Carrie Lingenfelter (00:00):
When we go
back to the spiritual piece.
One thing that I have reallypicked up on in the last few
months is energy work andunderstanding this idea that our
children are a reflection ofthe emotions we are putting out
ourselves.
An example is the other night.
I was exhausted and tired andwe were getting over a cold
(00:23):
which we have had for like twoweeks.
Thank you universe for helpingus learn to slow down.
Exhausted and tired and we weregetting over a cold which we
have had for like two weeks, thank you universe for helping
us learn to slow down.
And I was getting a littlefrustrated with my kiddo, who
did not want to brush her teeth, and so I started to get
frustrated, frustrated, guesswhat she started doing back,
frustrated, frustrated.
The more I got frustrated, themore she came back at it.
Right, it can be so hard inthat moment to calm our body
(00:46):
down because in my mind, my mind, has these red flags beep, beep
, beep.
They're going off in my head.
Hi Conscious Parents.
It's Keri here and I am herewith a little info about raising
our mindful kids.
I've got some tips and tricksabout breaking free of the box
and becoming who you are andteaching your kids how to do
that along the way.
Join us, hey conscious parents.
(01:08):
Today we're going to talk aboutbeing a spiritual parent and
what that looks like and raisingour kids in a spiritual way.
So we're really embracing itaround here at Heart to Heart
Parents, and it's kind of almosta little bit of a rebrand and
we're really embracing it as wesee that parents really are
asking for these opportunitiesin their worlds.
(01:28):
I was recently doing a speakingevent with some other amazing
people and it was so fun toconnect with so many conscious
parents and I realized that somuch of what parenting looks
like for me is energy work, inner pieces as a parent working
on myself, and then innerpieces of my kids and then
(01:51):
connection between the two of us, right?
So when we're talking, there'sthe mindfulness piece.
Really, there's so much onlineabout that nowadays, right, you
can Google it, you can find appsfor it, there's books for it.
There's guided meditations.
There's guided meditations.
There's all this mindful pieces.
Teaching our kids these mindfultools when they're young is so
(02:12):
beneficial for them.
Imagine where they'll be whenthey're 40 years old as well.
Right?
Things that we've had toreadjust.
Come back to ourselves.
Probably we didn't maintain inour 20s.
Maybe if we grew up with itlike myself, those are pieces
that we can really help our kidswith.
So the mindset pieces aresomething that are so important.
And then there's the peacefulparenting, these, these
(02:33):
connected pieces of seeing ourchildren for who they are,
loving them for who they are,but then also the challenges
that they have with them, supporting them and seeing them
where they're at.
And then hearing your ownintuition to know which things
you can jump on the bandwagonwith and which things you need
to throw out, because there's somuch information about
(02:55):
parenting out there that it canbe easy to want to do all of it,
which can also cause anxietyfor us mamas and dads.
So, being conscious about whatis important in your house, what
is going to align with youyourself, your husband, your
partner, your wife, your kids, your dog I don't know, maybe it
goes with the dog, your fish, but really thinking about what
(03:18):
is in alignment with your houseand what you feel like really
resonates with you being in tunewith that and then also with
that.
One other key thing I love totalk about is, yes, boundaries.
Boundaries are part of thepuzzle too, right, we can have
this connection with our kidsand then also have boundaries
with it, and when I have thatstrong connection with my kids.
(03:40):
When I need to bring in thoseboundaries, I can do it in a
loving way and a connected wayand that is going to keep that
connection flowing with my kids.
When I need to bring in thoseboundaries, I can do it in a
loving way and a connected wayand that is going to keep that
connection flowing with my kids.
That is going to reallyresonate.
I actually like the phrase.
I use it with my 10-year-oldbecause he's now at the age
where he's questioning rightEven my 7-year-old questions too
, now Raising those consciouskids too, right?
(04:01):
So I love to use the term I'mhere to support you.
I am here to parent you andnurture you and connect with you
.
Part of my job is challengingyou and part of my job is
bringing you up to the nextlevel of yourself, and so part
of that sometimes can look likethings that are more challenging
for your body, for your heart, and I might have to do some of
(04:23):
these challenges with you, butI'm going to support you and I'm
still going to be here and hearwhen you're feeling frustrated
by that.
Another thing that I wanted totalk about was the spiritual
piece, right.
What does that mean.
Well, I like to break it downand give you some of these bonus
episodes that have some ofthese energy work pieces guided
(04:44):
meditation with energy work.
It was really interesting.
The other day my husband and Iwere talking about guided
meditations because when wefirst started our adventure and
meditating it was about 11 yearsago now, when I was pregnant
with my son.
We were really in it.
We knew that we had to reallyfocus on meditation and
(05:06):
developing our meditation skills.
And it was really cool becausewe had some book I can't
remember.
It was like seven steps to ameditation and it was neat
because each step was adifferent idea of how to
meditate.
They didn't have the guidedmeditation apps back then, 11
years ago, even that short termago ago, we didn't have it and
it was kind of cool because wehad to learn how to meditate on
(05:28):
our own and we were goingthrough these steps of how to do
it on our own without havingthe guide.
The guide is cool, but alsoDoing it without the guide is
going to teach you how to sitwith your thoughts.
It's going to teach you how torelease your thoughts when
you're sitting.
It's going to teach you thingsthat you don't necessarily learn
with the guides, right?
(05:49):
So I actually challenge youguys to try meditating as a
parent, by yourself.
You can do a bathroommeditation if you need it,
parents, a car meditation, ameeting space meditation at work
.
If you get like a five minutebreak and can run into a meeting
room, there you go.
But try to sit alone with yourthoughts and release those
(06:10):
thoughts alone, with your mind, body, spirit, connection, to be
present and conscious and aware, instead of just being guided
along in this path.
Right, being guided along it'salmost I would describe it
almost like almost, maybewatching TV or watching a how to
on YouTube.
(06:31):
Right, you're following alongon the path, but you're not
actively.
Maybe trying it sometime.
Well, I guess you're activelytrying it, but it's just a
little.
I think it's a step up whenyou're trying it without the
guide too, and then also havingyour kids try that with you as
well.
When we go back to the spiritualpiece, one thing that I have
really picked up on in the lastfew months is energy work and
(06:53):
understanding this idea that ourchildren are a reflection of
the emotions we are giving, areputting out ourselves.
An example is the other night.
I was exhausted and tired andwe were getting over a cold
which we have had for like twoweeks.
Thank you, universe, forhelping us learn to slow down.
And I was getting a littlefrustrated with my kiddo who did
(07:15):
not want to brush her teeth, and so I started to get
frustrated, frustrated, guesswhat she started doing, back
Frustrated, frustrated.
And so I started to getfrustrated, frustrated, guess
what she started doing, backFrustrated, frustrated.
The more I got frustrated, themore she came back at it.
Right, it can be so hard in thatmoment to calm our body down
because in my mind, my mind, hasthese red flags beep, beep,
(07:35):
beep.
They're going off in my head.
Why isn't this kid brushing herteeth?
Why does she keep pushing mybuttons?
Why can't she listen to me?
Does she do this at school?
Is she going to become adelinquent?
Is she going to never get a job?
You know it's like you go downthe road and so think about that
energetically.
She's feeling that pressure, she's feeling that intensity.
(07:56):
So, luckily, my husband waslike hey, go wash the dishes.
If you want for a second, I cantake over.
And he came in with a grounded, calm, energy and that reflected
back on our kiddo.
He sat down with her, playedwith her, calmed her down for a
few minutes and then she wentand brushed her teeth.
Now, if you think I would havestayed in that room and been
(08:17):
going and going and I'm the momand you need to listen and I
kept, you know, right, the ego,the anger, the fear, all these
pieces come up.
It's just going to keep cyclingand it can get worse and worse,
especially on a sensitive kidat the end of the day, when
they're feeling getting overwhatever illness we've had.
Think of all those pressureswe're putting on that kid's
system.
(08:38):
That's something to think aboutwith.
The energy work is thereflection of us and showing
what also we may need to work onin ourselves as well.
Right, there's that inner childpiece of why do I feel like I
need to control?
Why did I get so worked upabout this?
Why did I let that fear controlme and come in and snowball in
(08:58):
my brain?
There's some inner work to workon too.
So that's what I talk aboutwhen I'm thinking about the
spirituality and the energy work, also teaching our kids about
energy, how everything is madeup of energy.
I'm energy, you're energy, theplants are energy, the sun has
energy.
Right, all these pieces, theearth, has its own vibrational
(09:19):
energy.
Everything is made up of energyand so if there's this idea,
right, like the string effect,if somebody over here is feeling
something or moving the string, somebody over here feels the
string right, feels the stringmoves, picks up on it.
So there's that idea and thatis so cool that you can teach
that to your kids and we canteach them to notice.
Using the mind-body-spiritconnections.
(09:41):
We can teach them to notice theenergy in a space, the energy
that mom or dad feels, brotheror sister feels, friends feel.
That's a big one at school, right, understanding that energy
, we can do energy protectionideas.
I love doing the white lightspiraling around us, golden
light spiraling around us, rootsgrowing into the ground.
(10:03):
And then we say a little mantrapositive energy only, no
negative energy allowed.
And so it is.
It's so important that we teachour kids actively about energy
and I love to keep doing thesebonus episodes where I can go
into it more.
I'm just wanting to give alittle quick introduction for
those who are new here.
With Heart to Heart Parents,we've had a huge amount of
(10:23):
following and it's really coolto see so many amazing people.
Thank you so much for listeninglisteners and I wanted to go
back and just kind of go throughsome of these pieces of what
we've been seeing.
So in this spirituality piecewe have the mindset too.
We've talked about that, right.
Right, we've talked about maybeyou want to learn more about
the law of attraction.
I love abraham hicks.
(10:44):
Law of attraction is great.
If you're looking for anything, there's so many resources on
youtube.
With that comes the idea of theenergy that we put out is the
energy we're going to receive.
So being conscious of that as aparent, right, and it kind of
was reflected with my kiddo whenwe were wanting to brush our
teeth huh, the energy I'mputting out, energy I receive,
and you can think about it inbigger pictures that is so, so
(11:08):
important to teach your kids themagnetic energy.
I love talking about that, changing our mindset from the
negative of what we don't wantto see to the positive of what
we do want.
To see those go under themindful pieces and then
acknowledging our thoughts andour behaviors and patterns.
That to see those go under themindful pieces and then
acknowledging our thoughts andour behaviors and patterns, that
we see those are so important.
Naming it to tame it.
(11:29):
I love Dr Dan Siegel, name itto tame it.
It's great the whole brainchild.
So actively helping your childto name their emotions, their
behaviors, what is going on, thechallenges and bringing them
back down.
You can tailor that with aspiritual piece of helping them
stomp the energy out.
(11:49):
You can bring in solfeggiofrequencies on YouTube.
There's different chakras, there's all seven chakras so you
could put in solfeggiofrequency, heart chakra and it
brings in if you were feelingsad that could bring in to help
reset the heart.
I've actually been doing theseevery morning and now that I've
done all seven, the kids willsay I want red today, mom.
(12:11):
Or like if we're all feelingreally in our heads and we're
all getting emotional, I reallylove doing the red root chakra.
That's a great one.
So this is just a really quickbonus episode rundown, catch-up
for those who are just startingto get started with us.
I wanted to just give a littlebackground information and kind
of connect everything together.
One thing I would love for youto think about as you're going
(12:34):
on your parenting journey is anytime that you introduce
something into your day withyour kiddo, into your life, if
you're reading a parenting book,if you're listening to this
podcast, any podcast and you'rewanting to add something in, do
it slowly, do it intentionallyand do it with connection,
because when we're connectingwith our kids, connecting with
(12:55):
ourselves, connecting with ourpartner, connecting with our
dogs, we can feel the energy.
We can feel what our kids areneeding, what we're needing in
our hearts, what anybody isneeding in that moment.
Thanks for listening.
