(00:10):
Hi welcome to the Soul Journey Podcast.
I'm glad you are here. This podcast will take you on a
journey, my soul journey, from alife of chaos and despair to a
faith filled life I love. Each episode is infused with
Christian songs, scripture, prayers, and personal stories.

(00:32):
My hope is that this podcast will inspire you, encourage you,
but most importantly, it will point you to the one who can
truly help and guide you. I believe you were meant to be
here. Hi, welcome back to the Soul

(00:55):
Journey podcast, where we explore the depths of
spirituality, faith, and personal growth.
This is episode 31, and I'm yourhost, Sherry Lynn.
I'm so glad you're here. Before we begin, let's just take
a few minutes to center ourselves.
So go ahead and just let your shoulders drop.

(01:16):
Unclench your jaw, release the tension between your eyebrows,
relax your fists, take a deep breath into your belly and
exhale. Go ahead and turn up the corners
of your mouth. Feels good to smile.
If you have an essential oil, this is a great time to rub it

(01:39):
between the palms of your hands and inhale it in.
Essential oils are a great way to enhance our prayer time.
Today I'm using a Young Living oil blend called Clarity and you
will see why I chose this blend in just a moment.
So now that we have centered ourselves, we are going to do a

(02:03):
prayer from the beautiful book Breath This prayer.
You can find the link to this book in the show notes.
So on our inhale, you're going to say, Lord, you are near.
And on the exhale to all who call on you, I suggested let's
do this four times. Ready.

(02:25):
Inhale, Lord, you are near. Exhale to all who call on you.
Inhale, Lord, you are near. Exhale to all who call on you.
Inhale, Lord, you are near. Exhale to all who call on you

(02:50):
and our last one. Inhale, Lord, you are near.
Exhale to all who call on you. Breathe deep and know that God
is near when you call on him. For this passage I chose or.

(03:10):
For this episode I chose the passage from Proverbs 3/5
through six. Trust in the Lord with all your
heart and lean not on your own understanding and all your ways.
Submit to him and he will make your path straight.
So I am excited to dive into this episode.

(03:36):
It is about the art of decision making.
Oh, now you see why I chose clarity, right?
That was a great oil. Whether it's a significant life
choice or a simple everyday decision, we all face moments
where we must choose a path. How can we make decisions with

(03:58):
confidence and align them with our faith?
That's what we're going to explore today.
But before we dive in, I want totake this moment to remind you
to please subscribe to the podcast Leave me a review.
That would be great because yourfeedback and support mean the
world to me, and it helps othersfind me and join our soulful

(04:21):
community. OK, here we go.
Making decisions can sometimes feel overwhelming, but our faith
can serve as a guiding light. It grounds us providing wisdom,
comfort, and direction. Let's turn to the Bible to find

(04:41):
some verses that shed light on the role of faith in decision
making. The first passage that comes to
mind that I had just read to youis Proverbs 3/5 through six.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own
understanding and all your ways.Submit to Him and He will make
your path straight now. This verse reminds us to trust

(05:05):
in God's wisdom and guidance, allowing our faith to influence
our decisions. Another powerful verse is 32
Psalms 32. Eight.
I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go.
I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.

(05:28):
Here God promises to be our guide, providing counsel and
instruction in our journey of decision making.
Isn't that great? Yeah, when facing tough choices,
we can find strength in Philippians for six through 7.
Do not be anxious about anythingbut in every situation, by

(05:51):
prayer and petition with Thanksgiving, present your
request to God and the peace of God which transcends all
understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ
Jesus. Through prayer and Thanksgiving,
we can find peace in the midst of uncertainty.

(06:12):
Isn't that a great promise? Well, now that we've anchored
ourselves in faith, let's discuss some other practical
steps to make decisions confidently.
I've compiled A5 step process that can help us navigate
through the decision making process.
So step one, define your options.

(06:35):
Clearly identify the choices before you write them down, and
consider the potential outcomes of each option #2.
Seek wisdom as we've learned from the Bible.
Seek guidance from guidance fromGod through prayer and
meditation. Seek counsel from wise and

(06:55):
trusted individuals who can offer valuable insights.
I don't know where I would be without my friends and all their
great advice. Step 3.
Weigh the pros and cons. Evaluate the advantages and the
disadvantages of each option. Consider how they align with

(07:17):
your values, your goals, and your faith.
Step 4 Listen to your intuition.Sometimes our hearts and our
inner wisdom can nudge us in theright direction.
Pay attention to your instincts and feelings during this
process. Step 5 Take action.

(07:40):
Make the decision based on the information and guidance you've
gathered. Trust in your faith and know
that whatever the outcome, it's part of your soul journey.
Well, maybe you're wondering where this podcast idea came
from. Well, let me tell you, I

(08:01):
recently had to make a very big decision, and that's what
prompted me to talk about it on this podcast.
And I used all those five steps and I was really, really
faithful and listening to God and got a lot of information and

(08:21):
help from friends as well. So my decision was or my my
situation was I needed to decidewhether or not to come out of
retirement and go back to teaching.
Now, honestly, I've been prayingabout a couple of things that

(08:41):
were really on my heart, and I've been really deeply praying,
like on my knees praying about certain things.
And then out of the blue, my former principal texted me and
asked me to please consider coming back for a unique
opportunity that he thought I would be excellent for.

(09:04):
So my husband and I prayed aboutit and we really had some quiet
time with God and follow the steps that I talked about
earlier, and it just felt right.I just felt that God was
bringing me into this situation. And I went back and forth about

(09:25):
it for a couple of days. But then I ultimately decided
that I would go back to teaching.
And I'm thinking that it's just for this year.
It's a special program where I'mjust teaching science all day,
which I love. And let me tell you, I don't
know if I can say this without crying, but it is been such a

(09:48):
blessing to go back. I didn't think I would love it
as much as I do and I have to drive an hour there and an hour
back. But it has been a delight that
the drive is wonderful. I get to listen to my
audiobooks, other podcasts that I love my life, mentoring school

(10:09):
that my coaching calls. It's it's just glorious.
I am having the best time. I feel so close to God.
I'm listening to my Christian songs.
I get to see these children and just look at their faces.
And hopefully teach them really, really well.
That's my hope. But it's been such a delight, a

(10:30):
real true delight to go back to this school.
So I just hope that you know that making decisions can be
hard. Making decisions don't always go
the way we plan, but sometimes they go even better than we

(10:53):
planned. But before I wrap up today's
episode, you know I have to reference a song and I want to
share an uplifting Christian song that perfectly compliments
our topic on making decisions with faith.
This week's song is the song first by Lauren Daigle.
This is an older song of hers. I think it's one of her first

(11:13):
songs actually, And 1st is a beautiful reminder of the
importance of seeking God above all else in our journey of
decision making. It's crucial to approach every
choice by first seeking him, aligning our hearts with his
will. The lyrics Before I bring my

(11:34):
need, I will bring my heart and seek you first.
Remember, this reminds us to prioritize our relationship with
God over everything else. Listening to this song can be
incredibly encouraging. During moments of uncertainty
and doubt. It reminds us to.

(11:54):
Find God in every season and every moment of our lives.
By seeking Him first, we gain clarity and peace as we face
life's decisions, both big and small.
And as the song goes, you are mytreasure and my reward.
Let nothing ever come before I seek you first.

(12:17):
And when God is at the center ofour decision making process, we
can rest assure that we are on the right path, guided by His
infinite wisdom and love. So friends, I invite you to take
a few moments after this episodeto listen to 1st by Lauren
Daigle and let the lyrics and soul stirring melody remind you

(12:40):
to seek God first and all that you do, especially in the
decisions that lie ahead. Remember, you can find this song
and all the other songs that I referenced on my Spotify
playlist called Soul Journey Podcast Playlist.
Thank you for joining me as we explore the significance of

(13:00):
faith and making decisions. Remember, you are not alone on
this journey and your faith willbe your constant companion
friends. Decision making is a skill that
grows with practice. It's okay to make mistakes.
They are opportunities for learning and growth.
Embrace your journey knowing that your faith will guide you

(13:22):
even in uncertain times. As always, I hope you will
connect with me on social media.I'd love to hear your thoughts
on today's topic and any suggestions for future episodes.
Until next time, keep seeking God first in every aspect of
your life and may His presence fill your heart with peace and

(13:44):
joy. I hope you found these insights
helpful as you navigate your decision making process.
I hope you will also share it with any friends and family.
So thank you for tuning in and may your souls be filled with
peace and light. Let's conclude this episode with

(14:10):
a prayer, Dear Heavenly Father, as we gather here today, I lift
up each and every listener of the Soul Journey Podcast.
Into your loving presence. You are the source of all wisdom
and understanding, and I pray that as they navigate through

(14:31):
the decisions in their lives, they may seek you first above
all else. Guide their hearts, Lord, and
grant them clarity and discernment and every choice
they make. May they find comfort in knowing
that you are always with them, leading them on the right path.
Help them to trust in your plan, even when uncertainty looms, and

(14:56):
remind them that your ways are higher than ours.
Let your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard their
hearts and minds as they surrender their decisions to
you. May this episode be a source of
inspiration and encouragement for all who listen.

(15:16):
May it strengthen their faith and remind them of your
unfailing love and guidance. In the name of your son, Christ
Jesus, we pray. Amen.
Thank you again for tuning in, and if you have not yet brought
Jesus into your heart, you may continue to listen to a

(15:39):
salvation prayer until next time, remember that you are
loved you. Are enough
friends. God has put this on my heart if

(16:02):
you're listening today to this episode.
And you have not received Jesus into your heart, then let me.
Help you and guide you to welcome him into your life.
You just need to say these wordsout loud.
And believe them with. All your heart and and it's just
between you and our Lord. So say these words.

(16:25):
Dear Heavenly Father, I come before you in humility
recognizing my need for a Savior.
Your word. Says in Romans 323.
All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
I acknowledge that I am a Sinnerand that I need your

(16:46):
forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ
your. Son died on the cross for my
sins, as stated in Romans 5/8 a God demonstrates.
His own love for us. In this, while we were still
sinners, Christ died for us. I believe that Jesus's
sacrifice. Was enough to pay the penalty

(17:08):
for my sins. I pray and ask Jesus to come
into my heart and be Lord. Over my life according to Romans
10910. If thou shalt confess with thy
mouth the Lord. Jesus and shall believe in thine

(17:28):
heart that God hath raised. Him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved. I confess this with my mouth
that Jesus is Lord. And I believe in my heart that
you raised. Him from the dead I acknowledge
Jesus as my Lord and Savior, andI surrender my life to Him.

(17:51):
In Ephesians 289 it is written or it is by grace.
You have been saved through faith.
And this is not. From yourselves it is the gift
of God, not by works. So that no one can boast, I
understand that my salvation is a gift from you.

(18:12):
That's something I can earn or achieve on my own.
I ask for your. Forgiveness, Lord, and I invite
Jesus to come into my life and be the center of my being.
I want to follow him. And live according to his will.
Please fill me with your Holy Spirit as promised in Acts 238.

(18:34):
Repent and be baptized every. One of you in the name of Jesus
Christ. For the forgiveness of your sins
and you will receive the gift ofthe Holy Spirit.
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for the gift of.
Salvation through Jesus Christ I.
Commit my life to you. And trust you will guide me and
transform me from the inside out.

(18:56):
In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Thank you friends. Remember, the prayer itself is
not what saves a person, but rather.
The faith in Jesus Christ and the work He accomplished on the
cross. It is the.
Beginning of a personal. Relationship with God and It is
important to continue seeking Him, studying His Word and

(19:20):
growing in faith. If you said this prayer for the
first time, I would love for youto reach out.
So I can guide you with some resources.
Be blessed, my friends.
