Speaker 1 (02:57):
Pete good a crossover.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
What are the details in and around Gina Ryan Hartz
fancy Pen's cruise? That is she shouted the gold medalists
and these gold boots.

Speaker 4 (03:07):
Well, she's really devoted to the Australian swimming team and
you know she bankrolls, personally bankrolls ninety athletes so that
they have an income, you know, so they're not just
relying on winnings and so you know, I know she
cops a lot of stick. People just really come after

(03:27):
her and they send her up about her weight and whatever.
But she's pretty amazing woman actually, to think ninety athletes
can enjoy their sport without having to worry about how
do I pay the rent next week? Because most of
them are not, you know, making big money from their winnings.
Some will, but others won't. But anyway, she's over in
Paris and she hosted this luxury cruise. It's a restaurant boat,

(03:52):
and I mean put anything else. Everything over there is
just so booked out. So for her to be able
to get a restaurant boat and to be able to
hold that party is quite something. But yeah, you ask
any of those athletes and they will say, you know,
thank god she's around, because we would be in troubled
times if she wasn't.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
And was it just the gold medalists that got the
gold boots?

Speaker 4 (04:16):
I think only they did. Yeah, but she's always sending
them all gifts, and you know, she's very very generous.
And I don't know they should have they should have
invited Serena Williams on the trip. Have you been reading
about that? No?

Speaker 1 (04:29):
I saw there was some controversy. An honesty athlete had
a selfie with Williams and caused a massive fur roor
of some sort. What's the story there Pete.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
Well, she turned up at a rooftop restaurant at the
Peninsula Hotel and they said, we're fully booked. Sorry. She
turned up with another woman and her two kids, and
so she rushes back to her hotel room, gets a
photograph of the sign of the Peninsula Hotel and says,
I've been denied access to this restaurant. How there?

Speaker 3 (05:00):
They?

Speaker 4 (05:00):
Oh, yeah, and I've been never been turned away with
my children before. So and she actually used the word
denied access, so it was kind of like she was
trying to hint that it was a racial thing. Yeah,
and look, the restaurant, to their credit, they replied very
nicely to her and said, look, sorry you disappointed, but

(05:21):
we were fully booked out. You can imagine every restaurant
and with all those high flyers in town and media
and celebrities, you got a book months in advance needed
like that. You know, someone like her, the word no
is a very very foreign concept to her. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:39):
I was going to say, I remember going to a
restaurant once and very similar thing. I was like, can
I grab a table for two? I didn't have a booking.
They're like, sorry, mate, we're fully booked. And what I
did was say okay, cool, thanks for your time anyway,
and just moved on with my life.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
Yeah.
