Speaker 1 (00:37):
Anchors up sails at food. What can be subcasting?

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Roger?

Speaker 1 (00:42):
How are you? But you know we fish good fishes.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Yes, take it a week off for Yeah, taken a
week off. We're doing that for Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
We're gonna blame it, all right, I will say this.
You promise this is the first beer.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Of the day.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
Well no, I mean, seriously, it is.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
There's no way to prove it or prove it or
not to prove it.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
So well, my my, my, my lawyer just entered the chat.
So you're gonna talk to him about it if you
feel like I feel like you need, you know, further proof.
You can't prove it wasn't or was it was or
wasn't hearsay you're on, I am defending you. I forgot

(01:40):
what side I was on.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
H Yeah, all right, a little bit different Cleinch Chaos
episode here. Uh only four games to cover, only four
games here, and yeah, we'll just we're just going to
start an order of when the lack of chaos I mean,

(02:04):
I mean technically technically half of the games were where
the underdog did win. If you want to be raise up,
raise up the glasses there, if you want.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
To be uh yeah, well not not either of the
ones that would have been fun, not not either of
the ones that would have been true chaos. We went.
I'm not yeah, I mean it wasn't like true chalk.
We didn't go to the chalk. But like, yeah, it's
no huge surprises to too small surprises, at least for me,

(02:40):
I was expecting. I was pretty fifty fifty on Bama Oklahoma,
but but I was expecting a Texas A and m
win personally speaking. But Kyle said he wanted to start somewhere,
and I don't think. I think I where we were.

(03:01):
Where are we starting, Kyle? God, we think what We're
just going to stay I'm a mess.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
We're just going to start with them in order of
when the games happened. So let's start with Alabama and Oklahoma.
Okay it We've said it for a number of years
and it's and it still holds true. Jared, it is
hard to beat a team two times in the same season. Sure,

(03:30):
and Alabama comes up with a win thirty four to
twenty four, and like I think, like me and a
lot of people saw the score seventeen to nothing, and
it was like, holy holy shit, Alabama's hot garbage, Like
they have the past three games. Uh, at the end

(03:53):
of the season here like, oh, here we go. Shoot,
Alabama have been in and they had like I think
the first or a quarter and a half only had
like twenty eight yards something like that of total offense.
It was hot, garbage, hot garbage of Alabama. But credit
to them and credit to Oklahoma turning the ball over.

(04:15):
Alabama stormed back, took advantage of all those turnovers. How
many turnovers did they have? It was just one. I
felt like it was a lot more than that. I guess.
I guess the bad puns and all that helped out too, right, right,
But yeah, it is amazing looking at this, Jared, how

(04:39):
Alabama won this game where Oklahoma beat them in every
major category. Are on this offensive on the offensive stats
three for seventy more yards rushed more which both teams
were absolutely garbage rushing rushing the ball. Alabama was two

(05:04):
for twelve on third downs. Well Oklahoma was seven for eighteen.
But yeah, but yeah, Alabama scored thirty four points.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
But yeah, a lot of this if you just look
at the stats and try and reconcile that with the
actual result, it doesn't make a lot of sense. You
think you know, as you said, Oklahoma wins all the
major stat categories, third downs, fourth downs, yards, time of possession,

(05:41):
the turnover. However, Alabama wins by not committing any return
yards and you know, probably punting yards. Orthough I don't
have that statistic. Oh yes I do. Yeah, Oklahoma only
punts the ball one time, but it was for seventeen yards,

(06:03):
which is basically another turnover. So you look a little
deeper into the stats, you start to see what happened.
But yeah, it doesn't make like the they had a
let's see, where is it here? Yards per play? Both

(06:23):
teams identically four point eight, both teams identically four point eight.
You wouldn't necessarily translate both teams having what is a
pretty low yards per play average into a thirty four
to twenty four football game, a peculiar game all around.

(06:47):
I I yeah, I don't know, it's I listen, I'm
just gonna say it. I think both of these teams
look like crap.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
They did, and I'm not I'm not worried about I
was not worried about either team, and then after this game,
I'm not worried about Alabama. No, this is not the
same Alabama. This is not the same Alabama in years
pass they they ran the ball, Jared, I'm reading the
stat right here. Twenty five times they for twenty eight
yards one point one yard per rush. How many drops

(07:25):
did Alabama have?

Speaker 1 (07:27):
I don't have drops in front of me. Let's I
don't know.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
I don't think I can. Yeah, I don't think I
can get that.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Yeah. No, It's one of those games. And and heck,
I do this all the time with Ohio State games too,
where I go back and I look at the stats
like in preparation for the show after watching it, and
it's just like, oh, that doesn't make a lot of sense.
Oh really, that is not at all how I thought
that was gonna look in this game was like, to

(08:02):
steal your phrase, Esquire, one big Mendela effect. But if
we're I think, if we're just trying to vibe check
the game, and I think I think, just as a
general vibe check between watching the game and looking at
the stats, I think both of these teams are exceedingly mediocre.

(08:23):
And it was really just a competition to see who
got to lose to Indiana because I don't think either
of these teams are going to beat Indiana.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
No, No, the way Indiana's defense has been and the
way that Alabama has not been able to run the ball. Yeah,
I feel very confident recording today, Jared that indian would
would easily.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Hear Indiana's not going to run the ball at all
against Oklahoma. What was no? I mean neither of these
teams could run the ball against each other.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
Yeah, neither one point again, one point one yard Alabama
ran and o'clement didn't do any better. One point seven
yards as well too, per run. Yeah, not worried at
not worried at all here.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Sue Indiania was unable to watch the game as a
team due to God. I'm really glad. I my mind
reads slightly ahead of my mouth. Prospects of getting to
play either of the teams. Yeah, no, it's you know,

(09:35):
they'll they'll watch the film and they'll do what they
have to do every hour or so while watching the film.
But yeah, they'll be fine. I was dying hoping you
weren't gonna catch it in time. Nah, my mind is
always one or two words ahead of my mouth. Don't
worry about that.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
Yeah, before going to the next game, Jared, six and
a half point is this current spread Indiana over Alabama.
Right now, that's a nice number right there. Six and
a half.

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Yeah, I I'm not gonna lie. I think the uniforms
are worth a few points there, uh huh, because I
think that probably should be more like nine and a half.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
That's what the Ohio state is over over the next
game we're going to talk about here, Miami.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Are we doing that one next? Should? Shouldn't we say
it's one of the games that we should actually talk
about for the second half the show so people don't
turn it off a second.

Speaker 2 (10:46):
I was just going in order of okay when the
games are playing, But I mean, if we would go
different route, that's fine.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Listen. And I'm just saying, if we cover the two
games that work total blowouts at the top of the show,
no one's going to listen past the ad break.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
All right, fine, we will, all right too, Lane and
Ole miss then okay, all right, let's let's talk. Let's
talk about that one. Then pulling up the the stay
at real quick here forty one to ten? Uh not
even not even close, not even not even close here,

(11:21):
too late too, Lane score or put up a bunch
of bunch of yards in that second half there I'm
trying to trying to find the exact exact numbers here.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (11:34):
Yeah, they put up a bunch of numbers in the
in the second half there, and it just yeah, it
just didn't matter forty one to ten here and yeah,
I had I had no question that ole miss Uh,
what's going to lose this game? Here? And yeah, they

(11:57):
just they just took care of business. I don't know
really much more and more to say than that.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
See, this is why we didn't do the two the
two premiere games before the ad break too, because this
would have been the entire second half of the show
of just being like, Okay, don't really know what to
say here now.

Speaker 2 (12:23):
Yeah, it's I think the big the big discussion then, Jared,
and You're gonna have a lot of You're gonna get
a lot of opinions both ways here with the lack
of showing from the two non Power for Conference teams here,

(12:48):
you're gonna have a lot of people. You're gonna have
a lot of people are saying top twelve, that's it. Sure,
this is what this is. Why just look at this game,
look at Tulane, look at JMU. You can look at
last last year too, Like there was. There was definitely
teams that you thought like they deserved to get in

(13:08):
because they were like blowouts last year as well.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
So a couple of thoughts on that one. I think
just the opportunity of having a monumental upset is so
huge that it's worth it. Just just to have the

(13:34):
possibility of an Oklahoma losing to a Boise Just just
have that opportunity is worth it.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Yeah, just a refresh and just a refresher last year.
This is so, this is two years in a row.

Speaker 3 (13:49):
Now.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
Last year Penn State ended up being both of them.
Penn State beats SMU thirty eight to ten, and then
Penn State beats Boise State thirty one to fourteen. So,
I mean, it's two years in a row. You can
really look at it and like should they should they not?

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Next year?

Speaker 2 (14:11):
But I see both sides of it. I'm I'm honestly torn,
Jared about Everyone loves a good cinder realist story. Everyone
loves a good Boise State statue of liberty play against Oklahoma.
Everybody loves that kind of story. But that's not what
the College Football Playoff is. It's the best team, the

(14:34):
best twelve teams in going at it for a national title,
and we just when you have the twelve best teams. Sorry,
like jam you and Tulane is is not it? They're
not it.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
I'm gonna say, I don't like that there are okay
SMU if you go back to last year, yeah, they
won the A C C they won the understand Yeah
like that's yes, that would have happened no matter what. Boy,

(15:12):
and if and if you're mad that, boys, you gotta
buye week or that there were two group of four's
or whatever we call them now in the ACC sucks
in in the playoffs now in both cases, simply blame
the ACC, the AC.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
The Big twelve didn't get any teams in last year,
yes they did. Oh no Arizona State, Arizona State did.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
I'm sorry, So just just blame the ACC. Simply blame
the a CC that that's it. We don't need to
complicate it past that. And I want I want a
group of five group whatever they're called now, I want
one of those teams. And I don't want two of

(16:00):
those teams in. I'll be on I don't want two
of those teams in. So the ACC maybe you should
just consider not sucking like genuinely speaking, has anyone considered
that the acc should just stop sucking? Because I think
that's the answer to that problem. And I tell you what,
I have a second if we call this a problem,

(16:24):
I know how this problem will fix itself in about
five years. But we'll save that for when we run
out of things to talk about. In regards to JMU and.

Speaker 2 (16:33):
Oregon, Sure, I think of all of the four games,
this one here, like, I didn't learn anything about ole Miss.
I didn't really learn anything here. So ale Miss plays.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Georgia. Oh who do they play Georgia?

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Georgia?

Speaker 1 (16:59):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, so, uh, Georgia should should destroy them.
I would imagine.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
Georgia versus Oh Miss. What would you think that line is?
Right now?

Speaker 1 (17:13):
Jared, I have no clue. It's it's hard to gauge
because it's old Miss without Lane Kiffen. And I don't
know how Vegas is enumerator.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
I think it opened at six and a half? Is
it is at seven and a half now?

Speaker 1 (17:32):
Okay, I mean we're recording. Yeah, sure, I like it
much better at seven and a half than six and
a half. But I think I'm still do Georgia there?

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Sure? Sure? All right, we're gonna take our quick guy
break here, Jared, we'll get to the other two games here.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Esquire says like they got outsized fame starring in a
comic book movie that was always going to do well
regardless of their talent. Then they thought they could do
a film festival, a ward circuit movie us the studio
a billion dollars. Oh, Penn State, you're talking about Penn State.
Penn State feels like a bless Hollywood star that got

(19:07):
super addicted to Heroin comparing last year to this year. Listen, Yeah,
it's like I don't know. Penn State's Penn State. I
don't know. That's a that's a deeper subject than I
think we're going to spend time on today. I think,

(19:29):
all right, Kyle, should we save Miami and Texas? Ay,
let's talk, let's talk.

Speaker 2 (19:38):
Let's let's talk about the the other one here, James
Madison and Oregon. Yeah, just absolutely dominance by Oregon, and
they let up the gas at at halftime there, like
they they scored on every single they scare scored on
every possession in the first half. I'm pretty sure that
was the case if I tried to quick go to Oregon,

(20:02):
go to drives there, yeah, uh touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown, touchdown.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (20:11):
And then they through the interception uh in their last
full series in the first half there, and then they
just yeah, you could tell they just they just let
it up up after their first possession the in the
second half there. So, I mean, it is what it is.

(20:31):
We knew how talented organ is. I was just a
little surprised how much jam U was able to put
up yardage. But in the second half, but again, it's
it's Organ's backups. But should they have led up that
meant much in the second half, but.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
How much of that was actually against the backups? And yeah,
in the end, it doesn't really matter. Like they very
clearly took their foot off the at.

Speaker 2 (21:00):
All and James James Madison kept their starters in because
you look at the stats and Barnett was was throwing
the ball still, he threw four just under three hundred
yards and there running back up Wayne Knight, which I
I think he's a he's a pretty darn good running back.

(21:20):
He rushed for over six and a half yards and
that and that wasn't just because he got a per
carry in six and a half per carry. Yeah, and
it wasn't like he it wasn't like he got them
all in the the second half like he in the
first half there, like he got he opened up with
a twenty four yarder, he got a couple other breaks

(21:41):
there and then in the middle the middle of the
the game there, so the the middle eight is like
what we like to call it seemed like Oregon was
able to hold him down and then Wayne got some
got some other yards towards the end there. So it
was kind of spread out there. I mean, I might

(22:03):
actually be Batman.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
When it I mean, when when it comes down, I
mean the jam you guys were going to stay in.
Like for a lot of these guys, this was their
opportunity to get some film against quote unquote real competition,
you know, whether it be you know, trying to get
film for the NFL or film for the transfer portal,

(22:28):
which is a thing now. They were always going to
play all the way through.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (22:35):
That just kind of is what it is. The you know, Yeah,
the game ends up looking a lot closer than it
could have been had Oregon tried harder later. But you
know whatever, Oregon has a has a tough road ahead
of them. I think probably the weakest. I think they

(23:01):
probably have the cleanest path. I'm actually curious, Kyle, what's
the numbers on Oregon versus Texas Tech, Because I do
think of the three by weeks, Texas Tech is probably
the weakest.

Speaker 2 (23:18):
But what do you think it is?

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Damn near even? I'musa say, I'm gonna say it's this.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
It opened up one and a half favorite for Texas Tech. Yeah,
damn near even, and now it is one and a
half for Oregon.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Yeah, damn near even.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
I mean, and there's and there's one here? Who who
is who is this one? Here? There's one better? I
can't I can't read the font there.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
It just as p K. Pick them, pick them, yeah, yeah,
so yeah, I so, I guess I nailed that one.
But yeah, the uh yeah, I don't know. It's Oregon.
Organ's got their sights on the future. I don't blame
them for taking their foot. You know, we need to

(24:10):
get past we need to get past this idea that
every single football game in college football needs to be
a blowout or you did bad. Yes did Every single
football game unless you're Notre Dame needs to be a show.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
But Jared, you gotta have at least some some pulse
on offense. Though, I have to have some pulse on offense.
And that's and that's not what this Miami Texas A
and M game was.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
This was just.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
This was like Alabama the first game in a hat
or in a game. It hat the first quarter and
a half, all game, both teams, it was just both teams.
It was just hot, are bitch. The only good thing here?
The only good thing was Mark Fletcher was running the

(25:07):
ball really well. He averaged over ten yards to carry.
That was it. Beck looked like shit. The special teams
for everybody was shit.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
Like you say this, it was just a crap.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
It was just a crappy, crappy game.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
I say, if you look at for any sort of
storyline in this, it's it's Malachi Tony fumbling the ball,
you know, Texas A and I'm not capitalizing on the turnover,
then Tony getting the punt return, and then getting the
game winning touchdown, the only touchdown in the game. Yep.

(25:46):
So as far as special teams, Tony had a very
key punt return. But from a field goal perspective, my god, yes, yeah,
my god, there's you have to listen. They need to start.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
You have a muffed handle and then you have to
block likeff.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
Right, So this is a game of essentially turnovers one
way or the other, and it's just Texas A and
m not delivering. I mean, at the end of the day,
it's not not delivering like when it mattered, because again
you look at the stat lines and it looks like

(26:37):
as long as you don't look at the turnovers, which
you know you gotta look at the turnovers. But like
Miami's three for twelve on third downs Texas A and
M eight for eighteen total yardage. You know to Texas

(26:57):
A and M. Passing yard goes to Texas A and M.
Rushing yards to Miami by a long shot. Actually key
here though red zones. Texas A and M gets in
the red zone three times, only scores once and it's

(27:17):
a field goal. Mm hmm. Key here two interceptions. Key
Here is Malachy True freshman seemingly blowing the day for Miami,
then turning around and saving the day for Miami. I

(27:38):
think he's probably is he is? There? Is there? There's
like a Freshman of the Year award, right, isn't there?
I don't know did he He should have won it
If he didn't, I'll say that much, because they somehow
didn't give it, if I if I remember correctly, there's

(27:59):
a bit of out rage and Buckeye Nation. Yeah, it
is named after Sewan Alexander. That's right, Esquire, because somehow
Smith didn't win it last year. And I remember this
is kind of maybe the first time I had heard
of the Shawn Alexander Award because of the outrage in
Columbus over over Smith not winning it last year. If

(28:29):
it's even been.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
Award Colin Colin Simmons won it last year. Who wanted
They haven't knownced they haven't.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
Has announced.

Speaker 2 (28:39):
But here here, here's the thing. Yeah, you mentioned Jared
or was it here? Uh? Texas A and M was
eight for eighteen on third downs. Two of those third
down conversions led to turnovers for Texas A and M
as well, So yeah, it was it was a key.
It was just it was just turnover the name of
the game.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
Whenever you see one team out gain the other team
and still lose redsons and turnovers, that's what it comes to.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
For three, one for three. Yeah, again, I'm not I'm
not worried about Miami.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
Here.

Speaker 2 (29:12):
Miami obviously going off to uh to Dallas, to Jerry's
World to take on uh, your ohouse State Buckeyes, And
from what I've seen here, I'm not. I'm not worried
about Beck. We talked about it before, which which Carson
Becker are we getting?

Speaker 1 (29:29):
Are we could get the good Carson Beck? And also,
for the record, which Carson Beck is showing up? Is
not a game by game analysis, it's a play by
play analysis, so you could get both it is. Yeah,
but yeah, uh, I think everything for the most part,

(29:49):
And I really did expect Texas A and M to win.
And I was didn't have a strong read on Bama
versus Alabama either way, so I wasn't gonna be surprised there.
But I'm also not I'm also not shocked at Texas
A and M one but bes. But I did expect to, say.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
Beck's the longest completion Jared was twenty yards. Only twenty yards.
He only he had the ball. He only threw the
ball more than five yards.

Speaker 1 (30:22):
By the way, I promised. I promised the t's.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
Four times, five times, five.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
Times, I promised the tees. Going into the ad break
about why I think all the playoff problems are going
to fix themselves in about five years. ACC granted rights
expires in five years, ACC won't live through that, ACC
will no longer exist. And and I think that there's

(30:50):
a or at least not in any way that is
recognizable now, you know, kind of like how the PAC
twelve technically still exists, but does it Yeah, even next
year does it? So the ACC will fall apart, and
you could very well see a playoff system that is

(31:14):
moving towards especially if the Big twelve, you know, what
what's left of the Big twelve gets picked apart by
the SEC in the Big ten and who's left over
from the ACC. You really could honestly just see a
six team tournament that is the Big Ten, the Big

(31:41):
Ten Playoffs and the SEC Playoffs, and then the winner
of that plays for the national title. I honestly think
you see that. You know, maybe you don't see that
exactly by twenty thirty, but.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
It's it's leading maybe.

Speaker 1 (32:04):
Twenty thirty two. Like so, like, just don't worry about it.
Like we're in a temporary, liminal holding space right now.
This twelve team playoff is a temporary thing until the
Big ten in the SEC decide to separate and be
their own thing, which is inevitable. It's just a matter

(32:26):
of time, all right. Um, that's where I think the
playoffs had it.

Speaker 2 (32:34):
And if if I believe I said, I said it already,
but I did the Veggas lines for every team.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
Well, let me they changed it in the last thirty minutes.

Speaker 2 (32:49):
Well I looked at that first, that that was what
it opened up as. Let's let's see if it changed here.
Uh No, it stayed the same state Stone nine and
a half.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
I'd take Ohio State up to fourteen easily total.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
I think this is the lowest total of the four game.
Of the four games here, the Ohio State Miami game
is the lowest over under. And it's set up forty
two and a half. So what's I mean scoring?

Speaker 1 (33:21):
Yeah, So what's the Vegas math there? Forty two points
minus nine. Let's make it ten for the sake of
easy math. Which why why am I trying to do?
Why am I trying to talk through math while recording?
That's never a good idea. Can someone who's not talking?

(33:43):
I can't talk and do math mental math at the
same time. I need someone else to do it, which
is why I'm currently vamping for Kyle while Kyle is
doing it, or maybe someone in the chat's doing it.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
It's like twenty five to.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
Is that?

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Twenty five to?

Speaker 1 (34:03):
Oh? Oh boy, Kyle?

Speaker 2 (34:05):
Seventeen?

Speaker 1 (34:05):
Is that right?

Speaker 2 (34:06):
Twenty five seventeen? Yeah, like twenty five to seventeen game
or twenty six seventeen, depends on.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
The half Yeah, yeah, yeah, the half point. Yeah, Miami
is not scoring seventeen on Ohio State. Let's just get
that out of the way. I'll say this, I love
the over under in that. I love the under. Yes,
it kind of just depends upon how how much Ohio

(34:36):
State can score, you know, And it feels after the
Indiana game maybe a little more tepid on Ohio States
offense than maybe I was before. And I think Miami
does have some really talented players on their defense. But
I'm just I'm just throwing this out there right now.

(34:58):
There's zero chance in hell that Miami score seventeen points
on Ohio State. So I really like the under on that.
If if Miami beats Ohio State, it'll be Miami's defense
that beats Ohio State, Like let me let me say it, like, yes,
and they did just hold Texas A and m to
three points. Now how much if that's on Texas A

(35:20):
and m I'll leave that up to you, the listener,
to decide for yourself. But you know it'll it'll be
my It'll have to be Miami that win, Miami's defense
that wins this game because they tap out it like
thirteen fourteen points offensively. All right?

Speaker 2 (35:45):
Cool?

Speaker 1 (35:45):
All right?

Speaker 2 (35:46):
I think that is all four games. Anything else to
share it before we uh, before we end the episode?

Speaker 1 (35:57):
No, I think we're good. Do you have anything in
Kyle's corner.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Oh geez, well, we're not talking about We're not going
to talk about basketball. I mean he could have, but.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
Oh gosh a what about recruiting?

Speaker 2 (36:12):
Uh yeah, yeah, there's been some some movement here, I
know recently. It was a few days ago high state deadline.
I gotta remember his name. I think it's Cipher linebacker.
Uh yeah, but Cipher Backwoods. You're currents, Yeah, yeah, he's

(36:34):
he is. Yeah, he's from Millbrook High School in Raleigh.
There number eleven linebacker in the country, four star linebacker.
Uh and also Jared here in a few days. We
expect legend bay Yeah to sign for Ohio State once

(36:57):
he officially turns eighteen.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Yeah, that's a whole story that we're not going to
get into right now. But he did, or at least
someone did sign for him to go to Tennessee. That
Tennessee has released that. I was gonna say, I see,
I was want to say an I L now, but

(37:22):
it's the nl I that was signed and sent to Tennessee. Now,
was he the one that did it? Maybe maybe not,
I don't know, but someone did it. But Tennessee has
released him from it and in a few days he's
not going to need anyone's permission to sign to Ohio State.
So weird circumstances. But I already talked more about it

(37:46):
than I wanted to, so and I don't know how
much of that first part's true. That's why I'm being
vague about it. But yeah, yeah, he's he's going to
get what he wants, and he's gonna be in a
adult a few days and he's gonna get what he wants.
And that's good for him and good for Ohio State,

(38:06):
all right, And of course, as Kyle pointed out, I
think Cipher is a huge pickup for High State. Yeah,
he's twenty twenty seven, of course, base all right? Correct?

Speaker 3 (38:23):
Mm?

Speaker 1 (38:24):
Is that it for Kyle's corner? That's it? That is it.

Speaker 2 (38:28):
We will catch everybody a week from now. Yeah, and
we will do he know your enemy episode of the
of the Sugar Bowl here, and let's of course sugar
the sugar. I'm sorry the cotton Ball, Sorry the cotton Ball.

Speaker 1 (38:43):

if you are on the regular podcast feed. However, if
you're a Patreon subscriber, will actually be recording that live
in the Discord server on Tuesday, and I'll be releasing
it to the Patreon server much earlier, So we're gonna
be recording that one ahead of time because of holiday

(39:05):
travels and whatnot. But uh so super early access for
our Patreon supporters on that one all right through in
an extra couple plugs at the end there just as
a bonus. But uh, tonight's ending music you brought to
you by a band at a Columbus. They are called

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
