Speaker 1 (00:19):
Live from the Saints Headquarters in Tolleson,
arizona, spreading the Gospel, equipping the Saints, standing
for the word of truth, proclaiming God's grace.
Now, on a podcast near you, welcome your host, pastor Joshua
, on the Saints Will OvercomeMinistries.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen.
Pastor Joshua is back.
We've been manning the battlestations, firing in all
cylinders, fighting the enemy onhis own territory.
We got the throttle fullyengaged, the pedal to the
theological metal.
Ladies and gentlemen, we leftoff last time talking about
Sodom and Gomorrah.
There's a lot going on, beenevangelizing all over the place,

(01:16):
preaching the gospel, reachinghumanity, diving to the depths
to try to fight the enemy on adaily basis.
God is good, he's too good, hisword is sweet, it nourishes us.
Ladies and gentlemen, can I getan amen?
Okay, ladies and gentlemen, nowcontinue on.

(01:38):
We were talking about Sodom andGomorrah last time, how the
enemies came in and try tothwart God's design, thwart his
plan between the sexes, male andfemale, and I was putting on
this so-called pastor to try tobreak it down and see exactly
where we're at and what God'sword says.

(01:59):
So I would like to continue on.
I would like to play a littlebit more of the audio on this,
because we're just wrapping upSodom and Gomorrah and I kind of
jumped ahead a few chapters, skipping over Abraham and Sarah.
But we'll backtrack and reversein due time because right now
we're just talking about Sodomand Gomorrah, the sexual design.

(02:22):
So, ladies and gentlemen, as wecontinue, are you ready?

Speaker 3 (02:38):
Being gay and being Christian, and so now I had the
harder work of working it out incommunity.
So I showed up at PrincetonTheological Seminary and the
first thing I did is I went to alecture on homosexuality in the
Old Testament.
This is a lecture that happensevery year at Princeton and it's
done.
It's given by the Old TestamentDepartment and Dr Olson, the
most grandfatherly professorever.

(03:00):
He gets up in front of thisgroup of bright-eyed first-year
seminarians and he says when wetalk about lgbtq people in the
church, we have to talk aboutgenesis.
And I was like I have no ideawhere this is going.
And he said in genesis, whengod creates the first human, he

(03:23):
looks at his creation and hesays it is not good for you to
be alone.
I will create for you a partnerand a helpmate.
And so God did.
And Dr Olson said that when wetalk about LGBTQ people in the
church, we must make sure thatwe are not holding back a

(03:44):
blessing of God from people whoare gay and lesbian.
Partnership is absolutelycentral to being human and it is
one of the first of many giftsthat God gives to humanity.
He then went on to talk aboutmarriage and he said marriage is
a gift that God gives tohumanity, but God gives it to
all people, not just a certainsect or a certain religion.

(04:07):
It is a gift for all, and sothe church must make sure that
we are not getting between giftsthat God is giving to the
people.
The church should not besomeone who denies a blessing to
anyone.
So I was totally blown awaybecause I had never heard anyone

(04:33):
talk about being in asame-gender relationship, being
in a same-sex relationship in away that was supported and
encouraged by Scripture, and itchanged me.
I'm not the only one that itchanged.
Every year at PrincetonTheological Seminary there's a
group called Bi, gay, lesbianand Straight Supporters, bglas,
and we take a photo every year.
This is one of the photos.
It's a photo of students whohave been given a t-shirt that

(04:57):
they wear throughout the yearand all over, and it's a sign of
being an ally To the LGBTQcommunity.
The photograph Is a witness tothe world that it is a lie that
God does not love LGBTQ people, and every year that photo grows.
There are students and staffand professors and it expands,

(05:19):
and by the time I graduated, wehad spilled off the chapel steps
and we were filling up into thequad and it was a celebration
every year.
And then people take thoset-shirts and they wear them
around.
They wear them where they'redoing their internships at
different churches, they wearthem when they work with youth
groups.
Later on, when they becomepastors, people take those
shirts and they take thatblessing with them.

(05:39):
A shift was occurring while Iwas there, and it wasn't just
happening at PrincetonTheological Seminary.
It was also happening in threemajor denominations the
Presbyterian USA, in which I amordained, the United Church of
Christ and the EvangelicalLutheran Church of America.
By the time I graduated and wasordained as a Presbyterian
pastor, these threedenominations were performing

(06:02):
same-gender marriages, same-sexmarriages with the full blessing
of the church, and they wereordaining openly LGBTQ people as
pastors, and that was a shiftthat had been years in the
making.
But you might be thinking well, maybe that's a shift that just
happens with some Christians andthat's actually not true.
So this is support for same-sexmarriage across a variety of

(06:26):
different denominations.
The denominations are brokendown into families, so I belong
to a tradition that isconsidered a white mainline
Protestant tradition, and as youlook, you can see that between
2001 and 2014, there has beenmassive rates of increase in
support for same-sex marriage2014,.

(06:47):
There has been massive rates ofincrease in support for
same-sex marriage.
Now what you might notice isthe group that's the least
supportive white evangelicalProtestants.
I would like to point out thatthe black church is more
supportive than whiteevangelical Protestants, and so
the myth that the black churchis homophobic.
We need to question ourselveson where we get that narrative.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Ladies and gentlemen, here on the Saints, overcome
with Pastor Joshua.
We tell the truth.
That so-called pastor's name isDavid Norse and that was at a
TED Talk and that does show youthe corruption that has seeped
into the churches.
The enemy has came in.
He's pillaging, he's destroying.
If he can mar the line betweenthe sexes and he can corrupt

(07:39):
God's design, there's nothing hecan't do Now.
Does God love LGBT, ladies andgentlemen?
Yes, does he love people?
Yes, we have to understand asChristians that it's not our way
.
There's no turning in shadowwhen it comes to God.

(08:02):
We cannot corrupt his holiness, and God uses pronouns in the
Bible like he and she forspecific reasons, to delineate
male and female for his choosingand why he does it.
God is transcendent and I wouldlike to pick up at Genesis 19,

(08:25):
sodom and Gomorrah destroyed.
And I understand what thisso-called pastor tried to do
when he twisted the words.
And he's not a pastor and he'snot a Christian.
I know he wants to tell himselfthat.
I know he wants to convincehimself that, that I know he

(08:50):
wants to convince himself that.
And we'll say a prayer forhomosexuals at the end of this
podcast.
We'll pray for the people thatare committing adultery for
people that are committingfornication.
It's not just abouthomosexuality beloved, it's
about sexuality in general, andwe will have our podcast series
on fornication and adultery andlust and juxtapose that to

(09:13):
homosexuality and truly openpeople's eyes in the church on
this podcast reaching thousands, reaching millions across the
seas, internationally, nationally, because here we tell
the truth.
So let's start at chapter 19,.

(09:34):
Shall we, and ladies andgentlemen, send this podcast to
somebody if they're struggling,if they're not struggling, if
they're in sin, if they don'thave this particular sin,
because we need to reach out andwe need to do God's work in his
kingdom.
We're going to be around for along time.
We're not going away.
The show is getting better andbetter.

(09:54):
Ladies and gentlemen, are youready?
Okay, here we go, ladies andgentlemen.
Okay, here we go.
Ladies and gentlemen, the twoangels arrived at Sodom in the
evening and Lot was sitting inthe gateway of the city.
Now, ladies and gentlemen, usually when somebody sits at a
gateway in the city, that'swhere they hold court, they have

(10:17):
discussions, they judge oncertain matters.
So apparently, lot is of someimportance and he's made himself
well known in this city.
And when they set up the gatesof the city.
It just usually was not just agate like we think of a gate.
They were living quarters thereand there were places to relax,

(10:38):
sit down, and that's where youcame to commune when it came to
issues within the city.
So let's continue on.
They were at the gateway of thecity.
When he saw them, he got up tomeet them and bowed down with
his face to the ground.
My lords, he said, please turnaside to your servant's house.

(10:59):
You can wash your feet andspend the night and then go on
your way early in the morning.
No, they answered.
We will spend the night in thesquare Remembrance two angels.
But he insisted so stronglythat they did go with him and

(11:19):
entered his house.
He prepared a meal for them, baking bread without yeast, and
they ate Before they had gone tobed.
All the men partners, thedepravity of a town and the fact

(11:48):
that they were all in the sameboat.
Not just that, but theviolation and wanting to rape
two angels.
Lot should not have been inthat city in the first place.
It was rifled with sin, debauchery, licentiousness.
Let's continue on to verse 6.
Lot went out to meet them andshut the door behind him and he

(12:10):
said no, my friends, don't dothis wicked thing.
Now.
The Bible shows all thewrinkles and warts and the
tragedies and the disgust thatpeople do, and we have to catch
that and read in between thelines, as Lot has done here.
Lot does one of the mostwickedest things that I can even

(12:33):
see, in Scripture too.
So the angels came to talk toLot, probably on Abram's behalf.
The town stormed the door, wanting to rape the men.
And this is Lot's response Look, I have two daughters who have
never slept with a man.
Let me bring them out to you.

(12:54):
You can do what you like withthem.
Lot is saying I have twodaughters.
You can go ahead and rape them, gang rape them if you want,
kill them, do whatever you want.
They mean nothing to me.
Ladies and gentlemen, I don'thave an ounce of respect for Lot
.
I really don't.
I mean this is grotesque, it'sterrible, it's horrible.

(13:16):
And I really do wonder how manypeople read this narrative and
understand and see what's goingon, because I don't really have
any more respect for Lot thanthe people storming the door.
The people want to practicefornication, homosexuality and

(13:36):
rape two angels.
And Lot gets up on his highhorse and says take my daughters
and rape them and do what youwant.
Terrible, terrible, terriblething that man did.
But don't do anything to thesemen, for they have come under

(14:07):
the protection of my roof.
Verse nine, verse 9.
Break down the door.
But the men inside reached outand pulled Lot back into the
house and shut the door.
The men were angels.
Then they struck the men whowere at the door of the house,
young and old, with blindness,so they could not find the door.
The two men said to Lot do youhave anyone else here,

(14:31):
son-in-law, sons or daughters,or anyone else in the city who
belongs to you?
Get them out of here, becausewe are going to destroy this
place.
The outcry to the Lord againstits people is so great that he
has sent us to destroy it.
So the angels went there becauseGod was extending his grace to
Lot and his family.

(14:51):
God was extending his grace toLot and his family and even in
Lot's evil act in wanting tothrow his daughters out to be
raped, destroyed, maimed, killed, god still saw it in his grace
to redeem Lot and his familyunder his protection.

(15:12):
So Lot went out and spoke tohis son-in-law, who were pledged
to marry his daughters.
He said hurry and get out ofthis place because the lord is
about to destroy the city.
But his son-in-law thought hewas joking.
With the coming of dawn, theangels urged lot, saying a hurry
, take your wife and your twodaughters who are here, or you

(15:33):
will be swept away.
When the city is and that's whatit all comes down to, the
Lord's mercy and I'm sure Sodomand Gomorrah had many chances to

(15:57):
repent and they chose not to.
The sin got so bad, somagnified in that city beloved,
that God had no other choice torain down fire and brimstone.
Other choice to rain down fireand brimstone.
And even to this day, where thecities have been

(16:21):
archaeologically dug up, you canfind sulfur balls embedded in
the earth, so much so as you cantake a match or a lighter and
light them on fire, proving theevidence and the existence of
this narrative, this historicalplace in history and its time,
confirming God's holy word,verse 17,.

(16:44):
As soon as they had brought themout, one of them said flee for
your lives, don't look back anddon't stop anywhere in the plain
, flee to the mountains or youwill be swept away.
But Lot said to them no, mylords, please.
Your servant has found favor inyour eyes and you have shown

(17:05):
great kindness to me in sparingmy life.
He's right.
God showed Lot an immenseamount of kindness, especially
trying to give both of hisdaughters up.
But God rescued even hisdaughters.
But I can't flee to themountains.
This disaster will overtake meand I'll die.

(17:26):
Look, here is a town nearenough to run to, and it is
small.
Let me flee to it.
It is very small, isn't it?
Then my life will be spared, hesaid to him Very well, I will
grant this request too.
I will not overthrow the townyou speak of, but flee there
quickly, because I cannot doanything until you reach it.

(17:47):
That is why the town is calledZor.
By the time Lot reached Zor, thesun had risen over the land
that the Lord rained downburning sulfur on Sodom and
Gomorrah from the Lord out ofthe heavens.
Thus he overthrew those citiesand the entire plain, destroying

(18:07):
all of those living in thecities and also the vegetation
in the land.
But Lot's wife looked back andshe became a pillar of salt.
They even have it to this daywhere, if you Google it, the
image of her.
They think that you could evensee the preservation of her body
when it was turned to salt Tothis day, thousands of years ago

(18:30):
.
Let's carry on to verse 27.
Early the next morning, abrahamgot up and returned to the
place where he had stood beforethe Lord.
He looked down towards Sodomand Gomorrah, towards all the
land and the plain, and he sawdense smoke rising from the land
like smoke from a furnace.

(18:51):
So when God destroyed thecities of the plain, he
remembered Abraham and hebrought Lot out of the
catastrophe that overthrew thecity where Lot had lived.
Ladies and gentlemen, that iswhat God believes, that is his

(19:12):
truth, that is what he knows andthat is what he thinks about
homosexuality, about sin.
When it comes to defiling thebody and preceding that, abraham
pleaded for Sodom in thechapter before that.
So why don't we look at the endresult, which we just did, and

(19:38):
go back and read the plead ofAbraham?
This is verse 16,.
Ladies and gentlemen, when themen got up to leave, they looked
down towards Sodom and Abrahamwalked along with them to see
them on their way.
This is when the angels camedown and Abraham met them and

(20:01):
baked bread for them.
Then the Lord said Shall I hidefrom Abraham what I am about to
do?
Abraham will surely become agreat and powerful nation and
all the nations on the earthwill be blessed through him.
Powerful nation and all thenations on the earth will be
blessed through him, for I havechosen him so that he will
direct his children and hishousehold after him to keep the
way of the Lord by doing what isright and just.

(20:22):
So the Lord will bring aboutfor Abraham what he had promised
him.
The Lord said the outcry againstSodom and Gomorrah is great and
their sin is so grievous that Iwill go down and see if what
they have done is so bad as theoutcry that has reached me.
If not, I will know.
So let's stop right there, ladies and gentlemen.
An outcry.

(20:42):
God wasn't just watching downand is omnipresent and
omnipotent and saying I'm goingto go down there and kill them
because they're beinghomosexuals.
Only no-transcript.
Probably murder, macabre mayhem, destruction, destroying every

(21:05):
sexual sin and abomination youcould probably imagine were
going on in Sodom and Gomorrah.
And there was an outcry, probably of murder and
everything in between.
The men turned away and wenttowards Sodom, but Abraham
remained standing before theLord.
Then Abraham approached him andsaid Will you sweep away the

(21:27):
righteous with the wicked?
What if there are fiftyrighteous people in the city.
Will you really sweep it allaway and not spare the place for
the sake of fifty righteouspeople in it?
Far be it from you to do such athing to kill the righteous
with the wicked, treating therighteous and the wicked alike?
Far be it from you.

(21:49):
Will not the judge of all theearth do right?
Ladies and gentlemen, abraham ispleading, but at the same time,
abraham doesn't have as muchlight as we do and he doesn't
know the gospel in its fullentirety, even though he is the
patriarch.
And he doesn't know the gospelin its full entirety, even
though he is the patriarch.
We're all wicked, we're allunsaved, we're all dead in our

(22:11):
sins.
We cannot have the ability tocome to God unless he seeks us
out and regenerates us.
Total depravity has affectedevery part of our being, not in
the fullness of its wickedness, but in the fullness of tainting
every part of us mind, soul, will, thought, deed.

(22:37):
The Lord said If I find fiftyrighteous people in the city of
Sodom, I will spare the wholeplace for their sakes.
Then Abraham spoke up again.
Now that I have been so bold tospeak to the Lord, but I am
nothing but dust and ashes.
What if the number of therighteous is five less than
fifty, will you destroy thewhole city for a lack of five
people?
If I find forty-five there, hesaid, I will not destroy it Once

(23:02):
again.

Speaker 4 (23:02):
he spoke to him.
What, if only?

Speaker 2 (23:04):
forty are found there , he said, For the sake of forty
, I will not do it.
Once again he spoke to him tospeak to the Lord.
What if only 20 can be foundthere?
He said, for the sake of 20, Iwill not destroy it.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
Then he said may the Lord not be angry, but let me
speak just once more.
What if only 10 can be foundthere?
He answered for the sake of 10,I will not destroy it.
When the Lord had finishedspeaking with Abraham, he left
and Abraham returned home.

Speaker 2 (23:48):
Ladies and gentlemen, there wasn't even 10.
There wasn't five, there wasn'teven one.
Even Lot demonstrated he wasn'trighteous, willing to give his
daughters up to the barbariansto be raped and murdered.
An evil generation, an eviltime, but God is a gracious God,

(24:08):
full of compassion, mercy andlove.
I don't only see Lot in thisstory.
I don't only see the men ofSodom and Gomorrah in this story
.
I see myself in this story, aresident of Sodom and Gomorrah
before I was saved, exercisingall evil, doing what was a

(24:29):
violation unto the Lord lying, stealing, cheating, covetousness
, adultery in my heart, becausethat is where I was at, ladies
and gentlemen, before the Lordfound me and regenerated me.
It's never been about who isbetter than the other person.
It's never been about do yousin more than another person.

(24:52):
It has always been about howmuch do you love the Lord and
are you truly regenerated.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have tounderstand that when we talk
about homosexuality, we'retalking about sin.
We're talking about fornication, we're talking about sin,
adultery, sin, lust, sin.

(25:12):
The Lord, it's his way.
There's things which he willnot tolerate, Because, once
we're saved, the Spiritsanctifies us and leads us out
of the darkness and into thelight.
Ladies and gentlemen beloved.
I would like to say a prayerspecifically for people caught

(25:35):
up in sexual sin.
Close your eyes and bow yourhead with me as we repeat this
Father God, if anybody here islistening and caught up in
sexual sin lust, licentiousness, debauchery, the depravity in
the physical I pray that yourelease these chains, that you

(25:58):
break the bondage, that you letthem serve you, whether it's
pornography, homosexuality,fornication, adultery.
This society is training youngmen to be women, young women to
be men and calling it right, just and holy, trying to replace

(26:21):
you.
But you and your word statethat is an abomination to the
Lord, that you hate it.
I ask that, if the Lord isspeaking to you in any sexual
sin, that you cry out and saythis prayer with me Lord, please
forgive me for my sins.
I accept the Messiah Yeshua.

(26:42):
Jesus Christ, the Mashiach, theanointed one that was chosen,
died on the cross.
He's more powerful than anysexual sin, homosexuality,
transgender, androgyny.
He can break you free.
Lord, come into my life.
I accept you as my Lord andSavior.
Lord, come into my life.

(27:02):
I accept you as my Lord andSavior.
Understand that I won't befixed right away, but I will
flower through this journey as Istruggle like a parched flower
in the desert waiting for therain.
I accept the gift, thesacrifice and the eternal life.
Lord, help me now, here I stand.

(27:25):
I cannot do it without you.
Amen.
Ladies and gentlemen, I loveyou beloved.
It's great to be back.
It's been a busy season.
I'm going to sign off for theday.
It's time to go to war andfight the enemy.
I got the full armor of God on.
God bless you all.
