Dane Shoemaker (00:03):
Welcome to the
Shoemaker Lab. This is your
host, Dane Shoemaker. This isthe official podcast of
Shoemaker Films. We're a videoproduction and digital marketing
agency based in the GreaterPhiladelphia area. Today's
episode, we're gonna be divinginto how we work with clients to
produce, content on a regularbasis.
So for those clients that wereproducing a regular syndicated
(00:26):
weekly, YouTube, show orpodcast, or we're doing social
media content for. This is howwe work with clients. There was
a past episode where we talkedabout, developing a content
strategy. You're gonna wannacheck that out. Once we have the
content strategy, this isbasically how we execute this.
(00:46):
So if you're an entrepreneur, you're a small business owner,
you have a lot of hats to wear. You have you do not have a lot
of time on your plate. However, marketing is how your business
grows. Right? You need to tellpeople what you do.
You need to let people knowabout what you do, where your
business is, what you offer, things like that. We can help
you with that. So our, proprietary subscription model
(01:10):
is where, you know, we'llactually come into your business
either, you know, 4 or 5, 6hours a a month, and that pre
that creates upwards of 80 to a100 pieces of content every
month. So you're reallymaximizing your time as an
entrepreneur, as a smallbusiness owner, because a couple
hours a month with us turnsinto, tons of content for
(01:33):
YouTube, for a podcast, for yoursocial media. So let's walk
through how we kinda break thatdown.
And, yeah, if you have questionsafter the podcast, please drop
them in the in the commentsbelow, or you can send us an
email. Just go to our website,shoemakerfilms.com/contact. So
let's jump into ClickUp now, andwe'll walk through that. This is
(01:56):
the, whiteboard function insideof ClickUp. It's very handy.
So let's when we work withclients, right, on developing a
content strategy, oftentimes wewill start with sort of our, you
know, main piece of content.Right? That might be, you know,
a main, podcast or YouTube show. You know, this might be once a
(02:20):
week. Right?
Maybe it's every other week, something like that. But really
it's a single long form piece ofcontent. You know, this might
be, you know, 30 to 45 minutesin length. Right? That's one day
a month where we go into yourbusiness and we film, you know,
(02:45):
typically, we're we're planningahead, you know, ahead of that
and we're discussing what thetopics that we're gonna do.
We're usually gonna do 3, 4, 5,maybe, you know, 6 episodes in
one day to really maximize yourtime. Right? So once we have the
main episode filmed, this thenwe can take the audio from that.
(03:12):
Right? This audio will be put onSpotify, Apple Podcasts, you
know, Iheartmedia.
Typically, we use a tool calledtransistor that puts, the audio
out to a dozen or so differentplatforms. Right? So in addition
(03:37):
to the audio, obviously, youhave the video as well. So, you
know, this is gonna go onYouTube. Right?
So that video is now on YouTube.Right? So we've we've developed
that piece of content and that'snow a piece of audio and a piece
of, you know, a piece of, videocontent. Right? We can also take
(04:02):
this, video.
You know, maybe you have a blog.Right? You know, instead of just
relying on YouTube, maybe youwant to put that episode, that
(04:26):
video out on a blog, right? Andit's a, an actual written
article now. Right?
So you have the video, you havethe audio, and you have a
written article now that all isthe same piece of content. So
(04:49):
from there, we're gonna take thelong form episode and we're
gonna turn that into short formvideo. Right? So what that is
TikTok, YouTube shorts, IG,Instagram, Facebook reels.
Right?
So from one YouTube video, youcan generate, you know, really a
(05:13):
lot of content, a lot of shorts.Right? So typically what we do
for our clients is anywhere from4 to 5 per episode. But you
could, in theory, do 10 or more.Right?
It all depends on, you know, howmuch content you wanna make,
from that. Right? So we're justgonna put this all here on one
(05:36):
row for the sake of simplicity.Right? From that single long
form video, we have, let's callit 4 shorts.
Again, you can do 5, 6, 7, 10,15. As long as there's enough
content in there that makessense, you can do that. Right?
From the article, right, fromthe writ written article, a lot
(05:57):
of times what we'll do isactually take, you know, AI
assisted. We'll take thetranscript from the video.
We'll use that as kind of astarting point and then clean
that up and turn that into ablog. You can pull out the key
points from the blog and thosebecome your tweets, or x's,
(06:22):
whatever they're called now, youknow, threads, LinkedIn post.
Right? Any sort of shorter form, written copy. Right?
Written content, you know, andthese obviously, these key
points are probably related tothese videos. Right? So if
you're gonna do a short fromhere, that short could be a
(06:44):
standalone, you know, post orsomething like that on, on x or
threads or LinkedIn. You know, there's a plenty of other
platforms out there. Right?
On top of that, there's, youknow, there's plenty of, other
ways to repurpose some of thiscontent. Carousels are carousels
(07:14):
are those nice, basically, slideshows, right, that you flip
through on Instagram. LinkedIndoes a has a good, application
of this through PDFs. So thesebecome basically a summary of
maybe the video. Maybe it's asummary of one of the key a
couple key points, or a summaryof a video.
Right? So you have static post, maybe a photo or screenshot
(07:37):
that's summarizing one of thesekey points from LinkedIn, or a
carousel where it's actuallylike a slideshow that kinda
summarizes that full video, thefull article, or one of these
individual videos. Right? Soagain, this is this is really
breaking it down from one pieceof content you get, you know,
(07:59):
let's call it a dozen or so.Right?
So now we're doing this multipletimes over though. Right? So one
production day, we're actuallydoing 4 episodes. Right? So in a
4 to 5 period episode, we'reactually filming 4 episodes.
(08:19):
And from there, you're getting40, 50, 60 pieces of content
that's going out per month.Right? So this is really just
tactically how how we look atcreating content for our
clients. Again, it's really allabout repurposing, readapting,
ideas. So you have one main ideaand that gets distributed out to
(08:44):
all of the platforms, LinkedIn,threads, x, you know, Instagram,
Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, all the audio streaming
platforms.
So it's a great way to maximizeyour time. If you're a busy
entrepreneur, you only have acouple hours a month. We can
turn those couple hours into alot of content to support your
(09:07):
marketing effort. So, if that'ssomething that you're interested
in learning more about, pleaseget in touch with us. We can,
you know, happy to break thisout, with you and do some
brainstorming and see if we canhelp you out.
Till next time. Thank you. Thanks for listening today.
