SPEAKER_00 (00:03):
Welcome to the Show Up Society podcast, where I help
you get super clear on what youreally want so you can focus on
doing the things that reallymatter to you instead of getting
overwhelmed with all the extra.
I also hope you learn how to bekinder to yourself so you can
overcome perfectionism, peoplepleasing, and your inner critic.
I'm Life and Business CoachTammy Bennett, and I'm about to

(00:24):
help you show up for the lifeyou want to live.
Hello, hello, hello, friend.
I am recording this from a hotelroom, and I have my two little
doggies with me, and they areplaying all over the place.
So if you hear little baby dogpanting in the background, or if
it's bad sound quality, you canjust blame it on me being in a

(00:45):
hotel room.
Why am I in a hotel room?
I am driving across the countrywith my husband and our two
doggies.
Which brings me to the wholepoint of today's podcast episode
that I am going to call Findinga Pocket of Peace.
So, like I said, my husband andI are driving across the country
from Portland, Oregon to Lehigh,Pennsylvania to watch our

(01:09):
daughter uh compete in across-country race.
And then we're gonna visitfamily and do lots of other
things, lots of other fun stuff.
Uh, but we have a really tightdeadline, and so we are driving
uh 12-ish hours a day in the carfor like 13 to 15.
And one really, really cool kindof unexpected thing that has

(01:30):
come out of this trip is that Ihave found some really big,
beautiful pockets of peace.
So um we are, I don't even knowwhere to start.
It has just been an amazingtrip.
We have seen really cool thingslike the Aurora Borealis or
Northern Lights.
Uh I guess there was a solarflare a night or two ago that

(01:52):
caused us to be able to see thenorthern lights, which was so
beautiful.
It's been on my bucket list.
Uh, it made me almost cry.
It was just so gorgeous, and wetook really great photos.
It was amazing.
We've also seen, of course, amazing stars, and we've seen
beautiful sunrises.
We've seen really cool animals, like millions of cow and sheep

(02:12):
and horses, but also some kindof antelope.
We've seen prairie dogs,alpacas.
It's been amazing.
Um, and our dogs have beenincredible.
We are stopping every three-ishhours.
We're giving the dogs thesebeautiful walks.
They uh are so happy.
They have literally, we've saidthat they are smiling and we're

(02:33):
running them around in thegrass, and they're actually
getting more walks and moreoutside time um and more running
in fields than they do at home.
So it's been really great forthem.
They're being so good in thecar.
Um, but I think the thing thatI've noticed so much is that my
phone isn't working.
I barely get any service at all.

(02:55):
So I have spent less than 20minutes a day on my phone.
I am barely checking socialmedia.
I've done a couple client emailsand I've replied to a couple
people on Instagram, and that'sit.
So I'm not reading politics, Iam not reading drama and troll
comments, I'm not being onsocial media, just the quick
check-in of emails when we getto a city that's big and that

(03:18):
has service, but we've beenreally trying to keep our stops,
our um stops to just like pottybreaks, food, walking the dogs,
running the dogs, and and umlike gas, right?
So we're trying to keep our ourstops very lean.
So we're not sitting around, youknow, playing on the internet
and playing on the phone.
So while we're in the car, thereare moments of, I think in the

(03:40):
books they call it companionablesilence, where there are
stretches for a period of timewhere we're both just in
silence.
There are times when we'relistening to really great music.
Um, our daughters both each sentus their like mixtape basically
uh for our road trip, and thatwas so nice of them, and it's
really cool for us to hear whatkind of music they listen to.

(04:01):
Um, so anyway, so there's timesof silence, there's times of
good music, and then there'sbeen tons of talking and you
know, silly jokes, go, you know,at the 10th or 11th or 13th hour
of us being in the car, we havesome very funny conversations.
Um, but also more kind of uh Idon't want to say serious, but

(04:21):
more just like meaningfulconversations.
So what I realized, like after aday or two of this, is I feel
this tremendous sense of peacefrom just being really present
in the moment and having goodconversations, from uh seeing
new scenery, new sights, beingin love with our planet and in

(04:42):
love with uh the parts of thecountry that I really haven't
seen that much, and uh beingaway from social media and
politics and mean people on theinternet, right?
And so I just wanted to I Ithink okay, so so one thing I
wanted to point out is howbeautiful it is to have this

(05:03):
pocket of peace, how it feelslike it is changing my mental
health.
So that's beautiful.
Another beautiful part that camefrom that is today, um, in one
of the conversations that myhusband and I were having, I
basically planned out my whole2026 for my business.

(05:23):
So the kind of goals, the kindof projects that I want to do,
the sort of monthly plan.
I pretty much have the whole2026 mapped out, and I couldn't
have done that so easily andefficiently and cleanly and just
with with such good energy if Ihadn't found these huge pockets
of peace for the days leading upto that.

(05:44):
And so, sort of the point ofthis whole podcast, this very
tiny episode today, is to uhencourage you to go find or
create your own pocket of peace.
This doesn't mean you have totake a 3,000 mile road trip
with, you know, doggies and apartner.
All it means is how can youcreate some kind of peace?

(06:04):
How can you create some kind ofvacation away from politics and
social media and internettrolls?
How can you find some moments ofsilence?
How can you find some moments oflooking around at nature and
appreciating it and beinggrateful for it and running
through it with a smile on yourface?
How can you change the scenery, right?

(06:25):
How can you stop and look aroundand be present?
How can you find these momentsof peace?
So, whatever that looks like foryou, this is your encouragement
to go do that.
And it doesn't have to be fordays at a time.
It can literally be for fiveminutes, step outside, maybe
barefoot and walk around on thegrass or the sand or gravel,
whatever you're on, but just tofind some pockets of peace where

(06:47):
you're just stepping away fromit all and just coming back to
sort of the essence of who youare and what you're about.
And I think that you'll findsome really kind of magical,
productive, clear thinking comesout on the other side of it,
just like it did for me with mysort of business plan.
I didn't even plan to do it.
It was just in in conversationbecause I had such clarity of

(07:10):
mind and spirit that it justfelt like a really energizing
way to use my time and mythoughts.
So here is your encouragement tofind your pocket of peace and
see what comes out on the otherside.

now.
I hope that you're able to hearthem, but they are what we call
backfighting, where they bothlay down on their backs and they

(08:12):
just kind of play fight witheach other.

room and backfighting.
