Our 500th podcast and veryexcited tonight because we have
a lot of guests and I'm going togo up here and make this full
(02:28):
screen so everybody can seeTonight with us.
Roxy is in the house.
Woo, we've got Super Nash,we've got Nobs, we've got
Whiskey Doctor.
We've got Whiskey Doctor, we'vegot Whiskey and we've got
(02:49):
Bourbon Annie or Andimic andwe've got Greg Schneider in the
house tonight.
Welcome, everybody, welcome.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Yes, welcome, thank
you everybody to help celebrate
this 500th podcast.
500th, yeah, it's unbelievable.
I can't believe that we're here.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
So I had to go.
Speaker 7 (03:14):
I can't believe Jeff
can count to 500.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
I can't it.
Does it for me.
Hey Whiskey, he didn't.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
You see his
right-hand side, the person that
kept them all straight and look, you got your 500th coming up.
That's the one.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Roxy.
Speaker 4 (03:34):
She's the main.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Yeah, there's no
doubt there's.
I couldn't, I could have notdone this without Roxy, and it's
, it's been a wonderful ride,ride, hasn't it?
Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
It's so much fun.
It's so much fun from when westarted.
I mean, pretty much everybody'sheard the story about the
whiskey calendar, why we startedit.
It's just like going over, didn't really?
(03:58):
It was in 2018.
Never believed that, um, whiskeycould taste creme brulee and we
, we thought it was bs.
So we went out and startedbottled that.
That was young nose in me, uh.
And so I had art, you know, haddone an art video blog.
So we were just like let'spodcast about whiskey because it
(04:21):
was so much fun and we had goneto the bourbon festival and met
super Nash.
So our first podcast wasNovember 4th 2019.
And we did a podcast.
Believe it or not, 45 minutes,it was a 45.
That was what we were shootingfor and I set it up and we did
(04:42):
it and it was just audio.
There was no video at the timeand when we finished it didn't
save, for whatever reason.
It wasn't there.
So I looked at Young Nose and Isaid to him I said, well, in
(05:03):
the first episode that didn'tget recorded.
We were tasting early times, bottled in Bond, that was what
it was.
But when we actually did thefirst episode, which is only 15
minutes because we were alreadytoasted from the 45 minutes that
we had been on, and then we didLarceny that's the first.
(05:27):
Uh, that was the first podcast.
We we rated it, and so what'sreally cool is I still have what
was the barrel.
This was initially what we usedas the barrel.
It was called the barrel bashand we and we would bash on it
and actually when we started thepodcast, young Nose would, when
(05:49):
we were coming on, we would putdifferent songs on because
nobody cared at the time aboutcopyrights of somebody who was
getting 12 views.
So we did the larceny and itwas really cool because at that
time larceny had an app that youcould play and do things,
(06:11):
because it was about fitchgerald as the agent and all the
stuff that he was doing.
So that was the larceny.
Bottle was first and in honorof that I had done a bottle your
own, or bourbon, your, what isit called?
Nash at Heaven Hill.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
Bottle your own
bourbon.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Yes, so we had gone
there, myself, roxy and Xavier,
and we, we all picked it.
They picked, I believe, elijahCraig.
Speaker 9 (06:39):
Yeah, elijah Craig,
but.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
I really like this,
this Larson, we still have that.
Yes, we do.
Haven't opened that one either.
Oh gosh, so yeah, because.
So one of the things real quickRoxy does is we go and she
always picks really good thingsLike she's found some really
good coffee flavored bourbonsand cherry from Michigan and she
(07:01):
finds all these.
None of them are open.
Speaker 9 (07:05):
She does buy bottles,
but most of them will you know
which one I do want to opensomeday, is the my blend from um
.
Help me when we did our ownblend at the your t-shirt, uh
bourbon 30.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Bourbon 30.
Yes, we, it's right over there.
Speaker 9 (07:22):
I did a blend from
Bourbon 30 and the Bourbon 30
gentleman.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
I was the one that
took y'all there.
Yeah, you did.
Speaker 9 (07:29):
That was you, yeah,
and the gentleman was quite
impressed with my blend, we'vegot to go here yeah.
Speaker 4 (07:38):
At Bourbon 30 when it
was on the back alley and all
that little, that little garageopen yeah, and he came.
Speaker 9 (07:47):
He came to me and
said oh, I would have never
thought to put those together.
And uh, and you do.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Bourbon is what it's
called.
I even yes, there we go, allright, yes, so anyways, first
podcast like I said, we got thatstory the first podcast never
really hit, and then it was thesecond podcast, became the first
, and then wait.
Speaker 8 (08:12):
So technically this
is the five hundred and first.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
No, no, it never got
loaded.
I mean, if you want there's,there's what you've recorded
Five hundred.
No, I'm probably.
I've probably recorded, 535, 40.
I mean, sometimes they do getuh, they, they're classic tiny
late to the party no, these areokay.
(08:37):
Our 500th published podcast.
Yes, okay, we'll go withpublished.
Okay, that's assuming that youclick save.
Speaker 7 (08:45):
Yeah, so we're doing
it again next Tuesday, everybody
.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
No, it's actually
happening.
It's recording.
I can tell I've gotten muchbetter at it since that first
episode.
It's funny, so let's justevolve the people.
So first it was Young Nose.
Young Nose eventually moved toNorth Carolina and Xavier came
in.
(09:10):
We all know the story of Xavier.
We won't go into much detail, but at one point Xavier left and
at that point CT Well, superNash came in.
Speaker 9 (09:22):
Super.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
Nash actually came in
on the podcast.
Speaker 9 (09:25):
He inserted himself.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Yes.
Speaker 9 (09:27):
From South Carolina,
super Nash came in on the
podcast he inserted himself.
Yes, from South.
Speaker 7 (09:31):
Carolina, that's not
true.
I'm pretty sure HR's got apolicy.
Speaker 9 (09:34):
Oh, I know, I figured
if I opened the door.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Just a second on how
you said that Whiskey would
charge right in.
But hey, do you remember?
The day was actually december14th 2019 when I actually flew
up to to ohio and my wife wastelling me you don't even know
(09:59):
these people yes, I do?
and what did I tell jeff?
I've been talking with Jeff andhe is like my brother from
another mother.
I'm going to see him, I'm goingto stay with him, I'm becoming
part of this and I actually didand I became actually the
seventh member and it wasactually the sixth podcast of
(10:24):
the Scotchy Bourbon.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Boys.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
Yep.
Speaker 1 (10:26):
And.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
I came in and you
were like, well, we're going to
do a podcast.
And I said what?
Speaker 9 (10:34):
That's the one we set
up in the kitchen.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
No, we set nope that
podcast.
Speaker 8 (10:38):
No, it was in my
office, oh it was in your office
, in your office or in the?
Speaker 1 (10:42):
bedroom.
Speaker 4 (10:43):
That's when Sherry
got the bad news about her knee
had a hurt knee and, uh, we hadto take care of that.
But at the same time it waslike I brought up a bottle,
bottle of a, my initiation, which the thing to become part
of the Scotchie Bourbon Boys, yep, was.
(11:05):
You bring a bottle to open upwith the group and it was a
bottle of Blanton's Gold whichnobody had ever had up there.
Also at the same time I broughtup a bottle of a 1994 Booker's
Bourbon.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
The painting Booker's
.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
Yeah, that was in.
You know it was close to theserial numbers and that's how I
got to talking with Jeff when Isaw his painting at the Kentucky
Bourbon Festival and I justhappened to message him.
You know, out of the blue it'slike, hey man, it was like I
have a old booker's bottle closeto the serial numbers and we
(11:52):
just got to talking and next, you know, it's like I started
sending up bourbon to them, stuff they couldn't even get,
like 1792, foolproof.
You know that a buddy of mineowned a liquor store, had a
store pickup so I sent up awhole case.
You don't even know me, itdon't matter, you know, pay me
(12:14):
when you get it, stuff like that.
And then you know I startedsending up other bottles, yep.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
That's how I said
well, I've got to come up, you
know.
Speaker 4 (12:24):
So, yep, that's how I
said well, I've got to come up,
you know.
And then, like I say, I came upon December 14th 2019, and sat
down for my first podcast withthem and it was amazing.
We opened up, we tasted theBlanton's Gold, but then we
opened up the Booker's.
I let Jeff open up theBookerers and, uh, cork that was
(12:46):
the first cork I ever broke.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Actually, it's the
first dusty I ever tasted yeah,
and first dusty right there onthe podcast.
If you, if you listen to thepodcast, it didn't get it edited
out.
We had to go get toothpicks andstuff and we pushed it.
We had a wine thing pushed itthrough.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
Then we decantered it
, pushed the rest of it through
and then we poured it up and westarted tasting it and talking
about it that was, that was me,you and young nose and it was
amazing, that was your first, first podcast that was my first
ever podcast, being introducedto podcasts and everything and
(13:26):
and becoming a member of thescotchy bourbon boys and I'll
never, ever forget that momentand that weekend.
Like I say we uh.
It solidified us being brothersfrom another mother and we were
like family from then on andit's been amazing ever since.
I love you, brother, cheers wedo, we love you I love y'all too
(13:50):
.
Speaker 7 (13:51):
I love you like
family too so what that story
told me is all right now you cannow you really consider me like
an uncle, like an uncle.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Yep, oh yeah, all
right.
Speaker 9 (14:11):
So when Jeff told me
you were coming, I said if he
kills us when he gets here, I'llnever forgive you.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
Because you're living
like this complete stranger I
was in the same thing Into thehouse.
I said how?
Speaker 9 (14:24):
do you know he's not
like an elaborate scheme to rob
us.
He's gonna pull out a gun androb us at knife point it's
bourbon point.
Yeah, like I really didn'tthink that he's like, no, he's
so nice, he's, he's, he's thesweetest guy she was the same
way.
Speaker 4 (14:41):
It's like, oh my god.
Well, I'm so thankful you guysdid, I do.
I know jeff, we love you, andsherry, I know him, you know we
thought the same thing of greg,by the way.
Speaker 9 (14:53):
No, no, no, you
didn't no, so.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
So then we keep going
through and that 2020 hits and
we're in like this is thebeginning.
January is when the beginningof COVID happened, right and so
Greg.
Speaker 9 (15:10):
Yeah, which put an
end to all of our bourbon nights
on the deck.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Do you remember how
we actually had contact, like
like the first contact?
The first contact was itthrough Facebook, I think so I
don't exactly remember details,uh, but yeah, I again.
Speaker 5 (15:32):
it was just, I think
you and young knows, as I recall
, uh early on and uh at the timeyou know I was working with
Chicken Cock as their masterdistiller, which I no longer am,
but yeah, but, I, don'tremember the details.
All I know is kind of likeSuperdash said you know I've
(15:56):
been doing this for over in thisindustry for over 47 years and
it's such a great industry, wehave such a great brotherhood.
And even prior to COVID, whenCOVID hit, it just kind of
exemplified things.
But even prior to that, whenthe podcast started coming and
the business was booming andbourbon was just growing leaps
(16:20):
and bounds, you know that samebrotherhood kind of carried into
all of that.
And when you know I personallycouldn't do personal tastings or
bottle signing events ordinners or any of that, you know
we were relegated to ourcomputers and podcasts and it
just opened up a whole new world.
(16:40):
As I've told you many times, you know I'm the biggest low
tech redneck there is on thisearth.
Navigating computers or any ofthis stuff, but it's it's opened
up a whole new light and andI've said it time and time again
you know Rachel, jeff, you knowMartin, your whole group, I
(17:04):
mean everybody that's ever beenassociated with you.
You've done so much to shed anew light on this industry.
You know, promote the productsthat I've been involved with my
entire career and I can't thankyou enough.
I mean the relationship that wehave.
As Martin said, it's abrotherhood and I love you guys.
(17:24):
I enjoy conversing with youwhen I'm not on the show Youhood
, and I love you guys.
I enjoy conversing with youwhen I'm not on the show.
You know I listen in when I canand it's such a blast.
It's just, it's what I do andwhat I love, what I've learned
and, again, it's part of my lifefor so many, many years.
I'm just blessed to be a partof it and thank you for letting
me join in the party tonight.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Well, I think it
actually— Greg, thank you.
I mean you're involving us andaccepting us and just showing us
the way.
I mean we can't tell you enoughhow much you have attributed
and helped us along the way andintroduced us to so many people.
(18:09):
Yeah, we could sit here andtalk about all night long and go
over the people that you'veintroduced us to, that have
helped us along our path and andit's amazing.
And thank you, brother, andlike you said, you are a brother
and I appreciate you.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Yeah, same thing,
greg.
I do remember you contacted methrough a messenger about
Chicken Cock and asked if Iwanted to know more about it.
So then we started talking backand forth and you watched the
lot.
We were doing some Friday nightlives and you were watching
(18:48):
them, and so one you had givenme your number.
So we finished a Friday nightlive that you had commented on,
and so we had a bunch ofquestions about the process of
something like distilling, theprocess of something like
distilling, and so we called youup in your kitchen on a Friday
night while you were passing.
Speaker 5 (19:10):
I'm so sorry.
I kept you on the phone tillafter midnight.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
No, no, you were.
You came on the phone.
So you first it's in and you'resweating.
You got sweat on your brow.
And then you tell me well, I'mpassing'm passing.
Was it kidney stones?
Is that what you were passing?
You were passing, but so so soso we're, this is work.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
I didn't pass it.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
That's no they
weren't passing right, and so
you're in pain, you're sweating,and you're talking about
taloses.
And you're talking about you'retelling us about the product,
and we hung up and we're like,oh my God, we're so sorry.
And you're like, no problem,it's you know whatever, and so
we're just sitting there and so,oh, my gosh when you talk about
(19:58):
just another kidney stone, yeah.
Speaker 10 (20:01):
That sounds like a
best of episode.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
But it wasn't even it
was, it wasn't even on.
And then and then what happensis when we we started going down
to Kentucky through COVID wheneverything was was like there
wasn't tours and tastings andwhatever.
That's when, greg, that thatepisode at Bardstown Bourbon
Company was like a kickoff.
We went down there and you gotus with Steve Nally and Nick
(20:29):
Smith and in Pete's place orthat place.
So that's the time where Itasted the first time I ever
tasted, a bourbon that Icouldn't believe it tasted what
it tasted like.
And that's when you let mesample, before it was bottled,
the chicken cock 15 year.
And I remember taking a sipwhile I was cleaning up the
(20:51):
podcast.
And then I sipped it and I hadto look back at the bottle that
you had just poured becausethere's no way that it could
taste that caramely.
You know.
So you know we just kept.
You know it's never you andAlan.
I got to do a shout out to AlanBishop.
(21:11):
He can't be here because he'shad a flood at his house.
If anybody, if you go by onAlan Bishop's Facebook page, you
can find out if you anybodywants to donate to help him out.
He was completely.
His basement was underwatercompletely.
His car was a loss.
You know, he's just in theprocess of cleaning tonight and
(21:31):
he couldn't be here.
But between Greg and Alan itjust.
And then I will have to do ashout out to Martin Duffy, the
Crystal Glencairn glassrepresentative, because he would
put us in touch with otherpeople too.
He's like do you know thisperson or have you gone to this
person?
And we at first would justpromote you know, now we promote
(21:54):
glen karen's because that'swhat we, what we taste out of.
But that just was.
That was like the kickoff togoing and doing podcasts at
distilleries, something that wehadn't done, and it was um.
At the time the growth was itwasn't like we were a bourbon
pursuit or anything, or, youknow, or some of the bigger ones
(22:16):
, it's bourbon night, you know, anything like that.
But we grew quickly becauseeverybody was listening and
talking on podcasts, right andcan we back up just just a
little bit here?
Speaker 4 (22:29):
you know, when, right
after me, and and what you
actually started with is, andthe reason you started it right
was because we were we were justgetting into whiskey and
bourbon and we didn't knowanything about it, right.
And so it was like you know, and like the question you gave
to me.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Hey, nash, remember
the podcast where we did the
wrong mash bill.
Our biggest early podcast iswhen we said that what was it?
Blanton's was ancient age andwe almost got killed for saying
that because it's the wrong mask.
Speaker 4 (23:08):
Oh my gosh, it's just
like they just killed us in
bourbon.
But.
I'm like, really, because wedidn't do our research, really
we're just starting out.
But another thing was westarted this because we were
just getting into this and it'slike well, how do you pick out a
whiskey or a bourbon One?
(23:28):
Is like I told Jeff.
It's like, well, I got to, youknow, get a bottle off the
bottom shelf, pay $20 or $30,and it's like you know.
And then, well, what if youdon't like it?
Well, I guess it gets pouredout or it gets mixed with
something.
So it's like you know, well, weshould start tasting and doing
(23:50):
this live on Facebook, givingour own tasting notes.
And so that's how we actuallystarted was picking bottles off
the bottom two shelves, you know$20 or $30 bottles, and we tell
people a couple of days aheadof of time this is what we're
going to taste, this is thebottle we're going to taste this
week, right?
And then we'd just sit aroundand give our own tasting notes
(24:14):
and our own rating system off toa little barrel bashing bong
there.
So that's how we actuallystarted rating.
And then I started me beingsuper nash.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
I was traveling all
over and I was getting these
bottles and accumulating bottleslike people weren't getting at
the time, but you know becauseit wasn't so we wouldn't be the
scotchy bourbon Boys if itwasn't for you, super Nash,
because in the state of Ohio, ifyou don't know what you're
(24:51):
doing and we had no clue on howto acquire whiskey you actually
came up to the state of Ohio onone and showed me how to get in
a line, how to go about doingwhat it is to obtain the bottles
.
It's like bourbon hunting wasnot something that we even were
doing, but you were fueling allthe stuff that we got to taste
(25:16):
on the podcast and as we evolved.
You know, some days I'm like, you know, you gotta, you gotta
go back to basics, because asyou get bigger, there are people
who are just beginning and youcan't just be doing all the the
allocated stuff completely allthe time you got to.
Speaker 4 (25:34):
Really, you know,
keep going back to the roots,
but so that's, that's what justit just amazed me is like how
quickly it grew and overcame.
And then all of a sudden, nowwithin a year or two, we're
going to distilleries, we'retasting from barrels, we're
(25:57):
tasting stuff that peoplenormally don't get to taste and
stuff don't get to taste.
And stuff and our friend Greg, like I want you to taste this
from year to year to year youknow, as he's aging it and
distilling it and stuff likethat.
It just just amazing.
(26:19):
Stuff just started happening.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
Oh yeah, all the
different experiences where we
were um, talking to the peopleand as we became a little, as
our following grew, peoplestarted to recognize us.
But I will tell you, there wasa point where I was like, well,
there's, there's more thanbourbon in Kentucky, there's
(26:43):
bourbon in Ohio.
And this is where, yes, but, but, but I'm like, why am I not
doing stuff in Ohio?
And this is where Ann comes in.
Speaker 10 (27:00):
Not totally quite.
I still remember when our headdistiller, aaron Harris they
make an appearance tonight cameover to my desk and brought your
email address on a little sheetof paper and he said you should
talk to this guy.
Speaker 6 (27:20):
Oh, wow.
Speaker 10 (27:21):
Cool.
And then I went and found yourpodcast and I listened to an
episode where you had gone tobeam and it was some sort of
knob Creek and it was thislittle wild one, a little
sideways always does alwayssideways.
Speaker 4 (27:36):
Yeah, this guy sounds
pretty good no, no, no, no,
that is it, and and it's justbeen so much fun ever since you
guys came up.
Speaker 10 (27:49):
Several times we did
big podcasts, um, now I'm with
ohlq.
You are a huge supporter.
I think my favorite thing everwas your live streams from
sleeping in the parking lotsaturday and then during the
(28:09):
line, interviewing in line whatare you here to get?
And I think wasn't there somewoman who was like I'm just here
to buy tequila?
Speaker 2 (28:17):
or something.
Speaker 1 (28:19):
And I said to her you
don't need to stand in line for
that.
Speaker 10 (28:23):
She got stuck in
line that got shared everywhere.
Speaker 2 (28:28):
That was so funny.
Speaker 10 (28:30):
But I mean, I just I
love seeing all the stuff
you're doing and just such agenuine group of people.
You invited you and Aaron.
I just contacted them when Isaw what they were doing.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
They had come and
they were at, you know.
So the first thing when Icontacted Aaron was I said to
him, I said welcome to Ohio andit's great that you're here.
I do, I run a podcast.
But I said what are your plansfor Watershed?
(29:39):
And he kind of went in and Isaid so, are you going to be,
you know, reevaluating the tasteprofile?
And he said I've got a reallygood team to be tasting and, yes
(30:01):
, the profile, in my opinion, the inventory will be there to
be able to do some really reallygood bourbon and whiskey.
And I said, well, if that'swhat you're doing, I 100% want
to be a part of it.
And so at that point Aaron wassuch a down-home guy and he
(30:28):
contacted me.
He's going to be coming on nextmonth and he contacted me.
He's like you know, you're theone of the two or three people
that I will do anything to to wepush here and you know, with,
with Greg, and, and, and thenyou know we push that.
(30:57):
This is about this.
You know, whiskey is the glue, but friendship is the bonds.
You know, that's what you're inthis for is the people and the
people who make it, the people, you know people, people who
drink it, that make it, thepeople who sell it it's just
like the people in this industryare.
So what would you say?
(31:17):
True, right, genuine.
So you know, that brings uswhiskey right there.
He came on and he was part ofOHLQ Ann.
So, carl, are you there?
(31:40):
Yep, and, and we were having uh, I want to say we were doing a
tasting at the barrel house.
So he was in line and we kindof talked and he showed up at
the barrel house and I think wewere what do you remember what,
the what we were tasting there?
We tasted through a line, oneof the lines, of something that
(32:01):
she had anyways, but we put thattasting on and you know it's
the same place, greg, where youcame up and did the tasting for
Chicken Cock that one time.
So I met Whiskey and he kind ofwas like, hey, how's it going?
(32:23):
And he talked to me for a good15, 20 minutes and that's how we
started our friendship.
He just basically came on.
That's how we started ourfriendship.
You know.
He just basically came onWhiskey's I would say you know
we've done.
Comes to the festivals.
He's more of a what was.
He comes on on important times.
Speaker 4 (32:50):
He's been on the.
I think you were.
You know, if we're having, I'mgoing to bring free whiskey.
That's true.
He did get me a nice jerseythat I will.
I'll be wearing it next, nextweek.
Uh, to the chicago cubs game.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
Matter of fact, the
scotty bourbon boys jersey and
and our backdrop for our tent hesupplied, I mean, whiskey.
Whiskey supports us in verymany different ways.
Although we were just uh, wewere just in kentucky for a
podcast with ross cornellison atuh 1792, then we ended up at
(33:25):
rd1 the next day with uh barrybrinegar for a podcast, and then
whiskey thief withlisaoper-Wicker, and it was a
wild weekend, that's for sure, wouldn't you say Whiskey.
Speaker 7 (33:37):
Yeah, not only did we
drink a lot, we drank for a
very long period of time.
I don't think the human body issupposed to drink for 16 hours.
Speaker 6 (33:49):
I just don't think
we're built for that.
Speaker 7 (33:52):
I'm pretty sure God
didn't intend for that.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Not at our age.
Speaker 9 (33:56):
No.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
I don't know, think
for yourself, Nash.
Speaker 4 (33:59):
Oh yeah, I can't
forget.
I think you're as old as we are, but you're not.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
I don't know why we
lost.
I was going to the whiskeydoctor, but I want I was going
to the whiskey doctor, but I wasgoing to go.
Speaker 9 (34:11):
Okay, but you can say
Roxy.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Yeah well, it's your
turn.
Speaker 9 (34:14):
Well, don't do me yet
, because all of a sudden one
day you told me you were goingto somewhere with Walker and I
was like who's this Walker guy?
Like you're going somewhere andstaying in a hotel with some
guy named Walker.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
So tell them a little
bit about like how, how I met
walker.
Speaker 9 (34:34):
Yeah, how you met
walker?
Because that?
Speaker 1 (34:36):
because walker's like
you know walker was a was a guy
, was a fan on uh and he watchedus and he was contacting me and
so he basically was going tocome up for the Christmas party.
Speaker 9 (34:52):
That's right.
Speaker 1 (34:52):
So he definitely was
coming up and he contracted or
was came in contact with COVIDand he had.
He had because he had listenedto all the podcasts.
He felt like he knew us all, sohe had presents for us all.
He had presents for whiskey, had presents ct, super, net, um
and bottles.
I mean, we're talking about,you know, walker.
(35:14):
Walker loves to share whiskeyand here.
Speaker 4 (35:18):
Here's walker's words
.
Uh, on facebook he says I kindof showed up one night and never
left.
That was finally afterdiscovering the live stream,
after about two years oflistening.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
That's true well,
yeah, it evolved.
I mean.
So first it was once a week andthen I was about three.
It had to be about it.
I.
I had it started to catch onand I'm like, well, if I'm
getting 50 views or 50 listens aweek, if I do two podcasts I
(35:57):
can get a hundred.
So I started doing it twice aweek, but it would be
intermittent.
I mean I didn't always and itwasn't specifically on any day.
I mean I didn't always and itwasn't specifically on any day.
And then I started gettingcommitted to it and then at one
(36:18):
point we went Facebook Live.
We were always doing someFacebook Lives, me and Young
Nose.
So then, once Young Nose leftand Super Nash had become a part
of it, I didn't have anybodylocally to sit with me, like
Roxy's sitting with me.
So my friend who was totallyinto bourbon, xavier, he came on
, but there was some issues likehim looking like he fell asleep
(36:44):
or one night.
Greg, you could probablyremember it was Edwards, john
Edwards, I believe.
Speaker 7 (36:52):
Yeah, yeah, like the
psychic.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
No, no, we're talking
about the ex-football
linebacker on ESPN.
He does a bourbon podcast.
Speaker 10 (37:02):
I remember this was
a story about the psychic.
Speaker 1 (37:05):
Okay, yeah, but he
says to we're on and he goes
who's the?
He comes on and he's sittingthere and he does.
There's a comment that askedwho's the dead guy in the seat
and that was Xavier.
So Xavier got really upset but,you know, in defense of his
comment, like a month later hehad to have quintuple bypass
(37:30):
surgery so he would come on backand forth and whatever.
But then we were at 2023Kentucky Bourbon Festival, right
, was it 2023?
Yeah, it's coming up 24, 25.
Yep, this 2022 Kentucky BourbonFestival.
And there was just some disputeover something and he left the
(37:52):
show, but that was ct's time tocome on.
So it was almost as if, as heleft, ct entered and then but
the way we met ct was awfullyweird also because, yeah,
because that was through umsuper nash and walker.
He also just inserted himselfokay, yeah, but we're talking
(38:15):
about pappy you don't haveupside down pineapples?
Speaker 9 (38:21):
I haven't seen so we
were invited to mother stewart's
brewery by, um.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
Come on, what's?
What's his name?
Um, why am I having a problem?
It's a mental note, nash, who'suh ct's friend?
Come on, uh, andrew.
Thank the andrew cadman.
He he liked the podcast so heinvited us down.
It was a charity event atmother stewart's and we signed
um and me, xavier and roxy wentdown.
(38:53):
I smoked a cigar.
Yes, she did that's.
That's like her, only cigarthere's a picture somewhere, yes
, there, or there's actually areel, and so anyways, we're down
there and ct was there yeah, but he, he just came up and
started talking to us like hehad known us forever except for
the fact that he also told uswhich which sealed the deal is
(39:15):
that he could get pappy from thebarrel out of kentucky, and I'm
like you can get pappy from thebarrel out of kentucky.
I'm like, I'm in, I'll comedown anytime.
I mean, that's just likesomething that's.
Speaker 4 (39:30):
It's a true story,
because I've tasted it.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Well, yes, we have
tasted it.
But you know, everybody talksabout the Pappy Gate and it was
a wild turkey barrels.
Well, obviously, nobody knew, but a Pappy barrel or two
disappeared too.
So it wasn't just bottles,folks.
But there you go.
Speaker 10 (39:51):
We announced it, but
he said he could dan and greg
are sitting here shaking ourheads.
Speaker 5 (39:59):
I know the players
that were involved in pappy gate
.
So hey and uh, trust him as faras I can throw him.
So hey, get him well, I'm not.
Speaker 1 (40:08):
I'm not.
All I can tell you is whateverI did.
Taste was damn good.
But I will tell you anotherthing.
I'm not naming any names, I'mjust saying CT said he could get
some and he did.
Speaker 10 (40:20):
There's so much good
, not illegal whiskey out there,
like there's so much good stuffout there.
Speaker 1 (40:27):
Well, that one, that
one that you got, and that's
like like just the part of youthat you just like.
What, Wait, what?
Just taste it.
You know what that's it.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
Yeah, exactly.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
You would have
believed it.
Speaker 2 (40:43):
Okay.
Speaker 9 (40:47):
Now you can go back
to Roxy.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
Okay, so anyway.
So anyway, ct becomes part ofit.
And then Roxy, and he neverleaves.
So Roxy can tell you guys shewas there from the beginning.
Her answer was when I told herthat I was going to do a podcast
, she said you're going to whatRight podcast?
(41:15):
She said you're gonna whatright?
Speaker 4 (41:16):
but you know it's
funny because, because we did a
podcast early on, that's kind ofexactly about the same thing.
My wife said you're gonna dowhat?
Speaker 1 (41:21):
so, but early on she
wasn't a whiskey girl.
She didn't like whiskey, sheliked amaretto drank chardonnay
and amaretto but I would justlike come upstairs and let her
sniff it like just nose it andthen watch.
Yeah, but she would nose it andthen take a little sip and then
(41:45):
whatever, and eventually shegot into.
It tastes the same and what wasyour thing?
If you can't what?
Speaker 9 (41:50):
beat them, join them
right and she, but the times
that we would go down intowhatever, oh it was loads of fun
it was just such a blast, andit was actually my idea to go to
the very first bourbon festivalno, well, it was both, but but
you it was her idea.
It was my idea.
Speaker 1 (42:09):
Well, I had seen it
okay, so the calendar, so the.
So the calendar was september21st was my birthday, and on the
calendar it said the third weekin in kentucky is kentucky
bourbon festival and what andwhatnot.
So I had seen it and I'm like Ireally want to go next year
because obviously it washappening when I saw it on the
(42:31):
calendar, so about two weekslater.
Speaker 9 (42:36):
So I had had the
honor of being chosen as a
speaker at a birth conferenceand I had never done that before
, and the birth conference wasin Lexington, and so it happened
to butt up against KentuckyBourbon Festival.
Speaker 10 (42:56):
That sounds like
meant to be.
Speaker 9 (42:58):
Yes, and I said to
Jeff you know you wanted to go
to that bourbon festival and ithappens to butt up against the
birth conference that I'mspeaking at, so why don't we
just go?
Speaker 1 (43:13):
yeah, and I spent
every single well, I took every
single cent for a year.
Yeah, he's, and stole it away.
Speaker 9 (43:22):
Yeah so he would cash
his check, give me some money
and then squirrel some away likewe were, you know, any poorer
at the time yeah, yeah, he didup to I.
I I saved up five my career wasnot booming like it is today.
Speaker 1 (43:38):
I bought all the
tickets to go to go to the beam
dinner and a beach lunch I andthen I also had the secret
bottles from supernav four grand.
I saved up four grand so Icould go to the auction and buy
whatever bottles I wanted.
So that was like.
Speaker 9 (43:57):
But we didn't
actually buy anything at the
auction, though.
Speaker 1 (43:59):
But we did the
Kentucky Bourbon Trail, we did.
Speaker 9 (44:04):
I was at the
conference.
Speaker 1 (44:05):
I finished it.
Speaker 9 (44:06):
Yeah, he finished the
Bourbon Trail.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
But we did Lexington,
we did Louisville, and at the
time it was 16 distilleries with18 places to go, and we did
Louisville and Bardstowntogether.
And then when we went toLexington, you were there, I did
all of Lexington, but I had togo to Ozzie Tyler, which is
Green River, and Green River isin Owensboro.
(44:29):
So I got lucked out becauseOwensboro is in a different time
zone.
So I finished the trail.
So when I came back from thetrail, that's when I met Super
Nash, that's when we started thepodcast, and so, as we've done
the podcast, I have to say, roxy, you've been nothing but
spectacular.
You've really, you know, beenso supportive of this um, kept
(44:53):
me in line so that, um, I can dothis without becoming an
alcoholic.
You know, that's what you need, you need that.
But you know, cheers, let's,everybody cheers roxy, because
there's she, she's done herspecial things.
So we've got knobs on tonightand I can't say that he hasn't
(45:15):
been a part of this for a long, long time, even before it
started here in 1999.
Speaker 2 (45:22):
One second, one
second.
Speaker 4 (45:24):
I just want to give a
big shout out to Mrs Super Nash
here, because I couldn't do anyof this without her too.
Speaker 1 (45:32):
Cheers to Sherry.
We love you.
Speaker 7 (45:37):
Honestly, you tried
to do it without her and she
came anyway.
Speaker 1 (45:45):
You're exactly right,
so I'll ask you, greg.
Speaker 4 (45:50):
She was in the same
boat that you were.
She never liked whiskey oranything like that, and she was
like you don't know anythingabout whiskey and bourbon.
Well, I'm going to learn.
She's always been from Ventura, california and stuff.
But now she does like a littlebitura, california and stuff.
(46:11):
But now she does like a littlebit of bourbon and stuff and
especially my smoked OldFashions that I make.
Speaker 1 (46:16):
And she likes that
Pappy or that Van Winkle 12.
She likes the Van Winkle 12.
Wait, wait.
Speaker 9 (46:27):
Seeing knobs on the
screen, doesn't he look like the
perfect combination of both ofus?
Speaker 8 (46:35):
You cannot say he's
got a goatee, maybe.
Speaker 1 (46:42):
Anyways, he looks
like Tiny.
Speaker 9 (46:44):
He looks a little bit
like Roxy yeah he does, he
definitely looks like he belongs.
Maybe bald with a blonde goatee.
Speaker 5 (46:48):
Looks like he belongs
.
Speaker 1 (46:50):
Maybe bald, with a
blonde goatee.
Believe it or not, he has myhair that I had when I was 26
years old.
Speaker 9 (46:59):
Yes, that hair used
to be on this head.
Speaker 7 (47:01):
Oh my God, honestly
you should get it back.
Speaker 2 (47:05):
Why is it that the
boy of the family gets the
beautiful ringlet curls rightAnn.
Speaker 8 (47:11):
Well, what Not the
girls?
Not the girls?
I lost it at 30, and I'm at 26,so I'm at a pretty good.
Speaker 1 (47:19):
No, you got it wrong
40.
Speaker 9 (47:21):
37.
The island started separatingfrom the mainland at about 37.
Speaker 1 (47:28):
And I had told my
cousin.
Speaker 7 (47:30):
This is the 500th
episode I gotta say and I had
told my cousin.
This is the 500th episode I gotto say from a behind the scenes
point of view.
Not everything we do makes itinto a podcast, and there are
some things that should probablybe better left unseen.
(47:50):
But, jeff, you need to.
You need to allow me to sharemy screen.
Speaker 1 (47:53):
Oh no, here it comes,
do it, do it.
Okay, hold on, hold on.
I got to let them.
Here it goes.
I'm going to give youpermission.
Speaker 2 (48:05):
Oh God, here, oh God.
Speaker 1 (48:06):
I'm going to be in so
much trouble, although, are we
going to talk about are we doingsomething from Halloween.
Speaker 5 (48:16):
This is entertainment
.
Whiskey has started straight oh.
Speaker 7 (48:22):
Maybe there's just
sometimes that I mean look at
those Holy cow, Holy cow, that'sa whole lot of, that's a whole
lot of.
Speaker 9 (48:32):
Nipple, nipple,
nipple, nipple, nipple, nipple,
nipple, nipple.
Speaker 8 (48:37):
Geographic
documentary.
Yeah, are there whale noise in?
Speaker 2 (48:42):
the background.
Speaker 7 (48:43):
Yes, I know, yeah, so
I'm just going to say, yeah,
that's a whole lot of us therethey go, there it goes.
Speaker 1 (48:58):
Yeah, I would say so
too.
Speaker 7 (49:02):
Honestly, I haven't
seen breasts that big since the
last time I went to a strip club.
Oh my God, oh my God, anyways.
Speaker 1 (49:07):
So did we lose Ann?
Oh my God, oh my God.
Anyways, so did we lose Ann.
Thank you, Whiskey, for sharingthat.
Okay, she's back, she's back.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
Sharing is caring,
right yeah, sharing is caring,
it doesn't get wrong.
Speaker 1 (49:29):
She didn't want to
see all that.
Speaker 4 (49:32):
What you care about
is an old, old story.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
All right.
So Knobs has been the newestaddition because I really feel
that it's kind of cool to bringin somebody younger.
Our actual demographic is 24 to35.
That's our main demographic.
Uh, sometimes, when I look atall the different places that we
(50:00):
have um, what, what happened?
Okay, where we have um, hold onall right.
So, oh my gosh, I don't have noidea.
Speaker 8 (50:12):
I came in and how
many episodes before I was in
here, could you just not hearthe barrel bashing?
Speaker 1 (50:18):
well, well, I mean,
he was he.
He knew I was doing this soearly on 470 what yeah something
yeah, so yeah him yeah 470something
yeah, so him and his friendJacob, who we would call, who we
called the kid, and at the timeyou like Jen um Talk about,
(50:43):
about the cock flock, the cockflock up.
Right that episode.
But, um, you know, actuallyactually Greg met Jacob and Nobs
early on because we had anepisode.
I'm sorry, greg.
And so the young people havethe younger generation has a
(51:09):
different whole take on what'shappening with bourbon, but the
key is that I have, like Iconverted my wife, I converted
my son into a bourbon enthusiast.
Speaker 8 (51:24):
You give enough free
bottles away.
What am I going to say?
No.
Speaker 1 (51:28):
You actually did Just
a minute.
Speaker 9 (51:31):
Every time we went to
a distillery, I brought you
home a bottle of gin.
Speaker 8 (51:35):
Right, I know they
were very good bottles.
A lot of distilleries do ginreally well.
Speaker 1 (51:41):
Actually.
Speaker 10 (51:43):
And OHLQ is having a
series of gin events next
weekend.
Speaker 8 (51:50):
My wife is still a
liker of gin More than bourbon.
We're working on it.
Speaker 10 (51:58):
If Ellie ever joins.
Speaker 9 (51:59):
I got a name for her.
Her name is Stitch.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
Stitch, I'll see how
she likes that, yeah, but I will
say, and you're right, I willsay the best gin is being made,
probably at craft distilleries.
Yes, craft distilleries do somecreative things with gin to
(52:24):
make it actually.
For me, I mean, I'm just forone, I'm out on clear spirits
because of the health concern.
Just kidding, anyways.
But at the same time, if you're, if you're, if you love bourbon
, and then you like some rise, and then you're, you're tasting
(52:46):
Japanese scotch, you know, youjust can't.
Whatever Israeli is going to beon with soon, with the whiskey
doc, or Irish whiskey which.
Which we did which which whichOhio.
So and I've noticed Ohio hasjumpstarted Irish whiskey
(53:08):
because it's actually actuallyI've seen articles on that it's
becoming hot like the irishwhiskey.
You guys kind of showed themwhat they needed to do to sell
more irish whiskey in in theunited states yes, yeah.
Speaker 10 (53:24):
So irish casking
craft was really fun and we had
a whole bunch of distillers comeover here.
They brought single casks theybrought.
It was basically like createdfor the bourbon enthusiasts.
That being said, some of thetop selling things at our irish
cask and craft events were theirish gin.
(53:46):
Yes, so funny.
Um.
So we have gin topia coming up,not this weekend but next
weekend, and we have some somenew.
Well, we have some of ourfavorite irish gins are going to
be there.
We have some some other craftgins and we have some new
(54:08):
scottish gins that are coming in.
There's one in particular.
I should run downstairs and goget the bottle.
I'm so excited, but veryexciting, absolutely.
Yes so we can all be ecumenicalabout spirits.
Speaker 4 (54:26):
Yeah, absolutely, we
all love bourbon.
Speaker 10 (54:28):
We know that.
Yeah, yeah, we all love bourbon.
Speaker 1 (54:31):
We know that, yeah,
yeah, no, there's a place for
good quality spirits, just like, for instance, tequila aged in
bourbon barrels, you know, ormezcal.
They've really, I think, one ofmy favorite things, other than
(54:51):
I was always a rum guy.
I always said that I shouldhave been a pirate, because, you
probably were in a past life I,I can drink rum all day long
and it doesn't.
I wake up then.
It just has no ill effects onme.
So and that's what I drankearly on, uh, before I started
getting into absent then bourbon, bourbon.
But what Turner Wathen does andthat was one of the cool things
(55:15):
having Turner on what he doeswith rum and then ages it in
some fantastic Woodford 00 casks, weller casks, pappy casks,
casks, weller casks, pappy casksand that just changes that rum
(55:36):
to be that perfect marriage ofbourbon with rum.
Rum already has all the vanillaflavors in it, you know, and
then you put in the caramelflavors from that bourbon and
it's some spectacular kind ofthings that go on and so kind of
uh things that go on.
(55:56):
And so you know, here that'sone thing that was really cool.
It's like with this year wewere ranked the 16th best
bourbon uh podcast, uh, outthere out of 100.
We we went from 31 to 16 thisyear.
But in as far as whiskeypodcasts, where you taste all
whiskeys, we were ranked numberthree out of the 60 whiskey
(56:19):
podcasts that are out there.
Speaker 4 (56:22):
So getting that
ranking, I'd like to add we're
in the top 50 bourbon podcastnow in the world and we are in
the top 70 distillers podcast inthe world.
I just got that email about sixweeks ago.
Speaker 9 (56:42):
Awesome.
Speaker 1 (56:43):
What was that Ann?
Speaker 10 (56:46):
It was like wait,
what's number two, what's number
one with that one?
Speaker 1 (56:51):
They were Scotch.
They were Scotch, they were inScotland.
Speaker 9 (56:55):
Scotland.
Yeah, there was a podcast fromScotland.
Speaker 4 (56:58):
And I'd like to add
something to what Anne was
saying is that you know, honestly, without vodka and gin
really bourbon and whiskey thisindustry, you know they need
those to survive in theirindustry because it takes so
(57:19):
long for bourbon and whiskey toage in the barrels and they all
produce vodka, I texted him Mostall of them produce those at
the distilleries.
Texted in Most all of themproduce those at the
distilleries and to sell them asthey age their bourbon and
whiskey.
So, and you know us, we love topromote the industry.
Speaker 10 (57:41):
That's what we're
here for Well some feel
compelled to release thingsbefore maybe they're ready, and
so having a great gin, thingsbefore maybe they're ready, and
so having a great gin, having agreat vodka allows them to let
things linger in the barrelmaybe a little longer.
Speaker 8 (57:58):
Yes, Well for the
distillery in my backyard, the
Iron.
Fish they have a great gin.
It's fantastic.
Speaker 10 (58:10):
I have that one
downstairs.
Speaker 8 (58:12):
Oh yeah, that's 10
minutes away from me.
Speaker 1 (58:13):
It's right in my
backyard oh well, and where you
live.
So so, yeah, where he lives, and you're up there in michigan
too, so you, so we went the thispast, when we were up there two
weeks ago, and we're going upand I'm going to do a podcast
with jeff.
Um, either the friday we get upthere or the monday it looks
(58:34):
like it might be the monday, butat the same time, what the?
You know, what I found, andgreg, and and and it I'll just
say this is that, as a craftdistillery starts what, what or
or a starts up, you're dealingwith a lot of stuff that a brand
(58:59):
that's been around forever isno longer dealing with, and
you've got to get that jumpstarted.
And what you've done, greg, nowyou're going into your second
term.
As far as doing that One, it'slike you got one.
You got to have somebody whoknows good whiskey and Anne you
(59:21):
can talk about.
I was.
I was very proud of you thisyear because you got to do the
Ascot Awards.
A judge on the Ascot Awards, right.
Speaker 10 (59:35):
Oh, my goodness, I'm
sitting here listening and I'm
like, yeah, I'm a 23 year old.
If you invited my kid on here,I'd hear similar things, yeah,
so I got to do the ascot awardsthis year.
I did it last year, but thisyear, I did it last year, but
this year I got to go to thefinals where we taste through
everything, and that is a greatseries of spirits, because
(01:00:00):
everything is blind.
So there's no influence offantastic packaging which I love
and it really is on what is theliquid, what's the quality of
the liquid compared to otherthings.
Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
so, and it was a
great group of tasters- oh,
awesome, yeah, and it was justlike actually her highlight.
She did what she needed to doto get get highlighted.
It was, it was complete she.
She talked about some, but whatsay what your highlight was?
It was about you were gonna.
If you were, you were gonna.
Speaker 10 (01:00:35):
You brought it right
in in two full days of tasting
and we're spitting as we'redoing this, but in two long days
of tasting one little clip gotpulled out where I offered to
fight the other judges over.
If anybody's pulling this out,I'm gonna fight you that was the
(01:01:01):
big highlight reel so and Ilove fred, gotta love, that's
awesome yes, got a good stick toyour guts, that's right well,
that's our personality.
Speaker 1 (01:01:13):
It's like what greg
said stick to your guns.
Speaker 10 (01:01:15):
That's awesome it
was pretty funny because that
was from the first day and weshared an uber over to where we
were filming the second day.
Fred's in the car and he's likeI really didn't expect a new
judge to bring the heat likemaybe you did.
Speaker 1 (01:01:34):
Brought the
personality.
It was fun.
All right, nobs.
All right, nobs.
Tell me what your.
So give the perspective of yourwhole time, from the start to
finish.
Oh, no.
Speaker 8 (01:01:49):
You could just the
start to finish, because you
could, just so I was.
I was only attracted to gin atfirst because they hated it, and
that's the one thing in thecabinet they didn't really
notice was gone.
So, as a 16, 17, 18 year oldyou, I won't say anything more
(01:02:10):
than that, you know, it's just.
You could take the bottle andno one would say anything.
Everything else, the rum,especially.
At that time there would behell brought down on you, of
course, but it wasn't until thepandemic where I turned.
I think it was actually wasn'tmy 21st birthday.
(01:02:31):
It was actually.
Was it my 21st birthday, dad?
Or was it my 22nd birthday?
Speaker 1 (01:02:36):
You got me the bottle
.
No, that was your 21st birthday21st birthday.
Speaker 8 (01:02:40):
My 21st birthday my
dad got me a Knob Creek that was
bottled on the day I was born.
Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
It was barreled later
but it was bottled on the day
you were born.
Speaker 9 (01:02:53):
No barreled on the
day you were born.
Speaker 8 (01:02:55):
Yes, barreled.
I still have that bottle.
It's upstairs right on mylittle end table, right you know
, shown off still.
But that was going to be duringCOVID and that was my first
introduction to it and it wasterrible.
At the start I was I was buyingnot your father's root beers
(01:03:17):
and putting a shot of cause.
All I knew in college was shots.
I was putting a shot of it intoa not your father's root beer
just to increase the proof, andit wasn't until much later on
that I realized gin gave me badhangovers.
Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
I explained this to
you a couple times.
Why?
Speaker 8 (01:03:42):
Yes, you have, but
bourbon didn't.
So, even though I didn't likethe taste of it that much- I
would rather have a Knob 9 thana gin, because I would wake up
the next morning feeling better.
And then, as time went, on.
I got a wife, a family, a house,a lot more responsibilities.
(01:04:05):
It was it started to tastebetter.
I don't know if it's just, youknow, the palate changing of me
getting older or if it was, youknow, drinking enough of it got
me to taste different things init.
But of course, every time Iwould visit my dad he'd give me
(01:04:31):
what.
Of course, every time I wouldvisit my dad, he'd give me what
three or four pours at first Ireally liked.
I mean chicken, cock, the cock, the cock.
Flock me, jacob and you.
Uh, that was like the first, really big, like okay, this is
tasty, this is something thatisn't.
You don't need a chaser rightafterwards, you know.
You don't need a coke or aMountain Dew to wash out the
(01:04:51):
taste out of your mouth.
You can actually enjoy it.
Speaker 1 (01:04:56):
That's a shout out to
Greg right there.
Speaker 4 (01:04:59):
I was about to say.
I guarantee you, greg candefinitely tell you exactly why
it tastes better and why bourbonand whiskey is so much more
palatable.
Speaker 5 (01:05:14):
So I remember that
podcast.
Speaker 3 (01:05:16):
Yes, you do.
Speaker 5 (01:05:17):
I do and you know I'm
thinking, I'm listening to
these guys.
You know kind of I won't saynovice, but young bourbon
breakers, and there were somecomments made and some sarcastic
(01:05:38):
notes about the name and Tinyyou'll remember this I said I
told Seth Drake, I said, oh,grasshopper, you need to live
and learn and experience andenjoy what you have been
(01:06:01):
provided.
Speaker 6 (01:06:05):
Greg did.
He know what grasshopper meant.
Speaker 2 (01:06:08):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:06:09):
You remember?
Speaker 1 (01:06:10):
Kung Fu oh, we do,
but he has no idea.
He has no idea, do you?
Speaker 8 (01:06:19):
wax on, wax off, yeah
no, that's we're talking.
Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
We're talking about
david caridin and kung fu yeah,
way before that grasshopper likethe 70.
Speaker 7 (01:06:31):
Honestly, you're
probably lucky he didn't throat
punch you.
Speaker 9 (01:06:39):
You know what my dad
would, because I was always a
night owl.
We'd stay up late and watchkung fu movies in the 70s, from
like when I was 10.
And he loved the 70s kung fu.
Speaker 1 (01:07:02):
Was that on, and then
Starsky and Hutch right after
that.
Speaker 6 (01:07:08):
And then MASH after
all that.
Speaker 1 (01:07:11):
Yeah, mash, m it was
a late night, yeah for me late
night was george lopez all right, so we got, so we um so our
(01:07:33):
newest.
Speaker 4 (01:07:34):
We've got uh knobs in
and roxy and tiny we gotta get
whiskey.
Doctor let's listen.
How about whiskey?
Whiskey, let's listen to.
I mean, tiny said a little bitabout how he met you, but let's
hear a little bit of take onwhat you've got to say about
(01:07:57):
coming into the Scotchie BourbonBoys.
Speaker 7 (01:08:01):
I'm just glad to be
here.
Hope I can help the ball club.
Speaker 1 (01:08:06):
And you 100% do that.
Provide us with unlimitedentertainment.
Speaker 9 (01:08:12):
Yes, 100% do that and
I, and so Provide us with
unlimited entertainment.
Speaker 1 (01:08:14):
Yes, you are
entertaining sometimes.
Speaker 7 (01:08:22):
You know, you know on
that note Jeff before you
finish that thought, I just wantto tell you that the real
origin of this podcast isbecause Jeff tried to become
famous a bunch of different ways.
So, for instance, here is Jeff.
Oh God, he tries to become TinyWoods.
Speaker 2 (01:08:43):
Did you miss the ball
altogether?
Speaker 1 (01:08:46):
Yeah, yeah, no yeah,
that was a practice stroke.
Oh, that's a 10-year-old.
Speaker 7 (01:08:51):
Oh, it happened, that
was a practice stroke.
Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
That's a tenure that
was just recent.
Speaker 7 (01:09:02):
I mean, come on.
So his career as Tiny Woodsdidn't work out so well, and so
here we are, he's Tiny ofscotchy bourbon boys instead.
So there you go that wasperfect, perfect but okay.
Speaker 1 (01:09:16):
So we've got.
We've got the whiskey doctorhere and he is the newest
addition and uh walkerintroduced me to uh him and one
of the things that he's veryunique he comes with a huge
(01:09:41):
amount of knowledge based off oftraveling around this country.
Here's an example Two weekendsago he was in Florida he lives
in Florida and Dan Garrison wasthere for a tasting.
He went there and met him andDan invited him to the special
(01:10:07):
Saturday party.
It was an event to raise moneyfor the flood victims of Texas.
Because Garrison Brothers is inTexas.
He basically hopped a flight, had a 15-hour delay, drove to
Garrison Brothers, met DanGarrison as he was leaving the
event, set up a podcast and hadDan send us a bottle of the
(01:10:33):
Guadalupe.
So we are going to have DanGarrison on at the end of the
month and that's the kind ofstuff that the whiskey doctor so
.
But my idea to get him on thepodcast was he loves other
whiskeys he has so hiscollection.
He loves bourbon to an extent.
(01:10:54):
That's crazy.
I still can't believe that hiswife lets him get all the
bourbon that he gets, but shedoes.
But he also picks up otherwhiskeys that I would never ever
have a shot at.
So, anne, do we sell an Israeliwhiskey here in Ohio?
Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
Do not know.
Speaker 1 (01:11:18):
No.
Speaker 6 (01:11:23):
So M&H, which stands
for milk and honey, is an
Israeli whiskey that Total Winescarries, I know for sure, so
it's pretty readily available.
So I would think that may beone that you guys have.
Speaker 10 (01:11:39):
So we just there was
an app for that.
Speaker 1 (01:11:44):
You did just recently
, just recently there is.
So the one you, as Ann opensher.
So one of the things that'svery unique, um, about the
whiskey doctor, and so I came upwith it, was whiskey without
borders.
So once a month, uh, we aregoing to to.
(01:12:09):
Our first was last month.
It's going to be the beginningof this, is it?
Oh, no, actually it's onceevery two months because of the
shipping that he has, and whenwe meet or whatever, we're doing
it every other month.
But we're going to behighlighting different countries
and I believe the first Tuesdaycoming up in August, we will be
(01:12:32):
highlighting the M&H whiskeyfrom Israel.
So it's like talk about Randy Imean I remember the first time
I met you and talk about how youlearned about the Scotchy
Bourbon Boys.
Speaker 6 (01:12:53):
Well, my phone just
blinked at me 15%.
Um, I'll do what I can.
When I die I'll go grab mycharger.
I just came straight up to theroom but I met walker in line at
heaven hill one saturdaymorning it was supposed to
friday night slash saturdaymorning it was supposed to be
raining at 3 am so I went outand bought bought a 5x7 patio
(01:13:16):
umbrella and set it up out thereand put my cot up under it.
Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
And.
Speaker 6 (01:13:20):
I wake up in the
middle of the night and look,
and there's this guy sittingbeside me.
And I look at him and he's aclean cut and I thought, well,
he's either military or a Nazi,We'll find out.
So we start talking.
I find out he's a captain inthe yard, so we get it off
(01:13:41):
because my dad was.
Speaker 8 (01:13:43):
Army Colonel.
Speaker 4 (01:13:45):
Hey, welcome Aaron.
Oh, hold on.
Speaker 1 (01:13:50):
Why did you all
listen?
Speaker 6 (01:14:00):
Aaron, you are not
muted.
Oh Aaron, You're filling peoplein Once you get inside.
Speaker 1 (01:14:04):
I don't even see him
yet Wait.
Speaker 7 (01:14:10):
But I don't actually
see him on the you should he's
coming in and like they willhave them, but I don't actually
see him on the you should.
Speaker 1 (01:14:20):
Do you see him over
here?
Do you see Aaron?
That's alright.
I want him to come on, I willuh figure it out when he comes
on.
Speaker 7 (01:14:39):
And yeah, he can't
talk okay, the microphone's not
on yet I met walker in line.
Speaker 6 (01:14:47):
We started talking.
Uh, he had me start watching apodcast and the first podcast I
was actually on.
I was driving up to tennesseeand then probably on up to
kentucky and I decided to go upthrough south carolina and it's
it's to drop a bottle off tosuper nash and it's snowing, and
(01:15:10):
he's in the middle of nowhereand I walk in just to drop the
bottle off and he says pull thechair up.
So then, we're actually lookingat the three Revival and Refuge
and the other Angels Envy inthat little trio that they have.
(01:15:32):
We were reviewing that and thenit was late and I kind of felt
like Roxanne.
Speaker 4 (01:15:43):
He invited me to
spend the night so I didn't have
to drive.
There he is and I'm like he'slike hey, is this guy trying to?
Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
get me in here.
Speaker 6 (01:15:51):
I didn't lock the
door.
I'll admit I locked the door inthe bedroom Like that's really
going to stop somebody if theywant in.
But we've become a great friendever since.
Can't wait until next week whenwe're all together at baseball,
looking very, very forward tobringing some wonderful whiskeys
(01:16:12):
from Europe, from Asia, fromNew, from Asia, from New Zealand
, from Australia Just all over, looking forward to the next year
or two.
It's going to be great fun.
Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
So yes.
So it was like through Walkerwe met.
And then I would say, initially, when I when I met, so I met, I
remember talking to randy atour airbnb and he started
(01:16:46):
talking about craft distilleriesand he started asking me if
I've been here, if I've beenthere.
At one point I was like afterlike the 35th craft distillery
he was telling me about, I waslike I'm like that's a lot of
(01:17:09):
craft distilleries, randy and Ikind of whatever.
So when I talked to Walker,he's like yeah, he knows a lot
about whiskey.
So I was very happy to meetRandy and I would say, randy,
you have fit in very well.
I am glad that I met you.
(01:17:31):
It's like it's always good toget a text from you, because
this man is in between.
So he he's not working at themoment, he's retired, but he got
his doctorate degree and he'slooking for a job.
But until he gets the job he isgoing to be all over the United
(01:17:54):
States.
There's no place.
I don't think he will go to getyou know.
He's like.
I'm like are you coming on?
He's like no, I'm going to bedriving to this thing.
And I'm like, well, you shouldcome to this thing.
And he's like well, but I wantto be in line for this.
I'm like I promise you thiswill be better than a line Now.
He, he.
So far he follows my advice, soit's been.
(01:18:14):
It's been really good.
Uh, the whiskey doctor um,great to have you a part of of
what's going on.
So good to be with all of you.
Aaron harris has joined us andhey guys.
Speaker 4 (01:18:30):
Hey, everybody
welcome.
Aaron harris from green,everybody welcome.
Speaker 1 (01:18:36):
Aaron Harris from.
Speaker 8 (01:18:39):
Green River.
Speaker 6 (01:18:50):
I'm going to mute for
just a second and go get my
luggage so I can get my charger, because my phone's going to die
otherwise.
Alright, bro.
Speaker 1 (01:18:58):
So, Aaron, so I would
say that how we met, it's like
you.
I saw on through Facebook thatyou had become the master
distiller at Watershed and Ibasically looked you up on
(01:19:22):
Facebook and I friended you.
You accepted my friendship andI'm like hmm, he regrets that
ever since.
I can messenger this guy.
He's not shy, he's not shy.
Speaker 9 (01:19:37):
He's not shy.
Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
And so I messengered
you and you almost I think you
were actually on Facebookbecause I messaged you, I kind
of had a big long thing forFacebook.
I'm tiny, from the scotchiebourbon boys, and I swear to God
I pushed the button and withinlike 30 seconds he responded and
(01:19:59):
I was just like, well, that'sinteresting to see that he was
responding to me and I meanhonestly, uh, how you know
everything that we've gonethrough and and uh, everything
that we've gone through and anduh, and the friendship that that
we've uh you know, formed it'sbeen nothing.
Speaker 3 (01:20:32):
But why I'm into, why
I love bourbon and whiskey?
Because of exactly that thoughtthat was gonna be.
Speaker 7 (01:20:37):
Why are we friends?
Speaker 1 (01:20:37):
I mean it's the
bourbon ball, so he spreads
because of the bourbon balls,right.
Speaker 9 (01:20:42):
Yeah, it's the
bourbon balls.
We bribed him with bourbonballs.
Speaker 7 (01:20:49):
Is that what you call
, that Rash so?
Speaker 1 (01:20:55):
Aaron, we have to
make some green river bourbon
balls for you when we see you,we got some green river, we can
get some, oh I always have greenriver so use the green river's
weighted bourbon so what, what, what's you know?
Recollection of you know, ofbeing, you know, of the Scotchy
(01:21:19):
Bourbon Boys.
Speaker 4 (01:21:21):
That's a whole lot of
char in there.
Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
You know what really
just being introduced to your
platform and being, you know, introduced to your personality,
your candor, the way that youall make people feel like a
family that you've just met, that was the best kind of people
I could be around as a newdistiller in a new state doing
(01:21:53):
something you know new.
And, you know, after movingfrom everything we do and coming
into a new place, you know, tugat my heartstrings a little bit
because you guys were verywelcoming for me and have been
welcoming for me everywhere I'vebeen.
So, you know I truly cherishour friendship and can't wait to
(01:22:15):
wait to keep seeing, you know, keep growing and keep seeing
your success.
Speaker 1 (01:22:21):
Well, I mean honestly
, um, there's no doubt.
Uh, I, you and Ann together arethe reason why I understand.
You guys gave me the view ofhow important the people that
(01:22:43):
are there and their palates.
You can take one.
You have to make whiskey good, but you also have to have
somebody who knows what tastesgood.
And what you guys did atWatershed and then what you
turned around and have throughthe team you have there and
(01:23:06):
through the great support systemyou have at Green River, the
spectacular whiskey that youkeep putting out, and then what
you put out with Ann atWatershed, it's, it's kind of
like that made me understand alot of what's going on in the
industry.
It's, it's, it's the people.
(01:23:26):
The distilling process is veryimportant, but the people
putting out the whiskey if youdon't care about the whiskey and
you think it can be done on aspreadsheet, you're full of shit
.
It's just that much simple andthose aren't the kind of people
I want to know.
I want to know the people whoput out the whiskey and care
about the whiskey, like Greghere, like you, aaron, and then
(01:23:51):
Anne, what you've done throughthe state of Ohio, although
you're not like part of theprocess of the tasting or
whatever, but you're willing tohelp anybody anywhere and that's
something that is special.
And you know everybody heretonight.
The reason why you guys are,the reason why I'm into this,
(01:24:15):
why I keep doing it it's likethe bourbon once again is the is
just the glue.
The actual thing is your familyand your friends.
And you know, before I got intothis I didn't.
I had a couple friends, right.
Speaker 9 (01:24:31):
Oh yeah, yeah, I had
friends you know, and I still
there's.
Speaker 1 (01:24:34):
Most of them are
still my friends, most of them.
But but you know, but at thesame time, I've met so many
people, and so many qualitypeople, and everybody that you
meet in the bourbon industrythat you that most, for the most
part, they care about life andabout living, and that's why,
(01:24:55):
when you drink bourbon from theUnited States, the good stuff
these are the people that give ashit about what they're putting
on the shelf right.
Speaker 10 (01:25:09):
And that's you.
But I already told the storyearlier tonight about how you
brought over Jeff's email on alittle flip of paper to me.
You should reach out to thisguy here you go and the rest is
history, right I?
Speaker 3 (01:25:30):
would say, that's how
people have become presidents
of the United States, exactly.
Just a little note.
Speaker 10 (01:25:38):
I was just there,
aaron was running it.
I'm like, okay, I'll tell you.
Speaker 3 (01:25:45):
And let me come in
and share some glory.
That was all that was.
Speaker 1 (01:25:50):
Well, I remember you
changed my mind on rye Aaron.
It's like when we got into thatrye barrel.
Speaker 4 (01:25:58):
Yeah, I was just
thinking about that.
When we went back there and wegot into those rye barrels and
that one rye barrel that we feedfrom with the little copper
tubing, that's all we had.
It wasn't even a feed, it was acopper, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:26:14):
It wasn't even a
thief, it was a copper.
Speaker 1 (01:26:18):
Yeah, it had an angle
on it.
Plus, there was a A littlepiece of copper too, and then
somehow there was a cat involved.
Speaker 3 (01:26:28):
Yeah, that cat was in
there and that changed Jeff's
mind on rye forever yeah, prettysure that could have been a
lottery, uh, but we were tastingthere yeah, yeah, I actually I
(01:26:50):
still have that bottle.
Speaker 1 (01:26:51):
I got that, got that
first batch of rye.
So when we see you coming upreal soon at Kentucky Bourbon
Festival, I should bring thatbottle down and we should sip a
little bit of that.
Speaker 9 (01:27:06):
All right, agree, we
could make some decent Green

Speaker 9 (01:27:15):

Speaker 1 (01:27:16):

Speaker 10 (01:27:20):
I said we've got
Aaron on the podcast.
What's coming up?
What's?
Speaker 4 (01:27:25):
coming up for.
Speaker 10 (01:27:26):

Speaker 4 (01:27:26):
Yeah, yeah, you got
any like oh yeah, and tell us
about what's coming up next week.
You know Also, yeah, what'scoming up.
Speaker 3 (01:27:34):

what's coming up next week, you
know.
So, yeah, what's coming, youknow.
I think it's Thursday night.
I check into the BuckeyeBourbon House and I'm going to
have a hell of a couple you knowday and a half Bringing up some
a wheelbarrow full of singlebarrel samples for OHLQ to pick
through Wait, a second Wait, asecond Wait a second Ann, wait
(01:27:57):
what?
Speaker 1 (01:28:00):
Ann, how can I get
invited to that?
Speaker 10 (01:28:04):
It's a wheelbarrow
full, you can come Aaron's like
my guy.
Speaker 1 (01:28:13):
We're going to do it
in Chicago next week.
I don't care when, is itThursday?
No, I won't.
No, no, no, no, I'll be inChicago yeah, I'm not going
until.
Speaker 3 (01:28:24):
Friday I'm in well,
the event's Friday.
Speaker 1 (01:28:28):
I'll be in Thursday
night well, I'd come down and
see you on Thursday don't forget, you've got Dan Garrison on
Thursday night.
Speaker 6 (01:28:38):
You've got to be
clear-headed, God.
Speaker 1 (01:28:42):
I find out about this
late.
Speaker 7 (01:28:46):
Come on now.
We've got 500 episodes.
What is the?
Speaker 9 (01:28:50):
rerun.
Matt says, he's free.
Speaker 10 (01:28:55):
You've got some
really exciting skews right now.
Speaker 4 (01:28:59):
Oh, my God.
Speaker 10 (01:29:00):
You have the bourbon
, you have the rye, you have the
on-premise everyday thing.
What else is coming out besidesamazing?
Ohlq exclusive.
Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
There will be some
distillate samples to go through
on some new stuff we're workingon.
That is not released.
Speaker 9 (01:29:19):
You're killing him.
Speaker 3 (01:29:20):
You're killing him I
don't know, some rye varieties
and possibly a four grain thatwill be sampled.
Speaker 10 (01:29:34):
Oh, I'm going to
kill you.
Speaker 6 (01:29:37):
Right now, and and
yeah, Between you and Aaron, you
brought me a question how longis it going to take me to get an
Ohio driver's license to becomean Ohio resident so I can?
Speaker 1 (01:29:49):
get some of this
stuff.
You don't have to have an Ohio,I'll buy it for you.
You can just buy stuff youdon't have to have an, I'll buy
it for you.
Speaker 2 (01:29:55):
You can just buy it.
Speaker 6 (01:29:55):
You don't have to
have a license to get in line.
Speaker 1 (01:29:59):
No, this isn't line
stuff.
Speaker 10 (01:30:01):
No.
Speaker 4 (01:30:02):
I should have guessed
that the first year I came up
to Ohio.
Speaker 10 (01:30:07):
Yeah, I would say,
the only things you have to have
a license for for Ohio, or Isthe lotteries.
Speaker 3 (01:30:17):
The lotteries, the
lotteries, the greatest.
Most people in Ohio don't havea driver's license.
Speaker 6 (01:30:20):
They just get the car
you lived, aaron.
What did you just say?
Speaker 3 (01:30:28):
Two years.
Speaker 1 (01:30:29):
Yes, I mean he lived
in Columbus for two years.
I'll give him that I think webleeped that out.
Speaker 9 (01:30:36):
I said.
Speaker 6 (01:30:36):
Repeat that slowly
for those of us that were born
in Mississippi.
Speaker 1 (01:30:42):
So just so you know,
randy, especially with green,
like all the OHLQ releases getreleased right away.
Nothing gets held back.
It's just like, and most of itgets released on release day and
you pretty much if you want anOHLQ release they do so many
(01:31:09):
that pretty much everybody thatwants it gets one.
Sometimes you can't get thebarrel you want, like Anne's
tasting notes will be likeshe'll have a bunch of and it's
like I want that barrel and thenyou're like that's the hard
part.
But as far as getting one ofthe barrels, they're throughout
(01:31:30):
the state of Ohio and youusually can get them when
they're released.
Speaker 4 (01:31:37):
Yeah it's like I flew
up a couple of times and not
been there for the actualrelease, but I've traveled
around and hit some liquorstores and been able to pick up
some of the releases that wereleft over.
You know, the smaller storesthat had them had them available
, you know, because they didn'thave that many people that came
(01:32:00):
in there, and so I got luckyenough to pick them up that's
the move, because it goes allover ohio well that's it, that's
it and, and as aaron knows,it's like ann does a wonderful
job of getting everybody in line.
Speaker 1 (01:32:15):
And then the
distribution of OHLQ as far as
their picks.
It's amazing.
Speaker 4 (01:32:21):
Yes, I have to give
100% shout out to OHLQ and their
whole distribution team because, it's amazing, it is equally
divided and, like I say, everybody has a chance.
Speaker 6 (01:32:38):
I know I've grabbed a
couple of Ohio releases,
probably one from Walker that hegot from you, and then also I
picked one up at your store whenI was up there and they're
wonderful, they're amazing.
Whoever picked them does agreat job.
Speaker 1 (01:32:53):
So there's going to
be.
They're great stuff, so okay.
So there's going to be greatstuff, so, so OK.
So you're going to be tastingthrough stuff.
Does that mean it's going to bereleased also?
Speaker 4 (01:33:03):
What would that be?
Speaker 10 (01:33:06):
The outcome.
Speaker 2 (01:33:09):
That is it yeah.
Speaker 10 (01:33:11):
So the OHLQ
exclusive barrels of Green River
are coming out of that one Iwas going to say Aaron.
So Ohio is the fourth largestAmerican whiskey market in
America.
Speaker 4 (01:33:24):
Congratulations.
Speaker 10 (01:33:26):
Well, thank you, but
for Green River, how are we
stacking up?
Are we up there?
Speaker 3 (01:33:40):
are we stacking up?
Are we?
Are we up there?
Um well, she does so good atputting people on spot.
As far as peers go, I know thatwhen um, oh my gosh, is it Rick
(01:34:08):
in Heidelberg?
I cannot remember.
His name is rick so.
So usually, anyway, wheneverohio calls, I know that I need
to make sure that I'm notsitting down and moving
everything I can to help themout, and I will call and I'm
coming back.
Speaker 1 (01:34:17):
We appreciate that
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:34:20):
Ohio helps with your
success.
Correct If there is a brand oranyone that wants to become a
brand in the entire world, ifthey are not paying attention to
the state of Ohio then they'renot going to succeed.
Speaker 10 (01:34:38):
I'll say that I'm
going to take that right there,
our new commercial.
Speaker 1 (01:34:52):
Yeah, I would say so
because there's a bunch of
brands I tried to get into Ohioand they didn't come into Ohio
and they're having a lot ofproblems.
I'm not going to, I won't namenames, but Exactly, and they
didn't come into Ohio andthey're having a lot of problems
, a lot.
I'm not going to, I won't namenames, but Exactly, no, no, ohio
, no, and when are we going tobecome three Ann.
Speaker 4 (01:35:03):
Either that or
they're not trying hard enough,
right Ann?
Speaker 10 (01:35:07):
Well, I mean, it's
kind of like pitching your brand
to any sort of chain.
Yeah, if we're going to go toTotal Wine, you would say here's
my brand, here's what I'm doingto support it, here's my
marketing plan to come in.
Speaker 1 (01:35:29):
You know it's very
data driven total wine and here
in Ohio and get Costco to startselling.
It's just like that.
Do you realize how many peoplego out of state to go to Costco?
Speaker 10 (01:35:46):
I mean, there's no
reason why there can't be a
Costco or a total wine.
It's just that liquor sales areOHLQ, and OHLQ is that you have
the same shelf price every dayeverywhere, and so it's a very
standardized process, and someof those places have not chosen
(01:36:09):
to participate.
Speaker 1 (01:36:11):
Well, costco, when
you go in wisconsin they
discount it, it's like it'scheaper.
So, like you said, when youcan't, so if they buy 500
million cases, they want to sellit for cheaper and they can't
do it here in ohio, because ohio, yes, that makes sense ohio is
different.
Speaker 10 (01:36:29):
it's it's really the
only state like it where the's
a public-private partnership, where we have the public side,
the Division of Liquor Control, which is all of the operations,
and then we have Jobs.
Ohio Beverage System, which iswho I work for and who buys all
of the liquor and the profitsfrom the sale of liquor is what
(01:36:50):
funds economic development, which is not just bring more
businesses in.
That's part of it, but it'salso are we maintaining a bank
of.
Here are shovel-readydevelopment sites.
Here are empty buildings thatwould totally fit your business.
Here's what we're doing tobring talented people into the
(01:37:13):
state to fill the jobs or, youknow, have talented people.
So you know, it's a lot to it.
Oh yeah, it's very different.
Speaker 1 (01:37:22):
All right.
Speaker 9 (01:37:23):
That's awesome.
Speaker 1 (01:37:24):
Yes, so we've gone
long and the 500th was going to
be long.
I want to thank you.
Does anybody have finalcomments?
You can start Super Nash.
Speaker 4 (01:37:40):
One other thing is we
need to go to Greg Schneider,
because he's been here the wholetime and I mean this guy is
just super.
There are so many words that Ijust can't explain.
But, greg, I mean, what do youthink about all this?
(01:38:03):
And I just want to thank you somuch for helping us along the
way, and is there anything thatyou'd like to say or anything?
Or actually promote FourBranches.
Speaker 1 (01:38:19):
Are you coming up to
Ohio with Four Branches?
Speaker 5 (01:38:23):
Thanks for the
opportunity.
Yeah, I mean.
You guys know they're a smallcompany.
Most of their sales are onlinesales.
Right now they're in sevenmarket states, whatever, and so
they're growing.
It takes money to make money asyou grow in this industry.
I've been doing this for 47 plusyears.
Thanks for the mark.
(01:38:46):
Absolutely, it's always great.
Again, we talked about thebrotherhood.
When I started in this industryin 1978 with Joseph E Seagrams
in Louisville, and back then, even to the time I was the
managing director of Wild Turkey, there was eight players in
(01:39:09):
this state, kentucky, and we hada brotherhood, and any day if I
had a motor that burned out andI didn't have a replacement, I
could call any one of thedistilleries in kentucky.
If they had that motor.
I could run over.
They throw it in a truck andpick it up, and we did that
every, every day, every week, and it's such a great industry.
(01:39:30):
I'm so blessed to have workedin it throughout my life.
Listen to Ann and the OhioLiquor Control Group.
Ohio is an extremely importantstate.
I've told the guys at FortBranson I'd love to get you in
that state.
(01:39:51):
It would be a huge boost toyour sales and growth, and we
will.
We'll get there someday.
But you know everybody's got towalk, you know got to walk
before you run, and so that'skind of the situation they're in
.
And I work with other companiesas well.
You know I have a consultingcompany, but you know to think
(01:40:14):
about where Scotchy Bourbon Boysstarted and to where they are
today.
That's phenomenal.
And again that's a tribute toJeff Rachel Martin, whiskey Tiny
(01:40:35):
Nose Xavier you know, Whiskey, tiny Nose.
You know, xavier, I mean a wholebunch that's been involved
throughout CT.
I mean you guys, as we talkabout her, you've been like
family and that goes back to thecamaraderie of this industry
and the connection we all have.
The connection we all have andagain, can't say enough about
(01:40:58):
what you've done for thisindustry and to help it grow and
prosper and achieve what peopledidn't think was possible at
one time.
So, thank you, I've enjoyed thenight, I've listened a lot and
you know, as you all know, I'mnot sure for comments when I
think comments need to be made, but that's okay, yeah, we can't
(01:41:19):
wait to see you all in person atthe festival.
Speaker 9 (01:41:25):
It's a little over a
month, Well yeah, in September.
Speaker 1 (01:41:28):
No matter what, greg,
we got to make sure that we
connect okay.
All right.
Speaker 6 (01:41:36):
I want to tell you,
as I travel around, I see Four
Branches on the shelf in a lotof places and I'm glad to see
that.
Speaker 5 (01:41:45):
It's a great brand.
I mean nobody's ever done knowabout it.
I mean, check it out.
You know there's four guys thatcome from four branches of the
military and their mission andtheir story is phenomenal.
I mean they want to pay tributeto those that have fallen and
paid the ultimate sacrifice toour country, our great country,
(01:42:09):
in fighting and supporting forit.
And it goes beyond that.
I mean a lot.
A big portion of their proceedsgoes back.
They pay back to not justveterans organizations but first
responders organizations andwhat have you.
And so I'm just delighted.
(01:42:30):
You know they're again such asmall company.
They're such a small companyit's going to take time to get
to where they have potential tobe, but they're phenomenal guys,
phenomenal organization.
I'm just proud to work withthem.
So thank you.
Speaker 1 (01:42:44):
That's awesome.
You would only work with aphenomenal organization.
I know this time how you wentabout doing it.
Speaker 4 (01:42:53):
You made sure that
this was a worthwhile endeavor,
so cheers to that, I believe indestiny and, like I say, I think
you're right where you shouldbe and I believe you've got a
great future with that company.
And that's a great group ofguys and I really enjoyed
podcasting and talking with eachand every one of them.
(01:43:15):
Like I said, they got a greatendeavor ahead of them and a
great statement.
Speaker 5 (01:43:24):
Thank you, appreciate
it, guys.
Thank you so much, cheers.
Speaker 1 (01:43:27):
Thank you and Anne,
do you have any final statements
?
Speaker 10 (01:43:32):
Oh, my final
statement is cheers to 500
episodes.
I listened to some of the earlyones.
I was there for some of theearly ones.
You guys are amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:43:43):
I will have to say
that, one of the most amazing
things when you invited me downto the watershed that first time
and I showed up and you werewearing the Scotchy Bourbon Boys
t-shirt, I was like wow, it'slike yeah, it's just yeah, and
(01:44:08):
you've been nothing butfantastic for supporting us and
helping us with the barrel pickprocess, which I, you know,
every barrel pick, you know youmake sure that it all just goes
through as smooth as it can be.
Uh, we and your friendship moreimportant.
(01:44:29):
Oh yeah, yes, it's just like, um, the one thing that anybody
ever, if you've ever, met Ann.
When she walks in the room, theroom lights up I always refer
to her as liquid sunshine andthere's no doubt.
But her knowledge and expertisehas been 100% supporting the
(01:44:53):
state of Ohio, has been 100%supporting the state of Ohio.
She has a talent for, even ifsometimes she doesn't get credit
for it, she can make somebodyhave an idea that they might not
have ever had.
So we cheers to you.
So thank you, ann.
Speaker 4 (01:45:12):
Cheers, ann, and
thank you for supporting us yeah
.
Speaker 1 (01:45:17):
And I got to send a
cheers out to CT tonight.
Yeah, he was watching, yes, buthe was with Stephen Fonte at
the Prohibition Bar for an eventtonight.
He wanted to come on.
But you know, if you can gowith steven fonte and smoke some
rocky patel's, uh, I he gets,he gets a pass.
(01:45:40):
You know what I mean.
And uh, rocky patel pass, thanks, thank you.
Whiskey, doc, and whiskey, andalso, uh, knobs.
Uh, greatly appreciate you guyscoming on tonight.
