Do you find yourself frequently comparing yourself to others? Comparison is a totally normal part of human existence. It can help people to have more ambition and propel them into entrepreneurship and leadership positions. However, it can also be a damaging tool if used incorrectly. Today, co-hosts Ben Easter and Clayton Olson discuss how to stop comparing yourself to others and start centering yourself in your life experiences.

Comparison exists because humans are social creatures, and we rely on others to survive in the world. However, it can easily get out of hand. Especially in today’s age of social media and unfettered access to what we perceive to be other people’s realities. In truth, you cannot know someone else’s inner experiences and all comparisons you make are actually a projection of your own beliefs. To stop comparison when it becomes toxic, focus on your own progress rather than being in some fantasy competition with others.

Everyone compares themselves to others. It can be a great tool for motivating yourself and temperature checking where you stand in a group. But when comparison starts to feel bad or get in the way of your progress, that is when it is important to re-evaluate and center yourself in the reality of your life.
