John, a survivor of 9/11, shares his story and struggles with speech after the traumatic event. He grew up in a blue-collar family and pursued a career as an electrician. On September 11th, he was in Tower One when the first plane hit. He managed to escape and witnessed the devastation and chaos around him. John developed spasmodic dysphonia, a condition that causes muscle spasms in the throat, affecting his speech. Despite the challenges, he started a business and found alternative ways to communicate. His speech has improved over time, and he continues to navigate the difficulties caused by the events of 9/11. John discusses his experience with the 9/11 attacks and the impact it had on his mental health. He shares how he found healing through a support group and the use of alternative therapies. John also talks about his work with the 9/11 Project, which aims to create a central database of memorial sites and raise awareness for the first responders and their families. He emphasizes the importance of recognizing the struggles faced by skilled tradespeople and the need for support and resources. Brought to you by Generous Coffee www.generouscoffee.com
