Speaker 3 (01:45):
We Sylvia greetings, salutations from down under. Lui WII has everything?
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Is it is bonsois o'clock in Paris right now?
Speaker 3 (01:57):
It's always in Paris.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Exactly, exactly, No, it's great. Look the vibe is really building,
the athletes are settling into the village. Everyone's getting really pumped.
And the opening ceremony now is only a couple of
days away, so it happens Wednesday night here Paris time,
Thursday morning, four am Australian Eastern time.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
Are the athletes behaving themselves so far? Sylvia? We haven't
seen any sh no comment.
Speaker 4 (02:26):
I've only I've seen clips from ice bars and that's
all I will say.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
That's just science. It's fine, Sylvia. Who are some of
the posit athletes to watch? God?
Speaker 4 (02:38):
Where gosh, where do you even start? You know, the
swimming kicks off on the first night and that's massive.
All of Australia will remember Alexi Leary from the swimming
trials in Brisbane earlier this year with her breakout you know,
post swim interviews, bring on the crape. She's ready for
the crapes and she dives into her first potential medal
(02:58):
on the first day of action in Paris.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
Going to be great, looking quite good. Indeed, at this point.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Sylvia tell me that her parents are there as well,
because I've seen you guys do quite a few interviews
with Alexa, and she's just a character and amongst herself,
but her parents too, who are just so proud, and
the backstory of her as well her trials.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
Yeah, she got knocked off her bike. She was a
former triathlete, got knocked off her bike on a training
run training bike ride with her father in the same peloton,
suffered really severe injuries, was not really expected to walk again,
and here she is now debuting at the Paris Paralympics,
a really strong metal chance. We saw the emotion of
(03:40):
her parents when she wanted the swimming trial, and I
do recall them saying as soon as she won, they
would be booking flights for themselves and all of their children.
And I'm pretty sure, if I'm not mistaken, Alexa is
one of six or seven children. The whole weary family
will be in toe.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
Yeah, we watch extrawdinary.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Watch out any of the pubs and or clubs in Paris.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Well the Olympics. For anything to go by, it will
be the Irish pubs that go off.
