Speaker 1 (00:37):
Anchors upsells it foot let's look cast, how are you
doing today?

Speaker 2 (00:43):
You're all right, Jared? What are you doing today?

Speaker 3 (00:46):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (00:47):

Speaker 1 (00:48):
Your tradition, good tradition.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
There we go. You know this. If there's ever any
uh overlain and somehow listening to us here, Jared, this
episode would be really confusing talking about Ohio State Ohio.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Did they still do that jet nut?

Speaker 2 (01:10):
They? Yeah, I think that. I think they still do
that was a They're gonna be really confused because they're
not sure which one we're talking about or what the
case is here.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
So I think Chris Sims was having trouble with it too.

Speaker 2 (01:26):
Quite frankly, by the way, Sims was having a really
bad bad night.

Speaker 1 (01:31):
Okay, time out before we get into the report card.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
F for peacock, F for peacock. Yeah, scarlet, and this
is our Scarlet and Grade episode where we do grade offense, defense, coaching,
and other other aspects of the game. But yeah, let's
let's add in, Jared, the broadcasters absolute F for for peacock,

(01:56):
F for the broadcasters, F for the platform.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Oh my god, how how do they are? Are they
making money? Like, because it doesn't feel like they're putting
anything into the platform. We had like an in app
commercial pop in during the game.

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Not yeah, in the middle of a thankfully it was
like the middle of a replay, in between plays, but
still like it was the drive was going on and
they just had an and add, yeah and ad inside
the app itself there like it was.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Sims at one point called Ryan Day, Jason Day.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Chris Sims at one point said earlier in this podcast
instead of earlier in this game.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
And yeah, and then and then and then with it and.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Then the resolution the resolution would just randomly drop on
the broadcast and I got internet. There's no way to
turn it back up. You have to leave the game
and come back into the game to fix it.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Hope to fix it.

Speaker 1 (03:14):
Hope to fix it.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
My mint. With like six minutes left in the game,
he pretty much said, oh, hey, why don't you just
go to just change the channel to NBC and watch
that one watch that game.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
It's f for Sims and for the the Peacock platform.

Speaker 2 (03:39):
Do better in BC. All right, Jared, Let's get into
the Let's get into the game. Ohio State and Ohio Uh.
Overall thoughts here as we're as we'll get into the
grading here. Overall, offense was fine. I thought, I thought
the offense. I thought, the offense is fine. They just

(04:01):
needed to finish the drives. They just needed to finish
the drives. They had too many times. I mean the
first drive they they got stopped, they didn't get any
points inside the five five yard line, and they had
to kick two other field goals inside the ten yard
line as well too, Like that's that's not going to

(04:23):
cut it. And we saw pretty much a different team
in the second half where they just took control. Maybe
maybe as they Ohio got worn down, whatever the case
may be, but we saw a high state finishing the
drives in the second half there. But I mean almost
six hundred yards an offense. The offense was getting it done.
Defense absolutely got it done. Yeah, they just needed they

(04:47):
just needed to finish the drives. That's that's what it
really came down to, all right.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
So game plan, game plan.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Honestly, game plan. I was fine with that. They did
pretty much what they wanted to in the air. On
the ground, I had no issues with the game plan.
I'm gonna I'll give the game plan an a. They got,
they got, they got touches to a ton of people.
Look at the look at the rushing attack. Bo had

(05:17):
nine attempt nine rushing attempts. People had seven, Donaldson had nine.
They distributed the ball almost equally to everybody. So I
really liked the game plan. It just wasn't executed well
when it came down to the red zone.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Yeah, I'm gonna put a minus on it. I'm just
sure feeling a little salty.

Speaker 2 (05:43):
I suppose sure, And then and it's okay. It's okay
to feel salty, especially after what we saw last week
and what a just a very disciplined, kind very there.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
I think playing a team like Grambling can screw with
your especially your offense, when sometimes things are just a
little too easy, especially if you have like a quarterback
making a second over start and you can just throw
the ball wherever the hell he wants because everybody's open.

(06:20):
I think playing a team like Grambling can can actually
really hurt you because it just maybe there's confidence and
then there's I can do no wrong, and not even
like in a cocky way. It's just a oh, I'm
just gonna go to my first read because of course

(06:40):
they're open, or maybe I have to go to my
second raaid it's Grambling. Maybe maybe it's the exact right defense,
but I think there's something about playing Ohio or playing
Grambling versus playing a team like Ohio who is five
times better than Grambling, and it's and it's sucked.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
I mean you have to you have to you have
to say, like it secked for Ohio when Navarro went out,
because you saw like the off offense just went to
absolute ship when he went out. And then the first
drive he comes back in the second half and they
score a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
Yeah, no, totally.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
In game in game coaching, man, How how how should
I take this? In game coaching? In the first few drives,
you saw, you saw a day. You saw the rest
of the coaching staff really trying to really trying to

(07:42):
get the team and put and get them to to
to come to the just stand up, to make a stance,
to convert the fourth downs, convert uh, convert the red zones,
and they just they just didn't, I think. And then
they figure out how to change it in the second half.

(08:04):
And I guess what I'm trying to say here is
I think an in game coaching was alright, it's it
was already in the first half of the second half,
they definitely turned around. So I'll say in game coaching,
maybe a B. I would say, I'll kind of average
the two from a seed seeing the first half A

(08:24):
to the second half. I'll say a B.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
I that sounds that sounds fair. I'm gonna I'm actually
gonna go with the B. Plus. I think as far
as our category of in game coaching goes, I think
making adjustments is probably a pretty big, big, big part
of it. And also I think like going with your
hot hand. As far as bo Jackson and we'll talk
about him when we talked about running later.

Speaker 2 (08:46):
Yeah, I mean, and honestly, like looking at the halves,
the haves themselves other than Ohio State almost doubling their points,
it was about the same two hundred and seventy eight
yards total offense the first half, two ninety four in
the second half. Now, granted like they went off in
the third quarter, that that really that really helped them out.

(09:08):
But that's that's our everything. Stats don't tell the whole story.

Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yeah, we we do need to move a little quicker cut.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
Sure, quarterbacks two interceptions.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
One hand, it was on one hand, it was grambling.
On the other hand, it is his third ever start.
Excuse me, it is Ohio. Yeah, but it's also his
third ever start. He looked like a redshirt freshman this game.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
He did. He did two interceptions and and it should
be noted.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
That Ohio has a really good pair of safeties.

Speaker 2 (09:40):
They're linebacker and there when we mentioned too third linebackers
are not They're not great. I mean they're not, like
really really good, but I mean they very seasoned seniors
and graduates, I believe on the linebackers. So they they've
they've seen a good share of games too, so they
I mean hats off to them to make the plays

(10:03):
that they needed to. Yeah, Julian sand two interceptions, three touchdowns,
three forty seven while throwing the boss seventy eight percent completion. Yeah,
I'll give them a bee. I mean two interceptions. That's
that's not good.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
One of the interceptions was batted at the line. The
other one was also kind of.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
You know, he never never should have He shouldn't have
thrown that. He should have he should have tucked that
in and taken the sack. He'll learn from that. He'll
learn from that. So so b I'll say it be.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
I'll go be minus run blocking.

Speaker 2 (10:47):
Run blocking out of state averaged seven point three on
the ground here and the first at the first those
first couple of drives, they they didn't really do all
that great, especially in that red zone when they really
should have asserted their dominance there. Something. I'm gonna grate

(11:08):
it a little bit. Lord, I'm gonna say C plus. Wow,
we're to say C plus. Yeah, I mean those those
the red zones where you don't didn't convert them, you
had to kick field goals or you didn't even convert
the fourth down on that first drive there. Yeah, I'm
gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna take a lot of points
off of that for you coming from expectations with this

(11:29):
offensive line.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah, I would say I think the running backs and
the play calling deserve more there. In my opinion, I
think who you have in it running back has has
changed and will continue to change, and that might help.

(11:52):
I'm gonna go B plus. I'm gonna put I'm gonna
go legitimately higher on that one.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Okay, all right, fine, uh, pass blocking, let me find
us out. One sack given up here, which was the
first sack all year.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Yeah, and kind of a weird play in general.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
It was Yeah, Yeah, I thought.

Speaker 1 (12:19):
I thought most of the game he basically had all
day to throw the ball. Like the touchdown declare he
like the offensive line that that's the offensive lines touchdown
because Saying had all day to throw that ball. I
felt like he wasn't under pressure most of the game.

(12:39):
But you are right, they do give up a sack,
So I'll just go with an a.

Speaker 2 (12:45):
Yep, same here, all right. The running running I I
know anybody who's listening to us here probably heard it
from gonna hear from other people. I think, I have
to say, might have themselves a star running back here
in the true freshman number twenty five, and he wears

(13:06):
number twenty five.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Yeah, and I don't think he's gonna be red shirting.
Yeah yeah, yeah, but listen, I like the other two
running backs. I think Donaldson has a role in this offense.
I like people's just fine. Yeah, but we said it
before the before the season even started, that we were

(13:31):
kind of just okay at running back, especially coming off
of what we had last year. You know, with the
wide receivers, it feels like we can just kind of
reload with Saying, And granted he's inexperienced and we're going
to have to work through that inexperience. But I still
have a ton of faith long term in Julian saying, so,

(13:56):
I like quarterback, we're reloading wide receiver, we're reloading offensive line.
We might be reloading better than we started with. Running
back didn't feel like a reload. H And again, that
bar is very high with the two running backs last year,
because I don't think either of those two running backs

(14:16):
are special. I think, and I don't know if bo
Jackson is special yet, but he will be there there.
He has he has something, he has something, and that
something's it. Yeah, I'll go with an a as well, okay,
and that that's being carried by Bo a lot.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
Yeah, all right. Receivers that since week week one, we
haven't really seen any like drops or anything. Receiver receivers
are doing really well. Tight Ends are doing really well.
I mean, how many how many catches do they have?

(14:58):
Two for five tight ends had five receptions for this game.
I think that's probably about the average so far here.
Tight Ends really really getting in and obviously Jeremiah just
doing just being Jeremiah and being Jeremiah one hundred and
fifty three yards catching and Tate had himself one hundred

(15:20):
yard game as well too. Receivers exceptional A A for
the receivers as well.

Speaker 1 (15:27):
I mean, I I'll go a plus. I think there
were several instances in which they were open, but saying
didn't find them all and again, this isn't receivers, this
is receiving. And I thought the tight ends had a
great game.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Yeah. Absolutely, How many yards with that? Thirty forty three? Yeah,
fifty yards? About fifty yards for the.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Tight ends here, esquire, feel free to jump in with
grades as you have them.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
Yeah, drives, drives and conversions here, uh, five for nine
on third downs, for one on fourth downs. Talked about
briefly there with the not converting the fourth down inside
the five yard line. But where are we at? Eleven drives?

(16:19):
So eleven drives, seven of those are scoring drives, sixty
four and yeah, you're you're at a touchdown rate of
thirty six percent against Ohio. Yeah, I'm gonna say I'm
gonna say only because it got better in the second half.

(16:39):
I'm going to say a D. I will say a D.

Speaker 1 (16:44):
I'm giving them an F. You can't you you you
you you you can't keep Ohio in the game by
kicking field goals. That's an f.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
Okay an explosiveness, I say it had quite a few
explosive plays. Joe had uh or Joe bo Jackson had
a sixty four yard Jeremiah had a forty seven yard
Tate had a forty nine hit yard. Uh. Quite quite
a bit of explosive plays and in this game here.

(17:23):
So I'll say, I say, I say an as, I
say an as for explosiveness.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Yeah, I think I'll think I'll go with the standard
day Personally, you didn't really come out until later, but
it did come out, and you know, for again, yes,
Ohio is a MAC team, but they are a very
good MAC team. You were never going to just throw
the ball across the yard against them the way you

(17:56):
were against Grambling. This game would have looked the way
we thought it should have looked had they not struggled
in the red zone. But they did. But I'll go
I'll go with an A.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Okay, all right, awesome, So that is the offense here.
So we'll we'll take that first ad break real quick
and we will talk about the about the defense next.
So the sloopcast dot com is your go to link
for anything and everything sloopcast related. There you can find

(18:31):
our patron page, our discord YouTube page, merchandise, merch dot
the sloopcast dot com, Spotify, and much much more again
over at the sloop cast dot com. We'll take a
quick ad break and be right back to talk about
the defense.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Esquire in the chat says, seemed like we were practicing
in the first half, and then the second half we
when he turned on the explosive machine, it was there.
Will I think you saw a lot of I think

(19:16):
you saw a lot in this game of Ohio State
holding stuff back, doing a like an anti analytics game
as far as like throwing some stupid They had an
even number like exactly. I think it was like seventeen
and seventeen first down place running and passing like it
felt like a game where they were kind of screwing

(19:37):
with the analytics a bit, which is a thing you
do as a head coach when you're playing an inferior opponent.
Tossed in the Keenholes package for a little mind fucker. Yeah,
they were. They felt like a game where they were
throwing stuff on tape and screwing with the analytics, and
then things got a little bit serious in the second half.

(20:00):
So then they said, okay, maybe turn the you know
as as Esquire said, turn the machine on. Yep, yep.
Defensive game plan.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
I thought they did well. They they needed to stop
Navarro like he was like their offense, and we saw
it the one drive there was he was the offense there. Yeah,
so I thought game plan. I thought they did really well.
I think they were at one point or was it here?

(20:34):
So if I did, if I did, here went to
the house. Yeah. The first half, Jared, they held them
the twenty eight yards of total offense. They was injured, Yeah,
understand that, but.

Speaker 1 (20:49):
They didn't convert a third down until like midway through
the third quarter something crazy like that. They scored a
touchdown before they can vert third down.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
Through three quarters, they were one for nine on third downs.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Oh okay, I guess I missed one.

Speaker 2 (21:10):
No, no, through three quarters they were one.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
For the end of the third quarter. Yes, that's what.

Speaker 2 (21:15):
At the end of the third quarter they were one
for nine and then on the the last drive they they.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Had against the Ohio States backups yep.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Correct, yeah yeah, hey, and Jared gives an a plus.

Speaker 1 (21:28):
So the speed of defense was eye popping. Every time
Navarro tried to scramble. I agree, and like they did
what you're supposed to do against the guy like Navarro,
which was like, hey, even if he gives the ball
to the running back, hit him and that's why he
had to leave the game, correct, all.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Right, endgame coaching. Hey this this this is a championship
caliber defense. Granted it is Ohio, but they did exactly
what they needed to do other than other than a
long bomb that got caught that went for a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Like they you can't blame the coaching on that. The
player was in position, the player messed up.

Speaker 2 (22:19):
Yeah, yeah, he give. I'll give in game coaching it a.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
I'll go with an A plus, all right.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
Uh. Tackling this, this is this is a really really
well coached defense. Tackling, tackling, tackling has just been so good.
I can't really there might be there might be some
sure there, there is that one there, but overall, like

(22:55):
through three games, like there hasn't really been like any
just like eye opening, like my gut, my goodness. Uh,
linebackers can't tackle, can't tackle them. The defensive ends are missing,
missing the running backs like this is a this is
a really well coached defense on tackling. So I'll say

(23:19):
I'll give an a minus for this one just because
of the the long touchdown. If if it wasn't for that,
it'd be it'd be a solid day. I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
What what what was your grid?

Speaker 2 (23:35):
And A minus? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (23:37):
A minus? Yeah, I mean I went down to a
B plus again because because of one play. And that's unfortunate,
but that's that's football. It is like what what? What
was what was Ohio's total yards?

Speaker 5 (23:50):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (23:50):
One one?

Speaker 1 (23:52):
Sixty seven of that was on one play.

Speaker 2 (23:56):
Sixty seven of that was on one play, and their
last drive was fifty seven yards where they had the
ball against the back six and a half minutes. What
is that? Seventy five plus fifty seven one hundred and
thirty two yards just on those two drives.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
So take the take the sixty away. They had forty
nine yards outside of against the starters outside of one play.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Yeah. Uh, run run stop A plus. Run stop was outstanding,
outstanding in the in this game. Here A plus for
run stop.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
What's the numbers?

Speaker 2 (24:47):
So before before the last drive where they just were
Ohio just ran, ran, ran, It was able to get
good chunk yards. It was point I think it was
down to point eight yards per carry. Yeah, it ended
up being two yards per carry, but that's yeah, outstanding

(25:07):
run block. They Ohio ended up rushing the ball thirty
four times for sixty eight yards. But again that last
drive they they again most of those most of those
rushing yards came on that last drive.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
Yeah, I agree.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
All right? Uh pass rush rush four sex in this game, Yeah,
pretty good, Pretty good.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
I mean, I don't it's not it's not like Ohio
was sitting back there trying to throw it deep a lot.
It's not like they had a ton of opportunity for sac.

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Correct. Yeah, So I'll say ay, I'll say a for
the for the pass rush. Yeah, Kate and Curry was
an animal. Atkinson had flash flashes in this game here.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
Yeah, the one who took out Navarro. Not that that
necessarily should be your goal. He did it by playing
good solid run defense he did.

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Yeah, yeah in a a for sure, all right, past coverage.
Got gotta gotta give the negative for the for the
lone touchdown given up in here. But other than that,

(26:26):
other than that, the of the wide receivers, Jerry.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Did break his penalty. He did penalty streak mm hmm,
an out of principles, says Esquire. Honestly it was it
was just holding, but he mugged him.

Speaker 2 (26:47):
He did other than the other than the touchdown given
up the longest the longest play for receipt for the
receiver wide receivers for Ohio was six yards. So yeah,
I'll I'll say as I would say a minus as well.
I think that's fair given like expectations, and you should

(27:10):
never give up that kind of a long yardage.

Speaker 1 (27:16):
Yeah, this is what I mean. You take away that
one play and the stats are so funny. Yeah, I mean,
but it's football. You can't take away one play. I mean,
I'm not disagreeing with you as choir. I totally understand
what you're saying. But yeah, that's it is right.

Speaker 2 (27:35):
Yeah, impact plays, impact plays here.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
Yeah, impact plays. You take out their quarterback, you cause
some turnovers, you bat some balls down, TFLs. How many
TF four sacks? How many sels on the day?

Speaker 2 (27:56):
Seven?

Speaker 4 (27:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (28:00):
I think I think that's a good day.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
Yeah, I say, nay, I'll give it a.

Speaker 1 (28:08):
Yeah, I'll I'll tell yeah, I'll go, I'll go. Today
I considered giving the plus, but now we'll stick with
the A.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
Okay, Uh, stops is the next happened?

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Kyle? This is just for you and me. It just happened.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
Esquire too, Yep, I saw, Yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Think I think it's I think it's the new Android.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
Update or I haven't had that issue yet. But in
mind mine's up to date too. But we're I digress.
What let's let's continue on with our gratings here.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Uh on iPhone, Let's just maybe it's the new discord update.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Stop that stops is the next? Is the next? Grading
here for the defense here? Uh mentioned here through three
quarters they held they ad to Ohio one for nine
on third downs. They end up going three for fifteen.
Again they on that last drive they had two of
those third downs against Ohio State's second third string. Uh

(29:11):
defense there, so stop boys, I gotta get a plus.
I thought they I thought stops wise, they didn't. They
did an exceptional job.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
If it's not obvious to anyone, watching stops is kind
of like it's it's it's conversions. It drives in conversions
just on the.

Speaker 2 (29:27):
Other side, and and and they yeah, exactly, yeah, It'llhio.
And they held Ohio oh for one in the red
zone two but attainment yep. Containment. Ay mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
You can't. Can't let Ohio get a sixty seven yard
pass on you.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
I guess containment, I it can.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Okay, Okay, this one might need renamed. Maybe I can
work on the wording. But containment is like it's it's
it's it's it's explosiveness on the other side.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
Ah okay, yeah, I'll say I'll say A A. I mean,
that was just one play. Though everything else they did
they didn't.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
It was just one play, but it was for sixty
seven yards and.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
It was Ohio. Sure, I'll say be. I'll say B.
I'm not going to bring it all the way down
to A. See. I think that's a little much.

Speaker 1 (30:32):
I disagree. It's that's it's the name of it's the
name of the category. I don't know you failed to
all right, and if anyone thinks of a better way
for me to name that, please, I'll take suggestions on that.

Speaker 2 (30:45):
Yeah, all right, all right, that's the defense. We'll take
one more ad break here. We will give our overall
grades here in final thoughts. Yeah, The sweepcats dot Com

zero seven one dot thesmoothcast dot com. A lot of
cool designs, just like the Columbus Interstates exactly a lot
of cool designs Jared Jared made on there from different
cities to different old teams in there.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
Too, orl franchise.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
Yeah, a lot, a lot of cool ones. So like
there's there's one here for Portsmouth Spartans, the Dayton Marco's
Dayton Force. Uh, there's the Canton Bulldogs on there too,
a lot of in the Canton Rollers. That's that's a
that's a cool one too. I like you can you
can find those in much much more over at seventy

(31:55):
seventy one dot the slouthcast dot com or just simply
these asked dot com. We'll take our next ad break
talk and then be right back on our overall thoughts.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Did you know that the Portsmouth Spartans still exist?

Speaker 2 (32:15):
That's cool.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
I did not know that they play in the NFL.
They are the Detroit Lions. Yeah, I did not know
that the Detroit Lions started in the Ohio city of Portsmouth, Portsmith.

(32:37):
I'm not sure how to pronounce it, quite frankly.

Speaker 2 (32:40):
And they.

Speaker 1 (32:43):
Were the Spartans back then.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Okay, yeah, awesome fun facts. All right, I'm gonna go
ahead and move on through with these here. So overall
thoughts in game coaching A off. It's a defense defense
A for me? Yeah, d A A for me.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
I want a minus and a plus. So yeah, A
A feels like a correct in between.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
There sure, motivation, defense, Yeah, motivation and effort?

Speaker 1 (33:22):
Was it was? Was so defensively? I thought the motivation
is fine. I thought they played great, yes, offensively. Was
it the motivation? Do you think motivation was the was
the main issue? Were they just not up to play Ohio?
Or do you think it was something else that would.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
You could have said the same thing if if they
didn't do all that well against Grambling, like they only
put up.

Speaker 6 (33:51):
But they did play well against Scrambling. But they did too,
So that's that's not that's not the Yeah, you know,
I I'm just trying to compare the cakesh second cupcake
Ish team in a row. They have a bye week
coming the Big Ten schedule after that.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Do you think motivation was the issue here?

Speaker 2 (34:13):
Esquire shirt does seem to think so I think so,
I think a little bit. So I'm come. I would
say B minus for me, I will I'll go, I'll
go with A.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
I go with the B minus. I'm lumping general sloppiness
into this category. I think that would fall under discipline
or maybe execution, depending upon which you mean by by sloppiness.
In my opinion, yeah.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Execution, I'm gonna I'm gonna grade low. I mean defense,
defense did really well, minus did one play offense struggled
a lot in the first half with finishing the plays.
So yeah, i'd say execution. I say a C. I say, see,

(35:00):
you got gotta get better, got to get better in
the red zone, gotta gotta convert those fourth down, that
fourth down, gotta convert those uh those red zones and
not not make a end up having three points.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
I think I think a Schuire said it well, general sloppiness,
So yeah, execution at a D.

Speaker 2 (35:19):
Yeah, discipline. Way too many, way too many penalties in
that first half, way too many. I don't know what
it was. If I can, I don't know if I
can easily find it right now. Penalties they had, they
had five. I'm sorry six penalties, three three on each

(35:41):
three on each side. There. Yeah, I'll say I say
for discipline, I'll say C as well. Can't have that many,
can't have that many penalties.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Yeah, And as I do like to, you know, discipline
is about more than penalty.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
And you can say seven. You can say seven penalties too,
but it wasn't. It was an offset penalty where Jeremiah
had that unsportsman like conduct as well.

Speaker 1 (36:11):
He's gotta be careful with that because even if it's
offset you get two of those, you get tossed.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
Yeah, discipline, I'm gonna go with the C two. But again,
this is about more than than penalties. And I just again,
as Esquire said, general sloppiness.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
Mm hmm, all right, special special special teams. He kicks
the field goals, fielding, fielding, got to kick some field goals. Finally,
all right, three for three, uh and it's and it's got.

Speaker 1 (36:59):
You got twenty six return.

Speaker 2 (37:02):
Yeah, he had, he had a couple of good returns.
He had one really good return. I should say he
had one good return. The other one was and maybe
you shouldn't have. But I can't complain about special teams.
I really can't so I'll say, Ana, there's there's nothing,
there's nothing for me to say negative.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
So yeah, that's fair turnovers, all right, Ohio State unfortunate
couple unfortunate interceptions that were you know, not traditional like

(37:41):
bad throw interceptions or bad choice interceptions. One was bad
at the line, popped up in the air. Shit happens that.
That's just that's that's just football. The other one was
you know, saying, tried to trying to avoid a sack.
Maybe hold on to that one next time. I'm young

(38:03):
guy trying to trying to make do the sac. One
was crazy over there. There's a non zero chance that
even if that wasn't caught that they could have reviewed
that for a a fumble. Howard had a couple of
those two he did, so yet not a good turnover

(38:26):
day for for Ohigh State.

Speaker 2 (38:29):
Yeah, let's say see, I'm gonna go d it's it's
this is an inferior opponent.

Speaker 1 (38:35):
You have to do. You have to be better than that.
But they were. They also were kind of weird circumstantial.

Speaker 2 (38:42):
I don't know, that's why it wasn't That's why it was.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
I talk myself out of it.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
Gotcha so offense, So offense as a whole here as
we're finishing up the ratings here, office as a whole. Uh,
I'm looking, I'm looking at mine. I gave a lot
of a couple of B A C, A C, A
D A few a's here. So I guess overall, I'll say,
I'll say a B overall. I mean you they got

(39:10):
they got it together. I know they got it together
in the second half. I mean almost six hundred yards
in total offense. That the big the big things is
that they didn't finish in finish in that first half
in the red zones there, And yeah, I mean that's
that's a story of this game. Offensively, they did not

(39:31):
finish the drives and if they did, honestly, would have
easily been fifty plus points in this game.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
Hey, Kyle, how do you win the football game?

Speaker 2 (39:41):
You score points?

Speaker 1 (39:42):
What did Ohio State not do the entire first half?

Speaker 2 (39:46):
They didn't convert those red zone.

Speaker 1 (39:50):
Drives, which against Ohio you can get away with because
it's Ohio. You do that against even a middling Big
ten team, you can get punished. Uh. You you simply
can't do that. D yep, you can cannot be.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
Middle Big ten teams.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
Shared, yeah, and they'll punish you for it. Okay, I mean,
thank god. The defense is the defense that that's That's
what I'm gonna say. Okay, just as the alert system

(40:31):
that's funny.

Speaker 2 (40:33):
And d or and defense here and I'll say, I
say an a, I'm looking, I'm a cross looking at
across all my ratings here a bunch of as few
A plus's one A minus, so defense a A overall.
I know that the the the glare is the one
long play that was Ohio's only touchdown, which I kind

(40:56):
of I kind of expect, like, oh I was going
to get one touchdown in there, and I think you
also cashed Jared that I said, hey, guys, don't don't fret,
don't freak out if a house if Ohio scores a
touchdown in here or they get or they get ten points.
But you also weren't expecting Navarro to miss a large

(41:16):
chunk of the game.

Speaker 1 (41:17):
Sure, sure that I mean that that we we can talk.
I mean, congrats to the defense for executing and doing
everything great, but we talk about like, oh, if you
take away the last drive against the backups, and if
you take away the one big touchdown they only had
was it forty seven yards. It's a different story if
Navarro is in and healthy the entire game. So that

(41:40):
has that, in my opinion, has to be taken into
consideration too. Sure, I'm gonna go with an A, but
at the end of the day, I'm gonna go with
an A because ultimately, it was a good, solid defense
that forced Navarro out. It was good discipline play by
your defensive end, crashing down, hitting the quarterback even though
he gave it up. That's good solid football, that's good discipline.

(42:09):
But ultimately we don't get you don't. You don't get
a plus, not because Navarro was hurt, but for giving
up sixty seven yard touchdown.

Speaker 2 (42:16):
Yeap, all right, and overall here overall, for the for
the game here again oo State one, thirty seven to nine,
just missing out on the uh the the Vegas line,
which is what thirty two and a half was it?

Speaker 1 (42:36):
I fluctuated anywhere from thirty two to thirty five depending
upon the day.

Speaker 2 (42:40):
Yeah, defense was spectacular the overall, And obviously we've been
HARKing on the offense already and what we went to
see and all that. So overall I'd say B plus.
I'll say B plus and that, and that's heavily graded

(43:02):
based on the offense needing to improve on the red zone.

Speaker 1 (43:05):
Hey, Kyle, after Ohio scored the touchdown, what was the score?

Speaker 2 (43:13):
It was thirteen to nine, thirteen to nine in the
third quarter against the MAC team.

Speaker 1 (43:25):
Overall score C minus. That's that ain't gonna cut it.
That is not going to cut it. In fact, D plus. Okay,

(43:50):
I got I got more mad the longer I thought
about it. That's not gonna cut it. You don't let cow.
When was the last time Ohio lost Excuse me, when
was the last time Ohio State lost to an Ohio team.
It's it's been over one hundred.

Speaker 2 (44:12):
Years, not this century, not last century, No, it was
last century. Oh yeah, all right, Yes.

Speaker 1 (44:24):
Last time they lost to a MAC team they never have.
But the last time they lost to a team that
was in the MAC they lost to Toledo in like
nineteen forty or nineteen ninety excuse me, eighteen ninety four
or something like that. But it's been it's been more

(44:44):
recent than that that. It was simply a team within
the state of Ohio. Regardless. Point is, you don't have
you don't you don't play against the team for Mathens
that late into the game them within a score. That's
it's just not acceptable.

Speaker 2 (45:06):
Okay, all right, and that's her was.

Speaker 1 (45:11):
The last team to beat us. That sounds right to me.
I don't remember, Esquire, but I believe it was Oberlin,
and I believe I think it was a little bit
longer ago than nineteen twenty two. I want to say
it was maybe nineteen oh something or maybe in that area.
I don't remember off the top of my head, but

(45:34):
it was something like that. It was nineteen ninety two
or excuse me, god, nineteen twenty.

Speaker 2 (45:39):
Two, twenty two?

Speaker 1 (45:40):
Yeah, oh, I guess, I guess it was twenty one.
I guess it was twenty one.

Speaker 2 (45:46):
All right. That is that is her. Our grades for
seven to six for the Ahistate, Ohio matchup here did
have just one quick question, I know, over in time,
but one quick question from Buckeye Esquire here, which one
of these players is most likely to retain their role

(46:07):
through the remainder of the season. And it's People's McGuire
or uh, Tagra.

Speaker 1 (46:16):
Yeah, I'm it's not even I tell you what. Tagra
then McGuire, than Innos, then People's. Although I'm kind of
if you want to switch innocent people's I'd forgive you.

(46:40):
That's that's that's that's how I feel about that, all right, Kyle?
Is that is?

Speaker 5 (46:45):
That?

Speaker 1 (46:45):
Is that the show a show?

Speaker 5 (46:47):
Ye?

Speaker 1 (46:48):
Kyle? Do you have anything in Kyle's corner?

Speaker 2 (46:51):
I had one one one thing here though, Jared, Uh,

Speaker 5 (46:59):

that is his name? His name is Duncan from the Discord.
Uh left also left an asked slipcast question asking hey,
