Speaker 1 (00:00):
Water up.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
Oh my goodness, the food looks and smells amazing.

Speaker 1 (00:04):
I have you hungry? This is this Salvas podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
Hello, and welcome back to Served, where we are serving
you up a ton of great foody suggestions here in
the acc I am your host, Mick Carojuana. And on
today's episode, I've got another mixed bucket list. It's a
place It has actually been on the list since day.

Speaker 1 (00:22):
One, about time I ticked it off.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
Plus, I've got some recommendations for places to get salads
because my sister one of them. And also we are
in the middle of spring, it is perfect salad season
and I will be ranking my favorite shape flames. There
are some controversial choices that is all on the way
in today's episode, I've served. If you don't have a

(00:48):
fooity bucket list, then you need to make one. Honestly,
it's the perfect excuse for you to go and try
new places or in this instance, an old place that
is changed up their style.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Now's the food Dude Nigs bucket list.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
The place in question today is Monster Kitchen and Bar,
who back in twenty twenty switched to being an all
vegetarian restaurant. I went for a nice team dinner there
with the camber Rap squad, and with three of the
five of us having dietary requirements and two of them
being vegetarian and.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Vegan, it was the perfect location. I was amazed.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
The place has been on my bucket list since twenty eighteen,
and I'd been to one of their weekend breakfast sittings before,
which was beautiful, but I knew I needed to experience
it in its fullest by going for dinner. Rod and
Hayley both raved about this place like there was no tomorrow,
and they recommended getting the Monster chips and the broccolini
for starters, and god damn, I don't know what they

(01:43):
do with their chippies over there at Monster, but they
were so fluffing on the inside and crunchy on the outside.
And the truffle ponzu QP dipping sauce cool elite bottle
that up and sell it. You will make a profit instantly.
The charred broccolini too, was just gorgeous. And the sam
Jang dressing that they had with it, oh, it was beautiful.

(02:04):
And I'm not too sure if the sam Jang dressing
was on top of it or it was like the
creamy sort of stuff that was underneath. I was about
to say a complete meal. The main though, I tossed
up between the cabbage and cottage cheese momos or the
spinach nudy, and I ended up going with the ladder
for the main reason that it came with barrata and
I'm a huge fan of barrata cheese. Now, there were

(02:25):
five of these little cheese dumplings, and while it didn't
look like a lot when the plate was put down
in front of me, it was more than enough. It
was super rich and super filling. As well as of
course being super delicious. Rod got the zatar roasted cauliflower,
and Hailey, Gabby and Sammy got the butternut squash katsu,
and well, being the guy that I am, I of

(02:46):
course asked for a try of all of theirs and
they were.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
All just yummers.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
I don't know if that's a word, but it's a
word now, yummers. The couliflower was just a full half
a cauliflower roasted and then put on top of bed
of hormus. Oh, it was gorgeous. And the katsu too,
that was fantastic. They actually pour over the katsu sauce
on top of it too. It's like a little artwork.
It's gorgeous. But dessert, I got these Snickers, which is
just like a fun little dessert, kind of made to

(03:12):
resemble the flavors of a Snickers but not actually be
a Snickers bar. Extremely tasty, and I was a bit
hesitant on the banana ice cream.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
That came with it.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
It was actually quite nice and surprisingly, I am I
don't mind banana ice cream. Now I need to give
it a go somewhere else to see if I do
like it or if these guys just absolutely nailed it
out of the park.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
But the banana ice cream, it was super creamy. It
was refreshing.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
I never thought I'd say it, but there you go.
I like banana ice cream. Monster Kitchen and Bar is
now ticked off my bucket list finally after five years.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Michael, come on, if you have not.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Gone, regardless of whether you're a vegetarian or not, it
should definitely be on your bucket list too. The other day,
my sister said to me, Mick, you've been talking about
a lot of burgers lately. Can you recommend a good salad?
And to Kate, well, I say, one burger is a
way better than salad, so of course I'm going to

(04:07):
talk more about them than I am salads.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
But two, Margot, you covered.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
I have five suggestions on where to get the best
salads here in the nation's capital. The first is a
recommendation from Hannah who said eighty twenty is the way
to go and to get these super salad with added
grilled salmon hell to the Yes, I do love a
good grilled salmon salad and it has the word super
in it too, so what more could you want. Plus,
they've got so many locations around Cambra two, so no

(04:33):
matter where you are, you've got a super nice salad
within touching distance, Mortz said e Q Bakehouse, who now
have a new shop opened up at the top of
the camera center Upney Kingpin. A few salads depending on
the location you go to, include a Thai grilled chicken salad,
a caesar a mozzarella salad, and a rainbow quenwa and
feta salad, just to name a few. The goods Whole
Food in the city are salad central, like sesame tofu

(04:56):
kaled chicken. They have a faluffle bowl and a miso
salmon salad. Well, I mean if none of them to
your fancy. You can also just make your own from
twelve bucks yet to pick a base or two, add
four toppings and a dressing, butter bing butter boom. You
can also add premium editions or get this, turn it
into a wrap. I like the sound of that. That

(05:18):
is one way to spice up your salad. A bite
to eat in Chiffley is not only a fan bloody
tastic place. It's got a few cheeky salads on the
menu too that are stunners. Kalamari and noodle salad and
the lamb kofta with a cuscous salad a top tier.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
But the spicy pancakes.

Speaker 2 (05:32):
The harvest bowl and the zucchini corn fritters, well they're
basically salads too. If you look at the way that
they present it, I would count it as a salad. Okay,
it is a stretch, but just trust me. And then lastly,
I mean no list is complete without a mention of
soul origin. Some don't like it, but it's easy, it's cheap,
and it's a healthier option too. Whatever salad you get there, though,
make sure you get the lime mayo on top of it.

(05:54):
It will enhance any item you get, but that concludes
my salad list. Kate, I hope it fulfilled expectations. If
you've been to all those places, I am sorry. I
couldn't think of a new one. If there are ones
that I haven't mentioned, then go and shoot a message
over at our Instagram page served Double Underscore Podcast, because well, look,
let's be real, I'm sure Kate would love to have

(06:16):
more recommendations.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
The more the merrier.

Speaker 2 (06:24):
Okay, this has been building for a while, and while
it's not the climax of what I was hoping for,
it needs to be done.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Today.

Speaker 2 (06:32):
I am ranking the ARNTS Shapes flavors over on their Instagram.
They are currently doing an NRL Final style bracket with
some controversial victories. It's chicken versus barbecue in the final.
I'm going to do something different to them, just the
stock standard way. I'm just going to give you my
top eight flavors before we get into mind though, I
have done research around this topic. I asked listeners over

(06:54):
the months about their favorite flavor of Shape, and the
research says that chicken crimpy is the favorite, with twenty
three point one percent of people choosing. That second is
pizza with nineteen point two percent, and barbecue gets bronze
with fifteen point four. Shockingly, in my eyes, Nacho cheese
is fourth with thirteen point five percent. Then it goes

(07:14):
cheese and bacon with eleven point five, Vegimite and cheese
with seven point seven, Cheddar at five point eight, and
then Little Old Savory dead last with three point eight percent.
That's your ranking, Now on to mine. In last place,
I have nacho cheese. I'm shocked that I got fourth,
but in my eyes, I don't rate it that highly,
just above it though. In seventh it is Cheddar. I

(07:35):
just I don't know what it is. But I'm just
not a huge fan of the cheese, only related shapes,
and that's where we'll leave it. In sixth and the
biggest four of them all, I have Chicken Crimpy, I.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Now start moomy.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Okay, this is just personal preference. I just don't think
I rate them that highly at all. Like everyone raves
about the Chicken Crimpy and I've just never seen anything
special about them. You might also be putting it at
this low because the people that talk about Chicken Crimpy
is being the best need to be brung down or
rung okay and learn their place in society. You know
that you're not the best, that there's still some out

(08:10):
there that are trying to fight for number one. Like
give me a chicken drumstick every day of the week,
but at chicken crimpy, I don't know, It's just not
for me. Fifth, I have savory, and fourth is cheese
and bacon, both great, but I never feel like it.
I just want to eat a full box of them,
you know, like I have a few of them here
or there, but I don't want to dig right into it.
Coming in third, and just like you look at us,

(08:30):
we do actually agree on something. I've got barbecue. It's
a classic and absolute staple. It deserves to be in
the top three every single time you have this conversation.
In second, it's another controversial pick. But I have veggiemite
and cheese. What a flavor. Honestly, I am glad that
they made it one of the flavors that stay on
the shelves year round because it is by far one

(08:52):
of the best ones. If you haven't tried the veggiemite
and cheese shapes before, go and do it. It's also
the best shape because it's in the shape of Australia
rather than a hexagon or a.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Whatever.

Speaker 2 (09:04):
The cheese and bacon one is a rectangle that's just
trying to be skinny. You know, these are by far
the quirkiest shapes, and they taste incredible. You still taste veggie, Mike,
it doesn't taste artificial. Oh yes, So that means obviously
Number one is the pizza shape, not only for its

(09:25):
beautiful flavor, not because it's that nice slim hexagonal shape
that's just easy to pick up to have in your
hands and you're shoving your mouth. It's all because of
the seasoning that you find at the bottom of the packet.
There is always so much. You just lick your fingers,
you dip it in and oh my gosh, they are
just all covered.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
It is delicious.

Speaker 2 (09:44):
Or you can just do what I always do and
just tip the bag up to your mouth and it's
just like a shower of pizza flavoring. Or yes, please,
it is honestly perfect. It's the best flavoring by far.
I wish because they brought out barbecue flavoring that you
can put on like chips and everything like that. I
really wish they did that with the pizza ones, but

(10:05):
not make it like a little salt. Keep it with
the same chunkiness that they've got in those packets.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Oh if heaven was.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
An Arnot shape, it's pizza every single time. And that
right there is my ranking of Arnot's shapes, flavors, and scene.
And that's it for another episode I've served. I will
be back next week for the last episode ever, Yes,

(10:34):
that is right served, will be going out to the
field upstate to play with all the other little podcasts
up there. I've accepted an awesome job up in Woollongong
at waiver m being an on air announcer and.

Speaker 1 (10:46):
A producer there for the Drive Show.

Speaker 2 (10:48):
But it does mean that I won't have time to
continue the podcast. The Instagram page will still be up
and running, of course, and I do hope to do
the podcast sometime again in the near future, but as
for now, it will be finishing up next week. We
will save the tears and all this for them.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
As for now, I'll chat to you labee. Well that's it.
You filled up on all the food content. You could
still a little.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
