Content Warning/Trigger Warning: Graphic descriptions of violence and torture

70 year old Edna Phillips lived a quiet and secluded life with her white terrier Chum on the Penywaun estate in South Wales. Unfortunately, this estate had become increasingly dangerous as unemployment rates rose leading to higher levels of crime. Miss Phillips herself became the target of abuse after she complained about a family on the estate. She was verbally abused, rubbish was dumped in her garden, she had stones thrown at her and faeces were smeared on her house. Despite all of this evidence to support her request to be moved off the estate, the council failed to do so. The abuse would peak on the 16th July 1992 when Miss Phillips was attacked in her own home, she was tortured and murdered in the most brutal and vicious ways.
