Speaker 4 (00:07):
Hello and welcome back to Served, where we are serving
you up a ton of great foody recommendations here in
the nation's capital. I'm your host, Mick Carojuana, and for
the first time in SERVED history, I'm doing an episode live.
I'm doing it from the College Dropout and All About
Burgers pop up.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
I am not a.
Speaker 4 (00:24):
Politician here at QT Canberra, and it is awesome. I've
already had my chicken burger. My review is coming a
little bit later on, so keep your hopes up. I'm
going to get zach On as well from All About
Burgers to talk about how it was setting this vent up,
what he hopes people can experience when they come and
try the college drop out burgers. And I'm going around
(00:44):
and I'm asking other people here what they think of
the burgers too.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I'll give you a quick hint. Fantastic.
Speaker 4 (00:51):
Oh my god, some of the best burgers you'll ever have.
That is all on the way on today's episode of Served.
Today's special live episode, My burger has a right.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
He looks beautiful.
Speaker 4 (01:10):
There is so much chicken, which is so good to
say I've already had a chip.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
I won't lie super front him, super loving him. That's
what he wanted, a chip, alright.
Speaker 5 (01:20):
I'm when Zach would have fired this up and saved
it for some of the best burgs' had.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
I was like, Noko, yeah, maybe we'll see. Holy ship,
this is. This is up there with one of the
best chicken beer've ever had. It is like a tasty kofc.
It is basically a koc.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
The menu does say inspired by the great Colonel Sanders
from You Can Tuck You.
Speaker 1 (01:51):
Not only is it inspired, but it is so much better.
That chicken is juicy. They crumbing on it, Holy hell.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
And it's just a perfect mist of letters and mayo
as well.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
And there's pickles on it too, and that's something okayously
doesn't do. This is phenomenal. In honor of Zach, I
have to give it a rating out of ten. I
haven't had another bite before I do any nine point two.
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Nine point two Zach nine point two hook. It wouldn't
be a proper podcast without getting the man. The brain's
behind this entire operation, we'll say, And he's a he's
a favorite of the podcast Zach from All About Burgers, Mate, how.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Are you going?
Speaker 2 (02:38):
I'm feeling better now that we're three hours in than
I was at eleven thirty.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
That's for sure.
Speaker 4 (02:43):
When you first open mate, this is incredible, dude, You
and the college dropout guys have done a great job,
and Michael and QT as well. QT have done great
to deck out the lucky speak easy. How are you
feeling though, I know you look tired already.
Speaker 6 (02:57):
Yeah, it's been a long couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
There's been like a lot to sort out and figure
out and get going.
Speaker 6 (03:03):
But I was quite nervous leading into today.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
But at ten forty five, when there's people waiting at
the door forty five minutes early, I was like, yeah,
today's going to.
Speaker 6 (03:13):
Be a good day.
Speaker 2 (03:14):
So I feel good now. I'm just real happy that
everyone's enjoyed it.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Well, that's good. Have you been getting a lot of
positive feedback so far?
Speaker 2 (03:20):
Well, we've got a feedback box and I haven't opened
it yet, but I mean, everyone, to my face has
been really nice.
Speaker 6 (03:26):
So even though like a bit of a long.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Way at the start as we were just getting the
ball rolling, but yeah, really good feedback so far.
Speaker 4 (03:33):
What do you hope for people to come and feel
when they taste these college drop out burgers because they
are from Melbourne. These aren't a normal camera thing. What
do you want them to the Cambarans to feel when
they try it?
Speaker 2 (03:46):
Well, I want them to feel by their first kiss.
Speaker 6 (03:51):
Oh that is adorable, pure elation.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Okay, right, but no, I think everyone's sort of experienced it.
They take a buy and it just it just tastes good.
It just like it's it's homely.
Speaker 6 (04:03):
The burger is homely.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
I love it.
Speaker 6 (04:05):
So.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
I I hate to tell you my first kiss was
filled with regret, but.
Speaker 6 (04:10):
Regret that you didn't get the right burger.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
No, because because she was a horrible person. But that's
not a hren on there. We don't need to dive.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
Into that if we're talking about an actual, proper first kiss.
These burgers were definitely mine.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
I got two of them. I got the Chicken is
King and I got the college drop out. I won't lie.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
I've struggled with habit eating two burgers. I'm not normally
a two burger man rookie. It is my first time,
but mate, they were fantastic. Where do you rate these
in your overall list?
Speaker 6 (04:37):
Graduations equal number one.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Yeah, and I think with the potato bun, the Mind's
potato bun, I think it goes to number one again. Yeah,
I think it goes I'm going to rereview it. It
goes up for eleven. Really, yes, waybed to be number one?
Speaker 6 (04:49):
Oh one?
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Yeah, okay, one o one, zoey one o one. That's
the way to do it.
Speaker 4 (04:53):
What are you hoping because we finished the Saturday, You've
still got Sunday tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
What are you hoping for tomorrow?
Speaker 7 (05:00):
One?
Speaker 1 (05:00):
You want to see more people through the door.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
I just want to see ifyone enjoy themselves, come in,
have the burger, experience it like I did for the
first time, and just enjoy what we've put on for them, because,
like with my goal was to do this for the
people at Canberra. Like luck in my buio it says
Camebra's real public servant and this is my public service
to people at Canberra. So I just wanted to come in,
enjoy it, have a good time, enjoy the burger and
(05:24):
like support me, like this is the one I'd ask
for one thing and for people to come to this
and enjoy it, and yeah, just have a good experience,
get some cookies into he brus some merch.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
Well, there you go.
Speaker 6 (05:35):
Are you enjoying?
Speaker 4 (05:36):
You entered my next quession. I was gonna say, you
guys don't even have just burgercy. You've got cookies, You've
got merch here as well. You've got a wheel that
you can spin to them, win giants, merchandise as well.
It's all going on, so people would be dumb not
to come down tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (05:50):
Yeah, one percent.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Hopefully there's like the first spin on the wheel, we
gave away a jersey, so really yeah, the first spin,
this little kid won it. I was like, sweet and
a kid want a six back, so we couldn't give
him that. But come down, have some burgers, have a beer,
have a wine, just enjoy it and get after it
like it's it's good exact, have fun.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
It's it's an event. You don't want to miss out.
Because it is on only one weekend. We don't know
if you're ever going to come back.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
The man's right here. If we ask me if you
ever wants to come back, he's busy. And that's a
good thing to hear that. All right, there are a
lot of people here.
Speaker 1 (06:33):
It is going off.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
I think it's time we do some box box just
so we can see whatever one else's thoughts are. Because
you've got mine and it's a stunning review.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
But let's see what some other people are saying.
Speaker 4 (06:46):
I did do some of these interviews before I tasted mine,
but it's not about me, it's about there. I'm here
with Lauren from her food blog. Lauren, First of all,
what burger did you get? We had the college drop
out and then we had the gorgeous burger. It's frustrating
(07:07):
that I'm having to do all these reviews from people
when Zach is the king of burger reviews. But what
do you review the burger and rate it?
Speaker 8 (07:13):
I genuinely would rate it like.
Speaker 6 (07:17):
I don't know if it's too generous, like a nine
out of.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
Ten, nine out of ten.
Speaker 4 (07:20):
And I'm a big burger person too, and I'm normally
a chicken burger person.
Speaker 6 (07:25):
But the beef really surprised me. It was chrispy, then
it was so good.
Speaker 4 (07:29):
Would you want to see college drop out in Canberra permanently?
Speaker 5 (07:32):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (07:32):
Absolutely, I think it would go off.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
It'll be so good.
Speaker 1 (07:35):
All right, there you go.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
All right. I'm here with Russ from Experience Eat Russ.
Speaker 1 (07:39):
First of all, what burger did you get?
Speaker 7 (07:41):
The parties in La?
Speaker 1 (07:42):
How did you find it? Was it top tier?
Speaker 6 (07:44):
Was it average?
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Oh?
Speaker 7 (07:45):
It was good? It was really good, pretty impressive, So yeah, nice.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Do you find it hard to review burgers? Are you
just going to leave that to Zach moving forward?
Speaker 4 (07:54):
Yeah? Yeah, because burgers are only you know, there's a
long way between good ones and bad ones.
Speaker 7 (07:59):
So yeah, reviewing burgers is definitely for Zach.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
Well, let's just stick to the tasting man.
Speaker 7 (08:05):
We'll just do Yeah, definitely.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Alrighty, I'm here with Dubs eats everything, and he has
eaten everything. What burgers did you get? My guy got
the graduation and the chickenes King. I know we normally
leave the burger reviews to Zach, but what do you
give these burgers?
Speaker 7 (08:21):
They're easily a high nine out of ten?
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Man, what did you prefer more? The graduation or the
chicken is King? The chickenes Kid?
Speaker 7 (08:26):
You can't beat it's the king.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
You can't eat it.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
It is the King, and it's just it tastes like
a fancier and better kfis.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
You get the nail there.
Speaker 4 (08:33):
There you go from the man that eats everything, he says,
this is the one thing you got to eat. All right.
I'm here with someone who, look, they have to go
through this burger tasting routine quite a bit.
Speaker 1 (08:42):
It is Zack's wife, Charlotte. First of all, how are you?
I'm well, thank you?
Speaker 7 (08:46):
How are you?
Speaker 1 (08:47):
I'm good?
Speaker 4 (08:48):
How are you going with all this event? I know
you're the camera lady most of the time. Have you
gotten a lot of good shots? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (08:53):
That's good, footy say, and yeah, it's been sober all right.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
The big question though, which burger do you have and
how do you rate it? Well?
Speaker 4 (09:00):
I went against what I usually would order, which is beef,
so it actually went with the chicken.
Speaker 6 (09:05):
The chicken is king. So for me, it's up there.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
It's like a nine.
Speaker 6 (09:09):
Fine and wow, I love it.
Speaker 1 (09:11):
It's one of my favorites. I'm here with Courtney and
Kilder ladies. First of all, good friends with Zach.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Yes, yeah we are.
Speaker 1 (09:17):
So you're here not for the burgers but for him purely?
Speaker 3 (09:20):
Is just the burgers?
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Oh, good answer, good answer. I'm friends with. What burger
did you come for?
Speaker 3 (09:27):
So we both we couldn't decide.
Speaker 4 (09:29):
We kind of wanted to try them all, but we
went with Harvey each, so we got to try both.
Speaker 6 (09:34):
We've got the graduation and the.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
Chicken is now out of ten like Zach normally rates it,
what would you rate them out of ten?
Speaker 3 (09:41):
Then it's definitely up there.
Speaker 7 (09:42):
I would say for me, like.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Nine, at least nine.
Speaker 6 (09:45):
At least just say nine nine and a half. Yeah,
well there you go from If we said like five.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
It would be very awkward and I might cut it out.
Speaker 4 (09:53):
But no, you said I'm going to edit this, so
it sounds like you have said five and two grade.
Speaker 3 (09:58):
It's definitely up there. I would say like five.
Speaker 4 (10:08):
Now, this operation was masterminded by Zach Well. It was
his dream and it couldn't have happened without the college
dropout guys.
Speaker 6 (10:16):
Of course without QT and chef Michael Box.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
But I'm here with Mark.
Speaker 4 (10:20):
From college dropout. First of all, welcome to Canberra. How
do you find it?
Speaker 7 (10:23):
Thank you?
Speaker 8 (10:24):
You know what, it's been like a little bit overwhelming.
I didn't expect to turn out. I didn't expect to
be treated so well by QT. Zach's been amazing to
kind of get involved with. It was kind of an
idea that we just went back and forth months back.
You know, we're kind of here today and it's happening now.
Speaker 1 (10:41):
It was a bit of a rough start. There was
a delayed flight.
Speaker 8 (10:45):
Yeah, shout out to jet st your pieces of because my.
Speaker 7 (10:50):
File was delayed.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
Yep.
Speaker 8 (10:52):
I had two staff members coming in this morning. There
was supposed to be here Brian early. Their flight got
delayed by two hours. Our kind of kitchen was in
a a bit of a shambles. But we've bounced back
and in full swing now.
Speaker 1 (11:05):
It has been fantastic.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
I had two of the burgers, and I won't lie
I did struggle with two, but I'm glad I went
with them. Talk us through the idea of your signature burger,
the college drop out having a chicken and a beef
patty on it was that just a random idea or yeah?
Speaker 8 (11:18):
Well, as soon as designing the burgers, I mean originally,
obviously everyone knows the whole Kanye story, and I kind
of wanted to show inspiration to some of his song
album titles. The college dropout burger was just made for
a college dropout. I mean it was like that stereotypical
kind of burger that would lie not a normal person
in your day in age with order and you know,
(11:39):
well it's probably one of our most popular burgers. It's
probably one of the burger that's more sought out than
the other ones. My personal opinion is, if you're going
to have one of our burgers, always start with the
most simplest burger, which is our graduation cheeseburger. My theory
is that if you can't get a cheeseburger right, and
you shouldn't be making because general And then our five
(12:03):
chicken sandwich is pretty, you know, pretty pretty up there.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
I'm a I'm a chicken man rather than a beef man,
and that is one of the best chicken burgers.
Speaker 7 (12:11):
I've ever had. Thank you, man, it's phenomenal.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
You kind of you pay homage to.
Speaker 7 (12:18):
Well. I actually had a dream of about him, so
that burger.
Speaker 8 (12:22):
Surprisingly, I heard a dream about Kenonel Sanders, and I
hope my wife is in listening, but I heard a
dream about Kenel Sanders and I was towering over his
office from behind his chair and looking over and I
don't know how, I don't know, man, this is freaky.
But I actually saw the eleven herbs and Spices recip
bey on his bench and I woke up the next day,
wrote it down and for about a week was try
(12:45):
Little Spices out and it came out pretty much identically
the KFC.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
That's wild.
Speaker 7 (12:50):
Yeah, so if you believe that, you probably believe anything.
Speaker 6 (12:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (12:58):
No, man, it's taken about four years to get that up.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
Or you've absolutely nailed it, thank you.
Speaker 7 (13:04):
Man.
Speaker 1 (13:04):
There's still one more day.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
This is going to go up on the Saturday, so
there's still a Sunday for people to come here.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (13:09):
If they miss out on the Sunday, do you reckon?
You'll be back to do another pop up event.
Speaker 8 (13:12):
I'm keen, like, oh man, camera is so underrated and
the guys who are QT like, I mean, I'm not
just saying it because they've they've hosted me. But the
field in the restaurant was amazing last night. Fantastic amazing man.
Speaker 7 (13:28):
But I mean, look, I'm I'm keen.
Speaker 8 (13:30):
I mean, if Zach wants to get the band back,
I'm down, man, I'm going to do another tour.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Could you sure it?
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Could it be a permanent shop that you open up here,
or you're just going to keep doing pop ups.
Speaker 8 (13:40):
We could definitely do a Berman in store. It's just
you know, if that's going to be the case, I
might have to move out of here.
Speaker 7 (13:46):
I don't know problem doing that.
Speaker 1 (13:48):
Man.
Speaker 7 (13:48):
I love Canberra, I.
Speaker 8 (13:49):
Mean, but like I said, I was it was actually
the first time I've actually ever been out here, and
I was I was surprised by the just overall community, yeah,
vibe and everyone of like as respect for each other.
The staff kind of all want to be working here
and they enjoy their.
Speaker 7 (14:05):
Craft and that's what's important.
Speaker 8 (14:07):
And it kind of shows, like like I said, the
server shows, the staff shows God like you, you know,
like you've you've been extremely nice and welcoming as well, man,
and I really appreciate you coming down and same as
that man.
Speaker 7 (14:21):
That's been like probably the best bike I've ever dealt with.
Speaker 8 (14:24):
Man, he's just a legend and you can see you
can see the passion, you know, like the conversation has
gone back and forth. Like at one time I think
my wife felt I was cheating on her because the
amount of conversations we're having just back and forward with
ideas and trying to get this kind of event going.
And it's paid off, you know, I mean, a show
(14:44):
is Zach's legion And yeah, I definitely come back.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
Man. It's been absolutely amazing and I'm so glad that
I got to come and experience. And like I said,
there is one more day tomorrow, So if you can't,
if you haven't been able to come in on Saturday,
come on the Sunday.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Otherwise you can have to try and come in.
Speaker 8 (15:01):
Early as you can, because I actually reckon I'm going
to say out tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
I'm surprised you haven't sold out so far. Today.
Speaker 4 (15:06):
We're recording this at about like three point thirty, So yeah,
come in early tomorrow. It starts at eleven thirty and
just enjoy the college dropout burgers. Trust me from a
chicken connoisseur, one of the best chicken burgers you'll ever
have in your life, guaranteed, Mark, thank you so much
for thanks.
Speaker 7 (15:19):
For having me.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Man.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
