Speaker 1 (00:00):
So what is your growth DNA Right?
We want to grow as people, ascompanies.
Growth is scary, difficult, exciting, uncertain, because
it's future oriented, obviously.
So I have learned that itreally helps to be thoughtful,
mindful, intentional about thegrowth DNA, both inside you as a

(00:23):
human being and inside yourcompany, as a team of humans, as
a group of people and processes, so to speak.
I think of a couple ways, acouple good ways to define DNA.
There's, of course, jim Collins, in the book Good to Great,

(00:43):
talks about the Hedge concept, which is sort of these three
overlapping circles of a Venndiagram where you have what are
you really good at, skilled at,what are your capacities
pursuing, passionately,dedicating the company to?
And, number three, what is theeconomic unit that sort of

(01:11):
drives it?
So it's that flywheel orthree-circle-bend diagram I have
taken through companies andteams, through what I call you
know, very similar, by the way,to the hedgehog concept, what I
call the love can need.
Think about what you love, arepassionate about what you can do

(01:34):
and are really good at doing, and then what is there need for
in the marketplace that you wantto use to sort of drive the
virtuous cycle.
And then I think, personallyyou know, as human beings we
want to be very aware of our DNAin terms of growth and like.

(01:59):
For me, the convergence of skilland passion is my vocation,
right, and my vocation ishelping people, teams and
companies to grow, to growmyself as a human being.
So you know the skill part.
I am good at seeing.

(02:22):
You know connecting dots andseeing and developing also
processes and taking thoseprocesses from beginning all the
way through execution untilit's done right.
I am passionate about preparingfor situations and then

(02:44):
remaining curious so we can sortof weave and bob, as we, you
know, go through the process andyou know, so we can be flexible
on the tactical stuff and andrigid on the strategic overall
goals.
So the idea of skill pluspassion equals location is the

(03:08):
way I think about my personaland professional DNA as it grows
and expands through Sherpa, andI would just encourage you to
think about how you woulddescribe your DNA, because I
think being able to describe ithelps you live and grow and

(03:32):
execute to your fullest possiblepotential.
By the way, I am taking thisvideo in Amsterdam this morning
because I had a little break inthe schedule and to me, travel
is forever passion.
So figure out what yourpassions are and be very mindful

(03:57):
and intentional about livingthose to the fullest.
I would love to hear some ofyour thoughts on what you know.
You might disagree with some ofthe things I said.
You might have other ideas.
Put them in the comment section.
