Her research focuses on HIV infection in women, pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), and innovative methods for tracking antiretroviral levels in resource-poor settings.
Dr. Gandhi is also a dedicated educator and mentor, leading programs that nurture early-career investigators in HIV research. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she became a prominent voice on vaccine equity and treatment strategies, co-authoring chapters on COVID-19 for major medical textbooks and penning a book on pandemic lessons, Endemic: Lessons from HIV for COVID-19. Her numerous awards include the Sarlo Award for Teaching Excellence and the Defender of Humanity Award.
