Speaker 1 (00:00):
The following podcast is a work of fiction.
All characters are the creationof Peter Williams.
Any resemblance to someoneliving or dead is purely
coincidental.
Thank you, alex.
And Sam go from the frying panand into the fire as they try to
save Harmony from the clutchesof the labyrinth, while Henry,

(00:24):
he begins to look at Mark likehe's lunch.
Mmm.
Of course Malus finds this allvery amusing, and of course so
should we, perhaps.
Maybe we should grab a bite ortwo as well.
Maybe some fried zygote, orperhaps a rotting child inside
of Henry's body?

(00:44):
I'm sure they must be fermentedby now.
Mmm, ah, I just could usesomething more to eat.
But before digging in on thisTentacle Tuesday, let me remind
you that this podcast maycontain images of graphic
violence, child endangerment and, of course, course that naughty

(01:06):
, salty language.
Now munch away, my friends.
Grab a tentacle or two whileyou're at it, as the dead shall
walk amongst the living and theliving shall walk among the dead
.
In Chapter 19, connections.
In Chapter 19, connections, mark looked out through a broken

(01:31):
, stained glass window and uponthe desolation of the waste, the
sun blazed and the harsh, dryground smoldered under the
intense heat.
This sucks, damn that childMark.
Spit when the hell is Malus?
He'd better not have left usout here to rot.
Henry turned with aninquisitive look.
Malus Mark, in his bitterness, had forgotten that Henry was

(01:52):
unaware of the demon Malus.
Sorry, master, malus is an allythat has helped me, helped us
with our plans in regards to theSacred Dawn.
I see Henry closed his eyes andthought and you believe that he
can assist us here?
Yes, master, my acquaintance isquite unique.

(02:12):
I see Henry repeated Mark, yes, master, how is it that you are
acquainted with this?
And here Henry motioned to theouter world, beyond the ruined
church, this waste.
Mark wondered that too.
He didn't ever remember cominghere, but somehow, perhaps

(02:33):
instinctual, he knew of thisplace.
Outside, they could hear theclicking of the mandibles of
several zygots and fans.
In case you don't remember, zygots are man-sized creatures,
almost like humanoid flies.
They seek out living creaturesthat fall into the waste, eating
any poor souls thataccidentally wind up there.
And although neither Mark orHenry are quite living, they do

(02:56):
have flesh and that will attractthem.
Now back to the story.
Again, mark began to wonder ifMalus had abandoned them as his
had their usefulness come to anend.
He couldn't see how Mark.
Henry began to whine.
I'm hungry, and what do youwant me to do about it, master?

(03:17):
He stopped.
He could see the look inHenry's eyes.
If he egged Henry on, he mighteat him.
You know, master, I knew eatthose things, can I?
I can't see why not.
Henry's eyes lit up and flewopen the unhinged doors.
Immediately, several zygotsturned their massive, misshapen,

(03:40):
fly-like heads towards him, their mandibles clattering as
drool pulled from their mouths.
Eww, they look yucky.
Henry moaned.
Dammit Henry, I can't help you.
Either eat them or or I couldeat you.
Oh, for fuck's sake, henry, IWell, isn't this sweet.

(04:03):
Seeping through the floor andforming into a shadow and then
solidifying into somethingman-shaped, but like Henry, it
was clear he was no man.
Henry, feeling threatened, backed up, who do you think you
are To interrupt my?
Henry began to say.
And then Henry found himselfclutching at the seams that held

(04:23):
his flesh together.
I am your benefactor, henry, thomas, and you should be
showing me some respect andadulation.
Malus's yellow eyes becomingmore like flames I know you not.
Henry coughed, spitting blood,being defiant.
No, you know me not.

(04:44):
Malus approached and, with onefinger, picked Henry's body up
off the floor.
Malus locked his eyes withHenry and Henry began to see the
truth that Henry was a merepile of nothing, only given form
by Malus, master.
Henry's eyes became wide, hisbody a moving, twitching mass.
That's better, malus sneered.

(05:06):
As Henry fell back on the floor, he could still feel the
individuals in his bodyrebelling, screaming in their
silent torture for their releaseor death.
Don't mind them, henry, they'rejust anxious and want out.
Malus added and made a motionwith his hand, as if he was
tying the ends of a loose pieceof sewn fabric, and the

(05:28):
teenagers inside Henry stoppedmoving at once.
Yes, master, I will serve you asI should.
Good, now, mark.
I am displeased by the doubtsI've heard whispered in your
thoughts.
Master, don't Mark.

(05:49):
Malus barked I need not yourexcuses, only your absolution,
and to have you complete thisjob.
Yes, master, of course I amyours, I am hers, I will serve
to the end.
Mark replied kneeling.
Now, boys, this, this place, connects to the world above.
It is a scar we can open andbring you out of the waste.

(06:12):
It is why I placed my servantabove, it is why I fed it, his
servants to act like Jonah's arm, so that when Jonah eats it, it
will sicken him and give you achance to kill him.
Finally, mark said yes, butremember to take his arm off
first.
I can't use it to bring backthe lost souls that he damned

(06:36):
inside to be extinguished andused as you wish, master.
Both Mark and Henry spoke.
I am going to bring you back tothe world of the living now,
malus said, as he cut open hishand and dripped black blood and
started chanting while drawingwhat looked like a stone.
Well, the church above trembled, the air cooled and Henry, mark

(06:58):
and Malus moved across the gulfand back into the world of the
living.
Brutus and Mason stood near alarger tank.
The tentacle inside churned, hungrily, thrashing, as if
trying to move beyond itsconfines and to the hillside
just beyond the doors.
It could sense Jonah, it couldsmell the sweet, tantalizing

(07:19):
flesh that had ensnared so manydemons, the human that was akin
to a Venus flytrap for them.
They go, attack, try to possess, only to be eaten and used.
That's right, my abomination.
It's time Mela soothed it,running his hand over its spiny
back, its mouth, moving likesaw-like blades.

(07:41):
Mason, yes, master, I must, asyou know, go.
Make sure you bring me Jonah'sarm.
Yes, master.
Malus pulled out the cold, swollen arm of Silas, the key
still firmly in its fingers, heplaced it around his own neck.
Mark and Henry made way fortheir master and Malus opened

(08:04):
the forbidden portal to thetower.
The key squirreled with a bluelight, but Malus could still see
that it was trying to force thegateway back closed.
Sorry, he said sarcastically, Ihave made my way and now I will
end yours.
He stepped into the portal andhe could hear the hissing air

(08:24):
around him.
He had finally, after thousandsof years, hear the hissing air
around him.
He had finally, after thousandsof years, made his way to the
tower.
He would obtain for himselfthis new threat, this Arista.
Meanwhile, mark and Henry madetheir own moves as Mason smashed
a tank, unleashing the creature, the Tentacle of Ikyatsu.
The Tentacle didn't wait either.

(08:45):
It smashed through the churchdoors and plowed its way towards
the Demon Eater, the senselessthing trying to regain what it
had lost, not even knowing ititself was a mere fabrication,
not a true piece of Ikyatsu, butmanufactured for this very
purpose Distract Jonah, so thatMark and Henry could maim and

(09:05):
then finally kill JonahHollander.
The tunnels made no sense, none, and if it wasn't for Sam's
light and presence, alex wouldhave found herself lost in the
darkness.
This was no place for theliving.
It actually attacked the personpsychically, showing the to
purify it, but to darken it,twist it and eventually mold it

(09:37):
into something Ekmalak could use.
How are you holding up, samasked.
Alex barely managed a horse,I'm okay, Hold me Echoed again
through the corridors, but itgave her no sense of direction.
This is getting us nowhere, alex said, leaning against the
walls, which instantly reachedout to try to grab her and hold

(10:00):
her to the spot, but Sam ignited, driving them off.
But shit.
Alex said yeah, there's noresting here.
How did Mom escape this, alexinquired.
Jonas sent Maggie in to guideher out.
Well, I have you, sam, I trustyou will lead me through this.
Alex took a deep breath andbegan to steady herself again

(10:23):
and move forward.
Wait, she caught something, orat least it rang in her head
like an afterthought, somethingsimilar to when you realize
something after doing it.
Sam, ready yourself again, alex.
What are you planning?
I'm gonna lean in again, butthis time burn the entire wall

(10:44):
behind me.
When I briefly touched the wall, I felt something.
I didn't register it at firstbecause I got frightened when
they grabbed at me, but I see.
Sam replied Ready, ready.
Alex leaned in again and oncemore the wall began to grow
fleshy, finger-like tubes thatbegan to surround Alex.

(11:06):
Oh word, this is gross, alexsaid, as one tried to grab her
mouth and fully open it so theycould fill her with these fleshy
tubes.
Hang in there, sam, said.
Alex did.
She bit her lips, closed hereyes and, whoosh.
Sam's flames came hot, searingthe things around her and

(11:26):
searing into the wall behind her, cooking it so that it began to
thin.
Alex felt the wall give her waybehind her and they fell
backwards and into anotherhallway.
That reminded Alex of theinside of someone's mouth, the
pinkest flesh, yellow and whitepussy-looking veins.
And there on the floor, intermingled with the flesh
growing around her body, wasHarmony Collins.

(11:49):
She did not move, but the flesharound her responded to Sam's
light and fire, forming twostrange bipedal monstrosities,
eyeless creatures with gapingmouths.
Sam, I've got them, alex, followmy lead.
Sam responded.
As she lit up again and, withguidance, alex parried and
thrust through the creaturesthat lashed out at them, but as

(12:12):
she cut them down, more formedit became an endless mass of
hungry flesh.
Damn it.
They must know I'm exhausted.
Yes, I'm sure they do.
But what do we do?
Alex asked Jump over them, alex, and get between them in.
Harmony Got it.
Sam pushed out a continuousflame as Alex jumped over the

(12:35):
creatures, burning them tostumps and landing just in front
of the unconscious Harmony Alex, be brave for a moment.
You're going to need to standwithout me for a few minutes.
Oh word what.
The creatures began to grow, stitching themselves out of the
walls and floors.
As the heads began to form, alex felt Sam's presence vanish.

(12:57):
At this, alex thought back toher own training.
There are two things to alwaysremember, alex.
Her teacher told her Love andtrust.
If you hold on to those, evenin the darkest place, you can go
beyond this mortal frame ofyours and connect directly to
your true self and to thecreator.
Focus your mind, she whisperedherself.

(13:19):
Feel the spirit that coursesthrough your body.
She took a deep breath and anew light began to form around
her, a light of her own making.
The very spirit that had formedher, given her life, was now
emanating through every part ofher own body.
Sam sensed it and smiled.
Alex wouldn't need her muchlonger.
She'd be able to stand on herown, using the gifts buried away

(13:42):
inside her.
She had been sent back for thisvery thing.
For this very moment, she wasto draw out those things.
And then, once more, she'd haveto wait.
A new master would come.
She was promised that, promisedshe'd have to wait.
A new master would come.
She was promised that, promisedthat she would never be alone.

(14:03):
In the meanwhile, sam's spiritpoured over Harmony Collins.
Harmony, she called out who areyou?
A distant voice answeredSomeone to bring you home.
Bring you home I.
I can leave.
You have not been forgotten.
Harmony, come see my light, seehis light, which shines from me
to you.
Harmony could see a distantblaze in the darkness.

(14:25):
At first she was afraid to movetowards it because it could see
, she could feel herself beingexposed to it.
And yet, daughter, come, thevoice called.
It wasn't Sam's.
It was a deeper, richer voicethat made her very soul and
heart ache.
Come, harmony, awakened, to seeAlex glowing with a deep white

(14:47):
fire.
Alex, it's about time you wokeup.
Alex retorted Sam, are you back?
Yep, then, in the words of HanSolo, let's blow this thing and
go home.
Sam smiled.
She would miss Alex, but thiswas the way of things for her.

(15:10):
She engulfed both Harmony andAlex and took them both home.
So, it seems.
Our little Alex has becomequite strong, but is that enough
?
And Harmony has been rescued, but will she be okay?
For the labyrinth is somethingmore than a place to get lost in
.
And Malus, the door is finallyopen.

(15:32):
You're off to see the wizard.
Oh, sorry, wrong story.
You're off to capture Arista.
Will it truly be that easy?
For I have it from a very goodsource that Arista is not quite
human herself as we turn thepage in chapter 20, a Bitter

(15:54):
Pill to Swallow.
