Speaker 2 (02:16):
Figuring it out and then make sure you join us for
episode 52.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
52.
That is only five episodes awayfrom this current release.
That's right, I almost saidrecording.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
But We'll have two guests on and we'll try to do
like a focused, like recap, because that'll be our one year.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
One year of doing the Saints that Serve podcast.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Yep, so we'll, we'll, yeah, just have a couple of
people on and we'll talk aboutall of our fun and difficult and
weird stuff that we've done forthe past year.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
And a gentle reminder .
Coming up relatively soon inthe next month or so will be our
results of our summer moviedraft.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Yeah, so that's a bonus episode.
Yeah, so that's a bonus episode.
If you want to go scrollthrough the catalog, you can
pull up where Jairus, ashley andmyself all did a draft for the
summer movie releases to seewhose picks would make the most
money.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
That's right.
So go back, listen to that, hear what movies we each drafted
into our picks and then tune insoon.
Yeah, we'll, we'll give themanother reminder, but just kind
of like almost.
I mean it's past the midwaymark, but we're pretty much past
all of the major releases, butwe still do have movies coming

(03:38):
out that are on our list.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
I think that they come out through like.
I think it was like September5th.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
Yeah, so I think probably be on the lookout
around probably October-ish forthat to come out, because we
want to give all our movies timeto make some money.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
It's funny, me and Ashley we pick movies now based
off of.
This is not Johnny's movie.
That's so dumb.
We did go see naked gun thenaked gun.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
We did go and watch that which is one of your movies
.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Spoiler to the the draft, but that movie was really
funny.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
It was really funny.
We'll have to do a review of it, maybe a bonus episode or
someone, because it was funnyenough to talk about.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
To talk about, yeah, yeah I mean we, I mean the whole
theater, the whole timelaughing at everything yeah,
it's rare to go see a movie thatthe whole theater is enjoying.
Yes, laughing like sometimesjust people like just sitting
there watching it.
But no, everybody was laughingat this movie.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Yes, yeah, it was good, but yeah, that's fun.
We only have really one thingprepared for tonight.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
That's right and that's what we're going to spend
our entire time talking about.
So, just like last week wherewe talked about Marvel Tyler,
this is your transition into DC,the DCU.
Well, you did DCU, I did all ofDC, because DCU is not a lot to
talk about comparatively.

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Oh, okay.
Well, yeah, we'll do all of DCthen.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Yeah, cool, cool.
So starting out with DC, I have.
Where is that in my notes?

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Let's go back to a simpler time 1950.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
No, you're actually incorrect 1934.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Whoa, who was the first superhero?
Was it Superman?

Speaker 1 (05:41):
I'm not sure.
Actually, it was founded in1934 as National Allied
Publications.
Then, four years later, theychanged it to Detective Comics.
Detective Comics that's what DCstands for, my guy Nice, you
know they, you know it, you knowit.

(06:02):
First major success was ActionComics number one, which is
under the DC publication Mm-hmm.
So they made comics before this, but their first major one was
Action Comics number one in 1938.
Do you know who was the maincharacter of Action Comics?

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Superman.
Did you look it up?
Well, I was trying to figureout who the first superhero was,
and this AI result was DCComics continuity.
Superman is generallyconsidered the first DC
superhero.
His debut occurred in ActionComics number one on April 18th
1938.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
So to answer my question yeah, you looked it up.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Yes, I did look it up .
I was literally looking it upas you were posing me the
question.

Speaker 1 (06:46):
I was like oh, and then, after the fact, right one
year later, their next majorsuperhero came out in Detective
Comics number 27.
What superhero was?

Speaker 2 (07:02):
in Detective Comics number 27?
Batman, it was Batman.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
Yeah, I remember you struggled with that one, so I
can tell, you didn't look thatone up, I did not look that one
up.
And then, over time, you gotheroes like Wonder Woman, flash,
green Lantern, aquaman, martianManhunter.
Okay, here's my thing with DC.
Okay, I think the charactersare better than Marvel.
Ooh, hot take, hot take.

(07:25):
I think the characters andstories are better than Marvel.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
But Is that just because you like detective work?

Speaker 1 (07:32):
I do.
I do a lot of detective work.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Well, you like escape rooms.

Speaker 1 (07:35):
Yeah, they're a lot of fun Problem solving puzzle.
Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
The movies Marvel's movies arebetter than dc's movies.
Yeah, but I think thecharacters are better, and that
is even going with people sayingthat superman is what they call
a mary sue or a character whois like just way, just

(07:57):
overpowered.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Yeah, and over the years I think superman has
gotten better written that he'snot overpowered yeah just
opinion yeah, it's that he'sgotten less overpowered, but
it's just because they'vebrought more insane people into
the play.
I see what you're saying peoplewho are stronger villain that

(08:18):
stronger villains, stronger,stronger co-heroes, stronger
neutral anomalies.
Like when he first came out, Ifeel like it was hey, this guy
is super and he's fightingburglars, you know, yeah, and
saving cats from trees, andsaving cats from trees, yeah.

(08:40):
So it was like, yeah, likenothing, there's no way for him
to be combated.
But as time rolls on, it's likeyou know things like um dark
side.
And come on, help me with someother villains that are like
super overpowered as well.

(09:00):
Lex, luther, lex, you thinkit's because he's got money.
Dark side what's the?
What's the destroyer?
One, and that's a Superman.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Oh doomsday doomsday.
Thank you, that's what I wastrying to think of mm-hmm yeah,
doomsday, dark side, altarSuperman or whatever is
bizarroizarro, bizarro, there wego, bizarro, yeah, I don't know
, like, when you're talkingabout Superman being overpowered
.
I really think it's gottenbetter, because in this new
Superman movie it does not feellike any point that he's just

(09:36):
going to one-punch them Like, like, like Saitama, like Saitama
, it was turned down, hold on,say it again.
Like Saitama, saitama, there wego.
Like you do have that trope, and One Punch man is a parody of

(09:57):
superhero, overpoweredsuperheroes, where you know he
comes in and literally punchesthem.
One time and Superman used to dothat where it was like there
was a problem, it was like kindof a buildup and a hype moment
or just you know, a cliffhanger, kind of moment of getting you
on edge, and then Superman showsup and saves the day.
Yeah, and that's not what thisnew superman movie is.

(10:18):
You know what I mean.
He's actually kind of in a waythat feels realistic, struggling
against what he's fighting anddoing and in the moments, don't
ever feel like it's more thanjust kryptonite and this is the
most recent superman movie thatjust came out yes, 2025 with

(10:39):
david corn sweat as superman yep, all right, I respect that.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
side note.
I'm, low-key, frustrated withthe fact that they still have
not released the english dub ofseason three of One Punch.
I don't even think they'vebrought out the Japanese release
.
So yeah, just no season threeyet.
Yeah Well, because it's likethey were working on it and then

(11:07):
apparently it changed studiosfor creation and then the studio
, I don't know, there was likesome creative problems or
whatever, so they had to redostuff or something.
I don't know.
There was like some creativeproblems or whatever, so they
had to redo stuff or something,I don't know.
But basically it was like itwas almost ready and it was
about to be released and thenthey didn't release it.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
We could have an entire episode just on One Punch
man.
Yeah, we could.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Maybe someday soon.
We already talked about the OnePiece, so might as well.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Anime part seven, because we talk about anime all
the time.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Yeah, but uh, yeah, so superman pretty cool dude
who's.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
I was gonna say I think I was about to ask the
same question do you likesuperman or batman?

Speaker 2 (11:53):
I think I like Batman more because I guess he's more
relatable.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
So you've lost your parents, and then you dress up
as a bat.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
No, in the sense that he doesn't have superpowers.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
But he figures out, batman's superpower is money,
that's right.

Speaker 2 (12:14):
No, like you know, people like to make fun of
Batman and there's kind of thetrope of he's the dark brooding
guy kind of deal.
But I mean, if you just look athis MO, it's all about hey,
there's wrong, it needs to berighted, and I'm going to do it,
but I'm going to do it theright way.
Batman's big thing is that hedoesn't kill anybody, he doesn't

(12:37):
use guns and he doesn't killanybody.
He has, I guess in some of thecomics, killed some people.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
Yeah, it depends on what storyline you're watching.
Yeah, because when it comes tocomics, you're going to have so
many different alternateuniverses and storylines.
Yeah, and that's kind of likeokay, I really like the DCEU U
lines.
Yeah, and that's kind of likeokay, I really like the dcu.

(13:02):
Okay, you eu, whatever.
I think it's dceu, right, dceu, detective comics, extended
universe, entertainment universe, I think I'm not sure.
The um, the snyder, you knowzach snyder movies, the one that
just got canceled and I'm kindof upset about.
Yeah, so we started with man ofSteel and then we went to
Batman versus Superman, thenWonder Woman.

(13:24):
We got that movie.

Speaker 2 (13:27):
Just Wonder Woman, just Wonder Woman.
And then was it the JusticeLeague, and then Wonder Woman
1980, whatever or league.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
And then wonder woman , 1980, whatever.
Or man of steel, batman versussuperman, dawn of justice,
suicide squad, wonder woman,justice league.
Aquaman, shazam, birds of prey, the suicide squad.
So the sequel, black adam, theflash.
Aquaman 2, likeen Kingdom, orsomething like that I think.
And then Shazam 2, fury of theGods.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Those are your DCEU movies and you said you didn't
like the second Aquaman right.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Not really.
It was better than the Flash.
Yeah, it definitely was.
To me, the last good DCEU moviewas Black Adam, and that ends
on such a cool cliffhanger thatwe'll never see results from.
Yeah, unfortunately, Like Iguess again spoiler warning on

(14:34):
things.
We'll be talking aboutdifferent movies and properties
and storylines and stuff, butit's like you hype up this
moment of Superman coming in tofight Black Adam, yeah, and then
we'll never see a result of it.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
We'll never see who won.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
I think in the comics Superman did Well, yeah,
superman always wins.
Yeah, but whatever, even whenthe comics, superman did Well,
yeah, superman always wins.

Speaker 2 (14:57):
Yeah, but whatever, even when he dies, he wins.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Yeah, because he comes back.
All right, I really like theZack Snyder stories.
Yeah, yeah, and people getupset about it, like Batman
versus Superman.
There's a part where Batmangrabs a gun from somebody and
shoots some light bulbs out.
Right, he doesn't actuallyreally shoot anybody.
Yeah, and people are really mad.
Like batman doesn't use guns, like, but in this he did so

(15:24):
depends on they never in theuniverse.
They never established in thisparticular universe that this
batman does not like using guns, because he's like in the
justice league, he's using hiscar and shooting like tank
bullets and killing these aliencreatures.
So it's like in the justiceleague, he's using his car and
shooting like tank bullets andkilling these alien creatures.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
So it's like and then he uses a gun, one of the alien
guns, to shoot an aliens yeahso it's like they never
established that this batmandidn't like guns.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
So you can't have that generalized plot point
because it's established in adifferent story.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
I think that's the problem with comic books in
general is it's like if peopleget upset about the way that one
superhero is presented, it'sbecause they wanted this
specific version of thatsuperhero To be something
they're not.
Well, but no, that's what I'msaying is in this movie, where

(16:16):
they announced that thissuperhero was coming, was going
to be in the movie.
They're like, oh, I want theBatman from comic book edition,
whatever, whatever.
But then they get the Batmanfrom comic book edition over
here, yeah.
And so it's like I don't likethat.
Batman.
Yeah, it's like, well, that'snot true to the story.
It's like, well, you've onlyread these books, you haven't

(16:39):
read the other ones.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
So yeah, there's a really cool moment in the
Justice League TV show thecartoon that came out like in
the early 2000s, yeah, whereDead man, which is like a dead
ghost man, uh wow, yeah, somebody's about to shoot like

(17:05):
one of the justice leaguemembers, so he possesses batman
quickly and then grabs anothergun and shoots the the guy and
it's like this really greatmoment of like Batman used a gun
, but it wasn't really Batmanand he's like he's really upset
but he didn't actually do it.
Yeah, it didn't.
I don't even think it killedthe dude either.
You know you want to talk aboutthe animated side of things.

(17:29):
Let's do it Because, though Ireally liked the DC movies, what
DC does so much better thanMarvel is their animated movies
that they put out, yeah, andthey're like DC has always had
way better cartoons, yeah, and Imean I guess that's my opinion
on things.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
What's your favorite TV series cartoon from DC.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Batman, the animated series Okay, that one came out
in 1992 and aired through 1995.

Speaker 2 (18:00):
I thought you were a Teen Titans Go kind of guy.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
I will punch you.
I hate that show so much.
Oh, it's so stupid.
I know that that show is madefor me.
That show is made for me, right, because I loved Teen Titans
when it was coming out yeah, Ilike when the original teen
titans was coming out, yeah.
And then they made this andit's literally a parody on all

(18:23):
these different moments of liketeen titans and all these
different like pop culturereferences.
Like they make fun of the joker, they'll make a joke.
That's like oh, now I'm gonnabe keaton, not keaton.
Um, now I'm going to be JackNicholson, I'll be Jack
Nicholson's Joker, and thenanother character will be like
and I'll be Jared Leto.

(18:43):
I want to put these scars onyou.
It's stuff like that and itreally is made for DC fans.
Yeah, teen Titans Go is, and itjust rubs me the wrong way and
I hate that show so much.
It's so annoying.
That's funny.
But batman, the animated series, that is the one where we got

(19:04):
the definitive voice actor forthe definitive voice for batman
and the definitive voice for theJoker.

Speaker 2 (19:13):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (19:14):
Kevin Conroy voicing Batman, and Mark Hamill.
Luke Skywalker does the voicefor the Joker and he sets that
standard for the voice of theJoker at that point in
Forevermore and you can seethose influences on these other
actors who end up playing theJoker and everything else.

(19:35):
Yeah, heath Ledger, jared Leto, jared Leto, jared Leto, but you
know what I mean.
Like Jack Nicholson, you kindof see that in his Joker a
little bit, but not as much.
Side note, actually, I thinkJack Nicholson's Joker came out
before Mark Hamill played theJoker.

Speaker 2 (19:55):
Is there a Jared Leto character that you like?
In all the movies that JaredLeto's been in, has there been
anything that you like that he's?

Speaker 1 (20:06):
portrayed.
He did all right in BladeRunner.
Okay, that sequel where he kindof plays the villain.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
I was just thinking about, we were talking about
superheroes.
I was thinking about how he wasin Morbius and how he is Joker
in Suicide Squad.
I'm like I don't like either ofthose.
I don't think Jared Leto didvery good.

Speaker 1 (20:31):
He's going to play in the new Tron movie.
Why didn't they just bring backall the people they had in Tron
legacy?
I don't know.
The trailer for Ares does lookgood, though.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Tron Ares the guy I cannot remember his name, but
the young guy, the maincharacter.

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Flynn, maybe Finn I.
I gotta to rewatch Tron.
Those movies are great.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
I feel like, if I remember correctly, he's in I Am
Number Four.
Yeah, I feel like he was apretty good actor.
Yeah, they should bring him.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
He should be in more movies, just bring back his
character, because it looks likethey might be bringing back,
probably in CG form, jeffDaniels, not Jeff Daniels, jeff
Bridges.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Yeah, character.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Okay, because he was in the original Tron.
He came back for the sequel andit looks like he's going to be
in this one as well.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Crazy.
I think it's funny because theydid an animated series and they
put out like one or two seasonsand then they canceled it, not
because it wasn't doing well, but because they weren't
reaching their target audience, which was kids, because all the
adults which was kids, it wasall adults.
Everyone tuning in was adultmales from 18 to I think it was

(21:45):
like 27.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
Yeah, all the people who actually can appreciate.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Tron.
Yeah, exactly, and they werelike we love it, we love it, and
then they canceled it becausekids weren't watching it.
And Elijah Wood was like waslike no, my tron, because he was
voice acting the main characterwhat is your favorite dc movie,
uh, tv show property?

(22:08):
in general, I could be a game Ireally like the first aquaman
with Jason Momoa.
We're going to set aside thefact that Amber Heard is in the
movie, because her I mean beforethe whole thing with Johnny
Depp her is just a actress Ijust couldn't get into it.

(22:34):
Yeah, she didn't.
I don't feel like she did verywell, but uh, yeah, outside of
her, which she's in a largeportion of the movie.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
I mean, she is the main love interest in that film.

Speaker 2 (22:48):
Yeah, yeah, but yeah, I like, yeah, I like that movie
and then what else.
You know, when I was younger Ireally liked the Justice League
Unlimited that series.

Speaker 1 (23:04):
So let's get into that a little bit.
So what you're talking about isactually part of a larger
animated universe they createdin the 90s.
Yeah, so it started with theshow I was talking about, the
Batman the Animated Series,mm-hmm.
Then they had a SupermanAnimated Series.
Yep, they rebooted the BatmanAnimated Series, keeping the

(23:29):
cast of characters, but theykind of redesigned them.
It was the new Batman theAnimated Series is what it was
called.
It was essentially anotherseason, but they redid all the
designs of the characters.
Yeah, and those characterdesigns kind of carried over to
Justice League.
Yeah, and within Justice League, that is the same Batman that
is in the Batman animated series, like all the things that he's

(23:51):
been through.
It's that Batman and the sameSuperman and same design.
That carried over to that.
Yeah.
Then they had a show calledstatic shock.
Did you ever watch that?
No, no, that was really good, okay.
And then a like it was like a10 episode show called the zeta
project about a robot trying toblend in with society

(24:11):
interesting.
And then they had the JusticeLeague Unlimited, which is just
a carry-on, where the JusticeLeague was just the team of six
dealing with things.
Justice League Unlimited waswhere they finally started
bringing in all the superheroesto work within the Justice
League.
Yeah, so each episode— Moved toouter space.

(24:32):
They were always in outer spaceIn Justice League.
They were also in outer space.
Oh, they moved to.
Okay, I mean that's kind ofwhere the watchtower was always
at.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
Yeah, what am I thinking of?
Where they had a base?

Speaker 1 (24:43):
You're probably thinking of the Super Friends
that your kids watch.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
Yeah, maybe that's it .
Can we talk about the irony ofthat episode that they were
watching while we were in thebackground?
Which one was that?
They?
I think it's episode three, butbasically the premise of the
episode is they come out withsuper advanced technology and
robots and artificialintelligence are doing

(25:09):
everything.
So people don't have to go towork, they can just stay at home
.
Kids don't have to go to school, they can just do school
through the TV.
And this, I mean this came outin the 1950s.
So it's like you see a kid on atube TV, in a hammock doing
school, saying he's doing schoolwork On Zoom.
Everything gets delivered tothe house, you don't have to go
to the grocery store or nothing, and so it was like in the 1950s

(25:32):
.
This coming out soundsimpossible.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
Well, and it's funny because all of it was kind of
done in jest and in parody, essentially saying this is the
goofy world.
You know what I mean?
We don't want to get to thispoint because everybody's lazy,
yeah.
And then here you are, 60 yearslater, exactly that, yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
We've pretty much completely obtained what they
were making fun of in thatepisode.
It's fun, but anyways sorry,Continue.

Speaker 1 (25:59):
No, you're good.
So you know, the Justice Leagueshow Unlimited just had all of
the characters coming togetherin different stories and it was
good.
It was a good show.

Speaker 2 (26:10):
I enjoyed the back and forth between Green Arrow
and Batman.
Yeah, because they're both.
They don't have superpowers, but they're both super rich and
they're caped crusaders withmasks going around doing
detective work and fightingcrime and what's cool is what
that ends on is an attack.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
so, where marvel had dark side, yeah, sorry geez.
When Marvel had Thanos, yeah,dc has a villain called Darkseid
, darkseid, darkseid, and so heinvades and it's like one of the
coolest moments.
Yeah, and they do it just forthe sake of being cool because,
like, logically, it makes nosense.

(26:51):
But he goes into like a hugefight with Darkseid.
Superman does?
He tells him, he says this is areally rare opportunity for me
to really cut loose.
Yeah, and he's.
He just beats the ever lovingsnot out of dark side and he's
just like, yeah, I don't usuallyget to like go full out like
this and just annihilates darkside.

(27:14):
And it's like in my mind, whenyou're watching it, you're like,
oh, that's so cool.
Yeah, and we start thinkingabout it logically and everybody
around is like what about allthe other times where you were
watching people get the crapbeat out of them?

Speaker 2 (27:26):
yeah, and you're just standing around and you're
holding back or all the time youwere getting the crap beat out
of you and you were holding back.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
Yeah, but yeah, but that was kind of like the last
final fight in that show and itwas so cool like that.
That animated franchise thingkind of really ended well.
Yeah, I think they're stillended on a bit of a cliffhanger
and they could have made more, but they never really did I, uh.

Speaker 2 (27:53):
The one thing that I just don't understand about
Darkseid is his laser vision.
It just zig zags everywhere.
It's like heat seeking, likezig zags around and like does it
, he controls it.

Speaker 1 (28:05):
That's the thing.
Yeah, he shoots it and he's itgoes wherever he wants it to go.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
That's why it zigzags but that's the thing, it's not
it, yeah, it's, it's.
He doesn't move his eyes.
It's like he's moving it withhis mind.

Speaker 1 (28:17):
Yeah, it's shooting out of his eyes, but he's moving
it, it's one continuous laserbeam too, yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Just like Superman's, but Superman has to move his
head to move the beams, whereasDarkseid doesn't have to move
his head.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
Yeah, so.
So, speaking of charactersright, we are speaking of
characters, speaking of just allthe DC characters it's time for
one of our favorite new gameshere on the show.
This one's called DC or Not DC.
We're diving deep into thecomic book weirdness vault to

(28:53):
test whether john can tell thedifference between legit,
obscure dc characters and totalnonsense we made up or swap from
another universe entirely youknow, someday in the near future
I'm gonna make a game, yeah, and it's gonna catch you off
guard.

(29:13):
yeah, so yeah, john had no ideaI had this game prepared.
I just surprised him with it,as I do with most games that you
bring.
So I'm going to read the nameand description of a so-called
character.
Allegedly Some are 100% real, pulled straight from the DC
Comics movies or shows, and someare either from other comic

(29:36):
book publishers or completelymade up by me.
Okay, oh boy.
Okay, I don't.

(30:00):
Dc's been around for nearly acentury.
They've got a guy who weldsdead dogs to criminals.
I'm not even kidding, that is areal case.
Yeah, so let's see how well youreally know your bat mythos,
kryptonian trivia and silver agestrangeness.
Are you ready to play dc or notDC?
I'm as ready as ever.
Let's do this.

(30:22):
So your first character isColor Kid.
Color Kid, color Kid.
This superhero can change thecolor of anything, but that's
about it.
Is that DC or not DC?
I'm going to say DC.
That is, in fact say DC.
That is in fact DC.
Next one Chairman Mallet.

(30:43):
Chairman Mallet he is acrime-fighting vigilante who
delivers justice with a woodenmallet and sits only on truth.

Speaker 2 (30:53):
Sits only on truth.
That's right.
I'm going to say that is not DC.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
That is in fact 100% made up.

Speaker 2 (31:03):
It got me with the chairman mallet, and then it
doesn't have anything to do withthe chair.
Yeah, chairman.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
He sits on the yeah.
Yeah, yeah yeah, dog welder, asilent vigilante who literally
welds dead dogs to criminals'faces.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
You gave that one away, yeah, I did, I, did,
didn't I?

Speaker 1 (31:21):
Yeah, all right, it is what if I said not real.
Then we'd be going back to theMountain Dew debacle.
Yep, yep, oh man, stilt man, avillain who commits crimes using
a metal suit with telescopinglegs so he can walk above cities

(31:42):
.

Speaker 2 (31:43):
That sounds legit.
So I'm going to say DC.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
It is legit, but it's not DC.
Ugh, what is it?
It's Marvel.
It's a Marvel villain whobattles Daredevil oh stupid.
Next one, zebra man, a stripedvillain whose body emits
electromagnetic waves and canrepel anything.

(32:06):
Think Magneto.

Speaker 2 (32:09):
I don't know, dude, I'm going to say not, it is in
fact DC.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
It's a real Batman villain.
He appeared in Detective Cometsnumber 275 in 1960.

Speaker 2 (32:24):
Great.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
We got four more.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
So next one is Nark Nark Yep, a caveman frozen in
ice and revived in modern times, now fighting crime alongside
the Teen Titans.
I'm going to say not, that isin fact DC.
The next one is Beef Supreme no, you didn't even let me read it

(32:53):
.
Let me read it.
A genetically enhanced supersoldier who runs entirely on
protein shakes.
No, yeah, no, I made that up.
We got three more.
All right.
The next one, the Red Bee, a1940s hero who fights crime with
trained bees, including onenamed Michael that lives in his

(33:14):
belt.
What?

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Would you like me to reread it?
No, I'm processing it.

Speaker 1 (33:25):
The Red Bee.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
I'm going to say yes.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
It is in fact DC.
All right, great.
Next one we have Tin-Eyed man.
Tin-eyed man, that sounds likea munchkin card.
Yeah, a villain whose opticnerves were rerouted to his
fingertips so he sees throughhis hands Is he a hero or a
villain?

Speaker 2 (33:51):
He's a villain.
That sounds legit.
I'm going to say DC.
That is in fact DC.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
say DC, that is in fact DC.
He was a Batman villain.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
Of course Batman gets all the weirdos.

Speaker 1 (34:03):
Next one we have Matter Eater Lad.
Matter Eater Lad, matter EaterLab, a superhero who can eat
anything Metal concrete.
You name it, not DC, that is infact, fact DC Dang.
And then we have our last one.
This one's called the Heckler,a masked wisecracker who annoys

(34:28):
criminals into submission withbanter and bright colors.

Speaker 2 (34:32):
Not DC.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
That is in fact DC Dang.
So let me see how many you gotright here.
Not enough, I gave you 11 byaccident.
Oh, so out of the 11 that Igave you, you got 5, right, dang
, that's a failing grade.
Right there, it's a failinggrade.
Sorry, bud, it's okay.
So that was DC or not DC.

(34:57):
Thank you for joining.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Thank you, just so everybody knows, I haven't
really played any DC games, Ihave not read any of the comic
books and I've only watched ahandful of the different
animated and live action.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
So what you're saying is you're not a real fan.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Yeah, not a big fan.
I enjoy some of the stuff, butI haven't watched a whole lot of
it.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
So I have a couple more.
I tried to do 10, but I had 20here.
Dang yeah, for time's sake, youknow.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeahyeah yeah, do you want to hear
some of these names?
Yes, just real quick, I'll giveyou names.
You don't have to guess or not, unless you're interested.
We had Flesh Torch.
We had Flesh Torch, maggot, amazing man, cheese Blade, hell

(35:52):
Cow, the Wall-Eyed Warden andBrother Power the Geek.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
Brother Power the Geek.

Speaker 1 (36:05):
A mannequin struck by lightning that became a hippie
superhero, and that was real.
Oh man, do you want to?
Uh, you want to talk about someof the shows, like the live
action shows.
Oh, yeah, yeah, I think.
I really think that dc has somuch more properties out there

(36:25):
than yeah, than Did you everwatch Smallville.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
No, but I had some siblings that watched it.

Speaker 1 (36:33):
I think that's probably the best Superman TV
show, I think Okay, I mean itran longer than Superman and
Lois, Lois and Clark.

Speaker 2 (36:46):
I think they did a.
I haven't watched the Lois andClark show.
I think they did an O2Smallville in one of those
episodes, gotcha.
So I think Lex Luthor like goesto another dimension or another
reality.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
So Lois and Clark came out in the 90s, oh, and
Superman and Lois came outrecently.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Maybe it's Superman and Lois then I just saw a
snippet of it, but basically itgoes to an alternate reality, to
another Superman, and it's theactor who plays in Smallville.
He's just an adult.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
Yeah, Is that the one where he's like he tries to get
like kill Superman, but he hadgave up his powers?

Speaker 2 (37:24):
Yeah, he gave up his powers and so kryptonite didn't
doesn't affect him.
Yeah, but he can still punchlike a man yeah, and he punched
luther like a man.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
Uh, arrow.
I watched a little bit of arrow, me too.
In the same way, with the flash, I watched a little bit of the
flash.
Yeah, I didn't watch any of thesupergirl.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
I think when they came out with the Justice League
and they cast the actor thatthey cast, everyone was confused
.

Speaker 1 (37:52):
They really should have just cast the guy from the
Flash.

Speaker 2 (37:54):
They should have used the guy from the TV series the
Flash.
Yeah, because he did such agood job.
He did a good job and, to behonest, the actor who played the
Flash, he's a weirdo.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
He's a weirdo and I don't think he did a good job.
No, that was probably one ofthe only few actors who just did
not do the role like anyjustice at all yeah, pun
intended, he just didn't feellike the flash.

Speaker 2 (38:16):
He felt like an actor you would see in like a teen
bop movie, who's like anuncomfortable quirky guy yeah
you know and that just doesn't.
That doesn't come across as theflash to me and anything else
that I've seen the flash in he'snot that way.
So yeah, that was that was.

(38:37):
It was weird the choice thatthey made there.
But anyways, yeah, I haven'twatched any of the tv series or
of supergirl uh, so arrow theflash and Supergirl are all in
the same TV universe.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Yeah, then they had Titans, I think, one other show,
and then what is it?
Bat Woman?
Bat Woman might have been partof it, but Bat Woman got
canceled, I think, before itactually came out.

Speaker 2 (39:06):
I think it came out like one or two episodes.

Speaker 1 (39:08):
What am I trying to think of?
It's the.
I'm blanking on the name of it.
I don't have the notes for it,but it was like in Titans they
meet Beast Boy and he's part ofthe man.
What is it called?
Doom Patrol?

Speaker 2 (39:24):
Doom Patrol.

Speaker 1 (39:25):
Yeah, is it called doom patrol, doom patrol?
Yeah, so there was like a spinlike all those characters from
doom patrol ended up gettingtheir own show when they met the
doom patrol group, gotcha, okay, so that I watched a lot of
titans.
I ended up I think I watchedthrough season four and I think
there's six seasons now.
Okay, I kind of fell offwatching it because it is one of

(39:46):
those hyper violent, it's notmade for kids type show yeah and
it was entertaining.
It told the titan story and it'sjust like after a while I'm
like I can't keep watching thisyeah, I watched, I think, the
first two episodes of gotham, where batman's yet where
everybody's young yeah, gothamwas more about the commission.

(40:08):
Yeah, commissioner Gordon, detective Gordon, and then it's
just like, over time they didhave that kid who played Bruce
Wayne and he, as he grew older,he became a more main character
in the show.
Yeah, but like when he firstcame in, he was like a 10 year
old and by the show in, when theshow ended or at this point I'm
not sure if it actually stoppedrunning, but 2019 is when it

(40:31):
ended so by the time the showended, bruce Wayne was an
18-year-old, so still not oldenough to be Batman, but he was
trying to do Batman things.
Yeah, but I watched a good bitof that.
That was a good show, yeah.

Speaker 2 (40:44):
I mean, batman's got to start somewhere.
Yeah, can't all be ChristianBale in his 30s, can't always be
Christian Bale in his 30s,you're right.
I saw a snippet for a Batmananimation called Ninja Batman vs
Yakuza.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
Have you seen that?
No, but I know what you'retalking about.
It's not to be confused withSamurai, batman or Ninja.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
Batman.

Speaker 2 (41:14):
Yeah, the first one.

Speaker 1 (41:15):
Yeah, it's another one that is about to come out,
or just came out.
It just came out I think, yeah,I haven't seen it, but I know
what you're talking about.
So DC, has I talked about theanimated TV shows, right, the
Batman animated series up toJustice League Unlimited.
We've talked about the movies.
We've talked about the TV showsLive action TV shows.

(41:37):
Live action TV shows.
We've talked about the cartoons, but they also have a canonical
it's like 20 direct to dvdanimated movies where all the
stories connect.
And when you say animated youmean anime, no, animated like a
cartoon, american made cartoon, american made cartoon yeah, yeah

(41:58):
and so, like it starts out likewith the flash, starting
flashpoint, yes, which is like amajor, yeah, the flashpoint
paradox.
Yeah, that's the, that's thefirst one.
And then it ends with themerasing all universes through
like a catastrophic event, andso it's like 23 movies later,

(42:20):
it's like this wave and it'serasing all these different
timelines from from the universeand it's showing the all these
things that you loved yeah, teentitans and the all the animated
series and all these differentthings that had the classic um,
what's his name?
The old 60s batman?
Yeah, uh, he got erased and, like it was crazy, they were

(42:43):
just erasing everything in thislike final, final moment, dang,
it was crazy, yeah.

Speaker 2 (42:49):
Did you ever watch that?
I've watched some of them.
I watched the Flashpoint.

Speaker 1 (42:54):
Sorry, the old 60s Batman.
Oh no, with Adam West.
No, I haven't.
That was great.
That was Batman before.
Batman was dark and gritty andit was this really like like
just colorful children's showand it was.
It's hilarious to watch now it,but it's an animation no, it's
live action.
So okay, the live action oneyeah, where the guy who plays

(43:15):
the joker, they like this isback when batman had no rules
and they just kind of didwhatever.
The guy who played the jokerdidn't want to shave his
mustache, the actor, so thisjoker has just like paint over
his mustache and they're likethey're trying to pose it as him
having, um, you know, just aflat white face painted.
You can easily see the hair.

(43:36):
That's funny, like even to thepoint where they in like action
figures down the years.
Yeah, they actually have hismustache on the action figures.
That's so funny, it's reallyfunny.
That's a lot of people'sclassic Batman.
Yeah, yeah, where me and yoursis probably Val Kilmer.
Yeah, val Kilmer, georgeClooney, you know Clooney.

(44:02):
George Clooney played Batman intwo movies.
Both of them were awful.
Yeah, I think you're thinkingof there was George Clooney, val
Kilmer and one more that playedin that four movies in the 90s.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
Yeah, I'm frustrated that I can't think of his name.
He plays Vulture in Spider-Man.
Homecoming Michael KeatonMichael Keaton, there we go.
Michael Keaton, I believe, wasthe first First live-action
Batman movie, mm-hmm, and he didthe first two movies.

Speaker 1 (44:33):
He did the first two movies With Joker and then the
second one was with Catwoman andthe Penguin.
The Penguin, yeah.
So those movies again, it's socool and weird, like what they
put out, like there's so we.
It's so cool and weird, thelike what they put out, like
there's so many like standalonethings.
And then they have movies thatare like four batman movies in
the 90s that are just all kindof part of the same storyline,

(44:56):
all batman played by four, likethree different people.
Yep, like animated series.
It's so much wider and grandthan marvels what marvel has put
out when it comes tomulti-media in the sense of
movies, video games, everythingyou know.

Speaker 2 (45:15):
So george clooney's batman.

Speaker 1 (45:17):
George clooney's batman arnold schwarzenegger, mr
freeze jim carrey played theriddler ice to meet you, ice to
meet you.
Who's afraid of the big bad bat?
Everybody chill.
Uma Thurman played Poison Ivyin that movie.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah it was.

(45:37):
And then the movie before thatit was Tommy Lee Jones and Jim
Carrey as Two-Face and theRiddler, which apparently they
didn't get along.
The two actors, I believe it.
Do you really think that youwould get along with jim carrey
in real life?
Real life?
I don't know his personality.
Okay, I do not like the movieace ventura, pet detective.

(45:57):
Why?
Because that character is soannoying and it's just so over
the top.
He's always on trying to beannoying to everybody all the
time.
Yeah, and that's just kind ofhow I picture jim carrey being
in real life.
I love his movies but I justdon't feel like that.
I would young jim carrey likeold jim carrey, like if I met

(46:18):
him now it'd probably be fine, but if I met young jim carrey
when I really enjoyed watchingall his movies yeah he'd
probably be the most annoyingperson in the world.
He literally says do you want tohear the most annoying sound in
the world?
Yeah, yeah that's true.

Speaker 2 (46:35):
Yeah uh, I don't know what I was gonna say, so I just
kept on going that's fine, that's fine.
But yeah, the uh, theflashpoint paradox universe
because isn't in those movies, like the overarching villain, is
a reality eraser.

(46:56):
Yeah, and he's chasing themthrough the different realities.
I believe so, and to eraseeverything, and they're trying
to figure out how to stop himand I think he ends up
succeeding, I think Eventually.
I can't remember what they do.
I think that there is somethingwhere they're able to.

Speaker 1 (47:16):
Well, it's weird because they erase the universes
but then it kind of does asmall reset.
I'm not sure I got to go backand watch all those, because
they're all good.

Speaker 2 (47:25):
They somehow, I think that they use war world to
fight him.
But you know, like the biggestthing is that they've got to.
They've got to beat war worldto be able to fight him with it
yeah because that's a wholemovie in itself.
Is war world, where they're alltrapped in different realities.

Speaker 1 (47:50):
Yeah, oh, real quick.
Let's get back on to liveaction real quick, because I
forgot about these.
Okay, joker and the batman thejoker and the batman so walking
phoenix playing the joker oh yes, that movie is fantastic, yeah.
And then the other one I wantto talk about was the Batman,
with Robert Pattinson playingBatman.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
I never watched it.

Speaker 1 (48:12):
Really.

Speaker 2 (48:13):
No, I didn't.

Speaker 1 (48:14):
You know how you came over and we watched that movie
last weekend.
I made you come over to watchFriendship.
Yeah, you need to come over andwatch the Batman.
Okay, it is probably one of thebest Batman movies.

Speaker 2 (48:25):
I saw that they're already revamping Batman and
they're getting, they're getting.

Speaker 1 (48:33):
Cavill to play Batman .
Come back and play Batman.
I saw that.
I don't know how true it is,but I would love to see that.
Yeah, so it's not like they'rereally revamping, it's that they
are now.
So they've completely done awaywith the DCEU.
Yes, all those actors, exceptfor some reason, john Cena.

Speaker 2 (48:52):
Yeah, what's up with?

Speaker 1 (48:54):
that I don't know, because, like, okay, so there's
Suicide Squad, then there's theSuicide Squad, both in the DCEU.
Yeah, the Suicide Squad wasmade by James Gunn, so all those
characters are kind oftransitioning into his movie
universe.
Yeah, so I don't know.
And then, like, off of that, they spent had a spin-off

(49:15):
peacemaker show, yes, which isstill technically part of the
dceu, but also they have a showcalled monster commandos,
creature commandos and so, likethe weasel creature, like it
just starts off from the end ofthe Suicide Squad, the same way
Peacemaker does, and they have acameo of Peacemaker in that

(49:40):
cartoon.
Okay, it's technically so.
Creature Commandos istechnically the first movie in
James Gunn's universe, but it'sa TV show.
It's the first property in thatuniverse before Superman.
Yeah, okay, but it's weird.
I just like the way thatthey've all put that together.
So it's like, becausePeacemaker is in that as a cameo

(50:03):
in that cartoon, it's like, sowhat is carrying over and what
isn't?

Speaker 2 (50:09):
It's still strange.
Well, didn't they come out witha second season of Peacemaker 2
?
I think it's coming out now.

Speaker 1 (50:14):
Okay, yeah, my boss is I hopefully I can say this
now since it's about to come outbut he was my boss's fiancee
was worked on the set ofPeacemaker season two.
Oh really, yeah, awesome.
So like he'd come in and tellme all these things about, like
what she told him and I'm likeI'd actually watched like two

(50:34):
episodes of Peacemaker and itwas a little too much for me
yeah, inappropriateness, so Ididn't finish it, but it's like
I want a clean version of thatshow because it sounds good.

Speaker 2 (50:44):
It's just like they definitely made it way too
adult-themed.

Speaker 1 (50:48):
Yeah, but Robert Pattinson's the Batman is a
great Batman movie with one ofthe best car chase scenes in
cinema Is it supposed to be theBatmanman for the joker.
Uh, no okay, so the joker issupposed to be standalone, the
batman's supposed to bestandalone, with another movie

(51:09):
coming out next year, and thenthey're going to have another
person come in and play thebatman for james gunn's universe
, so it's like they'reseparating these properties.
Yeah, and so I could see wherelike that could get in its own
way when it comes to promotingand having their properties come
out.
Yeah, but I'm in it, I love it.

(51:32):
So Superman was a great movie.
I love that movie, probably oneof my favorite movies this year
.
Okay, so I have high hopes forthis upcoming franchise.
My hopes are quite high, veryhigh.
My hopes.

Speaker 2 (51:46):
They are yeah, I just I couldn't get on board with uh
batman being a vampire, so when?

Speaker 1 (51:53):
was he a vampire?
Robert pattinson oh, real quick.
I want to talk about youngjustice okay.

Speaker 2 (52:05):
Also, I don't think that batman is a wizard either.
Yeah, he was in that, wasn't he?
He was a wizard that got turnedvampire that became the dark
knight who became a bat man whothen somehow got shipped into
space and keeps on dying mickey47 or mickey 17, 17, whatever

(52:25):
it's called.

Speaker 1 (52:25):
That was a good.
I like that movie.
Okay, it was a good movie.
I haven't watched it.
It's weird, it's really weird,but it's good.
Bizarre.
Bizarre young justice was acartoon that was just like kind
of like a Teen Titans kind ofreboot type storyline Teen
Titans.
So I really, really enjoyedthat show and I was really upset

(52:46):
to find out that I finished it.
I finished that show and theyended on a cliffhanger and then
they canceled.

Speaker 2 (52:54):
The show Is Young Justice.
Is that the one that has BlueBeetle?

Speaker 1 (52:59):
Blue Beetle is a character in the show, but later
on, oh okay, they start outsmall with a small team.
But it's kind of like moralinstead of teen titans, it's
like all of these psychicscoming together.
Yeah, like so.
Robin uh, kid flash, uh, redarrow, which was green arrow
psychic, yeah, um, who else wason the team?

(53:20):
Martian Manhunter's daughter, okay, niece, and then like
Superboy, so like that kind ofteam.
Batman's son Robin, I think itis like the descendant of Ra's
al Ghul.
No, it wasn't Damien.
I think it was Tim.

Speaker 2 (53:38):
Oh, okay.

Speaker 1 (53:39):
And that show is Tim Drake.

Speaker 2 (53:40):
Can we acknowledge that there's a crazy amount of
Batman sidekick?

Speaker 1 (53:49):
support team.
Yeah, the whole Bat family.
Yeah, there's so many, it'scrazy.

Speaker 2 (53:54):
It's almost like they're their own mafia in
Gotham.
Yeah, right, because I mean.
What are all the characters?
There's Nightwing, there's theRed Hood Nightwing, red Hood,
batgirl, batwoman, batwoman, andthen there's an array of Robins
.

Speaker 1 (54:12):
So you had Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake,
Damian Wayne, and then there wasa fifth one that was kind of
like in one really popular comicthat was a girl.

Speaker 2 (54:25):
And then doesn't technically Catwoman become a
part of it, like she turns good,I think just yeah, it depends
on what.

Speaker 1 (54:34):
Yeah, and then like in Young Justice, there's like
two ninjas, that are part of hisfamily team.
Yeah, it's good.
I really enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (54:42):
And then there's, and then obviously there's the
butler.

Speaker 1 (54:47):
Alfred, yeah, he puts on the mask a few times.

Speaker 2 (54:50):
Yeah, and I know there's a dog in there somewhere
.
Yeah, there is, there's alwaysa dog.

Speaker 1 (54:56):
Because there's that Super Pets show and there was
Crypt, voiced by duane the rockjohnson and then, um, I don't
remember the dog's name, but itwas voiced by kevin hart.
It was like a 3d animated ohyeah, it's a movie right, yeah,
yeah, and what was it?

Speaker 2 (55:14):
um, I don't remember the dog's name, and that upsets
me, for batman yeah yeah, Ican't remember his name either,
but you said Kevin Hart voiceshim.
Yeah, oh, I'm going to pull itup Dark wing.

Speaker 1 (55:30):
Night dog Night dog.
Ace.
Ace the Bat Hound.
I remembered it.
Ace the Bat Hound.
You're right, I got it.
Yes, I promise you listeners, Idid not look it up, I
remembered it.
Ace the bat hound, I got it.
Yes, I promise you viewers, Idid not look, look it up, I
remembered it yeah he's right.
So there you go.
Let's quickly talk about DCvideo games.

Speaker 2 (55:53):
Okay, before we do that, can we acknowledge that we
were robbed because in super, keanu Reeves voices Batman
Really?
Yeah, and that's the onlyBatman that we've gotten where
Keanu Reeves is Batman, jeez.

Speaker 1 (56:10):
Do you think, though, he's got the voice for it, but
do you think he has the buildand the presence of Batman, or a
?

Speaker 2 (56:19):
Bruce Wayne.
I think that if he can playJohn Wick, that he could play
Bruce Wayne.

Speaker 1 (56:27):
I don't think he has.
I don't think it would work,you don't think so.
I don't think he could beBatman.
I'm sorry, who do you thinkwould be a good Batman besides
Keanu Reeves?
I mean Henry Cavill will dowell I was going to say but he
does good at everything.
Yeah, I was going to literallysay that was going to be my pick
as well.

Speaker 2 (56:45):
Yeah, he does have that playboy nonchalant,
billionaire-esque vibe to him.

Speaker 1 (56:54):
That, or the guy who played Reacher In Reacher like
the new TV show, mm-hmm, I thinkhim.
He played in Titans as Hawk.
I'm like he could do a reallygood Bruce Wayne.

Speaker 2 (57:08):
Yeah, I guess.
So, yeah, I can't really thinkof anybody.
All the actors that I like arelike getting old.
Yeah, like in their 40s and 50s.

Speaker 1 (57:17):
I would really like to see Arnold Schwarzenegger
play Batman, batman.

Speaker 2 (57:22):
Oh, where's.
I would really like to seeArnold Schwarzenegger play
Batman.
Where's Rachel Get to theBatmobile?
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (57:32):
So really the only, in my opinion, dc worthy game to
really talk about, that's likeyou can rant and rave about, is
arkham.
Yeah, like so where we hadtalked about, where you had
kevin conroy voicing batman inthe 90s with the definitive
voice of batman in the same waywith mark hamill as the joker.

(57:55):
Yeah, they came both came backand reprised their roles in this
Batman video game franchise, like it's just the Arkham series
because it's Arkham Asylum,it's Batman Arkham Asylum.
Arkham City is the second oneand Arkham Batman the.
Oh, I gotta look it up nowbecause it's bothering me.

Speaker 2 (58:17):
What is the Okay?
The Batman who Smiles, arkhamKnight, arkham Knight, arkham
Knight.
Is that just a comic book?

Speaker 1 (58:24):
Yeah, it's just like an alternative.
I think it's Batman who got aJoker poisoning him or something
like that kind of thing, and sohe just kind of becomes Batman.
I'm sorry, joker, but it'sstill Bruce Wayne.

Speaker 2 (58:44):
Yeah, cause the only thing they got it in a fortnight
as a skin.
But I was trying to think ifthey had made a game or a movie
or or anything of it.

Speaker 1 (58:56):
That's kind of like spoilers for Arkham city and
Arkham night where, like, bruceWayne's affected with something
and seeing Joker everywhere, even though Joker dies in Arkham
City okay, and then he'shallucinating Joker everywhere
because he got infected withlike this Joker serum type thing

(59:17):
, gotcha.
But those games just fantastic,like.
It's like a the combat is likethis like you're going up
against crowds of people at once, you're just tearing through
them as batman, but then youalso have your sneaking sections
and your detective sections, yeah, where you're actually
going through and just likeinvestigating all these things.
But it's just like it startsout small where Batman goes in

(59:39):
Arkham Asylum in the ArkhamAsylum game to go bring Joker
back.
And then it was all part ofJoker's plan to get Batman there
because they had taken overArkham Asylum.
All the villains did and Batmanhas to stop them all.
Like, do they?

Speaker 2 (59:57):
have a crazy amount of Batman villains, or is it
like they've got a couple ofthem and then there's just a
bunch of generic?

Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
no, it's like all the villains.
So like penguin, two-face,poison, ivy, joker, uh, mr
freeze, killer, croc clay face, like they're just all there, you
know yeah it's so good and then, like, it just continues in the
second one where, like, thevillains are being so like

(01:00:26):
getting worse and worse thatthey end up sectioning off a
whole city as a prison for thevillains and then batman's
having to patrol that.
Yeah, and they do end up makinga fourth one called arkham
origins, but that one's not asgood, gotcha.
So, yeah, I just.
I just wanted to rant aboutthose games for a second.

Speaker 2 (01:00:45):
So what would you compare it to?
If you had to compare it toanother game, what would it play
?

Speaker 1 (01:00:50):
similar to Uh it's hard because it is the first
that did it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
Okay, so like you couldn't compare it to,
Assassin's Creed or no.

Speaker 1 (01:00:58):
You know the Spider-Man game that your son
was playing.
Yeah, it's a lot like that.
They kind of copied gameplayfrom Batman for that Spider-Man
game, okay, where you're kind oflike up against large groups of
people fighting them at once, and then there are sneaking
sections in that game whereyou're kind of swinging on the
ceiling and crawling to take outvillains and stuff.
It's very similar to thatGotcha Going around the city,

(01:01:22):
all that kind of stuff.
Except Batman is a little bitmore dark and gritty.
Where Spider-Man is kind of alittle more Dark and gritty,
dark and gritty, there is it'scrazy in Arkham City.
As Batman you're kind of justgliding through the city because
you have your grappling hook,so you go up and you kind of

(01:01:48):
glide around.
There is a random it's justcompletely uh, out of tone, yeah
, right, where you go and yougrapple and you start to go over
and this giant bat creaturejump scares you, oh, just out of
nowhere.
Is it man bat?
It's man bat, okay, it's justit's there and he just flies off
and it's like it scares theever-loving snot out of you,
right, yeah, and it just never.
It doesn't happen like that inany other game.
Dang like.
There's like weird creepymoments, yeah, but never like

(01:02:09):
literally a terrifying creaturejump scare like that moment.
Yes, it's completelyunwarranted and it never happens
again what's the scariest gameyou've played, like the most?

Speaker 2 (01:02:23):
the one that's caught you off guard the most?
Dead space, dead space.
Okay, yeah, I love dead space.
That was great game.
Mine was bioshock number one.

Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
Yeah, you talked about that before.
Yeah, and I played bioshocknumber one and I guess, like our
, like our fear, tolerance, solike what?

Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
no, the the very first time I played.
It was the very first time I'dever played a game like it and
it like the idea of just psychosare running around and you
can't do anything about it iswhat messed me up, because like

(01:02:59):
there's a good like two minuteswhere randomly someone will run
by you or they're stuck in anevent or something like that,
and like you can't run away oryou can't do anything, you just
gotta deal with it and let itpass, and then, like, after two
minutes of that, then there'sfinally, like you can do

(01:03:20):
controls and someone attacks youand you, whatever, whatever
what's really funny is that gameis not a horror game.

Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
It's not and it's not meant to be scary.
What you're talking about, nobut it's just just.

Speaker 2 (01:03:31):
I don't know.
The way that it starts is likeyou wash up on a very small rock
with a lighthouse on it.
Yeah, you go underground andit's just there's always a
lighthouse.

Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
Underground, something where a bunch of
psychos, so it's like anunderwater city.
Yeah, crazy.
Bioshock Infinite is the bestone.
It doesn't take place in a city, it takes place in the sky.
I love that game.
Yeah, great game, I rememberyeah.

Speaker 2 (01:04:00):
When you first got it .
Yeah, it was so much fun.

Speaker 1 (01:04:04):
yeah, that's cool man , yeah, that's pretty neat.
That's pretty neat.
So do you have anything?

Speaker 2 (01:04:08):
else to.
Uh, I'm gonna be honest, Ididn't do a whole lot of
preparation for this episodebecause I don't really know a
whole lot to begin with it'sthat I mean you kept up with me
in this conversation.

Speaker 1 (01:04:19):
Yeah, me personally.
I feel like I know, or I'veexperienced, more DC than I had
Marvel, but it's weird because Ifeel like when we went through
the conversation on Marvel, Iwas able to call things out
better by name than DC.

Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
Yeah, which, on that note, I need to apologize for
last week.
Hold on, hold on.

Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
Next, we have a segment, we call.
Let Me Apologize.

Speaker 2 (01:04:45):
John go ahead.
Nothing sappy about this one,but I kept on calling it
Fortress of Solitude for Marveland that's a DC thing.

Speaker 1 (01:04:53):
Yeah, that's a DC thing.
I thought you were doing thatas a joke.

Speaker 2 (01:04:56):
No, I know I did a lot of jokes during last week's
episode, but I genuinely messedup by calling it the Fortress of
Solitude.

Speaker 1 (01:05:05):
What was that in reference of?
Again, I don't remember.

Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
We were talking about the.
It was the thing for thewizards, so it was like the.

Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
Oh the.

Speaker 2 (01:05:16):
Shangri-La, shangri-la place, but they had a
name for it.
Just look it up.
I got to look it up, but Icalled it the Fortress.

Speaker 1 (01:05:26):
I thought you were making a joke and I just
couldn't call it out by name and, as we do, we typically just
don't the Sanctum something.
Yeah, sanctum Centaurium orwhatever.
Yeah, it was the yep, sanctum.
Yeah, you're right.

Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
Sanctum, yeah, you're right.
Sanctum Sanctorium, yeah.
So there you go, I totallybeefed that up which they've got
a Lego set for it.

Speaker 1 (01:05:56):
Yeah, I saw that.

Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
If you want to buy it .
They got a Lego set foreverything.
I feel like they really do Likethe fact that you can buy an
entire Hogwarts set is crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
What's crazy is like growing up they had those sets
but it was Hogwarts and you hadto get it in pieces.
So it's like this one's thisclassroom and this one's the the
Owlery, and then this one's thetree.

Speaker 2 (01:06:23):
What do you think is the most expensive Lego set?
Isn't it the Death Star?
It's the Imperial StarDestroyer.
It was something.
Star Wars no, hold on.
No, that can't be right, because it's just an article.
Most expensive Lego sets Lookslike yeah, you're right, the oh

(01:06:44):
no, this is millennium falcon.
Two thousand five hundred andthirty dollars.
Geez, that's crazy I think.

Speaker 1 (01:06:50):
Isn't that in spider-man the same thing that
ned drops and falls in a millionpieces?
Or was that the death?
That's the death star.
That's the death star.
Yeah, it's crazy because Legosaren't really toys anymore.

Speaker 2 (01:07:04):
But this Millennium Falcon's the same size as that
Death Star.
Yeah, like that's how big it is.
Yeah, I know what you'retalking about.
It's crazy, man, crazy.

Speaker 1 (01:07:15):
So, anyways.
Anyways, so Just moved.
I mean, what else else you wantto?

Speaker 2 (01:07:25):
say.
Say about the, the veryexpensive toy I can't ever have.
Yeah, that's true, I couldnever yeah, I could never.

Speaker 1 (01:07:28):
I've morally and just like personally, I just feel
like I couldn't justify a twothousand dollar thing that, yeah
, can fall apart easily yeah, that literally you're gonna.

Speaker 2 (01:07:41):
There's joy in building it and then it's just
going to sit on the shelf.
Yeah, you know that's how Ifelt because, like they came out
with the Dark Tower from Lordof the Rings, the eye.
I was like man, that'd bereally cool to get.
I was like I'm not going todrop $600.

Speaker 1 (01:07:56):
Yeah, how long is that going to be sit on a shelf
in your house?

Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
Exactly going to be sit on a shelf in your house,
exactly it's not.
And so and they did like therivendell set for like 500 bucks
or something, and it's likeit'll be cool to put it together
and have it present, but itwill be taken apart.
Nothing stays together at myhouse, yeah, so so yeah, is that
?

Speaker 1 (01:08:17):
uh, is that all you got for dc?

Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
that's all I've got for the DC episode 47.

Speaker 1 (01:08:23):
47.
Maybe Of the Saints that Servepodcast.
That's right.
That's right.
So Christ is Lord and thekingdom is oh.
In a city swallowed by shadows, only one man dares to wear the
cowl.
But which man?
Over the years, gotham'sprotector has worn many faces

(01:08:48):
Behind the cape and cowl.
Different voices has risen fromthe darkness.
Some whisper, some growl.
I'm Batman.
All of them are Batman.
In this challenge, we test yourknowledge of the men behind the
mask.
I'll read you a quote, a linepulled from the darkest corners

(01:09:11):
of Gotham's big screen history.
Your job, john Figure out whichBatman said it.
Keaton Belle or someone inbetween?
Oh, oh boy, the shadows havespoken.
Now it's your turn.
Let's play.
Which batman?

Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
said it okay here we go.

Speaker 1 (01:09:36):
surprise game number two all right, number two, all
right.
So yeah, I'm going to read youa quote from a actor who played
Batman.

Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
What is so?
Why did you give me?

Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
oh, this is the possible answers.
I actually gave you a sheet.
Yeah, I came extra preparedthis episode.

Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, Robert Pattinson
, Adam West, Ben Affleck, ValKilmer, Kevin Conroy.

Speaker 1 (01:10:06):
We left out George Clooney because we don't like
Clooney Dang.
No, okay.
So again, I will read you thequote.
Okay, and you got to tell mewhich Batman said it.
All right, they think I'mhiding in the shadows, but I am
the shadows.

Speaker 2 (01:10:21):
I'm going to say Kevin Conroy.

Speaker 1 (01:10:26):
That is Robert Pattinson in the Batman.
I didn't think you'd get thatone because you admitted to not
seeing that movie yet.
I've not seen that movie yet,so I'm going to do two voices
here, okay, okay.
I never said thank you, christian Booth, hold on, hold

(01:10:48):
on.

Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
I never said thank you, christian, hold on, hold on
.
I know I never said thank youand you'll never have to.
Just so we're clear.
It wasn't a girl who said that, that's just the voice I did
gordon all right, give me a good.

Speaker 1 (01:10:55):
commissioner gordon, I never said thank you and
you'll never have to.

Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
There we go.

Speaker 1 (01:11:02):
And that was Christian Bale in Batman Begins.
The next one Try fire.
That's how you defeat monsters.

Speaker 2 (01:11:14):
Try fire.
That's how you defeat monsters.
Yes, oh.

Speaker 1 (01:11:27):
Dude, I don't know Let.

Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
let's try for kevin conroy, again, that was ben
affleck.

Speaker 1 (01:11:29):
Ah, which, which movie uh, batman versus superman
okay, all right, the next oneI'm batman, oh uh, christian
bell michael keaton.
What from batman 1989?
Ooh, uh, christian Bale,michael Keaton.
What From Batman 1989.
Okay, but, yes, I know, butthey all say it, they do, but
he's the first one who did itand it was famous.

(01:11:51):
Okay, I said it like Bale, notthe way Keaton said it in the
movie I'm doing the Batman voice.
All right.
All right, number five, themovie I'm doing the batman voice

(01:12:12):

Even after everything you'vedone, I would have saved,
wearing hockey pads, adam west, christian bell, what the heck is
in dark night?
Where he was talking about?

(01:12:35):
all the vigilantes arepretending to be him.
Yeah, number seven I made apromise on the grave of my
parents that I would rid thecity of the evil that took their
lives.
Val kilmer, val kilmer, thatwas batman forever.
Oh man, okay, okay, some daysyou just can't get rid of a bomb

(01:13:02):

Speaker 2 (01:13:08):
Some days you just can't get rid of a bomb.
Kevin Conroy.

Speaker 1 (01:13:14):
Adam.

Speaker 2 (01:13:14):
West Shoot.
I even saw that I was like Iwant to say Adam West.

Speaker 1 (01:13:19):
But that was from Batman, the Movie from 1966.
Okay, all right, here we go.
Number nine you want to getnuts?

Speaker 2 (01:13:30):

Speaker 1 (01:13:34):

Come on Number 10.

Speaker 2 (01:13:44):
You can't get rid of a bomb by throwing it into a bar
full of people, kevin.
Conroy, adam West, come on,okay, so if it's got a bomb,
it's going to be.

Speaker 1 (01:13:53):
I'm sorry, bud, there's no more bomb ones Dang,
here you go.
Do you bleed you will?
Do you bleed you?

Speaker 2 (01:14:00):

Speaker 1 (01:14:05):

Speaker 2 (01:14:12):

going to make you look like afool.
I'm just kidding.

Speaker 1 (01:14:17):

several times was those threemovies.

Speaker 2 (01:14:47):

while.

Speaker 1 (01:14:51):
Number 14.
This city just showed you thatit's full of people ready to
believe in good Christian Bale.
There you go, thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:15:11):

So, robert Pattinson.

Speaker 1 (01:15:38):
Val Kilmer, number 17 .
You've eaten, well, you'veeaten Gotham's wealth, it's
spirit.

Yes, wow, look at there, number 18.
My anger outweighs my guilt.

Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
My anger outweighs my guilt.
My anger outweighs my guilt.
Who's an angry Batman?
Maybe Ben Affleck, kevin.

Speaker 1 (01:16:12):

Speaker 1 (01:16:44):

Ooh, that was.
That was a joke.

Speaker 1 (01:16:53):
Oh, okay, you ready for the last one?
I'm ready.
He never told you what happenedto your father.
He never told you what happenedto your father.
He never told you what happenedto your father.
That's all you're giving me.
Fine, I'll give you the nextline.

Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
He told me enough he told me you killed him.

Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
That's not batman no, I am your father so which
batman said it?
Uh, kevin conroy.
