Speaker 1 (00:04):
Hello, my friends and
fellow animal lovers, welcome
to a new episode of the Story ofmy Pet podcast.
I am your host, as always, julie Marty Pearson, and today
is a very special episodebecause I will not have a guest.
It's going to be a solo episodein order for me to celebrate
the second anniversary of theStory of my Pet podcast.
(00:27):
I am so beyond grateful to behere still doing this two years
later.
Back in May of 2022, when Irecorded my first episode and
published it along with mytrailer, I had no idea where
this journey in podcasting wasgoing to go.
Today, I have two podcasts andthe story of my pet is going
(00:51):
strong.
I am meeting new pet parentsall the time and interviewing
them from around the world totell their stories.
Through this journey, I notonly have shared so many stories
, but I, too, have learned somuch myself.
I never imagined when I startedhow much I was going to learn
(01:14):
and how many new, amazing peopleI was going to meet.
Honestly, I started the storyof my pet because I'm a pet
lover.
I've always had pets.
I've always loved animals, beena huge animal advocate, but
little did I know.
I only knew a little bit aboutthe animal rescue world and I've
learned so much more sincestarting the podcast from the
(01:36):
people that I have interviewedpet parents, advocates, people
who work in animal rescue, whowork in animal shelters, who run
nonprofit organizations.
I really have learned so muchfrom my guests and I'm so happy
to continue this podcast, tocontinue to educate you, the
listeners, on things that I'mlearning, things that I have
(01:59):
learned and hearing from peoplewho are on the front lines of
animal rescue.
In the last two years I myselfhave now volunteered at my local
animal shelter.
I have also volunteered withthe local dog rescue
organization.
I have also fostered for mylocal animal shelter.
(02:19):
I've had episodes all aboutfostering.
I've fostered many kittenssince I started as a foster,
including the litter of sixwhere my baby, pumpkin the
calico, came from.
She became official part of ourfamily after I fostered her and
her five siblings.
You can hear an episode allabout the adventures and
(02:41):
fostering that I've had.
I also worked for a while at mylocal shelter.
I helped run the off-site dogadoption events on the weekends.
Again, being a volunteer andpart-time staff, I have learned
so much about the reality ofwhat is going on in animal
shelters around the countrywhere I live in Kern County in
(03:03):
California.
We are in crisis with the overpopulation, especially of dogs,
and I have learned a lot aboutreally what's going on, what we
need.
We need to keep educatingpeople on the importance of
fostering and adoption.
We really need people tounderstand the importance of
(03:23):
spay and neutering and adoption.
We really need people tounderstand the importance of
spay and neutering, how thehealth benefits as well as the
unwanted litters of dogs andcats that can be avoided by spay
and neutering so much.
I have learned that from notonly from this podcast, but
firsthand being in the shelter, and I'm going to continue to
tell those stories from myexperience from others who are
(03:44):
still out there on the frontlines every day, so that we can
just keep learning and sharingand supporting the animals so
that we can save more.
That's what it's all about.
So I really wanted to come ontoday to record this episode,
not only to celebrate and sharewhat I've learned, how having
(04:04):
this podcast about pets haschanged my own life.
You're watching this on YouTube.
You can see my wall of petsbehind me.
Some are my own, some are justart that I love, that I'm
inspired by wearing my sparklecat ears to celebrate two years
of the story of my pet.
I want to thank you all forlistening, for sharing to some
(04:25):
of you listening right now, forbeing on the podcast and sharing
your stories.
I know it's not always easy todo that to share stories of pets
we've lost.
It can be hard, but celebratingour pets, past and present, is
so important Helping each otherto grieve, helping each other to
get through difficultsituations, managing health
(04:46):
issues of our pets, supportingeach other in our efforts as
volunteers, as rescuers, asfosters all the ways that we can
support each other and supportanimal rescue and animal
shelters that need us.
So if you're listening to thisand you have a story that you
want to share that you thinkwill inspire others, please let
(05:08):
me know.
You can check me out onInstagram at the story of my pet
podcast.
Send me a DM or go to the linkin the show notes and you can
find my direct email.
Let me know what you want toshare.
If you know someone who worksin animal rescue, let me know
what you want to share.
If you know someone who worksin animal rescue, animal
(05:32):
shelters, animal nonprofitrelated organizations, anything
that they're doing to helpanimals in need and think they
should be spotlighted, pleaselet me know.
You can DM or email me directly.
I am always looking for moreamazing people working in animal
rescue who want to tell theirstory and who I can help
spotlight and hopefully inspireothers to get involved or
educate them on an importanttopic.
(05:52):
So please share your ideas, share who you would love to hear
on the podcast.
And my biggest ask is to justhelp me continue the podcast,
and you can do that in one offive ways.
One, by continuing to listen, but make sure you are subscribed
and that you download each newepisode.
(06:13):
That is really important for meand the podcast to show all the
different people listening thatthey've downloaded and listened
to each episode.
Next, you can share it.
You can share the episode witha friend or a family member.
You can do that by eithersharing the episode directly or
following me on Instagram andFacebook and just reposting my
(06:36):
posts or directing people to mypage Again, that's at the Story
of my Pet podcast on Instagramand Story of my Pet on Facebook.
You can also help the podcastby going to YouTube and
subscribing to my YouTubechannel.
You'll find my channel, julieMarty Pearson.
(06:57):
It's the channel where I hostboth of my podcasts, and if you
subscribe, you will getnotifications every time a new
episode launches and lands onYouTube, and I will be sharing
full video of my interviews forthe last several episodes of
season three on YouTube directly, and I'll be sharing more short
(07:18):
videos and clips there as well.
So please go to YouTube, julieMarty Pearson, subscribe to my
channel and you can see all ofthe upcoming episodes and videos
there.
Next, if you'd like to supportthe podcast financially, which I
greatly appreciate, you can goto the link in my bio on social
(07:39):
or in the show notes of thisepisode and buy me a coffee.
It's as simple as that.
You can send me a coffee andthat money will go to support
the podcast.
If you don't know anythingabout podcasting, it does
actually require money to dothis.
I have to pay for the host site, for the editing software that
(08:00):
I use, amongst many other things, and really the podcast is my
passion.
I'm keeping this podcast goingin order to educate and advocate
.
I want to advocate for theanimals in our country, in my
local community, that need help, and I want to educate people on
(08:20):
the importance of spay andneuter, on fostering adoption
and supporting animal rescue andshelters in your area, but in
order to do that, I need helpmyself financially in order to
keep the podcast going.
So, like I said, click the link, buy me a coffee, and that is a
great way to help the podcast.
Lastly, there's a new way thatyou can help the podcast, and
(08:42):
this is something that I will beadding to episodes from here on
, which are some ads that I willbe reading during the episodes.
Now, I will never have an adfor something that is not
something I actually use myselfor use with my pets and can tell
you that it works and that itis a value and that you should
(09:02):
try it.
So I will only be running a fewads and I'll tell you a little
bit about the two companies now, but, just so you know, these
ads will be very short withinupcoming episodes.
If you want to learn more, youcan click the links in the show
notes of the episode You'relistening to learn more about
the ad that I have read.
So the first company I'm goingto be sharing with you is NuVida
(09:26):
.
Nuvida is a CBD company that Ihave actually been using for
several years, off and on.
I recently came back to it totry one of their new products.
It's a detox bundle that theyhave that I've used both
products of and they have helpedme so much, and we'll talk more
about those specifically in theads when I create them.
(09:49):
But Nuvita is a CBD company andwhat I love about them is they
create products not only for meas a human, but they also have a
very special pet formula of CBDand I have used it with my own
cat recently.
He has a lot of anxiety.
He does not want to go into acarrier, if you know.
You know does not like going tothe vet and having a little bit
(10:11):
of that pet formula CBD about30 minutes beforehand.
It relaxes him, makes him lessanxious and less scared of going
in the carrier, the car and tothe vet.
I learned about Nubita through afriend on Instagram.
I have followed her for yearsand years Joanne, who you can
(10:32):
find at For the Love of Smiley.
I followed her years ago whenshe posted about Smiley, her
blind gold retriever who becamea therapy dog, and through the
years I feel like I know her.
She's a friend of mine andshe's been using NuVita for
years as well.
She's who I learned about ityears ago and came back to it
(10:54):
again when she mentioned it, andshe's used it with her pets, so
she will be on an upcomingepisode to talk all about her
experience.
She's been a dog trainer and avet tech and now has a small
farm with dogs and cats, andhorses and a donkey, and she has
used CBD with all of them fordifferent reasons, and she will
(11:14):
be sharing her experience togive you a little bit of how you
might be able to use NuVita'spet formula with your own pets.
So I really look forward tothat.
If this is something that's ofinterest to you now, please go
to the link in the show notes,as well as on my social media
pages, go to NuVita, look around, and the best part is you can
(11:35):
use my code, julie10, for 10%off your order.
There's no minimum purchase, nocertain amount you have to buy,
and you can use that code everysingle time you shop Nuvita,
and that's what I love aboutthem they always have great
deals, and so I am proud to bean affiliate for them.
(11:55):
The other company that I will bedoing short ads about is Little
Words Project.
Again, this is a company I havebought from for years and years
at least five or six years, maybe longer, probably since
pretty soon after they came out,I learned about them and have
purchased items from them.
It is a jewelry company.
Their main product are beadedbracelets what most people call
(12:17):
friendship bracelets but I findtheirs to be super high quality
and they have an amazing varietyof colors and gems and all
different things.
They started out the idea ofspreading kindness and now they
are a huge company.
They have shops in variousplaces across the United States.
You can buy some of theirproducts in Target around the
(12:39):
United States, as well asthrough their of their products
in Target around the UnitedStates, as well as through their
website, littlewordprojectscom, and I will have it linked in
the show notes.
And why I love them is becausethey create all these different
types of bracelets withdifferent words or sayings, but
they also have custom, so youcan choose your color, your type
and put whatever word, date orwords that you want.
(13:03):
I use them all the time.
I have bought them many of themmyself for myself.
I've also bought them for manyfriends and family as gifts.
This episode is being recordedin early May, right before
Mother's Day.
It is a great gift option foryour mom and for your grandma,
your friends, your sisters,anybody.
I have them in a variety.
(13:25):
I have my name, I have mypodcast name on one.
I have several with my pet'snames on them, which I love.
They also have a specialcollection right now for moms
with all different types of momsGrandma Nana, all the moms with
all different types of moms.
Grandma Nana, all the moms, catmoms too, dog moms.
They also do specialcollections helping to raise
(13:47):
money for different causes andorganizations.
They're just a greatorganization themselves and I
love their products and I lovegetting them and giving them as
gifts.
So check outlittlewordprojectscom link in
the show notes and use my codeBIRRMOM for 15% off your order.
Again, no minimum purchaseneeded and you can use the code
(14:08):
more than once.
They ship very quickly and itis a great idea for gifts for
Mother's Day, for graduations,birthdays.
Anyone I know would be happy toget one of their bracelets.
