Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Sonic Hitchhiker podcast dedicated to
all things strange, mysteriousand just plain out of the
ordinary.
Your guide on this audioodyssey is Billy Shadow.
Billy's travels and experienceshave led him to witness
exorcisms, cult mind controlevents, ghosts and other
supernatural phenomena.
It is because of his interestin these experiences that this

(00:23):
podcast was created.
And now your host, billy Shadow.

Speaker 2 (00:29):
Welcome into the season premiere and the very
first edition of the SonicHitchhiker podcast.
I am David Fine.
Normally you hear me behind thescenes, I push all the buttons,
but today is a very specialtime to introduce a great
musician, a great person and aman who's going to have a lot of
stories.
I've gotten a lot of questionson social media at the Sonic
Hitchhiker Podcast on Instagram.

(00:51):
Personally, people have askedme in passing what is the Sonic
Hitchhiker Podcast about?
And the man that can tell youeverything about the podcast is
the one the only Billy Shadow.
Mr Shadow, welcome into yourpodcast.
And have you gotten a lot ofquestions?
I've gotten a lot of questionsjust in general and I've kind of
briefly told them what I thinkthe show is going to be about.

(01:12):
But kind of give yourbackground I know it's about
psychics, preachers, ghosthunters, you name it.
We're going to talk about itKind of give the public just a
little deep dive into yourbackground and what the show is
going to be about each and everyweek.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Well, I also have had a lot of questions on what the
podcast is going to be about, even though we do have it out
there, a brief summary of whatit will be about, if you've
listened to the introduction.
However, that is a goodquestion.
I would say a little bit ofeverything is what I hope this
podcast will be about, but notjust anything.
I mean a lot of things rolledup into things that are unusual,

(01:51):
mysterious, maybe questionableAnything from UFOs to ghost
hunters, from preachers toatheists.
I love anything that isdifferent and not according to
the norm.
That's what interests me.
I don't like boring, and I findall of these subjects that we
hopefully will be talking aboutquite a bit and we will not, so

(02:14):
boring and, as a matter of fact, very interesting for people
like me.
So, if you like those type oftopics, things that make you
think, things that make youwonder what else is out there
that we don't know about, orwhat is here on this planet of
ours that we don't know about, and people in general, there are
a lot of people walking aroundthat we see every day, that we
have no idea what their story is.
I love talking to, for instance, homeless people.

(02:36):
I love.
Sometimes I'll just sit downand talk to one homeless one,
like they're not people.
I'll sit down and talk to ahomeless person and a lot of
times you'll find out thisperson is super intelligent,
super smart.
They're out here maybe not forthe reasons we think they are,
and sometimes you will get veryinteresting stories.
So there are a lot ofinteresting people out there,
not just homeless people.
I'm not meaning to pick onhomeless people.

(02:58):
There are a lot of people Italk to.
That just interest me and youask about my background.
You ask about what type of lifeI've had, or you alluded to
that, and I am blessed to havehad quite an interest in life.
I grew up with a religiousbackground.
My parents I'm one of ninechildren we were forced, is the

(03:19):
word, because you didn't reallyhave a choice to go to church.
Quite often we were forced toread the Bible most every day.
So I've read the Bible throughand through many times Again,
not that I had a choice, butwhen I got older and kind of got
on my own and out of thereligious movement, I studied

(03:40):
the Bible for myself and I founda lot of interesting things in
there that I had never seenbefore, including since I'm very
interested and always have been, in ghosts, ufos, the
paranormal.
I find a lot of that in theBible, that people that they
just overlook and they justdon't want to discuss those
subjects.
That seem a little too odd.
Now, one purpose of thispodcast or one particular theme

(04:04):
of the podcast for instance,we'll have maybe two podcasts
where I will talk to a preacherwho knows his Bible and ask him
things and I'm giving an exampleof maybe one of the shows that
hopefully we'll get to and say, look, do religious people
believe in UFOs, do religiouspeople believe in the paranormal
?
And if they were to say, no, Iknow my Bible enough to go and

(04:24):
say, well, what about this?
What about that Kind of picktheir mind on that and get there
, and I think that would be avery interesting conversation.
I myself, as a kid, experiencedI've only had one experience
with ghosts.
I've had one when I was I wantto say I was 10 years old, at
nine or 10.
And this this may explain towhy I'm so interested, because

(04:44):
I've never been able to explainthis particular thing to happen
to me.
I used to stay at mygrandmother's house.
We did me and my siblings.
My mom would my dad was woulddrop us off at my grandmother's
house in Chattanooga, tennessee.
She lived in a really old house.
Don't really know if that hasanything to do with what
happened or not, but one nightparticularly and she was a very
religious woman and believed indemons and believed in spirits

(05:07):
not necessarily ghosts but onenight I was watching TV with my
grandfather, who went to bed andleft me on the couch in this
big living room of this oldhouse.
I remember sometime early inthe morning it may have been 2
or 3 o'clock in the morning, notreally sure now it's so long
ago but I'll never forgetbecoming really cold.

(05:28):
I was laying there on the couchand just had a blanket on me.
Someone had been kind enough toput a blanket on top of me, but
I was really cold and unusuallycold, because it wasn't winter,
it was the summer.
And I woke up and sat up on thecouch and looked don't know
what made me look to the frontdoor and there were three people
standing there, all white, notlike, not like the typical ghost

(05:49):
you see in movies.
They were dressed in clothes, but they were all white and all
three, and I wanted to this day.
I'm not sure if it was threemen, if it was a woman and two,
I have no idea, but I just knowit was three people.
When you see something out offear, you don't necessarily look
at detail so much, you're juststruck with fear.
But I remember seeing thosethree at the front door.

(06:10):
I sat up on the couch and sawthem and my first instinct was
to close my eyes and lay backdown, put the covers over my
head which I did, hoping that itwas a dream, to the point to
where I started pinching myselfjust to make sure it was a dream
, which that's almostinstinctual, I believe.
When you have a nightmare, youwant to wake up from it.
But I remember laying theredoing that, realizing that, no,

(06:33):
I am awake.
I sat up because my curiositygot the best of me.
I had to know that this was myimagination, that it was not
real.
So I set up, looked toward thefront door.
Not only were they still there, they were about halfway closer.
That must have been reallyscary.
Oh, now, as cold as I was, Istart sweating Cold sweats, I

(06:55):
think they call it and I'mshaking and I can't speak.
I want to scream for mygrandmother and I can't speak.
I want to scream for mygrandmother and I can't do
anything.
I'm frozen.
Anyone that's ever been in asituation like that whether it's
with something they can'texplain, or a dog or anything
that they know they're possiblyin danger sometimes you freeze,
there's flight or fight.
Well, I couldn't move, I justwatched them.

(07:17):
When I finally got the nerve tolay back down, which I did, I
rolled up, I curl up in a ball, rolled, and I was sweating.
At this point I was on theverge of crying.
I wasn't crying, but I was onthe verge of it, couldn't say
anything.
My mouth was dry, cotton mouthbad.
Rolled up, put the covers backover my head, laid there.
I don't know how long I laidthere, but eventually again, you

(07:38):
can't just lay there forever.
So I decided to take the coversoff and look.
When I looked, this time theywere right there at the couch
and where, their handsoutstretched, all three of these
beings.
Well, I, finally the voice thatwas in my, that was that was in
me that wanted to come out andscream for my grandmother
finally came out.
It just broke loose and sheruns in turns the light on.

(08:00):
They disappear From that day onat her house, I couldn't sleep
with the lights off because Iknew there was, something, had
been in there and I couldn'tsleep with it.
Now, whether or not they wereghosts, spirits, angels, I'm not
sure Because, again, there area lot of things that we can
explain and not everyone seesany something like this.
People go through their wholelife without having an unusual

(08:21):
event like that, but I've had afew, and that's one of them, and
that's always stuck with me andI've always wondered what that
was, what that meant.
So I do believe in somethingelse out there and I have not
just from a religious aspectwhich we were taught that
there's a heaven, there's helland there's angels, there's a
devil was taught that from ayouth.
Now there are other religionsthat teach similar things, which

(08:44):
I'm not opposed to.
I consider myself Christian, but I have a very open mind
because, just like I believeabout life here on this planet,
for us to think there'sabsolutely nothing else out
there is very egotistical of usmaybe.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Yeah, I mean, there's definitely some other life on
other planets.
And when we were talkingearlier you know talking about
the podcast and what you wantedto do you kind of threw out the
name Art Bell.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Yes, I love Art Bell.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
That is a great comparison, coast to coast,
coast to coast.

Speaker 3 (09:15):
It would be an honor if I even were to come close to
the no pun intended shadow ofsomeone like that, because to me
he was never afraid to dealwith anything odd or out of the
ordinary, but he never listenedto people and made fun of them.
That was something that I foundvery interesting, even though
you knew for sure that a lot ofpeople he talked to he talked to

(09:36):
a vampire one time.
That was really serious, thatthat's who they were, and he
didn't make fun of them.
He didn't say, oh that's, youknow, that's BS.
He said what makes you thinkthat and the explanation he
would get would be so over thetop, but yet he would continue.
And that's one thing I likedabout him.
He was very open minded but atthe same time entertaining, was

(09:57):
very open-minded but at the sametime entertaining.
Those shows helped me many anight when I was traveling for
work and would listen to thatcoast-to-coast AM and he died
not I want to say maybe 10 yearsago Big smoker, I believe he
was, and it may have been lungcancer or a heart attack, I
can't remember, but anyway, yeah, one of my heroes in radio for
sure was Art Bell.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
I mean, he was definitely a different type of
me.
But if you could be compared toArt Bell, I'm not sure if our
listeners of the show may notknow who Art Bell is.
Just folks, if you're listeningright now, click the subscribe
button, because this is going todefinitely be an interesting
show, and look up Art Bell.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Just to give you a preview our first two guests
hopefully everything seems to belining up that way.
The first two guests Hopefullyeverything seems to be lining up
that way.
One of the first two gueststhat we will have on the on the
next show is one of them issomeone who has experienced the
supernatural in her home and, asa matter of fact, they had an
investigator come in and checkit out.
A ghost hunter came in.

(10:57):
There were some very eeriethings going on in her home.
We will be talking to peoplelike that.
After that podcast, we'll havea preacher on.
So you can see the contrast.
But when I say we're having apreacher on, I'm sure that many
people listening will be like Idon't want to hear any more of
that churchy stuff.
No, no, no.
The idea of having someone likethat on is to dig into their
mind, their religious mind, andfind out what they think about.

(11:21):
Haven't you ever wanted to aska preacher what do you think
about UFOs?
What do you think about ghosts?
What do you think about theparanormal?
What do you think aboutreincarnation?
As I say, this Preacher will beof the Christian faith.
However, I'm willing to talk toall religions.
I'm willing to talk to atheists.
I would love to have an atheistand a religious person on to
compare notes.

(11:41):
I'm very open-minded, verywilling to hear what anyone has
to say on any subject.
There's a lot that I don't know, but I'm curious about and very
open-minded about, so this isgoing to be a fun ride.
I'm really looking forward tofuture episodes, not only
hopefully will it beentertaining for the people
listening, for the audience, butselfishly I've always wanted to

(12:04):
talk to people like this and Ifeel like having this podcast
will give me a good reason totalk to these people and to
search them out.
The biggest part is searchingthem out and I hope that for a
while they'll come to us.
I would also like to say that ifany of you listening as the
audience grows, if you have astory of your own, if you know
someone who has a story, anunusual story or an unusual

(12:26):
person that you may know, in thecomment section obviously don't
put your personal number or anyof that, but we will have a way
to get in touch with us on thepodcast.
If you have anyone that youwould like to bring on to the
show or that you would recommendto have on the show, or you
yourself may want to be on.

(12:47):
We can do it Zoom Skype, possibly over the telephone.
I prefer video, not that thispodcast will be video.
However, it's nice when you cansee the person face to face and
talk to them, and there's a lotin facial expressions, too,
that allow you to ask the nextquestion.
That's very important.
That's also going to be a bigpart of this show is you guys

(13:11):
recommending people giving usyour stories, possibly even
being on the podcast yourself?
So I'm looking forward to thattoo.
Hopefully we'll get a lot ofresponse to that.
This is going to be a fun show, guys.
It's going to be a lot ofinteresting topics, and if
you're into this stuff, like Iam, that we've been talking
about, I think you'll reallyenjoy it, and I hope you will.
