like how how the physics work.
How how every item in the gamethat can be picked up, that that
can be put in an inventory hasphysics, and even things that might not

(15:18):
might not as well. And theand the the handcraft. And second is
the hand crafted nature of the world. This, these two things combined,
the the way, the fact thatBethesta games are the only games where almost
every item has its own physics andcan be interacted with, and the and

(15:41):
the and the hand crafted nature ofthese worlds that like with that, these
two things put together are what makeBethesta games the time. Since that they
are they they the the handcrafted.Their storytelling isn't as good as other places,
their world companies are there, Theirworld building isn't a serious goode.
Hell, even their map designed isn'talways as good as Skyrin is a fairly

(16:03):
leaking kind of boring map in hindsightcompared to something like the Wincher. But
yeah, but just to summarize thestory, paying seven dollars for one quest
is stupid when you could pay tendollars for the full game. It's done.
Barfield that has bad bones doesn't deserveit. It has it has bad

(16:25):
bones. If they had I saidthe same thing about Dark Tai when it
first came out. Every time thatthey release fucking new cosmetic things, when
the game was in a shitty state, I said, do not buy it.
It's not a smart decision. It'snot a game that deserves micro transactions.
Yet when I say bad bones, when I say bad Bones, I'm
not talking about the net code, like the net code obviously was bad with

(16:47):
Dark But what I'm talking about isthat the fundamental way that the game is
built, the traveling from point topoint. Traveling from point to point in
Skyrin is not tedious. Traveling frompoint to point and Fallout is not tedious,
whether you were fast traveling or whetheryou are physically walking. You can't

(17:07):
physically walk from point to point inStarfield because walking from point to point is
how you explore the world and getimmersed in it. Because once you unlock
a certain amount of fast travel points, yeah, you can sho go to
point A to point B. Butnot only is the menus in Starfield humbersome
to deal with in terms of tryingto fast travel, you that's your only

(17:29):
way of getting from point A topoint B, and I hate that.
And that is ultimately the biggest reasonwhy you cannot explore the world because the
world is not built in such away where exploring is worthwhile and be you
find new you know things to do, so that ultimately is the big bun.
And I think Starfield, I think, you know, if they want

(17:52):
to put creation co content more inwhich they have done and I've gotten a
couple of pieces of it in Skyrim, fine, If they want to do
that shit in fucking fall Out,fine I'll buy it. I'll give it.
But Starfield, I haven't even finishedStarfield. I probably never flying Ton

(18:14):
finish unless it has a Cyberpunk NoMan's Sky blow up, you know.
But here's the thing. Cyberpunk hadgood bones, it just wasn't done.
No Man's Sky fundamentally shaped significant aspectsof what the game was. Well,

(18:38):
I mean, you play, here'smy honest question. You play fall Out
seventy six. In the beginning,it was not a not only was it
not really playable, it wasn't reallya fun game. The bones were there
in terms of the world and everythinglike that, but not even NPCs were
in the game yet. Do youreally I'm just asking for a fan and

(19:02):
Falloout seventy six now, are youreally telling me that you don't think that
it'll have a blow up like that? No, because because because I don't
really care either way. And Falloutseventy six, right, and follo Out
seventy six you have a and followedseventy six you have it's it called a

(19:29):
world that has because here's the thingin the no NPC's thing is that as
much as a hurt followed seventy six, it also helps it because what followed
seventy six also has is one ofthe best just go out and explore,
read notes and enjoying like like inlike just ambient storytelling. It's so good
because that's all that was there,So that's all they focused on. So

(19:52):
it's some of the most interesting storytellingand Pathestodians, but you don't really see
a whole ton of it because youknow the NPC's and now because Fallout seventy
six was built that way initially, there's tons of ambient storytelling in that game
that you can just go out andfind and just explore, exploring random fucking
locations. There's something there interesting.Right, people we're waiting. I feel

(20:15):
like people just like that type ofgame out of its software because they pull
it off great. I don't feellike they wanted that out of a fallout.
They don't. They don't. Butnow that with Wastelanders and then Steal
update and all the subsequent updates thatcome with it. With that see storyline,
request lines and all that followed seventysix. Yes, it feels like

(20:37):
a fucking MMO high glow like lootsglowing, go pick me up, like
all the courses and shit. That'sfine, But you know, in the
year of our large twenty twenty four, Fallow seventy six has I think four
solid points that make it a goodgame in the which which we're not a

(20:59):
good game. It's a I thinkit's I think it's fun, a fun
game. Is it a good game? Is it a good game that is
in the IVY moder But I thinkof jet I think it is fun.
It has one of the most supportivecommunities, even as the game has gotten
more popular with the general cruxes like, people are so kind and supportive in
this community that Bethesda has wholesale stopssupporting p VP in its entirety because PvP

(21:23):
was just not offer at all.Two. It is a it is as
a new player a rich game thatis going to have tons of content that
of varying levels of intrigue from bothfrom both like storyline and quest lines and
stuff like that, to just beingable to explore that that will be able

(21:45):
satisfied. Three. The camping mechanic, while limiting in certain regards, is
UH and engaging in fun and beingable to just find a spot you like
and then build a camp around thatis is an engaging thing in ways that
I wish I had in Fallout fourand and in four the uh the the

(22:18):
amount of engagements you get from thegame is UH. And and also unlike
Starfield, UH there the game ultimatelyhas solid bugs like it. It's it
not not to not to rush youor anything. I'm just saying back to
the original point of all this tosay, why don't you think that Starfield

(22:45):
will receive the same type of support, because I think ultimately, let me
ask this, do you think itwill not receive the same type of support
or do you think the real thefan reaction not be the same. Here's
the difference. I'm asking real quickbefore you did, it's not it's not

(23:08):
a full tangent, but continue justHe'll be quick I think ultimately the differences
is that they would have to completelyremake Starfied to be able to make it
important, because the entirety of Starfieldis built around traveling to these different planets,
and all this ship and the andand the traveling to different planets is

(23:29):
the thing that makes it on funand boring to play. Paul seventy six
had better bones in this everything thatfalls. Same thing with Cyberpunk, same
thing with No Man Sky. Iwould even argue anthem, if they had
actually put time and effort into fixingit would have like had had good enough

(23:52):
bones that if they actually like madeactual effort into making better content for it,
it would like the skeleton is there, the Starfield is completely but the
the every story, the stories, the quests, all of it are spread

(24:14):
out. You have to travel lightyears to go here to talk to this
person, then talk to this person, and then talk to this person,
and then the quest is done, and it just is the There's not there's
so much downtime in between those loadingscreens and traveling that you're thinking, I'm
literally just a fucking messenger boy.Now. A lot of quests in Elder

(24:36):
Scrolls and Fallout are structured in similarways. But there's trap, there's there's
travel when you're not in a fuckingloading screen in between the there's no like
if you are fast traveling, there'sone loading screen. You don't have to
go into multi three. I don'thave I don't have to go into I
don't. There's there's one button bushI find the location, I click the

(24:56):
button, I'm there. It's sotrust me. I don't disagree with you.
I would just bringing up the factthat at this point it's not a
good game to start micro transactioning andship like that. But it just reminds
me also that this is the creationcontent's worth it, Like you're not that
you're buying more content to play inthe game. Starfield has a ship ton

(25:21):
of content to occupy yourself with, you know. And I think the content
that's there is not bad, andI think that it's even good. It's
just I don't want to play andnew. If I'm gonna spend seven dollars
to have a new experience in Devesigat, which I'm happy to do and spend
that money, I'm not gonna doit in Starfield, which it feels like
a burdened play no, I definitelyagree. Uh real quick, just to

(25:45):
bring out one more subject and thenwe'll definitely get into these conferences. Uh,
you're one little second of political satire. Uh. The RNC is gonna
be in Milwaukee, Wisconsent in thisyear, the drunkest state of America.
Not that I don't like Wisconsin,is just the truth. I love y'all.

(26:07):
It cheap. I was told aboutjeez cheese steak. It is that
too, but it is the drunkest, like per capita or something like that,
whatever it is, and alcohol. You found it. Found it interesting
that if you're caught outside of theRNC this year with a reusable water bottle,
you're going to jail, no question. But you know what's allowed inside

(26:33):
the RNC open carry, AR fifteens, fully loaded. So I love America.
I want to say one last thingabout Starfield. If Bethesda does make
a DLC, which I don't thinkthey would do, the game's not receptive.
They are coming out with the DLC. I think this year they are.

(26:55):
I believe they are. I believethey are. So I'm going to
make a prediction on that real quick. I'm gonna make prediction on that real
quick. I think that if Bethesdadoes make a DLC for Starfield, it's
gonna be a DLC that is goingto be having its quests and stuff built
around going into your ship and flyingit as little as possible. Well,

(27:22):
I believe I think we're gonna seeit in the showcase. Not to spoil
anything, but it hasn't been anoutmode, dude, excuse me. It
has been a non ship. Butuh, in one of the Starfield videos
you see like a little rover slashvehicle type thing. Though don't quote me,
but I believe that might be coming. So I think you're right.

(27:45):
Maybe I'll give Starfield a shotter. So again, I'm playing on console,
though I play the controller because Ifound that the control. I found that
the controller, uh bill for it'sit's it's so much like playing like playing
it on a mouse and keyboard. It is so burn But regardless, we've

(28:06):
been putting this off long enough.Let's get start. It's worth thirty minutes
and let's get started on all ofthese games. So we're going to skip.
We had a little podcast before thepodcast, all right, So I'm
just gonna say I couldn't give lessthan two ships about Black Ops six so
I'm going to agree with you.I strongly agree. I think this is

(28:29):
due. Oh ladies and gentlemen,I apologize for the uh break here post
production EVA from High Media here. The other two hours in this podcast,
if I'm being perfectly honest, arenot adequate enough for audio listening is very

(28:52):
in visual, a lot of silencewatching screen. I'm gonna be completely honest.
I don't want to put you guysthrough that, So I just wanted
to had this little bit of abreak here where we get to the other
so it's not so completely jarring whenyou're like, oh shit, that's quite
the wild break. Normally, ourthe rundowns are normally anywhere between thirty two

(29:15):
minutes to an hour, So youknow, we've kind of hit that.
If you want to go watch thefull thing, it's live right now on
it should be live. It goeslive on June the seventeenth, twenty twenty
four, so if you pass thatdate, it's live on the channel right
now. We watched everything through cutSummer Games Fest, the Xbox Showcase,

(29:37):
and we were going to watch theUbisoft stuff until we realize that most of
it was just gameplay for Outlaws andshadows, neither of which me and Brian
are are like so hyped about thatwe wanted to sit through long So if
you want to, I'm in aboutten seconds we're gonna go cut back to
the ending of the podcast. Thanky'all for listening, and I appreciate you

(30:00):
guys, ladies and gentlemen, Thankyou so much for watching. Uh,
