Daisy Allan, a palawa kani speaker from Tasmania

palawa kani (spelled without capitals) is a language which has been recovered in the form of a syncretion of the original multiple languages which were spoken by Indigenous people in Tasmania, Australia before British settlement, colonization or invasion (choose whichever word seems more appropriate). This process of recovery has been conducted with exhaustive and scholarly research largely carried out by researchers associated with the TAC, the Tasmanian Aboriginal Centre. Daisy speaks about this process and her own experience with speaking this indigenous language.
