In this episode of Maybe You Can Relate, I’m exploring the power of emotional safety and its vital role in building genuine connections. Through authenticity and vulnerability, we can create spaces for open communication—both in our personal relationships and within our broader community. From navigating the complexities of modern relationships to harnessing the power of online interactions, this episode highlights the importance of sharing our stories, supporting one another, and maintaining boundaries to foster a truly safe and supportive environment.

10 or higher. Here's yoursneak peek of the new maybe you can
Relate episode. Hey folks, I'mKatelyn Duban. You may know me from

(00:50):
such podcasts as the RealWoman Podcast, which you happen to
be a proud member of thePatreon community, which is why you
are hearing me through yourearbuds right now. I'm coming to
you from behind the mic in theRural Woman Podcast Studio for this
exclusive patron only podcastto share with you a bit more about

(01:11):
me, my personal life, ourfarm, my.
Family, the wins, the struggles.
Really just a little bit ofeverything. I wanted to create a
space to share my story with amore intimate audience, to build
a stronger connection. My goalhere is to share about the things
I've learned, the good, thebad, and everything in between. And

(01:35):
maybe, just maybe, you can relate.

(02:02):
We'Re going to talk aboutemotional safety today, and if the
term emotional safety issomething new to you. Emotional safety
refers to feeling secure andaccepted in a way that allows you
to be yourself, including yourvulnerabilities and feelings without
fear of judgment or negativeconsequences. It's a feeling that

(02:27):
you can be authentically youand that you won't be punished or
rejected for it. That is thedefinition of emotional safety. And
it's something that as adeeply emotional, high feeling type
of person, it is superimportant for me probably now more

(02:51):
than ever to feel thatemotional safety. I want to talk
more about kind of the keyaspects of emotional safety, and

(03:14):
a big one that pops out to mewithin that definition is authenticity.
Feeling safe enough to be yourtrue self, including your feelings
and your thoughts, withoutthat fear of being being judged or
rejected. That is huge. If youcan show up and be vulnerable in

(03:38):
these spaces and share yourweaknesses or your mistakes without
the fear of being ridiculed, those to me are the biggest aspects
of emotional safety. I am sograteful for the folks who support

(04:08):
my work like you each andevery month. And truly, I've spoken
to many of you and the factthat you are just here to support
what I'm doing because youbelieve in what I'm doing and any
extra that you get is just abonus. That's how I feel about supporting

(04:29):
creatives and creators. Whatdo they need? What do they want.
I don't need anything inreturn. They're already giving you
likely their authenticity. Andunfortunately, as a creator, sometimes
you have to put your price tagon authenticity to pay the bills,
to pay for the Internet, topay for the extra bright light in

(04:51):
your face, to record thesethings and to put yourself out there.
And a lot of times there's noreturn on that investment. Relationships

(05:14):
are complicated, andespecially in 2025, when a lot of
our connections that we makein our everyday lives sometimes don't
happen face to face. Theyhappen online or they happen in different
platforms. But being able tosupport each other and provide emotional
support and encouragement, whether that's face to face or through

(05:36):
this platform, that's what I'mhere for. I want that. And that I
think really gives thatemotional safety piece. And it allows
people to be vulnerable withme. It allows people to log into
a call with literally astranger and share their story. And

(05:57):
trust me that I'm going to putit out into an audience in a community
that we've already establishedthis trust with one another, that
I'm going to take your storyfor what it is, regardless if I agree
with what you're doing or notfully, and be able to find the parts
that are relatable and that wecan celebrate together.
