Dave (00:11):
Hello and welcome to the
Super Size Phys Ed podcast.
My name is Dave and today Iwant to talk about summer break
and some of the things you cando to enhance your knowledge and
make your program the best itcan be for the next school year.
So, without further ado, herewe go, All right, everybody.
(00:42):
So I just want to go throughsome things that I put out in
the past.
Well little bit that it canhelp you with your summer
professional development orsummer plans to work on your
program for the fall.
So these are things that a lotof these are free.
Some of them are free, Some ofthem are not but I want to just
(01:03):
go through some of the thingsthat I, just as a reminder, that
are out there for you, thatI've created in the past well, I
guess lots of years, but someare newer that I might not have
talked about on the showrecently, and I will actually
make this a boomer so I canbreak this down step-by-step.
So if it's something you'reinterested in that you could
check out in the show notes, sohere's number one.
Something you're interested inthat you could check out in the
(01:23):
show notes, so here's number one.
All right, Number one is justgo to my website,
supersizefizadcom.
It has all the things and linksto them and you know, just,
(01:43):
it's the hub for what I do andthe things I put out and between
the articles, the courses, justeverything on there.
And so that's number one.
I'll make it real short, that'sjust.
The hub is supersizedphysedcomand the link is in the show
notes.
All these links are in the shownotes.
So that's number one, All right.
Number two are the kind of thefree things I have out there.
(02:05):
There's a lot of free things Ihave out there.
So the first I'll talk about isif you just join me on Substack
.
So Substack is kind of likeTwitter for writers and creators
.
There are feeds and chats andthings and things.
It's where I share my PE tips, games, strategies, articles on
(02:27):
just inspirational people,things like that.
So, but I always tie it back toPE.
Like if I talk about I guessone of my articles not too long
ago was about DeMar Hamlin ofthe Buffalo Bills, because
that's my team, you know isabout his.
You know what happened to himon the field and then how his
life changed and how.
You know maybe sometimes yourperspective on life or your, you
(02:51):
know your purpose in lifechanges and I tie that back into
PE.
So everything I write is tiedback into PE.
That's not the only thing Iwrote about, and recently I've
written things about just legacyand attention grabbers and you
know.
So some some very tactical, like invasion games, but some
(03:13):
more, I guess, not subjective, but more just inspirational, I
guess.
So that's Substack and also onMedium.
That's another place.
I write where there's just it'sjust articles.
That's not really a feed likeSubst.
I write where it's justarticles.
That's not really a feed likeSubstack, but that's just
articles.
So if you're a reader and youwant to learn more about
strategies and tips and gamesand things like that and
(03:35):
inspiration, that is Substackand Medium.
And again, everything's in theshow notes, All right, Some of
the free things in the links andon my website there's a free
video course on just what I calla PE9.
And that's in the book that Iwrote that I'll talk about in a
(03:56):
moment.
It is based on just upping yourgame and how you can do that,
and that's not just in PE butthat's in life and it's about a
20 minute video, but it's a freevideo course.
I think it's one of the bestthings I've created, actually
just really focused and on pointwith getting your PE program
(04:17):
the best it can be, but alsogetting, I guess, inspiration
for your life.
So a free video course.
One of the main things I've hadand I've had this for a while,
so a lot of you have this isthat my free ebook on setting up
your PE program.
I took that down for a littlewhile but I realized that was
one of the cornerstones of PEfor a lot of people, so I kept
that up and I'm going to keepthat up.
(04:38):
I'm going to free ebook on justsetting up your program and
just all the basics that youneed to know for, yeah, all the
basics for setting up yourprogram, especially if you're a
newer teacher.
So that is some of the freestuff.
And there's a lot of freethings on my website between
articles, some PDFs and in allthe blog posts and things like
(05:00):
that.
All right, so my book I actuallychanged the title of my book um
, it was the teacher, the chefand hockey player, and now it's
high fives and empowering livesa physical educator's quest for
excellence.
And that is, uh, veryaffordable.
It's 2.99 um as a download and9 nine 99 as a paperback.
(05:24):
Um, it's.
It's about a teacher that wasstruggling, a young teacher
that's struggling and he findsmentors to help him along the
way and he teaches, or he getstaught, the PE nine, which are
nine principles that help himalong the way.
Um, I'm really proud of it.
I actually have a sequel that'salready done, just in the final
(05:45):
stages of being edited, and I'mgoing to get that out,
hopefully at the end of thisyear, Just really excited about
it.
So if you want to check thatout, it's basically a PE book in
narration form.
It's like a story form andlearning different, uh, tactical
(06:07):
, you know, tips on how to makeyour program better, and it's
very PE specific.
So definitely a lot of tacticsfor you there.
Um, I also have a along withthat free course.
That video course goes alongwith the book and a workbook,
which is free, that goes alongwith the book as well.
So that is all my book that Iput out and I know you'll love
(06:29):
it.
A lot of people have read itand enjoyed it, so I appreciate
it if you check that out, Allright.
Next we have my courses and Irevamped both these courses.
One is very specific.
It's about setting up a sported unit.
(06:49):
In this case, I do my sport edchookball unit every year with
fifth grade and how I do it.
It's just videos and the PDFsand you know I shared the
checklists and things like thatand, again, super affordable.
If you wanted to get morespecific and on a general note,
my other course is the firstweek of PE, just setting up
(07:12):
everything, and it's a fourvideo course that goes through
everything how to you know setup your classes, how to set up
your.
You know what you do with theequipment and how to write
grants classes, how to set upyour.
You know what you do with theequipment and how to write
grants.
And, um, you know just how togo through your calendar and
(07:34):
your units.
And you know set up your musicand set up your.
You know figure out yoursignals and things like that.
So, and procedures and allsorts of stuff.
So, um, and that has a lot ofgoodies at the end.
That has a lot of PDFs, has alot of goodies at the end.
It has a lot of PDFs, a lot ofextra things like just
checklists and different gamesand things like that.
That I just put right in there.
And I also added a thing if youwant me to, it's an extra kind
(07:57):
of bonus course or a bonus tothe course If you want me to
mentor you.
That's another thing with Zoomcalls.
So that's in the show notes aswell.
All this is in the show notesand so, yeah, I'm excited about
that because I revamped it andadded, just kind of retooled it
and updated a lot of the thingsthere.
So that is my first week of PEcourse, especially if you're a
(08:18):
newer teacher or newer listenerand you want to just add some
extra things to your program.
So that is, those are my twocourses, Again, the Sport Ad
Unit, which is very specific, and the first week of PE, which
is more general, but it coverseverything you need to know and
even some games to play in thefirst week or two of school just
(08:39):
for cooperative learning andteam building, things like that.
All right, so finally, is myTeachers Pay Teachers store.
I have about I think it's inthe 30s of things in there, like
33, 34 things in there, Lots ofPDFs that I mark down to make
sure they're affordable, and Iput a lot of things on sale and
(09:03):
actually some of the videos arein there of the course.
I just talked about justspecific videos, but not the
extra stuff.
If you want to just get thevideo videos of those, there's
four videos.
Like I said, you can get thoseseparately or as a bundle, so
it's a little more affordable.
There is my bag borrow andsteal, or bag borrow what I call
a bag borrow, build and stealequipment a e-book which is in
(09:28):
there as well.
Lots of great things If youneed help with your equipment or
grant writing, things like that.
So that is my Teachers PayTeachers store.
Lots of things in there Againlots of PDFs, lots of strategies
, lots of games, e-books, thingslike that.
So that is, yeah, the finalthing.
Teachers pay teachers.
So I appreciate your help onthat and, yeah, that's the final
(09:49):
boomer.
So now let's talk about yourcowbell tip of the day.
All right, so your tip of theday is not even to necessarily
get something from me althoughI'd love it if you support the
(10:13):
show by purchasing something buteven just free articles or just
get in the game.
I say, put in the work duringsummer break.
Yes, take your time off, rest, enjoy time off, um, rest, enjoy
your family, enjoy your friends, enjoy your life.
But I'd say, uh, don't wait tilllast second to gear up for the
next school year.
You know, always be learning, always be listening to things,
(10:36):
always be creating and, uh, youknow, if it's not for me, from
somebody else, but again, I'dlove if you uh support the show,
getting a $2.99 e-book orsomething like that.
So, thank you, I normally don'tdo this, I don't normally do
this.
I do a lot of free things.
So, just asking for a littlesupport here or to check out any
of this stuff, and thanks,Appreciate it.
(10:58):
So that is your cowbell tip ofthe day.
Thank you everybody for tuningin today.
I really do appreciate it, asalways.
Like I said, go tosupersizefizcom for more
information or check out any ofthe links in the show notes, all
(11:20):
the things I talked about today.
