Hi, I'm Hans Schlegel, career services manager with tips on how to best perform a career search during this time.

First things first, if you wanna passively or actively start your search, you wanna begin by updating your CV or resume along with tailoring cover letters for each position you're applying to have a professional set of eyes.
Look over everything and make sure you're presenting yourself the best way possible.
Number two.
You'll want to update your professional and social network.

It may be in a while since you last updated your LinkedIn profile, so make sure your dates and experience match your updated resume.
You can also set your LinkedIn profile to open to new opportunities, so hire managers and recruiters can see.
What types of opportunities would you open hearing about?

It may be valuable to review your social profiles.
Facebook, Instagram, and make sure nothing on professional on there.
Number three, tailor your approach and be intentional in who you're communicating with.
Oftentimes, someone who's searching thinks that reaching out to anybody and everybody is the best approach.

Oftentimes though, it comes across, look desperate.
If you're just blasting out LinkedIn messages to every single recruiter, you know, be strategic with who you are.
Reaching out to find talent acquisition or HR titles that the company you're interested in and try directly messaging.

Number four, be patient.
Don't just take the first job that comes to you during this time.
The market has definitely become more competitive, but even so, take your time in evaluating opportunities to make sure you're making a smart move for your long term professional career.
I. Finally, number five, work with the recruiter.

Most of our clients are still hiring and recruiters.
Usually have relationships built with higher managers to help you present you favorably and advocate for you.
Even if employers are a little more hesitant during this time and above all else, protect that attitude.
Things are never as good or as bad as they seem, and all it takes is one company, one person to say yes.

And an attitude of abundance along with patience will help you navigate through this fog and come out on the other side better than you were going into it.
