Carrie Lingenfelter (00:00):
And so when
we talk about energy for
ourselves and as we discuss itwith our kids, we really need to
talk about how everything isenergy.
You are energy, I am energy.
We are all made up of energy.
The tree outside is energy.
The plant over in my garden isenergy, water even has energy
(00:20):
and a lot of people are eventalking about blessing water
with energy.
It's really cool, and a lot ofpeople are even talking about
blessing water with energy.
It's really cool, and as I tookReiki, I learned about how we
(00:42):
could bless different thingswith positive can flow with it,
or we can disconnect from it,which is a really important tool
to teach our highly sensitive, our empathic kids.
Hi, conscious Parents, it'sKeri here and I am here with a
little info about raising ourmindful kids.
I've got some tips and tricksabout breaking free of the box
(01:03):
and becoming who you are andteaching your kids how to do
that along the way.
Join us.
Hi spiritual parents, welcomeback.
I'm so excited to talk aboutthe foundations of spiritual
parenting.
So, as we start to grow andlearn and continue on our
spiritual parenting journey andour journey of awareness and
spiritual connection, I want tothink about energy.
(01:25):
I know that's like a buzzwordfor me.
I talk about energy a lot.
Energy is something that I wasrecently reintroduced to.
I heard about it a lot growingup, but as a 20-something,
30-something year old, you justgo into your own knowing.
So I'm coming back to all ofthese pieces that I had
foundations of as a child, and Ihope that you can come back and
(01:47):
open yourself up to this aswell.
So when I think about energy, Ialso think about the pieces
that we have to heal within asparents.
So every time we're talkingabout energy, we can share
pieces of energy work with ourkids.
For sure.
Let's do that now.
Let's not do that when they're40.
We we also have pieces thatcome up in our parenting journey
(02:07):
and awareness about our healingfrom within, and so when we
talk about energy for ourselvesand as we discuss it with our
kids, we really need to talkabout how everything is energy.
You are energy, I am energy.
We are all made up of energy.
The tree outside is energy, theplant over in my garden is
(02:29):
energy, water even has energy, and a lot of people are even
talking about blessing waterwith energy.
It's really cool, and as I tookReiki, I learned about how we
could bless different thingswith positive energy and reset
spaces with energy, since Reikideals with energy, so that's a
tool that I have used withenergy in our house.
(02:49):
When we are talking aboutenergy with our kids, we want to
think about the flow of energy, how we can feel it, how we can
flow with it or we can stop itand put a kibosh on it.
We can disconnect from it,which is a really important tool
to teach our highly sensitive, our empathic kids A huge piece
(03:13):
that I have learned about.
It's interesting because Ilearned it in speech therapy.
We talked about capacity anddemands when we were talking
about stuttering.
It was really interestingbecause we would talk about.
Well, actually, let me share astory with you guys, first about
capacity and demand.
So it is currently summer and Iam home with my kids.
I've put a little hiatus insome of my parenting podcasts
(03:37):
because I want to be present andactive with my kids.
I'm really lucky I get to dothat and so during summer it can
get really intense at times inour house.
I am fully present, fullyactive with my kids.
They're not in camps.
We've decided we just want tobe home with them this summer
and see what everything, howeverything goes in that way
energetically.
So this summer I decided I needto create boundaries for myself.
(04:02):
I am a recovering perfectionist, but I dropped that perfection
label a few years ago and one ofthe things that I had to learn
in doing that was allowing myhouse to be in the state that it
is.
If you are watching the video, you can see a airplane in the
background.
That just goes along with wheremy energy boundaries are.
My house is not perfect and Ihad to learn that I had to
(04:24):
follow myself energetically.
Do I have the energy to have aperfect house?
I did for a while, but then Ilearned that as I was trying to
keep the perfect house, I wasstarting to come down on my kids
.
I was starting to get upsetwith the messiness.
I was starting to feel anxiousand nervous and then that would
bubble up into being shorttempered or short with my kids,
(04:48):
or being extra perfection.
I was pushing this perfectiononto my kids because the house
it, just it gets exhausting, trying to keep up with it all
the time.
Raise your hand if you're goingthrough this.
I see you parents.
So I learned I had to focus myenergy into where it mattered.
Sometimes that can look likestopping, putting a hand on your
heart, tuning within and sayingwhat within me needs the house
(05:13):
to be perfect.
It didn't happen overnightwhere I was like, okay, the
chaos is the chaos, I'm finewith it, I'm just going to move
on.
No, it's been a healing, growing journey in that I have
learned sometimes people thatcome over are offended by my
mess.
Sometimes my parents will comeover and maybe they're like,
(05:34):
geez, this house is really messy, carrie, you need some help.
What's going on?
I'm like, well, it is what itis.
Guys, I'm a happier mom.
I'm a loving mom.
I am happier in my skin when Ican let certain things go.
And so, looking at some ofthose inner child pieces of why
do I have to have perfection?
(05:54):
Why does this have to feelcontrolled?
Why do I feel like, why do Ihave to feel like I can control
this perfectly, those werethings that I had to look at and
it's really cool.
Now, as I have learned to followmy energy in the summer, I will
.
I have learned that I sometimesI completely put down the
(06:16):
podcast on a day.
I don't do any recording thatday because I want to be present
with my kids and I know they'llturn on the TV if I'm going to
podcast, so it's.
It's been really cool to kindof see where I want to focus my
energy.
I also am learning with energythat I don't just go, go, go, go
go.
I took them on a really bighike, which was really cool for
(06:39):
us, and the kids wanted to goall the way to the top, which I
did not expect.
But the next day I was likelet's go to the beach.
You guys wanted to go to thelake.
We're going to go to the lake,'re gonna go to the lake, we're
gonna go visit our grandma andwe're gonna go to the lake.
It's gonna be awesome.
The third day I was like whoa, carrie, you were going for the
best parent of the world awardright now and let's tone it down
(07:00):
.
So we stayed home.
We followed our energy levels.
I was like I'm exhausted.
I cannot pack another lunch andhave you guys only eat half of
it, because you didn't want thatsandwich.
But I was trying to do go, go,go and have fun with you guys.
No, we stayed home.
We heated up some frozen potstickers and we recharged our
energy.
And it wasn't just me thatneeded it.
My kids needed it too.
(07:21):
So, looking at our energy, seeing if our bucket has enough
capacity left in it for thedemands that you're going to
place on it.
So, if my bucket is alreadyreally full and I'm feeling
exhausted because I've been homewith my kids for four days, am
I going to plan a giant hike onFriday?
No, I'm going to stay home.
(07:42):
I'm going to catch up on someof the things.
I'm going to re-energize andguess what?
Your kids are probably theretoo, especially if they're
sensitive kids.
So kids are going to be pickingup on our energy, right, when
we're talking about energy, thekids feel it.
The kids have their own amountsof energy and then they're
going to pick up and reflectyours.
Right, I'm really intense.
(08:03):
They're going to be feelingreally intense.
So some of the things that weneed to do in order to stay in a
zen place with our energy, in afulfilled spot energetically,
is self-care right, it's a bigbuzzword.
And self-care.
If you're doing self-care andyou are not actively present, if
you are not spirituallyconnected with yourself during
(08:25):
your self-care, it doesn't count, guys, if you're sitting on
your phone and scrolling throughand then you're like, oh my
gosh, this political thing isgoing on.
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh.
Did you see in the news thisthing happened?
Oh, so-and-so.
I only got one like on my post.
Whatever it is, that's notrecharging, that doesn't count
as self-care.
Self-care is when you walk awayfeeling whole and powerful and
(08:48):
connected with the true side ofyou.
That's real self-care.
Other things that help with allthese pieces of our keeping our
energy fresh crystals those canhelp.
I've got my crystal necklace, got my crystal ring.
I love crystals and I rechargethem in the sun and it helps me
energetically.
It protects my energy, my kidsfrom my kids energy, because
(09:09):
they love to take your energywithout realizing it.
They love to put their energyon you without realizing it.
So crystals are great.
Meditations are wonderfulMeditations.
Even if you can do a bathroommeditation for two minutes as a
parent, even if you can do anoffice meditation as a working
parent, and you need that timeto connect with yourself.
(09:29):
Two minutes, anything you canget.
Meditations are wonderful forrecharging Energy clearings.
That can be one you can do withyour kids.
When I'm doing an energyclearing guided meditation at
night after reading a book withmy kids, I'm picturing the same
thing myself.
I'm walking them through ameditation for themselves and
I'm picturing the same thing formyself.
(09:50):
I'm releasing that and thenwhen I walk out of their room
that night I'm going to dust offmy hands as I disconnect from
their energy and give myself myown energy back.
We're clearing our hands as wewalk out.
Another amazing way to rechargeyour energy getting outside,
being in nature.
If you can take off your shoes, walk in some grass, stand in
(10:13):
the grass, open your hands andlook up at toward the sun,
letting the sunlight shine Coveryour face, just feeling that
warmth, feeling that goldenenergy.
That's amazing.
If you can go hug a tree andground yourself, be connected
with that tree, that's amazingtoo.
These are ways that we canrecharge our spirit, recharge
(10:34):
our energy.
It's so important as a busyparent.
So this week it would be sowonderful if you could hug a
tree, if you could get out intonature, if you can think of one,
if you could get out intonature, if you can think of one
of the self-care pieces and tryit out, if you can tell your
kids about energy, tell themabout where your energy is at in
(10:54):
that moment.
Explain to them.
You can show them, you cancreate like a visual meter, like
okay, so before we went to thelibrary, dad's energy was way up
here, and then the library gota little loud and a little
intense, so my energy is downhere.
So I think we're going to goread a book for a few minutes
and then my energy will berecharged.
What about you guys?
How is your energy feeling?
(11:16):
Those are great ways to modelit for our kids.
Let's close out with anaffirmation prayer today.
So we're going to put our handson our heart.
We're going to say thank you, universe, for helping to guide
me along this parenting journey.
Thank you for helping me toconnect with who I truly am
inside.
Thank you for helping me to seewhere my energy is at and how
(11:38):
to guide my kids so they canknow where their energy is at.
Thank you for helping me tofeel like the best version of
myself, to feel recharged and tohelp me learn when I need to
recharge my heart and my soul.
And so it is.
Thank you.
