To help them survive in the creative wilderness.

(00:23):
Hello and welcome to the latest episode of Trans Guy Tarot.
What's up my dudes? I'm going to be doing a little
tarot reading for y'all. I am using again the Grateful
Dead official deck, so if you want to get your own, that is
what it is. I love the the cards and just

(00:44):
the general vibes of the deck are very I guess they're
actually a little sinister because it's all skeletons, but
it is almost Halloween so it feels appropriate.
OK and also I just wanted to acknowledge for those watching
on video, I am wearing camouflage just so I can blend
into the Bush. OK, but I'm going to do this

(01:08):
reading for Tuesday, October 28th through November 3rd, which
is the Monday right before voting day.
I do also want to throw out there because the the vote for
midterms is coming up. This is a really important vote.
You know, if you have any like local elected officials or, you

(01:28):
know, local state senators, mayors, they are also important
right now when the federal government is tanking, this is
where you can actually make an impact locally.
And then also, I would say it sends a really big message to
Republicans who are riding the Trump wave right now who maybe
don't agree with him but are afraid of losing their seats.

(01:50):
So if you want to send them a message like, oh, we are not on
board in any way, shape or form.Like I think, you know, we kind
of have to pull the the right over as much as we need to
organize the Democrats, which iscompletely another story all
together. If you do want to volunteer, a

(02:11):
great way to volunteer that I'vementioned before in the podcast
is tech for campaigns. And it's a organization that
provides tech support to local campaigns or state state-run
campaigns, usually in red or purple states.
So the the stakes of the elections are usually pretty
high and the budgets are usuallypretty small.

(02:33):
So you volunteer your time either as a website designer, a
developer, a copywriter, you canbe like the lead organizer and
it honestly only takes like 2 hours a week, maybe a little bit
more. But I like it because you get to
see concrete support that you'reproviding to these campaigns and

(02:55):
like know that you're really making a difference in them
getting the word out about theircampaign either through
advertisements or text campaignsor their website.
So tech for campaigns.org, that's my little plug.
All right, You didn't know that you were getting that with this
tarot reading, but got to slip it in.
OK, so we have one card for the week as kind of general energies

(03:19):
and then one card counter energies complimentary.
You know, I guess we're going tokind of find out.
Oh, OK. I will say that I did this
reading once yesterday and then got interrupted by some car

(03:41):
noise in the neighborhood, and this reading is way better, so
I'm just gonna delight in that. OK, so the energy of the week is
actually Terrapin, which is a tiny little turtle of roses.
So it's Ace of Cups is essentially the equivalent.
But look at that little turtle. Look at how cute he is.

(04:03):
He's so cute and happy. Yeah.
So this one's interesting because the ace of cups can
often mean just like, total overwhelm, you know, with, like
water spilling out of the ace cup and, and new and abundance
and all that. But there is this feeling of

(04:24):
like, potentially it can be likea little bit too much the
Terrapin, since he's sitting on a Lily pad and not touching the
water, he's holding a rose instead.
Does feel a little earthier For those watching on video, I'm
holding up the card. If you're not, you can go and
check this out on the podcast orYouTube.

(04:49):
I'm sorry, on Spotify or YouTube.
So yeah, I would say this littleturtle seems very happy.
He's dry. He's got his rose.
It's shedding some things. I was like, you know, in terms
of how I read tarot, I do go from the original meaning, you
know, that you're taught about each of the suits and each of

(05:10):
the cards and everything. But I also really like to focus
in on the imagery of each card as a way to kind of respond to
the unique properties of each deck.
And I think each deck that you have, if you are a tarot card
hoarder, can kind of like conveydifferent things.
So I like to definitely go off of my own intuition about what I

(05:33):
see in the card rather than following along to just like the
standard meaning of something. So in this case, I'm really
seeing the turtle. So I feel like, you know, like
the idea of the turtle is that it's someone who can hide in
their shell, but in this case, they're fully out.
So I think there's something about being fully out, you know,

(05:56):
like if you're looking for a time to come out, be yourself,
meet new people with your new identity.
You know, I just started doing readings with video for my blog
art date, and it's very personalcontent.
So I think in the past I've beenlike hiding behind just writing

(06:16):
and then to put myself on video more with like these videos and
also reading of doing a video, reading my essays.
It's it's very vulnerable and squishy.
But I also think it's kind of cool because video conveys a lot
of information, like, I don't know, you know, it's cool to be
able to put out my new identity for those like needing a mirror

(06:40):
of some kind, I don't know. So yeah, I would say put
yourself out there and think of,you know, the new opportunities
that might come from being yourself rather.
And I think the water in this case too could be like flow.

(07:01):
Like allow for the flow to happen by being yourself.
Like whatever pitcher you're pouring something out of will
change the flow of the water. So if it's like the most
authentic pitcher, it's going toflow naturally from you rather
than be a challenge. So I think there's something
about that too, with all the water in this image.

(07:24):
The complimentary, complimentaryslash like conflicting energy is
the musician, which is the same as the magician.
And this is also kind of a beginnings card.
It's got some Gemini air. So maybe a little bit of a
compliment to the wateriness of the Ace of Cups, Ace of Roses in

(07:50):
this case, you know, the musician is not facing us.
And there feels like there's definitely like a visioning
going on as the skeleton like isturned away from us looking
towards the sun, which we don't know.
Is it rising? Is it setting?

(08:11):
But I think what I'm really seeing is transition.
I'm seeing a flag that says don't tread on me, which makes
me think of, you know, all the people dealing with the just
daily attacks on LGBTQ existence.
Like, I don't know if you seen the news recently, but on air
and in the morning, she just posted about the Department of

(08:34):
Agriculture saying that they weren't, you know, gonna move
any of their legislation around the the funding forward and that
it's the Democrats fault becausethey're funding gender
mutilation. You know, so I can see like, you
know, if you, like me, are goingthrough gender affirming care or
you've been doing it for a long time, like that is a lot to take

(08:57):
in. And I think finding ways to
articulate your stance either ona personal level or on a really
public political level, say, hey, actually, it's not OK that
you do that. I deserve to be here just like
everyone else. Trans rights are humans rights.

(09:20):
Queer rights are human rights. And the musician makes me feel
like there's an audience for whatever it is that you're
trying to do. So if you know you're coming
out, you're being yourself in whatever way it could be nothing
to do with gender, but this is the trans guy tarot.

(09:41):
Trust that there are going to bethese little bears that are
ready to dance to your music. It might not be a massive
audience or group of friends or community or whatever, depending
on where you live. But I feel like the musician is
saying if you were given the idea and it comes from a really
pure authentic place, there is going to be an audience.

(10:03):
There is going to be a need. So like follow that.
And they both feel kind of like tender, vulnerable cards.
So I would say just be gentle with yourself, you know, like
buy yourself some flowers. Maybe I'm holding up the the Ace
of Tarapin or the Tarapin of Roses again, you know, like

(10:25):
treat yourself a little bit because change and growth and
putting your neck out there, they can take a toll, you know,
'cause not everyone's for you and you're not for everyone.
So I think some of it is having an OK ego around.

(10:47):
I'm good enough even if, like, Idon't have a million Instagram
followers or if I'm not, like, the most popular Blogger on
Substack or whatever it is. Yeah.
And there's flowers in the background of the musician, too.
So it feels like a call to get to nature and let things simmer

(11:09):
a little bit, you know, changes in the air.
This is a really radical time for transformation.
Pluto's gonna be out of bounds, which is not something I feel
qualified to talk about. But it basically is about the
shifting of the guard. Like we've been kind of going
through different ups and downs of that transit and the movement

(11:30):
is now towards supporting the people versus the people in
power. So if you feel like you don't
have it in you, just trust that actually we are all equal and
you will be given the resources that you need.
And they may be not the ones that you want, but just trust
that whatever you have is enoughto make a difference.

(11:52):
Maybe not to the extent that youwere thinking you wanted, but
you know, every little bit helpsand people have the power and
all that. So, OK, I hope that helps you go
through the week. It's a little vague, but I would
say just be yourself and trust that there will be a nut to
catch you if you feel like you're leaping into the void.
So have a good one. If you want to follow along, our

(12:16):
date you may have heard is now on medium.com.
My handle is TiVo to studio. I'll put it in the show notes.
I also am now doing video. So if you're getting the Medium
blog and you're signed up, you don't have to go and read it on
Medium. I'm doing a lot of paid posts.

(12:36):
But this way you can also go directly to the video and listen
instead of going through to Medium.
Because I, I wanted to figure out a way to make the content
free as well as, you know, give us a chance to monetize me and
the other Medium writers. Cause all Medium memberships go
to all writers on the site. So yeah, if you feel like

(13:00):
monetizing $5 a month on Medium, otherwise you can watch for free
on YouTube. It'll be unlinked.
So you have to go through my mailing list, but yeah, that's
about it for now. And hopefully new, new episode
of the Side Woo on Thursday, tryto get that together.

(13:20):
Thanks so much for listening. Good luck out there.
