Today I wanna talk to you about the emotional wooing that happensin recruiting and how to balance it with good objectivity.
Recently I've been working with a candidate who was absolutelyready to make a move, and like any good candidate in today's market.
They are in absolute high demand.

So we were talking through their situation specifically as it relatesto, as they were evaluating the several, two, three, I think, maybe
even four different opportunities that they had in front of them.
Also, let me say, I wanna give some major kudos to banks out therethat are truly starting to understand that this is a recruiting market.

I have seen some banks do a phenomenal job recruiting, not hiring, but recruiting candidates.
Back to my candidate though, as we were going through and looking at all the differentopportunities, one of the comments he had made to me several times throughout the
process is there was a bank he was talking to, he said, Hey, I don't really think
they're for me, but I wanna at least go sit down and see what they have to say.

So we did.
And came back and said, yeah, I'm not really sure they're the one for me.
And we talked about why and he had some good reasons he said, but they wanted me to come backand talk to their regional president, so I'm gonna go back and talk to the regional president.
So we went and spoke to the regional president, came back, same thing.
Yeah.
They're really not for me, but they wanted me to talk to their area.
Executive titles were getting bigger, process was getting longer.

And every time he came back, he said the same thing.
I don't think they're for me.
Had some very good reasons why not.
But what was interesting as a process continued, he really started to lose some of his objectivitybecause the feelings around being wooed in a recruiting process were starting to take over.

Again, it's genius.
This is how people should be recruiting, but it's notgonna lead him to the path of making the right decision.
Thankfully, this candidate was very open-minded and we had some very good dialogueabout trying to get back that objectivity and making a truly principle base decision.

So let me offer this.
I know it's challenging when you get caught up in the courting.
That's what it is.
It feels good.
You feel wanted, your ego gets inflated.
And so for someone to come in and tell us how great we are and how much they love us and how we'regonna change the world in their organization, you wanna believe this and, and, and absolutely.
But again, make sure it's with the right organization and that you have someone that canhelp you maintain that objectivity to make sure you really make a principle based decision.
