(00:22):
Relax and enjoy.
Hey, friends, popping in for animpromptu podcast episode Every
now and then I'm like what do Italk about this week?
And it's funny when messages getrepeated to me and I hear them
in more than one place.
I take that as a sign to payattention and that's the
(00:47):
universe's way of saying hello.
Here's a message for you.
Listen to it.
So I'm going to relay themessage that I heard and I'm
going to share it with youbecause it is perfect for the
holiday season time.
If you're listening in real, real time, or maybe you happen
to visit this as the holidaysare coming up.
(01:08):
At the time of recording, it'sjust the beginning of November
right now and we are in theholiday season, halloween just
happened, we're bracing forThanksgiving and Christmas and
New Year's and in the fitnessworld, this is a really
challenging time for people andI could tell you I struggled
last year, not so much with thefitness routine, but it was more
(01:29):
of a mental state, and I thinkthat's where everybody is, and
the side effect of it is youdon't feel like doing anything,
right?
Um, there's a lot of drain, andI've actually made podcast
episodes about these topics, um,more specifically, but it's
about that drain of theseexpectations that maybe we don't
want to do.
You know, I feel like oldholiday traditions have sort of
(01:52):
evolved and it can be kind ofhard to transition those out,
depending on wherever you're atin your life.
Right Like, I moved across thestate from my family in
Pennsylvania and it's a longdrive home.
It's like five or six hours andthe holiday traffic and just
getting there is horrendous.
So we do meet up for theholidays but it's never like
(02:14):
actually on the day.
It's usually in betweenThanksgiving and Christmas or
maybe a little bit after inJanuary, which is fine.
But it's so different from wheneverybody was so close by and
we would just all meet up and itwas just so easy.
And a lot of you may be goingthrough that.
Maybe you cut ties with certainpeople in your family and it
(02:36):
was for good reason, but youstill feel a little sad, you
can't carry through a tradition,or maybe you feel like you have
to uphold a tradition andyou're afraid to speak out about
it.
You feel like you have to buypresents for everybody you know
and you don't really want to, oryou're stressed out about money
.
There's so many things thatrile us up for the holidays and
I also will say, not a huge fanof being blasted with the Black
Friday.
(02:57):
I think it might be a littlebit better this year, I'm hoping
, but last year in the year of2023, it seemed like they really
took things to the extreme, like 20 billion emails
everywhere.
The deals weren't actually thatgood, but they were just
blasting everybody with stuff.
I've noticed that people areattending.
A couple people, especiallypeople I respect in the fitness
(03:19):
space, are doing some BlackFriday deals earlier, like
September October, some BlackFriday deals earlier like
September October.
There's been some really greatdeals that I've picked up on in
different companies that seem tobe in like September.
So it seems like they're kindof avoiding the Black Friday.
I don't know, but I know I getpersonally burned out on that.
Maybe that's just because I'mlike a highly sensitive person
and I'm just like this is toomuch, I can't, but that I'm kind
(03:42):
of like uh, about even myselfwith presenting offers, I always
try to really think it throughand be like, ah, like, do I
really want to throw anotheroffer at you guys?
So anything that I do is verycarefully calculated and chosen
and I try not to burn you guysout and give you something
that's actually meaningful andactually worth the discount,
right, um?
So?
So we have all of that, whichactually I am in the works of
(04:04):
finalizing a program.
Just a little tidbit here myholiday hustle, which I usually
run every year, but I try torefine it each year and this
year I am refining it even moreto make it even better and more
fitting for the holidays, whereit's not necessarily a weight
loss program but a program toget you through the holidays and
support you through theholidays, so it can show you how
(04:26):
to maintain and adapt healthand fitness routine even during
your busiest times.
To show you how to do that.
Because if you can create afitness routine and maintain it
during the busiest times, moststressful times, then when
things are easy, it's going tobe a breeze.
And then you're going to gointo the new year and it's going
to be like super easy, allright, you're gonna have that
(04:50):
momentum going.
You won't have the extra 10, 20pounds from the thanksgiving
and christmas parties and feastsand leftovers.
So it'll be all good, but sostay tuned for that.
But the message.
Getting back to the messagethat I heard, which I don't know
necessarily how to frame this,I don't know exactly what I want
to call this episode, becauseit's more of a concept than a
concrete thing.
(05:11):
But I will say I have abusiness coach and she shared
this message with our group.
And then I heard this also.
I don't know if you're familiarI'm sure a lot of you are
familiar with the Yellowstoneseries the 18, is it 1899?
I don't remember which one.
It was the 1800s one.
I can't remember the yearspecifically.
(05:32):
Off the top of my head it wassometime in the 1800s, because I
know they have like 1923 andthere's 18 something.
Well, the guy with the whitehair and the big fat mustache,
he plays in a lot of Westernmovies.
Again, I cannot think of hisname.
He has the really deep voice.
He does like the Ford truck, the Ford truck voice.
You're gonna know who I'mtalking about.
(05:53):
Oh, sam Elliott.
That's who it is Sam Elliott.
He is in that series and hemade something that stood out.
And I watched this seriesprobably about a year ago and I
remember my husband was laughingand he was like you need to
follow this advice and like itreally stuck with me.
So it was funny.
When my business coach talkedabout this it kind of like
re-sparked that in my mind.
(06:14):
I was like, oh, oh, yes.
So what this was about is the1800 series with Yellowstone is
they're doing the Oregon Trail.
It's actually reallyinteresting.
It shows their journey to theOregon Trail and Sam Elliott is
one of the guys who is supposedto guide you to the Oregon Trail
.
It's a very treacherous route, very uncharted territory and
(06:37):
American Indians and stuff.
And there was a point where thepeople were kind of panicking.
And there was really pointwhere the people were kind of
panicking and there was reallyno good decision, like one way,
you know, you had consequences.
The other way you hadconsequences.
There was one that didn'treally stand out to the other
and something he said waswhatever you do, make your
(06:59):
decision and stick to it.
Make your decision and stick toit.
Make your decision and stick toit.
And that did hit me right.
And that's the same thing withmy business coach was talking
about.
She was talking about the samething, actually in relation to
the business world at the end ofthe year, which this will
relate to your fitness journeyand life in general.
(07:20):
She was saying you know, as abusiness coach, what do you want
to do at the end of the year?
Do you want to relax for theholidays?
Do you want to put your headdown and do a ton of work?
Do you want to more, like, reflect and kind of just be in
the middle?
What do you want to do?
Whatever you decide, make yourdecision and follow through with
it, stick with it, and I thinkthat's important.
(07:42):
This is important really anytime of year, because I see this
happen a lot.
I don't think many of us thinkabout what we're going to do.
We kind of let our emotionsdictate and outside forces
dictate how we're feeling andwhat we're doing, and we don't
actually sit down and thinkabout things and consciously
make a decision to do it.
And I think we would be a lotmentally better off.
(08:03):
For instance, you know, maybeyou think you're supposed to be
really good, like you weredieting and you lost a lot of
weight, and you're like, oh myGod, I have to keep this diet
going, or I'm in the middle of a75 hard like, but I really
don't want to like deep down.
You're like, I don't want to dodo that.
I just want to have fun with myfamily.
I'm burned out from the year.
I want to relax so I can startfresh in January.
(08:25):
If deep down in your gut that'swhat you feel, then make that
conscious decision to do it andfollow through with it and stick
with it, because then once youknow that, hey, I'm choosing to
rest, there's not really.
It releases that guilt.
It releases that what if?
Because you know that you madethe decision, you weighed your
(08:46):
options.
Everything has consequences, every choice has consequences,
every choice has benefits.
You made your decision.
And also I want to reiterate, because my business coach
reiterated to me is that thereis no bad decision and this goes
for life in general.
I mean, whatever decision youchoose, whatever choice you
(09:07):
choose, a lot of the times likesometimes there might be a less
favorable decision, but in thisinstance I mean I feel like
it'll be clear, it's veryindividualized, so maybe for
your unique situation there'llbe a clear worse decision and a
clear better decision.
It's kind of whatever you wantto do, the are one is going to
weigh, outweigh the cons, um,but again, it's person to person
(09:29):
.
I can't say that everybodyshould sit on their butt and
relax, because some peoplegenuinely might benefit from
pushing their boundaries alittle bit.
Um, that's why I say a lot withwith navigating the holidays.
You know, someone saying yes totwo slices of pie might be a
win because they've beenseverely under eating, they've
(09:50):
been barely hitting 1200calories and they need that food
.
And then for somebody elsewho's a binge eater and they
can't lose the weight, saying noto that second slice of pie
might be a win.
So it's very unique to your ownsituation and really, at the
end of the day, only you canmake that decision for yourself.
So I need you to do someinternal work, look inside
(10:13):
yourself, listen to yourintuition a little bit and think
what do I want to do?
What is your goal for thisholiday season?
Take a few minutes, maybe, evenif it's on your ride to work,
just shut off everything andthink about it when you're
driving in the car, go.
Okay, you know what are mygoals this holiday season.
Do I want to push towardssomething?
Am I maybe just in maintenance?
(10:34):
I know a lot of my clients arein maintenance, and that's again
not saying it's right or wrong, but that allows you to kind of
stay the same body weight wise.
But you're working towardsfitness goals and you're still
maintaining a routine which Ithink a lot of lifestyle people
would benefit from.
Some of you may just literallytake a break, which again is
okay.
You don't even want to dealwith the gym and stuff, but
(10:55):
you're still going to like, inthe back of your mind, be
mindful.
I would not encourage sayingscrew it and just eating
whatever you want.
But you know, just being moremindful about things.
But you're just going to kindof take a break and then again,
some of you may have specificgoals.
I just had a client sign upwith me the other day and she is
kind of just starting a cut andwe're gonna you know, we're
gonna do that sustainablythroughout the holidays.
(11:17):
Okay, so it's all person toperson, all situation to
situation.
At the end of the day, it comesdown to what, what works for
you in this moment.
Pick the decision and stick toit.
