Speaker 1 (00:37):
Anchors up sails, it flick home to suit Guss, it
didn't take up.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Okay, Jared, how are you doing today?

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Doing good? Doing good in tradition, good tradition.

Speaker 3 (00:46):
That's good.

Speaker 1 (00:48):
I can just tell about it is a good one.
And I tell im when I used my ears, that
may have been the best one. It it sounded good.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
I'm gonna get to hear it at all. I have
to listen to the actual podcast. I never get to
hear any event.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Well that's actually why not questions for a different time.
I don't know why you wouldn't be able to hear that.
But yeah, Kyle new Ohio State this week, so this weekend.

(01:28):
So this is our normal Wednesday episode. It's still gonna
go out on Wednesday, but there won't be a Thursday episode.
But we are gonna, like, you know, if you're like, hey,
I want to listen to this loop cast on side
or on Thursdays, well maybe just listen to half of
this one because we're gonna spend some extra time on
the tier list. We have three solid weeks of college
football behind us, and we need to clean up the

(01:51):
tier list. We need to spend a little extra time
on the tier list, and we're gonna get this thing
sorted out. How does that feel, Kyle?

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Yeah, sounds good.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Sloop Cast is officially an as mr Pod. Now, hey man,
I'm down.

Speaker 2 (02:11):
All right, let's let's let's get into it. Let's get into.

Speaker 1 (02:13):
The Kyle is that's funny, Kyle, don't. Don't you know
the role No, don't, Kyle, the role of your children
has to eventually replace you. That's that's that is their
biological ah uh, that's an inside joke from the discord.

(02:40):
But yeah, let's get started, all right, fingernails next week.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
A lot of discussion, a lot of discussion in our
discord Discord dot the swoop cast dot com always be
plugging about who actually is not favor to win it all.
After we've got we've got three games under our belts,
you could say, Jared, and I'm going to get a

(03:11):
lot of hate and a lot of dislike. We are
a quarter of the way through the regular season right now.
Three games, we've we've we've seen we've seen some teams
here and yeah, boo exactly, Yeah, how do how do

(03:31):
we grade the teams with with three games under the
belts here? And some of the teams have done what
we think they have in other teams, not so much here.
So with some of the teams we thought that were
the favor to win it all Texas, Oregon, Penn State.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Including Oregon in that sentence.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
I just I'm just including them, and some of them
just haven't done as well and so and some have
done a lot better than than we thought. I mean,
Florida State's the perfect example, like, yeah, out of nowhere
and up into the eightier.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
So I'm going to I said this last week. I
was I was turned down by Kyle. He did not
want to entertain this last week. I'm gonna try again. Sure,
I don't believe it. LSU, Penn State, or Texas have
a good enough offense to be considered S tier, all right,
they are among the teams at the top. And I'm

(04:30):
gonna include Georgia in on this. But george is already
an A tier so they can stay where they are.
Whose offenses just simply right now are not good enough.
Oka and Austin says that since we talked about this
in the discord server earlier, he has changed his mind
and he now agrees with me. Okay, so there you go.

(04:54):
I convinced Austin. Can I convince you.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
So you're you're just saying because they don't have a
good offense, they can't win it all.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
I believe Miami is well rounded. I'm saying they're not
favorites to win it all. It's a long season. Their
offenses might get better as the season goes. What I'm
saying right now is that Oregon is a complete team,
relatively Ohio State, it's a complete team. Miami is a
complete team, or at least they look like it. Keep

(05:29):
in mind they are year one gym knowles too. I mean, yeah,
they're they're deep. Listen. They'll play organ next week, will
find out what it looks like when they play against
the real offense. Penn State has really only played cupcakes
to this point and have quite frankly, you know, eventually

(05:49):
like their talent takes over, but they've struggled in the
first half of those games. Not that it was ever
really in doubt they're gonna win, but no, no, it's
just and again, it's a long season. They might get better,
and if they get better, we can reevaluate. But right
now I think LSU, Texas and Penn State don't have

(06:10):
good enough offenses to be listed among the favorites when
I think we have Oregon, Ohio State in Miami that
feel much more complete right now.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Okay, so Penna State, Penn State currently ranked nineteenth and
points per game offensively, who have they played? But granted, granted, yes, yeah,
I was getting there. I was getting there, Jared.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
I'd also love to see like a by half breakdown
because they kind of pour on some points against some
really undermatched teams in the second halves.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
Yeah that Yeah, not going to be able to get
that for you, though, Jared, Texas tied for ninety first.
Granted they played Ouse State where they only scored seven points.
And then LSU, Jared, where do you think they rank?
You go ahead and just tell them, out of one

(07:05):
hundred and thirty four teams, where do you think they're.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
Ranked offensively m M yep, seventy fifth.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Nope, worse, one hundred in eighth.

Speaker 1 (07:22):
Yeah, they've also played a much higher level of competition.
LSU has played two, you know, relatively tough games. You know,
if we're talking about teams playing Max schools and Sun
Belt schools. As you know, not the Florida is all

(07:43):
that good, but they're still an SEC school, Notre Dame,
excuse me, not Notre Dame. Who is their other big
one Clemson? Clemson, That's right, that was the other big
week one. Also not that good. But it's still like
still like a there's still a very talented team. It's

(08:05):
not Western Kentucky is my point. Both of those teams
have decent defenses. Yeah, so I mean they're one hundred
and whatever it is you said is probably roughly on
par with like Penn State's ranking quite frankly, you know,

(08:31):
adjusted for competition.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
So I can I can get I can get by
with for this week, I can get by with l
s U going down to a tier. I'll let you.
I'll let you, I'll let you have that. I'll let
you have that Penn State. So it's tough because when

(08:56):
you're trying to compare L s U and Penn State,
it really is it's Penn State, is not correct. Yeah,
it's that you can't really compare them. You really can't.
Yeap Brian Kelly for his James Franklin, which one would
you choose?

Speaker 1 (09:17):
James ver.

Speaker 2 (09:23):
I I have a hard time, Jared, I I be honest,
I'm having a hard time moving Penn State down to
a tier.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
I really do you feel about Texas?

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Yeah, I think right now, from what we've seen of
Texas right now, they didn't have any offense against Ohio State,
and honestly against stan Jose State, it was their defense.
It was their defense that kept them in there and
then there and then the and then against UTIP where

(09:55):
they again didn't have that great of an offense too.
They you're just over three hundred yards. I think it's
like three thirty three hundred thirty yards against UTEP.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yeah, this is this is my entire point, Kyle God,
this is my entire point.

Speaker 2 (10:10):
Yeah, you can move you can move Texas down to
a tier. Yes, until you until you prove me otherwise,
which not going to this weekend. I don't care what
you do to Sam Houston, Texas. Sure, that's not going
to help anything. It's not going to help anything.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
But I'm just saying I don't think teams week I
don't think Penn State's better than either of those teams.
I think they're roughly the same as those two teams.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
At least Penn State blew out all the teams that
they that they should have.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
Beaten, running up points in the second half.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
I mean, look at look at take take the take
the hat off, look at Ohio State.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
They were they did that once against Ohio when they
had a decisive win against number one Texas who maybe
shouldn't have been number one, but still a very good
football team. And then you know, they did exactly what
they should have done against Grambling.

Speaker 3 (11:04):
M hmm.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
That that's we're talking about one game for Ohio State
versus an entire trend for Penn State.

Speaker 2 (11:13):
So I mean, in week week one, Penn State scored
twenty seven points in the first half. I'm not I'm
not going to sit here and say that's not against
that's not good against Nevada and twenty scoring twenty seven
points in one half is good. Twenty seven points in
one half is good. Now, Yes, I will give you
I'll give you like Villanova where they I'm sorry, I'll

(11:35):
give you FIU where they only scored like ten points
in the first half. Yeah, that's that's their one game. Yes,
ten points in one half? Were they just they looked
sloppy and they didn't score enough points in the in
the first half. Sure, that's their that's their one game there.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
All right, Well, we'll move forward. I agree, but we'll
move forward. We spent a lot of time on that.
Now we moved to teams that are currently in a tier,
but do they belong an a tier? First, let's talk
about South Carolina. South Carolina is bad actually actually, like

(12:21):
I and I think I called this one early South
Carolina not actually good. In fact, I agree Austin, but
I never bought in. I thought the seller's hype was
was too much. So they just got run off the
field by Vanderbilt, and they kind of had a stinker

(12:43):
game against Virginia Tech in Week one, and we didn't
necessarily know what that meant as far as you know,
maybe Virginia Tech's actually kind of good, or maybe South
Carolina is bad. Virginia Tech is now zero in three,
including a a loss to I've just blanked on their name.

(13:08):
They just recently joined the FC or the FBS a
couple of years ago. That's where the Indiana coach came from. God,
I can't think of the name. James, No, not James Madison.
Was it James Madison? All right? Now? It's it's the

(13:29):
other one, Oh dou Old Dominion, That's who it was.
It was Old Dominion that which is not where the
Indiana coach came from. I got, I get those two
schools mixed up. We don't need to focus on it.
Point is Virginia Tech's actually really bad, which makes the

(13:49):
South Carolina close call look really bad in retrospect. And
of course Virginia Tech is oh and three. And then
like I said, god absolutely run off the field by Vanderbilt.
Granted without Sellers, but Sellers has a head injury. They
might be without Sellers for a while. Slash monarchs. It's

(14:11):
all gentry exactly, gentry mean middle class. You know, it
doesn't matter. That's not a that's not a thing to
focus on. So South Carolina, South Carolina, I'm I am.
I am fully out on on South Carolina. They should
at least go to be Maybe we should even have

(14:33):
a conversation about move them.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
To South Carolina to be See I'm good with South
Carolina going to be tier right now. We don't We
don't need to see how their quarterback, see how their
quarterback does. But yeah, be tier for right now.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Notre Dame. What to do with Notre Dame. Notre Dame
is now owing to Both of their losses are against
very good opponents. Both of those losses were very close games.
So I'm not saying Notre Dame is bad like I'll

(15:18):
I'll go I'll go ahead and say that like South
Carolina is bad. I don't think Notre Dame is bad.
But they have two very early losses. They have no
opportunity in an auto bid because they are independent, and
if you look at the rest of their schedule, there's
not really an opportunity to.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
They got currently, of the current ranked teams and the
A people, they only have one and that's middle of
October against usc.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
Usc who is ranked twenty fifth. That's that's their marquee,
that's their marquee wins, so that they could maybe get later.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
So a couple, so a couple of things with Notre Dame. One,
do you punish them severely for a three point loss
to Miami, who we haven't s tier and a one
point loss to uh Texas A and m which.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
We might use currently be tacker but we might move
them to a tear.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
I mean, how much how much should you really punish
them for a three point loss and a one point loss.

Speaker 1 (16:26):
It's a very interesting question. I'm not taking a hard
stance on this.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
But to your point too, where can they get the
points so to speak, getting them back up like you talk.
We heard this all the time in the twenty tens
about Ohio State needing to needing to win big. They
need to look great. They need style points. That's what

(16:54):
Notre Dame has to do moving forward. And they need chaos,
absolute chaos to get in.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
Now. The good news is, I believe had a lot
of early chaos in this season.

Speaker 2 (17:05):
So sure, sure so by definition of what we have
s tier favorites to win A the rest of the
top twelve B outside the playoff bubble, they have to
be put in B right now. They are on the outside,
only two losses, but they are on the outside and
it's going to be very very difficult for them to

(17:26):
get back into a tier.

Speaker 1 (17:28):
They need help.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
But but I think, yeah, they need helps. What the
playoff bubble is, so B tiers, that's a very good,
most appropriate spot to put Notre Dame right now.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Okay, So all right, here here's here's here's the here's
the issue. We need five conference We need five There
is going to be five conference champions with auto qualifiers
right now. It right now, it looks like the Big

(18:01):
twelve and the AAC. Right now, we have two representatives,
one from the Big twelve, one from the AAC. South
Florida gets two big upsets in Week one and Week
two and then gets absolutely run off the field and

(18:22):
humiliated against Miami. That being said that all they have
to do is win the American in there in So really,
the conversation here is USF for two lane unless you
have a different fifth team. But I don't see a
different fifth team to be talking about Toledo. We can

(18:47):
have a conversation about Toledo later. Yeah, they did lose
to Kentucky. I don't see it being a max school
anytime soon, Ridkers. So I please to you, Kyle, uh,
I'm gonna let you pick us F or two lane.

(19:10):
Who do you like more? I guess chat also can
throw some suggestions out there.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
I mean, right now.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
USF to tu lane someone else.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
To mean, I think you gotta go with the green Wave.
Got green Wave in the A tier right.

Speaker 1 (19:31):
Now, We'll see how that plays out. I have a
feeling that might not be the last time we have
a conversation where it's USF versus two lane. Just a
feeling that I have.

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Now what about the PAC twelve champ.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Yeah, I don't. They don't have a not.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Not when you not this year, Not when you lose
fifty nine to ten against North ten Exis, or that
you lose thirty six to twenty seven to Fresno State.

Speaker 1 (20:06):
Yeah, not this year.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
No, not this year.

Speaker 1 (20:10):
The second conversation that I think we need to have
would be, let's place those guys over there real quick.
We have Utah versus Iowa State versus Texas Tech. Now,
it is true that Utah and Texas Tech are playing

(20:33):
each other this week, but I feel like it's the
cowards way out to say, well let's just wait and
see who wins'. That's a cowardly choice. I won't accept it.
Who needs facts exactly? What?

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Why not? Why why have you not included Texas? And
M just kind of curious.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Because they're not in the big twelves. We're having a
big twelve conversation. We'll get to the other spots later.
We're having a big twelve conversation right now.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
Sure, Okay, I think I think.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
I am very curious and very interested in what Texas
Tech is doing right now. I know that they have
not played inequality opponents but they have absolutely slapped the
out of them.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Either goes Utah. But they play each other this weekend.

Speaker 1 (21:27):
Yep, but we're not We're not taking the coward's way
out on that. I think Iowa State's bad. I know
they have a win against Iowa. I don't know what
to do with that right now. I don't know if
I need to treat that like it's an impressive thing.
I think they've looked incredibly unimpressive in all three of
their wins. Do they have Michael Crabtree they do not.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
I guess if we're going to go with style points,
I guess put the Red Raiders for this week. If
we're going to go with If we're going to go
with style points.

Speaker 1 (22:05):
I mean vibes in style, it's it's still it's still
just week three vibes and style points. It's kind of
what we got in most cases. But as stated, Utah
and Texas Tech do play each other, so maybe we
swapped that next week.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Okay, all right?

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Currently, Kyle, we have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine,
ten teams currently in the top two tiers, which means
we need two more. But do you want to do
an ad break first?

Speaker 2 (22:39):
Sure, let's do Let's do a quick do a quick
ad break here. Uh, the slipcast dot com is your
go to link for anything and everything slipcast related. There
you can find our peatreon page. If you want to
help Jared and I financially, you can hit on over
to Patreon dot the slipcast dot com. There you get

(22:59):
over at the sloopcast dot com. You can also find
our discord page or YouTube, seventy seventy one store, merch store,
and much much more. Yeah. Again, that is the sloop
cast dot com. So go ahead and take an ad
break and be right back scene.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
There we go. Okay, Kyle, we have I I have
I have selected five teams who I think two spots
for two spots.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
Fun, Well, let's let's let's take Let's let's start with
the Let's start with the easy ones, shall we, Jared?

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Uh, can I make a case for all five?

Speaker 2 (23:44):
Can I make a case for one of them?

Speaker 1 (23:48):
Sure?

Speaker 2 (23:50):
You can just move Alabama to be tier.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
Alabama to B tier mm hmm.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
Alabama was beat decisively by Florida State, but they decisively
beat Wisconsin and they did what they should have done
against Louisiana, Monroe.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
And Wisconsin is terrible.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
That the bush there, Yeah, that's that's fair. Okay, here's
here's my case for Oklahoma. Decisive win over Michigan, yep.
And they beat two teams that they severely overmatched, but
they beat them appropriately. I would say they had appropriate
wins against appropriately bad teams. Illinois, their best win is

(24:34):
against Duke and but they beat two overmatch teams the
way you would expect them to. Indiana's best win is
over Old Dominion, and they beat two teams. It's kind
of the same, is the unfortunate thing. And then they
beat two very overmatched teams very you the way again,

(24:58):
the way you would expect them to. Texas A and M.
They pick up the win over Notre Dame, they beat
University of Texas, San Antonio and Utah State, I would
say decisively, but also letting them score, letting those two

(25:19):
overmatch teams score a lot of points. Sure, So I
think there's there's defensive concerns with Texas A and M.
Although they clearly have the best win of the bunch.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
They do, they absolutely do. So here's my here's my
thoughts of these five teams. I mean, I already mentioned
Alabama down to be tier now. It's to me, it's
no question here they don't really have a of these teams.
They don't have a six, they don't have a like
a really good win and have more losses than the others.

(25:56):
So both of those combined together, I think, is why
Ali Baba is in B tier out looking looking in sure?
Uh to me, so there's two now of the four.
As much as I would love to to uh put
in Illinois and Indiana, I think I gotta, I gotta,

(26:20):
I gotta, I gotta. Yeah, I gotta put in Oklahoma
and Texas A and M both of the last two
spots for both of them, just because of their resume.
And yet yes you can you can talk about how
Texas A and M defense hasn't looked all that all
that great. But to me, I think Oklahoma is the

(26:42):
easier choice of them. But yeah, I just until until
Illinois or Indiana can really like wow me, which they
they have? They haven't they do play each other, yes,
so yeah they can move up. Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
One of them is getting a signature win this weekend.

Speaker 2 (27:06):
Yeah, one of them is getting as significant yeah, yes,
so yeah, I think the winner may move up to
A tier. Then after this weekend, maybe we'll see. But
I think I think this is this is the list
here with a tier Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Texas, two

(27:28):
lane Texas Tech, Texas, A and M and Oklahoma.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
I still think we should have moved Penn State down,
but whatever, all right, Tennessee Tennessee currently in B tier.
They let Georgia come back and steal a win. And

(27:53):
while I was actually I'm actually really impressed with impressed
with Aguilar. In fact, I think he's an improvement over
niecks Go. I really like their offense. Their defense kind
of sucks. Yeah, losing there's no shame in losing a
close game to Georgia. Now letting them back in after

(28:18):
sort of clabbering them is not a great look. And
again their defense is it just looks terrible. Yeah, but here.

Speaker 2 (28:34):
Here's a thing. I mean, Tennessee only has one loss,
and looking looking back there at the end of the season,
going to look back, you're going to see, oh, they
lost by three to a potentially high ranking Sure Georgia team.
And if they and if they if they do well
the rest of the year, Mississippi State Arkansas could beat Alabama, Kentucky, Florida,

(29:03):
vander Belt and maybe a win over Oklahoma. I mean,
you're sitting there at one loss theoretically.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
But what I'm saying, I think their defense is going
to need to get a hell of a lot better
if they want to achieve that.

Speaker 2 (29:16):
Sure, but the long started me getting to what I'm
ultimately trying to say is yeah, I think they still
stay in BE tier, move a little bit lower and
BE tier. But we don't. We don't. We don't order
the BE tier. But in my mind, they move, they
slide down and be two. There's They're still on the table.
They're still at the table. They just are just sliding

(29:37):
down right now. But stay in BE tier.

Speaker 1 (29:42):
Okay, Kyle, I've labeled this next section the case for
M tier. All right, Clemson is one and two. Their
singular win was an ugly win against Clemson, excuse me,
against Troy. Clemson was in fact losing thirty sixteen to

(30:08):
three at halftime against a Troy team that is not
very good. Their latest loss of Georgia Tech feels more
like a trend than an upset, and it puts them
in an early hole for the ACC.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
So who were their losses to ge Injured.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
LSU and Georgia Tech.

Speaker 2 (30:43):
And did they lose by a lot to either of
those teams?

Speaker 1 (30:51):
No?

Speaker 2 (30:54):
And how many? How many losses do they have in
Conference one?

Speaker 1 (31:01):
And god have you seen them play football? But Troy
let them back in that game. Like if you watch
the Clemson Troy game, on paper, it doesn't look horrendous,
but on the field they look terrible. Again, Troy really

(31:21):
just let them back into that football game sixteen to three.
They were down to Troy at halftime, and again Troy
is not good at football.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
Very similar my mind with Clemson, very similar with Notre Dame.
Not many, not many opportunities for the rest of the
season to really help them out. They do have the
one game against Florida State, but the rest of the

(31:57):
rest of the games, no, it's not. It's not helping
them out like they they don't They don't have to
play in Miami. They don't have to play I guess
that's really it. They don't have to play in Miami.
I'm like looking at the a C the a C

(32:17):
C here standings here. Yeah, they don't have many key
matchups that will really boost boost them up here. So man,
I have a really hard time keeping them in B.
In all honesty, Okay, oh no they're not.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
They're not staying in B. The question right now is
C or M, because I think they've been a massive disappointment. Kay,
this is a team that was expected to win the
A c C. This is a team that was expected

(32:59):
to make even be a national title contender, and they've
lost to Georgia Tech and almost lost to Troy. They're
one and two and one in conference.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
I mean, honestly, I had higher expectations from Clemson as well.
They had they brought in people from the transfer portal
finally for once, for once, and I thought this was
going to be their year, if they were going to
make any kind of splash. And no, it wasn't even

(33:37):
a splash.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
They splash in the toilet bowl.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Yeah, it's it's it's tough. Look look at looking looking
at looking at how Clemson. Clemson has done the first
three games here. Uh yeah. The defensive I think defensively
they're they're still solid, but offensively they they're they're in shambos.
They're chambos. They need they need something, they need something

(34:05):
of happening. So they need something to happen. So, yeah,
I guess the case for the M tier first first
victim goes to cums in.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Yeah, I would say, so, yeah, I think I think
that's our I think that's our tier list. Maybe we
have a conversation about Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt US Just Lightning round, Kyle,
do any of these teams belong in B tier? Georgia

(34:41):
Tech big win ever comes in? Not yet, not yet?
Put them over there. Vanderbilt not yet a couple of
big wins. Mm hmm. Okay, USC they're undefeated, but so
are so are the other two teams.

Speaker 2 (35:00):
Mm hmmm. Auburn I mean us C U s C
gets to they get their shot in October. October is
a we'll find out soon about us C.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Auburn.

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Hmmm.

Speaker 1 (35:20):
I can't leave them up yet, Missouri.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
Uh no, okay, who.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
Have very play Lightning round, Kyle, Lightning round? You said, no, no, okay?
All right, let's uh let's move on to the sloop Pecks.

Speaker 2 (35:41):
All right, before we Before we do that, we'll take
our second ad break real quick here, all right.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
And we promised, we promised we're going ad free for
the rest of the way. How about that?

Speaker 2 (35:51):
Yes, Yep, the sloop cast dot com is your go
to length again, everything and anything sloop cast read Laded
mentioned a few already in our first our first ad
the seventy seventy one store. I'm actually wearing one here.
It just says Ohio with seventy seventy one at the

(36:14):
bottom there. Very very clean and yeah, a great everyday
shirt to wear to wear around at a lot of
other cool designs that Jared has made. Yeah, so definitely
check that out. All any purchases help Jared and I
out to keep keep the sloop cast up and running

(36:37):
pay for any kind of subscriptions that we have too.
So yeah, if you're looking to help Jared and I out,
you can head over to seventy seventy one dot the
sloopcast dot com, pick up a T shirt and yeah,
enjoy some nice comfortable shirts. So you can find that
link in much much more over at theeswoopcast dot com.
We'll take that ad break and be real back to

(36:59):
some sloop.

Speaker 1 (37:04):
All right, kh sloop pick scoreboard. Kyle takes the lead
for the for the year on me after he beats
me by one game last week. And not only that, Kyle,
but you won the webpicks with your with your four,
the the entire the entire Discord server struggled. Uh, you don't.

(37:25):
You'll obviously a four get the win on the webpicks,
and that's that's not wasn't a shared win on your
part either. You were alone in that. A couple of
people had me tied at three.

Speaker 2 (37:35):
Does are how crazy of a weekend last weekend was?

Speaker 1 (37:40):
And then we have this week's picks.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
Okay, first one, Texas Tech heading on over to Utah.
Talked about this already earlier in this episode here, so
we get right into it. You Tah New kickoff, which
is a ten am kickoff at Utah time time zone,

(38:09):
is a three and a half point favorite over the
The Red Raiders.

Speaker 1 (38:17):
Getting fierce with that one. Kyle Am I going first.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Doing doing doing my h Madden Raiders. It was terrible.
I won't do it again. Yeah, you started, you started
a soft Jared.

Speaker 1 (38:36):
Uh. I don't know why Texas Tech is even dogged
in this game. I think they beat Utah handedly. I
think I think a lot of people are sleeping on
Texas Tech right now. It's time to wake up. Give
me the Red Raiders.

Speaker 2 (38:51):
I agree, I agree, three and a half underdog. I
think Texas Texas Tech will win this, so yeah, I will.
I agree with Jared here, all right.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
One for Kyle, and we got Duncan, who's down in
the chat. He's doing our guest picks. I'll be the
contra band and Rake Utah. I don't know what that means.
That feels like it means something, but I don't know

(39:24):
what it is. He's got the utes, okay, is as
long as he's got the utes, okay, all right?

Speaker 2 (39:35):
All right? Next the home team?

Speaker 1 (39:39):
All right?

Speaker 2 (39:40):
Next up here is Auburn heading on over to Oaklahoma.
Three thirty kickoff in Oklahoma is a six and a
half point favorite. Man's that's nice, Glad it's not seven
and a half, six and a half. I feel a

(40:02):
little bit better. I got the Sooners, I got the
Sooners to cover in this one here.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
All right, Uh, I'm gonna go. I'm Oklahoma did beat Michigan.
I don't really know what that means yet. I don't.
I don't necessarily feel like I know who either of
these teams are. So I'm gonna take I'm just gonna
take the points. I'm gonna take the dog.

Speaker 2 (40:30):
Jared win in doubt, take the quarterback, don't.

Speaker 1 (40:36):
I don't particularly love either of these quarterbacks. So, uh,
we have Auburn will do what they do every year.
They don't buy someone a house. Give me the Sooners
go called Duncan.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
All right, Dulane heading over to take on all Yes, yep,
we had we had two lane. We had two lane
in our aids here.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
We did we moved him up.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Uh it is it is your pick. It is your
turn to pick here. So uh ole Miss is an
eleven and a half point favorite in this game.

Speaker 1 (41:22):
I'm not saying two lane will win, but I think
TWU Lane has a very decent chance at winning. So
if you're gonna give me eleven and a half points
to take him, I'm gonna take him.

Speaker 2 (41:38):
Yeah. I kind of I kind of struggled a little
bit a little bit here, but man, I think ole
Miss found their quarterback. He looked he looked really good
again again against Arkansas. But he looked he looked pretty good,
pretty accurate. And uh, Chambliss is the name. Uh overall overall,

(42:03):
just I think it just has better numbers than than
retslath here and against a little bit tougher competition too
than then USA and Northwestern in Duke that Tulane has
played so far. But I I think I think this
might be the end of the road for two lane here.

(42:25):
I think I think as as well as they've done
so far, they get the I guess I got the
win over Duke squeak out against US. Wow, I'm drawing
Mike on the name there, I get Southern Alabama I got.
I'll pick all Miss. I'll pick all Miss two win
and cover the eleven and a half points.

Speaker 1 (42:48):
Duncan says, I took all missing my sloop picks, but
I'm doubting that I'll be switching later probably, but put
me down for a two lane loss. Book cover Duncan
in between picks on that one. Just go to your
first instinct, man, go to your first instinct.

Speaker 2 (43:07):
All right? Uh, Nebraska hosting those cheaters up north team
and those skunk Bears are a two and a half
point favorite in this matchup, and Jared mm hmm, yeah,

(43:30):
I gotta go. I gotta go with the corn here
at home, here your home.

Speaker 1 (43:35):
YEP.

Speaker 2 (43:36):
Shocked, totally shocked that they they got, They've got the
offense to really put to put Michigan on their heels.
They I think Michigan is gonna be in for roote surprise.
They're they're gonna They're gonna struggle to try to figure
out how to slow Nebraska down. This could be like

(43:59):
a really high squoring game. I can I can see,
so I will I will pick Nebraska to cover in
this game.

Speaker 1 (44:10):
I'm gonna take Nebraska to I think the key here
is their defense. I think Nebraska is gonna score their points.
How well they can slow down the running attack of
Michigan will determine this game.

Speaker 2 (44:23):
That's all they have to do is just stop the run.

Speaker 1 (44:26):
Easier said than done. Yes it is. Yeah, I have
three points in two weeks.

Speaker 2 (44:34):
Two weeks.

Speaker 1 (44:34):
My instincts are awful. M for two points. I picked
the cheaters.

Speaker 2 (44:45):
This chat, Jared, who's the sky in our chat?

Speaker 1 (44:50):
Hey? He just he just because it's there. He's not
saying they're gonna win. He's just saying that that they're
the dog, and he's taking the dog. Sometimes you gotta
take the dog. Next game, Kyle, all right.

Speaker 2 (45:02):
South Carolina and Missouri is the next one here, seven
o'clock kickoff night game in Missouri and Missouri in this
matchup is a thirteen and a half Yeah, you heard me,
thirteen and a half point favorite.

Speaker 1 (45:25):
Well, I believe that the current the current thought process
is that Sellers is not going to play, which I
think is why that number is as big as it is.

Speaker 2 (45:35):
Yep, So who do you got, Jared?

Speaker 1 (45:38):
I said it during the tierless portion of the show
that I think that South Carolina is bad at football,
but I'm also not convinced that Missouri's good. Thirteen and
a half points just kind of feels like a lot
to give me the game Cocks.

Speaker 2 (45:56):
Yeah, my thoughts exactly, that's a lot of points. I
think Missouri will win this one. But yeah, I'll pick
I'll pick South Carolina cover.

Speaker 1 (46:08):
Yeah, and Duncan agrees, no clue. I haven't watched either enough,
so I'll pick the underdog. I think we're all just
I think we're all just going dog there, dog for
the sake of dog.

Speaker 2 (46:25):
All right. Next up, Florida hitting on the heading down
the state to take on Miami. Seven thirty kickoff, and
the Hurricanes are a seven and a half point favorite.

Speaker 1 (46:41):
Now, Jared, that is not enough points. It's not enough points.
I agree, not that it is not enough.

Speaker 2 (46:52):
Not enough points Florida has no offense to to to
keep up with Miami.

Speaker 1 (46:58):
This number is so low that it feels like a trap,
Like I'll I almost feel like that this a trap.
We're being lured into something here. But Florida doesn't score
points and Miami does nothing but score points. And it's
not like Miami has been playing total cupcakes. South Florida

(47:20):
is a very good team. They scored points against Notre Dame. Uh,
Miami's played teams. I mean, I am the first one
whenever we're talking about Miami to be like, ah, but
it's Miami. Miami always has this hype and then Miami crashes.

(47:42):
Who cares blah blah blah blah blah. But they've beat
teams this year. They're kind of removing the you know,
sometimes you give the team the benefit of the doubt
and sometimes you give them the doubt of the doubt.
And I but they've removed the doubts for me. I'm

(48:05):
not saying that they're gonna win the National Title Game
or anything like that, but I think they're very much
a real football team right now. Duncan says in State,
stuff doesn't follow logic. I pick Miami, all right, and
last stop here by the way, I just want to state,

(48:27):
because I just now noticed that the graphics wrong I
have they have the minus on Florida. Just pointing out
that the graphics wrong. It should be a plus. Okay,
it makes me feel better to point it out.

Speaker 2 (48:43):
Seven point thirty kickoff Illinois heading on over to Bloomington,
Indiana to take on the Hoosiers. The Hoosiers are a
The Hoosiers are a four and a half point favorite

(49:04):
in this mastership.

Speaker 1 (49:05):
This also feels like a trap. Now. I've been the first.
I've been the first one to say, and I've said
it loudly. Can I use strike through fonts? Yeah? I
think you have to use the till day twice. Uh.

(49:25):
The Illinois, I've been the first to say that, like,
Illinois is overhyped. I mean, they're They're ranked what Kyle
number nine right now and we don't even have them
in the A tier. I think you and I both
agree that Illinois ever hyped. I think they've gotten as

(49:51):
highly ranked as they are based off of the fact
that their schedule is very easy and that people then
wild themselves up from going oh oh, Illinois is kind
of a sleeper in the Big Ten this year because
they have a bad schedule, and then people forgot the
but they because they have a bad schedule part and
then they just kind of convinced themselves that Illinois was good.

Speaker 2 (50:13):
But they but to be fair, like, yes, I'm talking
both teams. Illinois has took care of business in every
game that they've played. Yes, Indiana had had a dogfight
with Oh Dominion.

Speaker 1 (50:28):
Yeah who, by the way, is not a bad football team.

Speaker 2 (50:31):
No, it's not a bad fall team. But they took
care of teams they should have taken care of ye
two fifty six to nine, seventy three to nothing.

Speaker 1 (50:41):
And I'll say that Duke game for Illinois, I don't
really know who Duke is. And I also say that
game felt a lot closer than the final score indicated.
I watched that game.

Speaker 2 (50:51):
Yeah, I mean Illinois did did score a lot at
the at the day there.

Speaker 1 (50:57):
Yeah, yeah, who.

Speaker 2 (51:01):
Do you got, Jared?

Speaker 1 (51:03):
It just feels weird to me. I listen, like I said,
I've been, I have been the number one pumper of
the Lion. I breaks just being like, heyone needs a
chill down a bit on on Illinois. But I have
but I have to ignow I have to acknowledge that
I was surprised to see that Indiana was favored. Uh
so give me the a liion.

Speaker 3 (51:22):
I.

Speaker 2 (51:25):
Yeah, I'll pick I'll pick the underdog as well. I'll
pick Illinois in this one. Just yeah, just because they're
a four and a half point underdog. That's really that's
that's the reason for me.

Speaker 1 (51:39):
Yeah, I mean, in all honesty, I wouldn't know who
to pick on this if it was a straight pick them.
That that's just how I feel. I'd like if this
was just a straight pick them, I wouldn't know who
to pick. So if you're gonna give me four and
a half point, I'm gonna take four and a half points.

Speaker 2 (51:56):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (51:56):
Duncan says, I'm excited about this game. Might even make
the ex girl friend, I mean the wife watch this
and I think Indiana wins. I do you think that
they win by four and a half points? Are more?

Speaker 2 (52:16):
Because that is that is the question, Just because they
are a four and a half point favorite.

Speaker 1 (52:20):
Duncan it was. Duncan also surprised to find out that
Indiana is the favorite. Maybe, I mean I already messed
up one thing on the graphic. Maybe assume as I
messed it up twice. I think either team runs away
with it. He's he's calling for a momentum game.

Speaker 2 (52:39):
All right, Okay, all right, so he's got he's got
the whosers.

Speaker 1 (52:44):
Jared, Oh, none of us ever know. We We just
pretend to because it makes for good podcasting. All right, Kyle,
that is our sloop. Pick one more quick segment on
the show. We told you this would be an extended edition.

(53:09):
Oh yeah, kiss theory. We pick an unranked team to
defeat a ranked team. Kyle picked up his second chaos
theory win already, Kyle in a row. We didn't do
nearly this good last year. No, we didn't, but there

(53:33):
have been a lot more upsets this year. The upsets
are like the September upsets were stingy last year. So
it's a combination of us getting better at this, but
also just the season has been very chaotic through three weeks.
Duncan we want you to participate in this as well.

(53:57):
I have my team. I don't know if everyone else
has their team off the top of their heads, but
I'm willing to go right away. I am going with
two lane two beats Ole miss.

Speaker 2 (54:19):
I.

Speaker 1 (54:19):
There's not a lot of options this week quite frankly, Kyle,
how many points is that worth?

Speaker 2 (54:30):
Let me let me pull it up. Let's see two
lane unranked and come on, where are you at? And thirteen?
So that's thirteen right? Yeah, that's so for my team, Jared. Yeah,

(54:51):
I mean I want to pick. I want to pick
the twelfth ranked team because I did that two weeks
in a row. But I can yeah, because Iowa State
is on a bye week, so I can't pick. I
can't talk, right, So I got to pick the next
closest one. Okay, I agree, there's not much choices. Is

(55:13):
Kent State going to beat Florida State? No? Oregon State
beat Oregon No.

Speaker 1 (55:19):
I want to be mad at you for also picking Tulane,
but there's legitimately just not options out there.

Speaker 2 (55:26):
I'm just gonna pick. I'm just going to pick up
some other Georgia State beats Vanderbilt. No, Sam Houston beating
Texas No. South South South, Eastern Louisiana beat l s U.

Speaker 3 (55:40):
No.

Speaker 2 (55:41):
You can get one point for Sparty beating the Trojans
if you want one point, maybe the only other one
if you're really playing gutsy Jared. The Gators upsetting Miami.

Speaker 1 (55:56):
I thought about it. I did. Uh, Duncan says, I
want to say Michigan State, but they suck Dandy could fall.
But I don't see them choking on a cupcake, all right.
I mean he's building up to it, he's thinking about it,
he's figuring it out. He's he's gonna, he's gonna. He's

(56:19):
gonna give us that answer here anytime soon. I guess
South Carolina. South Carolina newly not ranked defeating number twenty
three Missouri. I think that's valid.

Speaker 2 (56:32):
I don't don't three points. That would be three points.

Speaker 1 (56:36):
Listen. Some might say that that's that's not a lot
of points, but you know what.

Speaker 2 (56:43):
If you already have zero points. Yeah, they get on
the board, you can get on the board.

Speaker 1 (56:48):
No, no one in chat has hit yet. So that's
that's that is that South Carolina is too big of
a of a word. Kyle, you said three points, right,
Just do just do s car It's it's fine. I'll

(57:09):
the actual font for when I do this permanently is smaller.
It'll be fine when I put it in the spreadsheet.
Is that not I did? Okay? That that just pisses
me off. We'll definitely do South car Now, all right, Kyle,

(57:30):
that's it. That's the end of the show. Do you
have anything in Kyle's corner? Ah know, it's an acceptable
answer because that's your panic sound.

Speaker 2 (57:41):
That is my panic sound. Because I really don't. I
really don't. There's I was thinking of things that the
coaching the coaches were talking about during their during their
press conference this morning. As we're recording this one on
a Tuesday. Nothing, nothing really came to my mind about like,

(58:05):
oh wow, that's that's something interesting to hear about. But no, nothing,
nothing really, So we'll we'll just we'll just leave it
there as they have a they have a week off
to ponder what didn't go well against Ohio, especially in
the red zone, and what they needed to do to

(58:27):
improve that as they had head on over to their
first road game the following weekend of the year.

Speaker 1 (58:35):
All Right, tonight's ending music will be brought to you
by We did Mister Nome on Monday and sometimes do
the same band twice when we do the Wednesday Thursday show,
but we're not doing We're only doing Wednesday this week,
so I think I will go ahead and just play
mister Nome again. So with all that being said, I'd

(58:58):
like to encourage everyone to drink local beer, listen to
local music, and of course sports local podcasts. Once again,
this is mister.
