Why I’m Questioning “Proven” Marketing Formulas (And What I’m Doing Instead) After a whirlwind trip and a much-needed mental reset, I’m finally back in the States and taking a deep breath—maybe for the first time in weeks. Being away gave me the space to pause (which rarely happens), and naturally, I found myself doing what I always do: reflecting, chewing on everything until the flavor’s all out, and thinking about where we’re headed with The Seed and with business in general. And here’s the thing I can’t stop thinking about:There’s a shift happening. And we need to talk about it. We’ve had some incredible guests on The Seed this year—Melanie Deziel, Raquel Bóris, Rachel Kelly—and each one brought something to the table that challenged how we think about success. From content strategy to showing up without filters to pivoting during personal transitions, they all reminded us that there is not one way to grow, lead, or thrive. So if you’ve been following all the “formulas” out there, buying into the six-figure scripts, and still feeling like something isn’t clicking? You are not broken. You are not behind. You are just ready to trust your own process. Here’s what I’m seeing in the online space: People are skeptical. Rightfully so. The internet is filled with big, shouty promises—“Grow your list in 30 days!” “Triple your income with one post!”—but fewer people are falling for it. We’re tired of being sold to. We’re craving something else: truth over tactics. Connection over conversion. Depth over noise. Marketing isn’t dead. But marketing without meaning? That’s what people are walking away from. So what does work right now? In my experience—and what I keep hearing from my guests—it’s not about formulas. It’s about a process: Testing Learning Listening Refining Connecting Showing up (again and again) This isn’t flashy. It’s not always fast. But it’s real. And it lasts. If you want your work to land, if you want your message to move people, then start here: The Hook: Say something that makes your audience stop scrolling and start feeling. The Guts: Give them value. Show them they’re not alone. Tell the truth no one else is saying. The Close: Offer a clear next step, whether it’s joining your email list, grabbing your freebie, or just dropping you a DM to connect. That’s the kind of marketing I want to keep doing. The kind that builds community, not just clicks. That speaks to the real person on the other side of the screen. That doesn’t sacrifice integrity just to keep up with the noise. As we head into the second half of 2025, let’s stop trying to copy blueprints that don’t fit and start building our own foundations. Because truthfully? You’re not behind. You’re just ready for your own process.Let’s grow with that in mind. Listen to the full conversation here.Don't forget to check out our blog, beyond the podcast, by clicking here.
