(01:13):
Welcome to another episode ofthe Sober Chapters podcast, and
I think we've just beenrecording for four minutes,
which I didn't realize, so Idon't know whether that's going
to stay on there or not.
However, I'm still in LosAngeles and today I'm joined by
the beautiful Katie Hutzel.
Now, I met Katie through myamazing mentor, taryn, and the
(01:33):
Queen Collective, and it wasjust so random how we were
brought together.
We were in this container andwe were put into random rooms
and the minute that we startedchatting, it was just so obvious
that we were meant to meet andbe in each other's lives and you
know she's naturally here inLos Angeles as well and alcohol
free, and today we made ithappen.
(01:54):
So I've met her for the firsttime in person and we've spent
the most gorgeous afternoontogether and I really wanted to
do a podcast in person with herbecause I felt like it was just
such a great opportunity to dothat, given that we're both over
here, and yeah, so I'll letI'll let Katie introduce herself
to you and, um, yeah, I'm surewe're gonna go into all the
things about being alcohol freeand all the gifts of sobriety as
(02:17):
well thank you, katie.
Speaker 2 (02:19):
Thank you for having
me.
I'm so excited to be here andit's crazy that you said that we
just met today for the firsttime.
Because I feel I'm so excitedto be here and it's crazy that
you said that we just met todayfor the first time, because I
feel like I'm sitting next tosomeone that I've known for
years.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
I know right.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
So that was like wait
what?
But yeah, brought together andthere's bond connected,
strengthened through thesobriety.
So I'm excited to be here andto talk to you about this and
just a little bit about myself.
I'm katie, I'm a reiki masterteacher, founder of elevate
(02:54):
healing events and, um, Iwouldn't be where I am today
without my sobriety.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
So, yeah, yeah, I
remember when, um, when I
started working with Taryn andshe mentioned that she had this
gorgeous friend of hers that wassober as well, living in Los
Angeles, and she couldn't waitto connect us, and I don't think
we've ever really gone intodetail together about, kind of I
guess, how you came to thatdecision and, um, I think it's
(03:22):
it's just been five years foryou almost, yes, amazing.
So how did it all come about, like, how did you decide to go
down that road so sobriety issomething that I had tried to do
in the past multiple times.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Um, something about
January 1st.
So my date is January 1st 2020,yeah, which is a whole nother
story, but every time New Year'sEve came along, new Year's Day,
I would say, okay, this is it,I'm going to do 30 days alcohol
free, I'm going to stop alcohol.
And I would always put myselfon that 30 day dry January and
(04:00):
then a couple of weeks in, itjust wouldn't stick.
So something about I had justmoved to LA in July 2019 and
thought that being in a new citywould change things and I could
, you know, go down the soberlifestyle Didn't happen, but
January 1st 2020, I made thedecision and stuck to it, and
(04:24):
three months in is obviouslywhen COVID happened.
So I say it's crazy, becausethe path that I went down once
the world shut down is what putme on this path that I'm on now.
And had I still been drinking, Ithink that those couple of
years when the world shut downwould have looked very different
for me, but it gave me the timeto do a lot of the
(04:53):
self-development work and signup for all the different
certifications that I did.
I think I did like eightcertifications in 2020 alone.
Yeah, wow, a few more in 2021.
And it just led me to creatingwhat I have now, which is my
event company, elevate HealingEvents, which basically was
created to bring communitytogether, one in a time where we
really needed community, buttwo also to bring an alternative
(05:16):
of people to find a way to meeteach other through meditation,
breath, work, sound healing justthese other avenues of wellness
.
That wasn't going out to a barand getting a drink and meeting
someone that way.
So really even my company iskind of created around creating
alternative ways for people tocome together, to connect, where
(05:38):
you can actually have realconversations that aren't, you
know, the surface level whichwe've talked a lot about, about
today, just like having thosereal conversations and really
getting to know someone that'snot stifled by outside.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Um yeah, yeah, as
you're talking, then, like it's
just coming up for me, and it'scome up for me so much since
I've been over here in LA isjust like the connection side of
it.
I like just having like thosebeautiful authentic connections
and I really feel like we justattract in like completely
different types of people, right.
(06:11):
Like it's and it's beautifulbecause there's like there's no
masks or facade or anything andit's kind of like you just yeah,
like we've been in flow likeall day today, right like even
when we took the wrong turn.
Okay, so I am getting used todriving on the wrong side of the
road, or I should say the rightside of the road, which for me
is the wrong side of the roadbecause we're in America, and
(06:33):
then I can't multitask very welland me and Katie are like just
chatting away and I'm trying tofollow the sat nav and I ended
up Katie was like I think it'sthat way and I was like no, no,
I think I think this way, andthen, anyway, we went the wrong
way, but it ended up still beingthe right way and the I
couldn't believe it because thetime didn't change, like there
was no delay, and we're like, oh, there we go, we can go any way
that we want and we're gonnastill be just flowing into the
(06:54):
right, you know destination, which is, yeah, it's how it's
felt, isn't it?
I think actually, that brings meto like our work that we've
been doing with Taryn and theQueen Collective, because,
ultimately, another big messageof mine with removing alcohol is
how it really brings us back tolike who we truly are, but back
to our hearts and back to ourfeminine and being able to ebb
and flow in that way, which Iknow for a fact, when I was
(07:17):
drinking, like I was very rigid, like I didn't realize it, but
it was keeping me like in myhead and you know less able to
to do that, and I think, yeah, how do you feel about that side
of?
Speaker 2 (07:27):
it?
Yeah, 100%.
I think that is one of thebiggest things for me is when
you do remove the alcohol, youconnect back into yourself and
your inner guidance system andallow you to live from that and
from that flow, which has beenexactly what you've been doing
the whole time you're in LA.
(07:48):
But that was one of the biggestthings for me is reconnecting
back in to my intuition, tomyself and living from there,
which it just grows.
Like I always tell people Idon't know how, but for some
reason, like when you're insobriety or when you move,
remove alcohol from your life iswhat I did.
(08:10):
Um, each year keeps gettingbetter and better.
Yeah, like it just keepsgetting better, like I don't
know how it's possible, but it'sjust like each year I've
stepped more into my purpose.
I've stepped more into thatflow, into that feminine flow,
just where you allow things tohappen for you instead of like
fighting it or trying to controlit, and when you can fully step
(08:33):
into that is like when all themagic happens, or when you can
make the wrong turn down ahighway but also still be going
the right way, like with no timeadded.
It's just like everything wewere doing, it just couldn't
interrupt the flow that we're inI know I know it's put you on
that frequency that like, likeattracts like yeah which is how
(08:57):
we could come together and be onthe frequency that we're at and
just have like the experiencesthat we're having, the
conversations we're having, likeoh, that's awesome.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
I just got like
goosebumps.
I love it.
I love it so much like I'm just, you know, I love sharing about
it and and having people likeyou on here, because, like it
does, I think, give hope to alot of people that perhaps are
in the early stages, where it'squite challenging at the
beginning and I think there is,like with any transformation
(09:28):
there's that part of you thatyou know the in-between isn't
there, where you haven't quiteyet found your people or you
haven't quite yet let go of likethe old kind of versions of you
or the old layers of you orwhat have you, and it can feel
quite lonely as well and I feellike, yeah, that again.
Coming back to the connections, like I feel like I'm meeting
people like you and more andmore people are coming into my
(09:49):
sphere where it's like, wow, this is amazing.
And then you kind of start tosee how there could be
partnerships moving forwards aswell.
Right, like you know, we're intothe same things and I feel like
gosh, like I'm 40, you're noteven there yet, and it's like
there's a whole life and ofopportunity ahead, that you know
, like you say, it gets betterand better each year and like
that's really exciting isn't it,it's so exciting, um, and I and
(10:14):
I feel like you you touched onit and and I know it for you too
that you've obviously foundyour calling and you've aligned
with your soul's gifts and yoursoul's purpose and all of that
like how long did that take youto find that road, like from
when you took alcohol out ofyour life in that January and
you obviously went on a bit of acuriosity type journey?
I guess and threw yourself intothat like what's it look like in
(10:35):
terms of being able to findwhat it was that really you know
you're doing now.
That lit you up, I suppose.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
I would say that the
first year was really kind of me
finding myself.
Something that made a massivedifference for me is three
months into my sobriety.
I found Reiki, energy healing.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
And I took my Reiki
level one.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
And this was after I
had already signed up for a five
certification, this massivecoaching program.
And I'm like, okay, I alreadydid my meditation teacher
training, I already did thebreath work, now I'm going to do
life and success coaching andmindset coaching and something
about Reiki.
Just I felt this like strongpull, like to learn more about
energy.
And of course, I got in my headand I'm like you just signed up
(11:24):
for five certifications, do youreally need something else?
And I was like, let me just geton the phone and talk to her
and see, and by the end of thephone call I had signed up for
the training.
And now that's primarily what Ido is I teach Reiki to others.
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
Because for me the
most empowering thing about it
is you teach other people.
One, you teach about yourenergy system, like your energy,
what's yours, you start tobecome aware of what might not
be your energy or energies youmight be like feeling from other
people.
But two, the intuition piece.
It helps you tap back into yourinner knowing.
(12:00):
And three, you learn how toself-heal.
So that's the first thing youteach.
It's about healing the healerfirst.
So no matter what we do in life, it's like you have to work on
yourself first to be able tohelp others.
So just learning like theself-healing and learning to
take my healing into my ownhands is so empowering.
(12:23):
And it's one of my favoritethings is like teaching other
people, because a lot of peoplethink when they think of Reiki
healing, it's about healingothers or doing sessions on
other people, but it's like no,it's really about working on
yourself and bringing thathealing into your own body
through your own hands.
You're literally healingyourself that way.
So I'd always known that likethe Reiki was part of my calling
(12:48):
and I kind of tried to likepush it away and just do other
things and started with thecoaching and it was really when
I fully stepped in to claimingthat this was like part of my,
my gifts, that I and thingsstarted to transpire faster.
So it was probably like a yearand a half in of me, just like
(13:09):
collecting all the data, workingon myself, doing all the
coachings, the masterminds thatI was doing, that once I made
Elevate Healing Events at LLC, Iwas like it was just like
everything kind of fell intoplace.
Yeah, like I feel like, especially in early sobriety,
it's just like you're one footin front of the other and you're
just collecting like puzzlepieces.
(13:30):
You're collecting experience,knowledge.
You're collecting little piecesthat you don't know how they're
going to fit together, but then, like one day, you turn around
and all the puzzle pieces arelike laid out and perfectly fit
and you can see the picture andit's like whoa, yeah, and that's
when it just like hits yeah, and you're like, okay, so all of
these things I've been doingwasn't for nothing.
(13:54):
Like my 15 years in the eventindustry, half of that was
behind a bar.
I was a bartender Like it wasmy life.
Speaker 1 (14:00):
Yeah, but.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
I realize now that I
was creating the experience of,
like, talking other peoplethrough things or the events.
I was getting the experience Ineeded to run a six-day retreat
in Costa Rica and have it floweffortlessly, um.
So it's really cool, it's ajourney, but yeah, it's like
(14:21):
every part of the journey you'relearning something that or tool
that you might need to whenthat puzzle piece like falls.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
I know it's funny,
isn't it?
It's like one of those thingslike I think again, we were
talking about it earlier how, like you never really know where
it's going, but you know thatit's all going exactly in the
way that it should, and thenwhen you look back, it kind of
like all makes sense.
You're like, oh right, okay, andthen it's like just continuing
to trust, isn't it?
(14:49):
But I know you touched on theintuition and the inner guidance
and you know that's been justlike one of the the biggest and
greatest gifts of everything forme, like really, I think,
really having that awareness, yeah, that awareness and that
distinction between what is likemy ego and like the patterns
and the fear versus, like youknow my higher self, like
(15:09):
knowing what my higher selfwants for me, and you know it's
a really it's a really hardthing to tune into when you're a
drinker, even when you're asocial drinker, because, like
your mind can play tricks on youanyway, right, and then there's
obviously all the disconnectionand the numbing that happens,
but yeah, because it is likemore, it's like a, an inner
(15:30):
knowing, isn't it?
And in an inner feeling, that'sreally subtle.
So yeah, yeah yeah, and I guess, like with Reiki as well, like
it's a huge part of that must beto be so completely connected
and in alignment.
And do people, do peoplepractice reiki and still drink?
Do you think, is that a thing?
Speaker 2 (15:51):
I'm sure people do,
yeah, um, for like I couldn't,
but I mean I'm sure, yeah, surepeople do, yeah, it's just for
me when, with the drinking I got, once I started getting because
I no, I was, I was stillworking in the industry, but, um
, I wasn't consuming.
But the more I started gettingenergetically in tuned, um, let
(16:16):
me back up when I was stilldrinking.
I would do all this work tofeel really good.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
And then I would go
out and have a night of just
like drinking a lot.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
I was going to say
absolutely getting smashed.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
I guess we don't need
to hold back here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, but I startednoticing that it would take me
longer to recover, just to getup to that baseline.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
So like I would be at
this baseline of feeling really
good, I would drink and then itwould come down to here and it
would take me two days just toget up to the baseline, whereas
if I wasn't drinking my energywould be up here.
So it was like this constantgame of catch up energetically,
(16:58):
so like that is kind of likewhen I was like, okay, what are
you doing?
Is it really worth to go outfor a night of drinks?
Because for me I couldn't stopyou know it was.
My issue was I would go out andonce I started drinking I
couldn't stop.
Yeah, okay, and so it wouldtake me two days to recover and
in that two days I'm missinghikes, I was supposed to go on
with friends or I'm cancelingplans, and it's just like
missing Pilates classes and it'sjust is it worth it?
Speaker 1 (17:20):
So it came to a point
where I'm like it's just not
worth it for me, yeah, anymore,to be missing all this time and
then energetically justcompletely draining yourself and
just not feeling myself and allthat extra work it takes just
to get to your baseline offeeling good again yeah, there
was an expression that I heard Ican't remember who it was, I
(17:42):
think it might have been KagiDunlop, who's someone I used to
follow in the UK and she talksabout how it literally charges
you interest like the next day, like it's a complete depletion,
and I think like going back tolike the disconnection and you
know, maybe alcohol being likenot great for it, like I've
certainly felt like being acoach, felt like being a coach.
(18:10):
What I hadn't realized was howeverything is so intuitively led
and how it's so important tohave that, you know, connection
to source, higher power, youknow whatever you want to call
it, and I've even noticed that Ican't drink coffee before I
coach because it disconnects me.
And I think to myself like foryears I wanted to be a coach but
I hadn't worked out that it wasgoing to be in the alcohol-free
space because I hadn't workedout, I was going to give up
(18:31):
alcohol.
But now I'm like how the hellwould anyone be able to do it
really, when you do need to beso connected and, like you say,
like if you have one big nightout that can floor you for for
like days and like that's one ofthe things I love about being
alcohol free is that, like youhave that certainty and trust
within yourself and you can likeschedule your diary and know
(18:55):
that, like I remember at work Iused to be afraid to put
meetings in on a Monday morningand, like you know, I would like
build my diary around what wasgoing on on the weekend, whereas
now it's like I got messagedyesterday to say can you like
fit in, like um, an appointmentat six o'clock tomorrow morning,
my first, my first bookappointment, yeah, yeah, and I
was like, yeah, it's six o'clock, fine, because I know you'll
(19:16):
show up becauseeven though you and I are gonna
go and have a, you know, amocktail mocktail and go wild
after this, like we know thatwe're gonna go home to our beds
and you know everything's goingto be as it was left, type thing
, and then wake up and dowhatever we need to do, and that
I mean that is priceless, right.
So priceless.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
You know that one
you're going to make it home.
Speaker 1 (19:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (19:38):
You're going to wake
up, you're going to feel good,
yeah, and you're not going toworry about what the hell you
did last night, or have to, likelook through my phone and be
like, oh crap, who did I call?
What did I text?
Like yeah just the certainty ofwaking up, feeling good yeah
like yeah it's, yeah, it'sgorgeous, isn't it?
(20:00):
it's funny, it's stuff that Ikind of just don't really
realize anymore.
But looking back, like I've hadso many flights I missed
because I went out drinking likeyeah, okay, yeah, yeah.
I just don't realize how muchmy life has changed from just
removing that one thing I think.
Speaker 1 (20:21):
Um, like, as you're
talking, then, like it's
bringing up stuff for me of like, yeah, because I certainly had
like my wild, like party girlyears in my teens and my 20s and
even though I tried to avoidhangovers as much as I could in
my 30s, because, like I actuallyhad a really bad anxiety the
next day, but like they, I wouldstill have big nights, but like
(20:42):
it was kind of like that, thatshame and self-loathing and
self-esteem, like just beingourselves up the next day.
And I think, you know, I'verealized through all of this,
like how important, like it'sfundamental to have like a
loving relationship withyourself and like the power of
that and and how many incrediblelike changes that makes and
(21:04):
seeps into every area of ourlife.
And I think, like I'm nowreally, really proud of the
person that I am and that I'vebecome, and like you know I'm, I
don't know, I've just know,I've got me, you know, and that
I'm sure you're feeling exactlythe same way and I think that's
just yeah, that's, that's huge.
(21:25):
It's had a huge impact on oneverything for me.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Yeah, yeah it's
having the resources come from
internally rather than outsideof you, like having the drink to
get the confidence, or having adrink because you're upset
about something and masking that.
It's allowing yourself to feelthat, to work through it, which
(21:52):
was one of the hardest thingsthat I had to go through.
When I first got sober is Istarted feeling things and I was
like what the hell is this?
You have to feel your emotions, you have to feel things to move
through them.
Emotions are energy in motion.
So I think that's one of themost healing parts about
(22:13):
sobriety is working throughthings, allowing yourself to
heal them, feel them to healthem, yeah, yeah.
And then you start to sourcethat from within.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
You source like the
confidence or the I don't know
what else yeah, trying to sayhere, but like essentially
sourcing from it within, insteadof having to look outside of
yourself yeah, and the feelingis healing thing, like
absolutely, because I think, like one of my biggest messages
(22:45):
is about how removing alcohol islike a fast track um for for
healing and growth and all ofthat, and that you know, again,
going back to the fact that evensocial drinking it's you're
missing opportunities, so thatthey say don't they, or it's
true that triggers are actuallyleading to, leading you to where
you're not free, right, and ifyou're drinking in situations
(23:06):
where you might get activatedand feel uncomfortable, like
you're not going to actuallyknow, like that that's a thing
and that that's something thatyou need to look at.
And I think, yeah, that'sexactly what you're saying,
right, and I again, it getseasier and easier.
I want people to know thatbecause at the beginning you
start like I don't remember Iused to have like rushes of
anxiety in certain situationsand I never knew that I drank to
(23:30):
mask, like I now know that Iabsolutely did, but I didn't
really realize that.
I thought it just made me likemore confident or false
confident or whatever.
But I now realize there was ahuge amount of insecurity that I
was, you know, hiding andmasking and yeah, that's.
It's really given me theopportunity to go deep with
where those insecurities havecome from and really understand
(23:52):
myself and have that awareness.
And yeah, I mean, it'sliterally every area of our
lives.
It's so true, isn't it?
And yeah, I just feel so luckythat we've gone down this road.
For sure it's free, it's so.
You said it earlier.
It's freedom, it is, it'scomplete freedom in so many ways
(24:14):
.
Yeah, it really is.
Yeah, and just because I think,um, I used to get scared of
feeling uncomfortable and I usedto run from pain, so that's
something that I've, um, I'veworked out about myself as well,
is that so, apparently?
Well, I am.
(24:34):
I'm an Enneagram number seven, which is the enthusiast right
which sounds great and wonderful, but it's actually one of my
traits is that I see thingsthrough rose-tinted glasses,
which isn't always great whenyou're trying to do the healing,
because you're looking back andnot actually like recognizing,
like, the real truths of things.
So, and the other trait of itis that, um, you run from pain,
(25:00):
and I think that's what I alwaysdid, and I think one of the
biggest things, going back tofreedom, is like the emotional
freedom that it's given me to beable to sit with these
uncomfortable emotions and notbe afraid of them anymore,
because actually it's like thefear of the feelings that makes
them worse, isn't it?
And now it's like no, it's cool, we've got it, like, we're used
(25:21):
to it, like, yeah, you know,we've had five years of that now
, so how, how's that impactedyou as well?
Speaker 2 (25:29):
um, you know there's
always stuff to still be working
through, but I feel like itmakes it a lot easier.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
You know, um yeah, no
, it's gorgeous.
Um, I know we were talkingearlier about, um, the dating
scene as well and I wonderedwhether we were going to get
onto this.
So Katie and I are both verymuch single and enjoying that
side of it and, yeah, I feellike I was saying to her in the
(26:03):
car, like I just feel soempowered by the way that we
date or don't date now and allthe things because, again
leaning into, I guess leaninginto the feminine right.
it's just like we both have thistrust that everything's just
going to happen exactly as itshould, and that's really
exciting.
(26:23):
So how do you envision that foryourself, like, what are your
sort of thoughts around datingnow and what you're kind of
looking forward to with thatrespect?
Speaker 2 (26:38):
looking forward to.
With that respect, I think it'sexactly how you said.
It's the trust that I know whenmy person, when we're supposed
to cross paths, it's going to bethere, so it's like not this
fear around it or this.
You know, I'm turning 37 in acouple months and I'm not
married and don't have threekids and all the things Because
I really have been so focused onmyself and my own healing
journey and I've changed so muchin these past five years that
(27:04):
I'm a completely differentperson than I was three years
ago, even last year.
Because it's just like you said, it's such a sobriety, it's
such a fast track to your ownhealing journey and to becoming
the best version of yourself youcan be, because you have
nothing, you have no one to hidefrom, you can't hide from
yourself.
So it's just a trust in knowingthat it's going to happen when
(27:29):
it's going to happen.
And I'm not too worried aboutit right now because, again, the
same it's healing the healerfirst.
Too worried about it right nowbecause, again, the same.
It's healing the healer first.
I'm working on myself.
Yeah, I'm building my business, building an amazing community
of Reiki practitioners and justpeople that from the retreats,
yeah, yeah.
And I just feel like I'm insuch a good place that the
(27:52):
person that I meet now is adifferent person than I would
have dated five years ago, orthat I would even allow to have
Totally.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
Totally, totally.
Speaker 2 (28:06):
But it's exciting,
yeah, you know, because when
you're putting your best versionof yourself forward, I'm always
like, whoever he is, he's goingto be amazing, amazing, yeah,
and I just know it yeah, and Itrust it and yeah trust in
divine timing, I trust in theflow of life.
I trust, when you're tapped in,when you're connected to your
(28:26):
intuition and when you'rewalking through there through
heart-centered awareness, thatthings just happen how they're
supposed to happen.
It's like the path is laid outin front of us and all we have
to do is just take that nextstep.
We don't have to jump aheadlike five steps, it's just like
what is this next step I need totake right now?
And following that, and thenguess what?
(28:48):
When you take that next step, then you get your next step.
Like that's how it works whenyou're truly in flow and when
you're truly present, like inthe present moment, because that
is the only place we can livefrom.
We can't live from the past.
We can't live thinking aboutall the crazy stuff we used to
do, or shame, or guilt.
We can't live in the futurethinking like, oh well, I want a
(29:11):
family on the hillside in Italyor whatever, but it's like I
know if I'm living right here,if I'm living from this present
moment I'm breathing.
You can't go wrong.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
Today was a perfect
example.
Speaker 2 (29:25):
You can't make a
wrong turn if you're living from
the present, if you're livingin your flow and in your truth.
Speaker 1 (29:31):
Yeah, it's just yeah,
it's that keeping connected,
isn't it?
And being being in your heartspace, just living from that
that beautiful love frequency,so yummy, it's so good.
And like, as you're talking,I'm just and talking about the
future and the guy thing andeverything you know I'm just
sensing like that inner peaceand it's just, it's so gorgeous
(29:54):
and inner peace is somethingthat I value so so much.
Now, like you know, obviouslythings can still get challenging
and everything, but again, ifyou're in that right space and
in your heart, like thechallenges are just so much
easier to navigate as well, right, and I just, you know, I
think back to the version of me,like my 32 year old self, when
(30:14):
things really changed for me andI was like, like I say, much
more my masculine, much morelike controlling, and I hadn't
really realized it and I thoughtI had ticked all the boxes and
like it was a goal of mine toget married and, like you know,
obviously having children wasjust a given and like all these
timelines and everything that Ihad, you know, set up in my mind
, and you know, all of that hascompletely crumbled.
(30:36):
But I'm so grateful I said thisin the car with you, didn't I?
I was like if my 32 year oldself had known that I was going
to be 40, like alcohol free andstill single, I'm not sure.
I'm not sure I would have likedthat.
It was literally my biggestfears, fears, and now it's all
been my greatest gifts because, like you say, the version of me
(31:00):
now compared to back then, likethe guys that I was
energetically attracting andattracted to like completely
different kettle of fish, andthat is one of my biggest
missions and purpose with soberchapters is to I think I even
said to you, didn't I?
I had this vision of me likegiving hope to, yeah, I guess,
(31:20):
like women or people on thosetimelines, and showing them that
you just need to trust thateverything's happening exactly
how it's meant to and for yourhighest good, even though it can
feel really horrible.
Like just yeah, just trustingand, you know, becoming who you
want to attract yeah essentiallythat's been the biggest thing
for me.
It was like stop waiting to berescued, just rescue yourself
(31:43):
and become who you want toattract.
And yeah and I know that weboth say that from a place of
like, we've got open hearts andwe're open and we're not like,
oh, fiercely independent, wehave to be like on our own.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
I think we're
absolutely open to love, right
but from that place of peace, yes, from that place of peace
and trust and knowing yeah youknow, yeah and flowing yeah.
So, ladies, if you're out thereand you're about to turn 30 and
you're freaking out becauseyou're not married, you don't
have the husband, the kids, likeyou have so much time, like
(32:17):
literally, yeah, so much timelike so much time I feel like
you're just beginning to findyourself in your 30s, yeah, like
even into like 40s like that'slike when we step into yeah, and
just like I think the worknever stops and the learning
never stops, and I think that'sthat's something that's just so
(32:40):
important, isn't it to just keepinvesting in the right things
in yourself, being super curious, like following those, like
breadcrumbs, as to what mightlight you up.
Speaker 1 (32:50):
Like it all leads
somewhere, doesn't it?
Speaker 2 (32:54):
yeah, it does yeah it
will lead you to fly halfway
across or almost all the wayacross the world to the
Hollywood sign to connect withsomeone that, like you, just met
, but I just did air quotes justmet, but like yeah, so much
deeper.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
It's gorgeous and I
think that's.
I think again, we touched onInstagram earlier and that just
there's a light side and a darkside of everything in life,
right, isn't there, but I thinkthe most beautiful thing about
the way the world is now withsocial media- and the internet
and like all of Instagram, everything is like how we're
able to make these gorgeousconnections from the other side
(33:33):
of the world.
Because that's right, becauseyou were saying you can do your
reiki as well, energetically, online, can't you like it's all
still, yeah, and that's justincredible yeah, and some of
those sessions are so powerfulbecause you're just like tapped
in, connected and um, so yeah,it's been a blessing yeah, all
(33:54):
of it, and I'm excited because Ithink you've got some plans
going on, haven't you?
So tell us, what have you gotplanned for the next?
Well, for the rest of the yearand for the business and
everything that you're doing.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
Oh man, I'm excited.
I have a couple of trainings inOctober Reiki level one and two
.
I also teach sound healingAmazing Sound bath facilitator
training.
So I teach people not only toplay the bowls but also how to
lead group sessions and eventsand run events and all the stuff
that's taking me years to likeget down.
(34:27):
Um, I do have my reiki masterretreat in joshua tree in
february gorgeous, which I'm soexcited about.
I love doing the trainings, butin a retreat format, because it
gives you the time to step awayfrom your normal life and just
be fully immersed in the workand the energy, but also be
(34:49):
taken care of and surrounded byamazing community, like-minded
souls.
Yeah, yes, so it just deepensthe connection um with the
people that sign up too.
Speaker 1 (34:59):
I was gonna say the
girls, but we got girls and boys
yeah, um and then, um, I'mpotentially doing some traveling
later this year, so I'm superexcited got loads happening yes,
yeah yeah, I think it's gonnabe a really exciting like well,
(35:20):
obviously, future, but I thinkthe next six months for both of
us is, oh, yeah, looking evenmore transformational.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
I can so feel it.
I said that when we weretalking even about recording
this episode, I'm like.
I feel like we're activators foreach other, because you have
people in your lives that comein and kind of activate
something within you that likehelps move you forward in life,
even if it's just through aconversation.
And I do this for a lot ofpeople.
But it was nice because I'verealized that you're one of
(35:49):
those people.
For me, that kind of just likesparks, like that inspiration
and that next step and even whatwe're doing right here, right
now, you know, I know and I tellyou what hats off to it,
because I we didn't.
Speaker 1 (36:02):
I mean, we kind of
knew that we got on from the
minute we first chatted, but atthe same time, like you know,
I've come and got you, met youfor the first time.
We've had like we were likelike having our teas and all the
talking about all thesynchronicities and all the
incredible things, but yeah, andthen we've come and done this
and it's actually the first timeI've ever done an in-person
(36:25):
interview as well, and it's likethe people Katie Yay, the first
of many, you know manifestingmy move to Los Angeles.
You listeners are probablybored about me chatting about it
, but I just feel like I belonghere.
I literally feel like I belonghere and we touched on it
earlier with the technician thatwas in here, but I don't even
(36:47):
feel like that was necessarilymy choice.
I mean, I'm embracing it, but Ifeel like there's a calling for
me here and it's reallyexciting, really exciting yeah
yeah, you have places thatenergetically call to you.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
Yeah, and sometimes
you can't explain it, but it's,
it's energy.
It's energetic, it's a knowingand it's something about like
the land or being here that hassomething for you.
Yeah, um, and I was gonna gosomewhere else and it just
completely lifted away, whichmeans I'm not supposed to, but
(37:19):
it's, you know, it's true, it'slike it's alignment.
Speaker 1 (37:27):
I think I touched on
it with your housemate earlier
when she brought up theastrocartography and how our
souls are energetically alignedto certain places in the world
and I really feel that here, um,which is yeah something that I
want to look into more and more,um, and then we need to see how
you feel about Australia tooyeah, you to come and visit over
(37:48):
there oh, I remember so it wassaying when you're here, how you
know that you're in flow andyou're supposed you're on the
right track is when thesesynchronicities keep happening
yeah.
Speaker 2 (38:01):
And you have been in
so much flow here that it's like
right, left, front center, likesynchronistic moment,
synchronistic divine connection, and it's like when every step
you take, something is happening.
That's when you know you're inflow.
Yeah, and you're in the rightplace.
Speaker 1 (38:15):
Yeah, and like, I
must say, like I I feel sad to
be going home tomorrow and I'mI'm one of these people where
I'm kind of pretty good, I'mlike right, yeah, no, it's time
to go, like I'm, you know, I'vehad an amazing time and you know
I'm sure I will be fine, but Ifeel sad, I feel really sad.
so hopefully there'll be manymore of me sitting in this seat
(38:36):
with the, with the hollywoodsign yes, sober chapters
hollywood edition yeah, and like, maybe even I'd love to do a
retreat here because, you know, obviously I've got the ibiza one
next year, but I feel like thatcould be the start of something
and that's actually where I canimagine us doing something in
the future too, with all of youramazing gifts in that space.
Right, let's do it, yeah yeah, that would be awesome.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
It would be amazing.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
Stay tuned yeah, for
sure.
Um so where can people find you, katie?
Speaker 2 (39:08):
