Speaker 1 (00:00):
Later. Oh my goodness, the food looks and smells amazing.
I have you hungry? This is this Servis podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Hello and welcome back to served. We are serving you
up a ton of great FOODI recommendations here in Canberra.
I am your host, Mick Carojuana. And for longtime listeners,
you know about my constantly troubles. I had ACL surgery
last November and for most of this year I've been
doing rehab well. In a funny turn of events, doing

(00:32):
my rehab, I tore my miniscus, so I have had
to have surgery on that bad boy, and I'm currently
at home in a brace for six weeks, just doing nothing.
So I thought what better way to pass the time
than do a bonus episode for you. It's my leg
that's broken, not my mouth. At the end of the day.
On today's bonus episode, I have a place that I've

(00:55):
ticked off mixed bucket list that I think you need
to check out. And plus I've also got a top
five list of the best foods to eat while watching sport.
I should have done this list before the Women's World
Cup started, but you know what, better late than never.
All that and more on today's episode of served. About

(01:19):
a few weeks ago, I updated mixed bucket list. I
can bind places from the old list with new restaurants
and bars that have opened up to make a mega list.
And today, well we're gonna tick one off from the
og list. Play the open up.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
Now, where's the food bucket list?

Speaker 2 (01:36):
The place in question is one that I've spoken about
before on the podcast. It is Okami or you can
Eat Japanese in both Morson and Braden. First of all,
it's a steal of a deal forty two dollars per
person and it's all you can eat. The menu has
a range of options from sushi and sashimi, smaller snack
plates like kiozas and takiyaki all the way to your

(01:58):
angus beef pieces, chicken katsu, harry and cooked prawns as well.
I went along with my good mates Tyler, Tim and Ethan,
and I did warn them beforehand to not over order.
Did they listen to me? No, haha. We got so
much food. I myself got the takiyakiocopas balls, which were lovely,

(02:18):
the chicken karag the prawn giosas, the tempura prawns, the
chicken katsu, some sushi and the miso steak as well.
I absolutely loved the miso steak too. It was cooked
to perfection, and since it was just in like little
cubes as well, it wasn't too chewy either, which is
what I was a bit worried about, and that miso
sauce over the top of it was fan bloody tastic.

(02:42):
The only problem that I have with Okami is the
rate that the food comes out. We all ordered at
the same time, and a few of Tyler and Ethan's
dishes came out before Tim even got his first, which
is a bit frustrating and it makes it awkward like
oh you start, no, no, we'll wait, you know, all
that sort of jazz. But you can also then fall
into the trap of forgetting what you've ordered, which all

(03:03):
four of us did. We were stuffed, and then we
didn't realize we still had more food coming out, and
they kept bringing it out and we've just gone, oh, no,
what have we done. You can't take the food home
in doggy bags either, So my tip is to go
in with a slight game plan or just like limit
yourself to five dishes or so, or maybe like multiple

(03:24):
dishes to share with everyone because they're only small plates,
they're not huge. But yeah, you don't want to overorder
and then fill up and then realize you've got tons
of food on the way ahha. Also, don't order random
things like Tim did. He decided to get the seasoned
squid salad and took one bite and didn't like it.

(03:44):
If you waste the food, you could incur a surcharge
as well. And don't forget to leave room for dessert too.
They've got some of the yummiest signature ice cream, including
Vanilla black Sesame and March of Green tea too. It
is so creamy and soft and it's the perfect way
to all you can eat Japanese experience. I just want
to quickly say as well, the season's could salad. It

(04:04):
was quite yummy as well. It was different, it didn't
taste bad. Tim's just a n inco and poop. All
in all, it's a must go. The food is yummy,
and unlike a sushi train where you're judging by the
price of the plate, you've got your flat fee and
you can go for your life. On the menu. Deaf's
go and get the miso steak, the chickenkatsu and the
taker yaki octopus balls. They are my top three picks.

(04:28):
A kami all you can eat Japanese is ticked off
my bucket list, and it should deaths be ticked off yours.
I was watching the Matilda's third place playoff game on
Saturday night, and I won't lie, I started getting a
little bit peckish. We'd already had dinner, so I wasn't
after a full meal, just something to tide me over

(04:50):
for the rest of the game. So it got me thinking,
right now, what would have been the best food I
could have eaten during the footy? So with your help
over on the served Instagram, plus with a little of
my own research as well, I have made a list
of the top five best foods to have while watching
your favorite sport.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
We still need ideas for snack foods.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
I'm limiting it to snack sort of food, so burgers
and hot dogs don't make the list, when in all
honesty they probably should be one and two. Very sorry
to all the burgers and the hot dogs out there.
I do want to give two honorable mentions. Rachel over
on the Instagram said barbecue shapes in particular. I do
have to agree barbecue are easily in the top three

(05:31):
best shape flavors, and Tikerstand said that ticker stand is
the best thing to have during the footy and I
don't think I've had ticker stand while watching sport, but
I mean it'd be rude not to write okay into
the list. Now at number five, it is a left
field choice, but I'm gonna say watermelon, all right, it's
more of a summer sport food. But I honestly can't

(05:53):
think of anything better than chowing down on a huge
slice of watermelon and having the cricket on, all right,
or having the a leg on having any sort of
sport on during summertime. Watermelon what gets number five? At
number four, it's party pies and it's sausage rolls. Need
I say more? Whether they're homemade or from the freezer section,

(06:13):
they're always going down a treat. I'm normally a pie guy.
I won't lie. Wow, look at that rhyme, go Michael.
But party sausage rolls offter they are killer, and barbecue
sauce over tomato. And now it's controversial, but let's be real,
it's correct, all right. Don't be afraid to admit that
barbecue sauce is better than tomato sauce. Come on coming

(06:35):
in number three, nachos. It is so customizable and it's
super easy to share as well. It deserves to be
in the top three. Yes, it does take a little
bit of prep time, but it is all worth it
in the end. If you don't have it with guac
and sour cream, though, I feel like you're doing it wrong.
And number two it is chips, both from a packet

(06:58):
and out of the oven. Potato is such a beautiful,
versatile vegetable and I just can't split these two variations,
all right. Potato chips have so many flavors, while hot
chippies can come in so many different sizes. You've got
your waffle fries, potato gems, wedges. The list goes on,
and honestly it should be number one, but it's not

(07:19):
because number one is pizza. Yes, yes, I know, I
said snack sort of foods, but pizza can easily be
a snack food. It just depends on how many slices
you have. You know, I'm right. Pizza is the ultimate
sport food because there is a topping for any and
every occasion. Which topping goes with, which sport. Well, that's

(07:42):
for another episode, but I do like the sound of
that sort of research, just watching a bunch of sport
and having a bunch of different pizzas and just going
you know what, I think the Meat Lovers complements the
NRL a bit more A fine. Count me in If
I missed any though, please shoot our Instagram page a message.
I am positive though that I do, and it's going
to be super hard to change this. Top five five watermelon,

(08:04):
four party pot, sausage rolls, three nat shows, two chippies
and number one pizza. That is a dynamite list.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
And that's it.

Speaker 2 (08:19):
