What if the key to unlocking your most authentic self lies in removing alcohol and committing to deep inner work? In this episode, we explore the profound transformation that occurs when you embrace an alcohol-free life and pair it with intentional self-discovery, embodiment and healing practices.

I share my personal transformation journey of finding clarity and purpose through sobriety, highlighting how alcohol numbs emotions and disconnects us from our true selves. By removing this barrier, we create space to uncover limiting beliefs, heal emotional wounds, and reconnect with our core values.

This episode also introduces Sober Chapters 100, a 100-day transformational program designed to guide you through the process of self-discovery, healing, and growth. The program combines mindset work, emotional healing, inner child work, and embodiment practices to help you reconnect with your true essence and manifest the life you desire.

Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hello and welcome to another episode of the Sober
Chapters podcast, and today I'mdoing my first solo episode in a
very, very long time.
I feel like I haven't done onefor months.
It's been super busy withamazing guests from all over the
world and I knew I was due todo a solo episode at some point

(00:25):
because there's been so muchgoing on and so much that I want
to share with all of you, Iguess, on this path, and I
really wanted to focus today onthe benefits and the power of
doing the inner work whilstalcohol free.
I know some of my listenerssome of you may be just sober

(00:47):
curious at the moment and stilldrinking.
Others may be doing a shorterbreak, perhaps on your own sober
chapter, and others, I know, will be well into their sobriety
journey and loving beingalcohol free, and this is
relevant to all of you.
So years and years ago, when Iwas feeling very stuck, when I

(01:12):
went through the changes and Ihad my, I guess, rock bottom, as
you could call it, when the rugwas just pulled from underneath
me when I was 32.
Those of you haven't listenedto my story already, I came out
of a long-term relationship andalso my career kind of felt like
it was falling apart as well.
So both, both really bigaspects of my life, that kind of

(01:32):
changed quite suddenly, and Iguess it was the first time that
I really knowingly became quitedeeply unhappy.
I had always been prettypositive, just kind of sailed
through life, cruised throughthings, or so it fell until I
found out a lot of stuffafterwards.
There was actually a lot ofchaos, but, yeah, and this rock

(01:56):
bottom I'm so, so grateful forbecause it put me onto the path
of personal and spiritual growth.
And in 2018, I went to a TonyRobbins event and I went there
with my big sister and Iremember we were listening to
him and he was talking aboutdrilling into our values like
what, what were our values?

(02:17):
And I just remember thinking Idon't know what my values are.
There was kind of like thisblock and I really, I was really
shocked, actually, that Ididn't know this huge, important
, fundamental part of my beingabout values.
I just had no, I had no clue.

(02:38):
And he also touched onspirituality as well, which at
that point, you, I was open, butI certainly hadn't tapped into
that area at all, and so it wasa really big turning point for
me, and it was the start of mebecoming really, really curious
about life, about myself, aboutthe fact that I feel like I'd
been asleep for years, becausereally, that's right, you know,

(03:03):
I was a party girl in my teenageyears all the way through my
20s, kind of cruised through, left a lot of destruction in
lots of ways when it came torelationships and things like
that, but didn't really think itwas a major problem.
But I think one thing that Irealized at that point was that
I had really been asleep.
You know, I had not addressedmy patterns of behavior.

(03:24):
I just thought it was normal tojust, you know, not look at any
of those things.
I guess I just had a real lackof self-awareness.
That's probably the main way tosum up.
I had this huge lack ofself-awareness, and so that
event was a really pivotal partof my growth journey and I then

(03:48):
went on to become so, so curiousand I knew that I needed to
make some changes and I ended up, you know, listening to a lot
of podcasts, reading lots ofbooks, and I went on to get a
coach as well following the TonyRobbins event, and I then had
coaches and mentors for the nextfew years and I would have them

(04:12):
.
Alongside trying to balancemindful drinking, I was always
trying to avoid a hangover, butthere was always a risk of a big
night, especially, like I'vementioned to you guys before,
having been single for such along time, you know, I had no
accountability, no one to comehome to, worked in a boozy
industry in recruitment, sothere was just always this risk

(04:35):
that the night would escalateand then I would just have, like
this horrific hangover, beatmyself up.
But the biggest impact that ithad was on this coaching that I
was investing in, coaching thatI was investing in.
You know, I was investing inlots of different things.
At that point I was reallytrying to get to know myself,
really trying to understand whyI behaved the way that I did,
really trying to get a handle onmy insecurities, on my patterns

(04:58):
and just I just had thisfeeling that I was meant for so
much more and I just had no ideawhat that looked like and I was
just trying so hard to investmy money into the right things
and to get ahead and to get thisclarity and all of that.
But every single time I tried todo that alongside myself
drinking, or certainly alongsideany form of hangover.

(05:21):
I would just struggle.
My ego would just come in andblock me from really being able
to go deep with the coaching, and I remember getting
frustrated with the coaches thatI had, but I know now it was
not their fault.
It was all linked to the factthat I was pretty numb and I had

(05:42):
some pretty big shields aroundme and I wasn't able to access
the deeper parts of me.
And, for example, I would godrinking, you know, on a weekend
, and if I went drinking and hada big night on a Saturday night
, you know what it's like Monday, tuesday, I would just feel
really disconnected and numb andjust in my head and anxious and

(06:04):
just you know everything.
Every area of my life where Ifelt behind hangovers would
exacerbate that and it wouldjust fuel me with fear and fuel
me.
What I now know is it wouldwreak havoc on my nervous system
and keep my nervous system inthat state of dysregulation, and

(06:26):
so, essentially, I was justblocking myself from being able
to really go deep internally andfind those answers that I was
looking for internally and toconnect deeply with my true self
, and so so, yeah, I would have,I would have coaches on like a
Monday or a Tuesday and just notbe able to really do anything

(06:48):
in those sessions, like my egowould be fully in the driver's
seat and it would be so muchharder for me to access that
highest part of me, like my trueself.
And so this went on for yearsand years and eventually, you
know, I went all in with mysober chapter and that's where
just that true transformationhappened, where I had just got

(07:13):
to know my higher self so muchmore through all the breaks that
I had taken and I was just ableto come back to that place of
regulation, be in my heart somuch easier, be in that
beautiful ventral vagal state inthe green light when it comes
to the traffic light system ofour nervous system, when you

(07:33):
look at the polyvagal theory.
When we're in our ventral vagal, when we're in that green light
state, we're connected to ourhearts, we're connected to our
true self, our true nature, andthat's where we're able to just
do so much more with you, knowwhere we're at and understanding
our patterns and getting theanswers, and feeling in flow.

(07:54):
And that's the place that beingalcohol free enables us to get
to so much easier.
And that's where the realtransformation happens when you
do that inner work alongsidebeing alcohol free.
So I just wanted to highlightthis because I'm running my
signature group coaching programin January.

(08:15):
It starts on January the 12th,and I've had various people sign
up that are on their like adifferent journey at the moment,
different time frame when itcomes to sobriety.
Some of some of them have beenalcohol free for six months.
A few of them have been alcoholfree on and off and taking a

(08:35):
few breaks here and there, andthen a couple have actually been
alcohol free for nearly twoyears as well, and so I want to
highlight that it's for peopleto go deep with the inner work
whilst alcohol free, rather thana program so much about coming
off alcohol.
It's for people that havealready made that decision, that

(08:56):
alcohol is really holding themback and you know that it's
preventing them from beingconnected and aligned with their
higher self, and they want totake this opportunity to go all
in for 100 days in this groupenvironment with the inner work,
to really really align withtheir true self, really get to

(09:17):
know what they truly want, andI'll run through some of the
exercises that are going to bein there, but that's where the
true transformation lies.
When alcohol, social drinking, hangovers, aren't distracting
you, you're able to go much, much deeper into your
subconscious.
You're able to connect so muchmore deeply with your heart,

(09:37):
with your body, with your trueself and, instead of having the
ego in the driver's seat, evenwhen it does come in and that
fear comes in and thatdysregulation comes in, you're
able to bring yourself back toyour heart, to your body, to a
place of peace, back to yourregulating nervous system, back
to the flowy, beautiful, ventral, vagal state, which is just

(09:59):
such a beautiful place to be in.
And even when you do getdysregulated, when you're
alcohol free, like you have thatawareness and that knowledge
and that that power to be ableto bring yourself back.
So this program is going to besort of setting you up in so
many ways to be able to access, access that state as much as

(10:20):
possible throughout that 100days.
So there's going to bemindfulness trackers, for
example, to help you with yourmorning routines.
There's going to be gratitudejournaling, loads of different
journaling prompts throughout.
There's also going to be like awhole section at the beginning
on where you are now and whereyou want to be, so getting
really, really clear on whereyou are now, what areas of your

(10:44):
life are looking good, whichareas would you like to improve,
how alcohol might have beenimpacting those areas before and
how you can really takeadvantage of moving forwards
without alcohol in your life inthose particular areas.
So a real clarity piece aroundall of that and that's more kind
of like the mindset work.
And then there's going to be ahuge amount on all the emotional

(11:07):
regulation side of things andreally feeling your feelings and
really getting into your bodyand looking at all these
beautiful embodiment practicesas well and really bringing us
back to our hearts.
There's going to be a lot ofwork around really getting to
know the emotions, theuncomfortable feelings, getting
comfortable with thoseuncomfortable feelings and

(11:29):
really understanding what isbringing those feelings on and
really learning to sit withthose as well and again to gain
so much more power over those inthat process.
We're also going to be lookingat more kind of like inner child
work as well, so looking backat why you have the patterns
that you do, why you've put upthe walls and the masks that you

(11:52):
have.
You know everything.
So when we come into this life,we come into this life as like a
bundle of love.
We're just pure love as a baby.
And then everything else islearned.
Everything else is fear-based,that creates our false self, our
ego, our ego, mind, and that'sthe protective layers that go on

(12:15):
to run the show, and those arethe protective layers that
alcohol fuels.
And so it's getting to reallyknow and peel back those layers
in this program as well, so thatyou can identify the patterns
that have been created, whythey've been created, where they
link back to in terms of yourchildhood, because, as we know,

(12:37):
you know, we learn everything.
Our nervous system, our nervoussystem is where all trauma is
formed and it's also where allhealing is done as well, and it
all links back to our childhood.
I mean, it even goes backgenerations, but essentially it
all goes back to our childhoodand that's where our patterns

(12:59):
have been created from.
And so we're going to belooking at some inner child work
, inner child, inner, teenager,inner.
There's also going to be a lotof work around self-compassion
on this journey as well, becauseyou cannot beat yourself up
into healing.
You can only love yourself intohealing.
Then there's going to be a lotof stuff in terms of like what

(13:21):
is it that you truly want foryour life.
Who are you truly?
What are your like, your real, true values?
Because when you know those, you can really use those as your
north star and that's whereyou're able to make really
informed decisions about whatyou want, moving forwards, and

(13:42):
to be able to find and reallyunderstand what your core values
are.
That's where being alcohol freeis so powerful, because it
takes away all the masks and ittakes away, like, all those
layers and it really exposes youto who you truly are, without
that noise.
And that's a really powerfulplace to really go deep with the

(14:03):
inner work, through journaling, through meditation, through
mindfulness practices, throughbreath work, through
visualizations, through justbeing in the group and
discussing, like, how you'refeeling about the exercises and
what's going on.
That's how you're going toreally get to know who you truly
are, what you truly want andtherefore, what you truly want
moving forward as well.

(14:23):
There's going to be a hugeamount of self-discovery all
around your authentic code, whatyou truly stand for and what
you truly truly want for yourlife.
There's also going to be a hugeelement when it comes to
manifestation because, again,it's all completely linked and
it all comes back to being inthat ventral vagal, that ventral

(14:48):
, vagal part of your nervoussystem, because that's where
we're able to attract in andmanifest from that place of
connection, deep connection toourselves.
That flow state when you'recompletely aligned like we all
know what that feels like right, where you just feel, you feel
like nothing, nothing couldtouch you, you, no amount of

(15:10):
anything too scary.
You've got it, you've just gotit.
You're in flow state, you justcome up with beautiful solutions
.
You're much more connected tothe divine, you're much more
connected to those downloads andthat's like the place that we
all want to be right.
That's the place we want to bemore than anything, and it's
when we're in that place, that'swhen we can really set our

(15:32):
intentions for what we're tryingto attract in.
That's when we're in such abetter place to receive.
We have so much more clarity,we have so much more just
regulation in every way.
That beautiful, beautiful flowstate, flow state.
And that's where you knowremoving alcohol and not having

(15:53):
that as a part of your life, that really increases again our
ability to come back to thatplace and to manifest and
attract in abundance in justsuch a an accelerated way.
It's huge and so there's goingto be a lot of work around that
and really about how, like thenervous system just is
fundamental in that wholeprocess, and how we can really
start to increase the emotionalfitness of our nervous system.

(16:16):
So you know, we're humans,we're always going to.
Fear is going to come in, ourego is going to come in,
dysregulation is going to comein, we're all going to get
activated, we're all going toget triggered.
Right, that's going to happen.
But it's creating the spacebetween how that happens, like
when that happens, and thereaction and what we do in that
moment.

(16:37):
Creating that space through agreater connection to ourself,
greater connection to earth, tonature, and a great greater
connection to our higher power, whatever that looks like for you
.
So really creating space inbetween the, the activation and
the reaction.
And again, that's the beauty, when we're alcohol free we have

(16:58):
so much more awareness of what'sgoing on and being able to
really link that back andunderstand where that's coming
from and why we are activated.
But it also gives us so muchmore power not to react in that
moment because, again, alcoholused to affect our prefrontal
cortex, right, so our rationaldecision making part of the
brain, and so if we're activatedin that moment, of course,

(17:20):
we're not going to have thecapacity to make the best
decision in that moment, and ourreaction time is going to be
quicker and sharper, and that'swhy people do things and say
things that aren't reallyaligned with who they truly are.
And so, by removing alcohol, you create that space, and then,
when you do the inner work aswell, you get more and more
awareness to be able to createeven more space.

(17:42):
So there's going to be huge, huge topics around that, a
couple of modules all aroundthat sort of thing as well, and
then we're going to be reallylooking at what you want for
your future, all thevisualization exercises with
everything that you've learned.
What is it that you really wantfor your life going forward?
What is it now that you'realcohol free?

(18:03):
What is it that you truly, youtruly dream about?
Because that's the excitingpart right when we're alcohol
free and we've got all thatcertainty within us, the sky is
the limit.
We have so much more power.
We have so much more energy andmore time, more consistency,
everything, and it's just such agreat place to set up what it

(18:26):
is you're looking for for yourlife going forward, to really
discover that deeper purposewithin you and get the
confidence to step into thatversion of you as well for the
rest of 2025.
So I hope this has given muchmore of an overview of what to
expect in that Sober Chapters100 program, because I know a

(18:47):
