Carrie Lingenfelter (00:00):
Sometimes
life does get hard and if you
feel like it's the right thingfor you, you continue to try to
put the energy toward it.
But sometimes there's also theshift in energy in the house
where I've realized like my kidsare going through sensitive
periods.
They're going through growthspurts right now and their
bodies are changing quickly andthey're really learning a lot in
(00:21):
school right now.
So they have a lot of demandson their bodies and they need
mom to provide more help, support, energetic support,
healings, guided meditations, taking more time for me to put
my stuff down and connect withthem and just play and let them
be a kid.
So that's a phase that we'regoing through right now.
(00:44):
And in your minds you might bethinking maybe I want to be a
kid.
So that's a phase that we'regoing through right now.
And in your minds you might bethinking maybe I want to be an
entrepreneur, maybe I want tohave my own business.
How am I energetically supposedto slow everything down?
But I'm here to say it's aphase.
Right, it's most of the time.
It's something that our kidsare growing through and I'm
naming it a growth spurt rightnow because I know that this has
(01:04):
happened before in our houseand it's something that our kids
are growing through and I'mnaming it a growth spurt right
now because I know that this hashappened before in our house
and it's going to change and getbetter and then I can readjust
and realign and figure out again, restructure what we, what I,
have energy to give.
Hi, conscious Parents, it'sKeri here and I am here with a
little info about raising ourmindful kids.
(01:25):
I've got some tips and tricksabout breaking free of the box
and becoming who you are andteaching your kids how to do
that along the way.
Join us Hi there and welcomeback.
It's Keri, your friendly, intuitive mama here, and I am so
excited to be here today foranother little bonus quick tip
session.
And I wanted to talk to you guystoday about monitoring our
(01:48):
energy levels as a parent.
I think we've talked about thisa little bit before and when.
We've touched on self-care andsome of those pieces, but it's
been something that my husbandand I have been trying to
monitor in ourselves, wherewe're having a depleted weekend
and we just say drop everything.
We're not going to double batchour meal prep.
(02:10):
This Saturday we are going outto Flower Child, we are going to
live it up and we are going toget the extra special lemon
olive oil muffin this weekendbecause we need a little love.
So, yes, one of our main thingsthat my husband and I love to
do to try to help ourselves ison Saturdays and Sundays, we
double batch cook, so we'll havea meal for that day and then
(02:32):
we'll have a leftover meal forduring the week.
That will reheat and that kindof saves us a little energy.
But if we're having a busyweekend and we have our kids
having a lot of emotions, there's a lot of big feelings
and a lot of big energy.
That's been happening in ourhousehold lately.
I don't know about you guys,but I think there's been a
(02:53):
little bit of energy shiftlately, and so it's really
important as a parent that wemonitor where we're at with our
energy levels.
It's been really interestingfor my husband and I.
We have and I hope he's okaywith me talking about these
pieces but we have just gone inparallel with some of the energy
(03:14):
shifts that happen in our lives.
It'll be a point in my lifewhere I was looking to start.
The podcast was also in areally similar timing at a point
in my husband's life where hewas looking at starting some new
projects at work and it reallytook a lot of self-reflection
(03:34):
and intuitive connection forourselves to tune in and figure
out what we were really seekingin those moments.
So I really encourage you tothink about that in your
relationship.
Is there anything that could begoing on now?
Maybe you've shifted throughsomething at the end of the year
energy Maybe you're shiftinginto something.
(03:56):
Maybe you are in a goodcoasting period in your life,
which is also awesome as well, when you can coast along and
everything's in the right flowstate for you.
So right now in our house,we're in this moment where we
can feel like we made some bigchanges last spring and energy
(04:18):
is just flowing.
Right now we're readdressingand reassessing what really
matters in our lives.
We have had some challengesthat have come up here and there
with our kids where we have toenergy shift.
We have to dive into, maybe, therapy We've maxed out what
therapists can do with our kidsand we have to look at some
(04:41):
energy work Me as myself, Ithink about that in.
Maybe I have to slow down withmy podcasting.
Maybe I have to.
Maybe I don't have the energyto start the five different
projects that I was looking atcreating in the podcasting world
, and maybe my husband needs tohave a little bit more energy
for his work and so he might notbe emotionally available as
(05:03):
much to help with the kids.
So, thinking about how thisbalance and I talk about it
energetically because it's socommon in our house, with four
highly sensitive people, it'sreally common that if somebody's
off skew in their energy, weall feel it and we all pick it
up.
Whether or not we want to, it'sjust that energy and that vibe
(05:25):
that really circulates in thehouse.
So if somebody is in a bad moodand they're grumpy and we'll be
like whoa, you're snapping atme, what's going on?
What's up?
How can I help support you whenthat person that is snapping
may not even notice that it'sgoing on because they're in a
mood right, things are shifting, big feelings are happening, and
so it's really important for usto tune in and see where we're
(05:48):
at energetically.
I have a prayer affirmation thatI've been thinking about.
It goes.
Thank you so much, universe, for helping to guide me along in
my path and showing me whereand when to make changes to
better myself.
This is really important whenwe are expressing gratitude for
(06:14):
the challenges that are arising.
Think about how we're changingour attitude, our energy, our
emotions and shifting to beinggrateful for these moments of
change.
I love the idea of we thinkthat we need a change.
We think I need some new energy.
I need some new energy.
I need some changes.
(06:35):
I need to shift my podcast orshift my work journey, but there
doesn't feel like there'sanything available right now.
So maybe it's not the time toshift.
Maybe it's the time to slowdown, connect recharge, connect
recharge and then tune into ourbodies.
Does it feel for me when I knowthat something is right and I
(07:00):
know that it's something that isthe right path for me?
It feels like home when I thinkabout it.
So, for instance, when I waslooking at starting Heart to
Heart Parents, I knew that it Ididn't.
Honestly, that wasn't myultimate goal originally and
then, as I started doing it, Iwas like this feels really good.
I'm meeting really amazingpeople.
People are coming up to me andtelling me they love the show
(07:22):
and it really resonates withthem and they feel seen and
heard and valued.
And I also did not feel aloneas much in my parenting
experience.
Like whoa, other people havekids that have meltdowns too.
Other people have big feelings.
Kids too, twice, exceptionalkids.
I'm not alone.
I'm not the only person goingthrough this behind closed doors
(07:45):
, so it was really interesting.
When we can find what's theright path for us, it's
presented to us, it feels, itresonates in our whole body.
It doesn't feel like you'retrying to swim upstream, it
doesn't feel like you need tokeep making changes.
Sometimes life does get hardand if you feel like it's the
(08:06):
right thing for you, youcontinue to try to put the
energy toward it.
But sometimes there's also theshift in energy in the house
where I've realized like my kidsare going through sensitive
periods.
They're going through growthspurts right now and their
bodies are changing quickly andthey're really learning a lot in
school right now.
So they have a lot of demandson their bodies and they need
(08:28):
mom to provide more help, support, energetic support,
healings, guided meditations, taking more time for me to put
my stuff down and connect withthem and just play and let them
be a kid.
So that's a phase that we'regoing through right now and in
(08:49):
your minds you might be thinkingmaybe I want to be an
entrepreneur, maybe I want tohave my own business.
How am I energetically supposedto slow everything down?
But I'm here to say it's aphase, right, it's most of the
time.
It's something that our kidsare growing through and I'm
naming it a growth spurt rightnow Because I know that this has
(09:09):
happened before in our houseand it's going to change and get
better and then I can readjustand realign and figure out again
, restructure what we, what I,have energy to give.
So it was really cool.
My husband and I sat down and welooked at what are the
struggles we're facing right nowfor each of us, what are the
(09:31):
struggles our kids are facing?
What is really?
What is the strength thateverybody's showing right now?
What?
How does everybody need moresupport?
What is this?
Is this a phase?
Is this?
And we assessed it all.
And then we assessedheart-to-heart parents, which is
a part of our family.
We assess my husband and hiswork journey.
We assess our kids in theirschool journey and their
(09:52):
friendship journeys, the thingsand the pieces that matter to
them, and then we just look atthe ebb and flow of where we
need to put energy, where weneed to pull energy, and it was
so amazing to work with myhusband in this way and say
here's where we need to focusour energy, here's where Carrie
could cut back, here's whereCarrie could give more.
(10:12):
And my husband he has hisultimatums right.
I've mentioned this before.
But when he comes home and ifthere's dishes all over the sink
because I was podcasting allday and I didn't have time to
get to it that's really hard forhis system to walk into at 530
in the afternoon.
So you guys can list your endgame, your things that need to
(10:32):
get done, that are reallyimportant to your system, to
keep that energy for yourselftoo.
That has been so amazing.
So I encourage you to try thisprayer out and don't forget your
guided meditations for yourselfand for your kids.
I will look at trying to share anew one soon.
We love to do them.
We do them every night.
So happy journey, parenting.
(10:53):
