behind-the-scenes stories tomake wedding and event planning
a breeze.

(00:26):
Hey guys, welcome back to theTipsy Guest.
I am Marco, your host, andtoday it's a very special
episode because we are going tobe talking to Swanee from New
Bramfels Wedding Guide.
How are you today?
I'm good.
Oh my gosh, I am so excited tohave you here.
I've had vendors every week,but I feel like you're a whole

(00:48):
other level of vendor.
I mean, you own the NewBrunfels Wedding Magazine.
You are the mastermind behindit.
So congratulations, of course,on that.
Thank you.
So talk to me.
How long have you been inbusiness?
What do you do?
Tell us everything.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Okay, so we launched September of 2018.
Okay, so this coming up,december 8th, will be our fourth
annual Bridal Jubilee.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
Which is exactly what we're here to talk about,
Because it's already coming upthis Sunday, oh my goodness.
So talk to me about that.
Who is at this event?
I mean, what is it for?
I want our listeners to knoweverything.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Okay, Okay, we are going to be at the Wurstfest
property in New Braunfels, Texas, and so the event we are

(02:04):
showcasingides to be and theirguests to come and just enjoy
the day with us, it's you know,it's a bride affair.
I love it, yeah, no, becauseit's a bridal fair.
But, Marco, it's honestly ourbrides tell have told us that

(02:31):
it's really so much more.
It's it's they feel celebrated,they feel it's unlike any
experience they've had at anyfair bridal fair they've been to
.
And that's our goal is tocelebrate our guest.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
I like that because sometimes you know, when couples
go, I've done wedding fairs foryears and years and years with
my photo booth business and Ialways feel like sometimes it's
a little overwhelming becausethere are so many vendors and
you know sometimes they justwant to grab a flyer and walk
away from you versus takingtheir time, you know, trying to
get, you know to talk to eachvendor.

(03:13):
So right now that you mentioned, you know that it's more of a
celebration and they're there, you know, to have fun, but still
, you know, try to find vendorsfor their big day.
That sounds really, really goodand I think it's always fun,
like the times that I've donewedding shows with my photo
booth company, it's always sogood to see all different stages

(03:34):
of the engagement.
You know, sometimes people justgot engaged, sometimes the
wedding is just around thecorner, sometimes they're like
right in the middle with, youknow, with sometimes still to
keep planning.
So what have you seen at yourspecific show?
What do you think it's recentlyengaged couples Is it a little

(03:56):
bit of a mix?
What have you seen?

Speaker 2 (04:01):
You know we see a range.
We have brides Some of ourguests are there with just
staring down their wedding justa few months out.
And then we have brides therethat, believe it or not, that
are two years out.
That are two years out weddings.

(04:23):
So they're just excited aboutthe engagement and are ready to
get started on the planningprocess.
And so we've just had a widerange of brides.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
I love that.
And when it comes to thevendors, I know you mentioned
that you're going to have a lotof different vendors at the show
.
Do you limit the categories forvendors, or is it just
everybody's there, let's say, like four photo booths, five
photographers, fivevideographers, venues?

(05:01):
How do you, I guess, controlthat?

Speaker 2 (05:05):
Well, first off, the invitation to be because we feel
like we are the premier bridalfair in the Texas Hill Country.
The initial invitations to be apart of Bridal Jubilee go out
to the vendors on New BraunfelsWedding Guide and then from

(05:26):
there we send it out and make itpublic and yes, we do.
I am very careful to.
I don't want the showoverloaded with one area of the
industry.
So after three photographers orthree or four photographers,

(05:56):
then we try to start looking formaybe something unique to fill
in.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Okay, okay, I like that, and then the show is going
to be from what time to whattime?

Speaker 2 (06:10):
It is from 12 to 4.
Okay, perfect, perfect time, midday, I like that, and so, of
course, we'll be giving prizesall day.
Mike, with Southern Gentlemen,is our emcee and he is fabulous.
He truly knows how to keep theparty going on, he will make it

(06:31):
fun he does, he'll have thewhole room dancing with him at
some point in the day.
I love that so we'll be givenprizes throughout the day, and
then we have two grand prizesthat will be given at the end of
the day, and then we have twogrand prizes that um will be
given at the end of the day, andbrides know they must be

(06:54):
present to win that was going tobe my question, yeah yes, and
so um and so what this is.
the other unique thing aboutbridal jubilee for me is our
brides come and they stay.
I mean they don't slide in.
We have our guests show up at12, and they are there till

(07:19):
closing time.
And you know, I credit that toour vendors.
Our vendors, I mean they showup ready to serve.
They truly, truly do.
Their heart is to celebrate thebrides and they do such a

(07:43):
fabulous job at that, job atthat, and so they're just um,
they, they, uh, so our, oursuccess I credit to the fabulous
vendors that we, we uh, have onboard each year I like that.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
Yeah, it's so good to to have a good team.
You know, to have a group ofprofessionals, um, you know, uh,
some there's some new vendorsout there, there's some really
very experienced vendors.
So it's always good to have agreat team and it sounds like
your show is just the place tobe.
It is, I like it.

(08:23):
I like it.
So, when it comes to the rightnow that you mentioned, the
couples stay until the end, because obviously that's when
you do the giveaways.
Are there any activities goingon other than just the vendors?
Do you have anything else goingon that people can, you know,
stay and mingle?

(08:44):
And of course, you know there'sfood, there's drinks and things
like that, but is thereanything else that you guys
offer other than the vendors forthe couples?

Speaker 2 (08:50):
well, you'll be there well, of course we will make it
fun, we will interview peopleso we're very excited about that
, about having tipsy gueststhere yeah, thank you so and I I
look forward to seeing how ourcouples interact with you and

(09:11):
you know the responses you getfrom them about the event.
I look forward to hearing allthat, yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
So, just so that our listeners know.
So we're going to bring this.
The Tipsy Guest Studio is goingto be at the show this Sunday,
so make sure that you stop by.
Once you talk to the vendors, you'll come to me.
We're going to bring this.
The tipsy guest studio is goingto be at the show this sunday,
so make sure that you stop by.
Once you talk to the vendors, you'll come to me, you'll come
to the studio and we can talkeverything weddings, you know, I
want to get the 411 on who theybooked and who they liked, and

(09:44):
if they took photos at the photobooths or if they you know just
everything they did throughoutthe show.
They'll come talk to me afterand then we'll do interviews,
we'll have giveaways, we'll havesome fun and then, of course,
the big part of the show, whichis the giveaways at the end.
I like that.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Well, we will be giving prizes throughout the day
, but the the two grand prizes, the uh five day, four night uh
trip to cancun oh all inclusive,uh, cancun trip, and then, um,
and then we also give away abridal shower valued at around

(10:25):
thirteen thousand dollars.
What, yeah, it's fabulous.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
So I guess, for they to sign up for the grand prize.
How do they sign up for that?
Is it just by showing uppurchasing the tickets, or how
does that work?

Speaker 2 (10:39):
Well, that's a good question, because this year to
be eligible to be in the drawingfor the grand prizes you have
to book.

Speaker 1 (10:51):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (10:52):
You have to book vendors.
So this year our focus has beennot just come and be celebrated
and enjoy the day, but come, find and book the vendors you
need to plan the Hill CountryWedding of your dreams.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
I love that, and do they?
Let's say, for example, if theybook more than one vendor, do
they get different entries forthe giveaway?
They do, oh, okay.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
For every vendor they book, they get a ticket in the
drawing for the grand prizes.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
I love that because that way, you're also giving
incentives to the vendors.
They're getting the bookings, the couples are obviously
getting their vendors, and thenthey get a ticket for the
honeymoon.
It's a win-win.
Everybody wins.
That's right.
I love that.
I love Cancun Speaking ofCancun.
I love that.
I love Cancun Speaking ofCancun.

(11:49):
And you know now that I meanpeople always ask me again going
back, because I travel a lot.
We were talking off the airearlier how I love to travel and
I think Cancun is one of myfavorite places to visit.
Cancun and Tulum, like I go afew times a year, really, and I
feel like the weather is justalways good.
I mean you can either go relax, you can go party, you can do.

(12:12):
There's so much to do.
I mean, if you're adventurous, there's so many parks that you
can go to like just wateradventures, like it is.
So I love cancun just ingeneral.
So I I'm excited for thecouples that are going to sign
up for this giveaway.
Yeah, and before you did the,you know, before you started the

(12:34):
wedding, you know all thewedding business.
What is your background?
What did you do before?

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Well, I was a fourth grade elementary teacher.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Oh my gosh, that is so cool.
And what made you switch gears?

Speaker 2 (12:52):
so I, I, after 31 years in the classroom, I
decided that, um, you know thatit was just time to, uh, to make
a change.
And and when I did retire, Ijust kind of fell into the
wedding planning businessbecause I'd been doing my gift

(13:13):
is hospitality and so I'd beendoing weddings as an adult well,
for most of my adult life, freefor family and friends.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
And so.

Speaker 2 (13:24):
I thought why not make it a business?
You know why not Make thatmoney?
So I started my own weddingplanning business and just fell
in love with the vendors in thearea and just found that I had a
heart to champion local weddingvendors.

(13:49):
And um and so I, from therecame new brunfels wedding guy I
love that, yeah, like it's.

Speaker 1 (13:59):
So it's so great to to connect and to help local
businesses.
I think it's a great way youknow to to just I mean it just
to not necessarily give back tothe community, but I feel like I
mean because obviously yourvendors are local.
So I like that that you supportlocal businesses and it's more

(14:23):
than just a magazine, it is acommunity.
You have your trusted vendors, and then now with the show as
well, so I think it is, um, youknow, it's so good that that you
, as as a, as the organizer, that you put this type of shows
for for couples, you know, because it planning can be
stressing you know it is sostressing sometimes and and

(14:46):
you're facilitating all thesevendors for them, you putting
them face to face with them sothat they can, you know, get
familiar with their work, and itjust makes them feel
comfortable because, yeah, youknow you go to somebody's
website and you see their workand you like it and you want to
book them.
But I feel like talking face toface with vendors it's a great

(15:06):
way to feel more comfortablewhen booking somebody for their
big day.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
I agree, and you know so we are.
We do publish an annualmagazine and actually our guest
at Bridal Jubilee will get thisyear's, will be the first to get
this year's edition of ourmagazine, to get this year's

(15:33):
edition of our magazine.
But, as you probably know, onDecember 1st we have rebranded
to the Hills Wedding Guide.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Yes, and so you know I've learned that connecting
vendor to vendor is just awin-win for everybody.
I think the best way for me toserve my vendors on UBOMP are

(16:03):
the Hills Running Guide.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
It's fresh, it's new.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
It's new it is, but anyway.
So we are heading west, we aregoing to take our local vendors
and connect them with vendorsout in Bernie and Fredericksburg
and maybe even Kerrville, andso we're very excited about what

(16:31):
2025 has in store.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
I love that and I mean I was reading an article
the other day where I mean thewedding industry is not going
anywhere.
I mean it just keeps gettingbigger and bigger and bigger.
It's true it is, and so that'sso good that you're expanding
and you're trying to cover, youknow, central.
You know, like our centralTexas area.
I love that.

(16:54):
You know I've worked several, you know, wedding shows
throughout the years and again,as I mentioned earlier, I feel
like it's fun, sometimesoverwhelming, but I think they
are very helpful.
You know, I feel like you cango as a brand new engaged couple
.
I feel like you can go to oneof these shows and you can

(17:15):
pretty much book everyone foryour wedding.
And the good thing, also forvendors, is I don't know if it's
something that you recommend toyour vendors or if you not
necessarily have them do it, butare there any, I guess, rules
or requirements for the vendorsto have some sort of like
special during the show?

(17:36):
Like, what's your advice onthat, so that our listeners know
, you know, do vendors normallyhave a good special if they go
to the show?

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Most of the time they do.
Most vendors do have a special.
They provide for couples thatbook that day okay and so so
that's another win yeah, forsure they're getting.
They're getting the vendorspecial as well as getting their
uh, you know, a ticket in thedrawing for the grand prizes.

(18:05):
But, um, yes, so I find thatmost vendors do come ready to
and every vendor who will beparticipating will have donated
a special prize.
That will be just by coming inthe door you get your entry

(18:28):
ticket in for those drawingsthat'll be happening throughout
the day.
Yeah, and so yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
Okay, well, it sounds like a like a full, like a day,
full of different activitiesand adventures and, and you know
, again, a great way to meetwith vendors.
Is there anything, anythingelse that you want to, that you
want to make sure our listenersknow on what to expect for the
show this Sunday, anything thatyou can think of?

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Well, just come ready to have the time of your life,
come ready to experiencesomething new and different, to
be celebrated, and to find andbook the vendors you need, and
I'll be at the door ready Sayinghi to everyone.

(19:20):
Ready to greet you.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
Yes, I love it.
I love it.
And is there anything, anyadvice that you would give our
couples attending the show tomake the most out of their
experience?
Is there, do you?
I don't know.
Should they make a spreadsheetso that they can be a little bit
more organized?
How is the flow of the show?
Or like the showroom, I guess.
How are they going to get totalk to everyone?

(19:46):
How does that work?

Speaker 2 (19:47):
Oh, wow.
So this year we are doingsomething very different.
Our room is designed in a maze.
So, when the Brights enter, ourguests enter, they will travel
this maze throughout the room.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
So it's a one-way street, it's a one-way street I
love that that takes them byevery single vendor.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
And so, which is going to be, which?
It gives our vendors anopportunity to speak with every
guest, but also it gives youknow brides aren't going to miss
anything, they're going to be.
When they get to the end, they're going to have seen it
all.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
And know who they need to go back and talk to a
second time, maybe, or whatever.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
I like that.
I like that a lot becausesometimes, when it's just a
bunch of different aisles andeverybody's going in different
directions that's, I think, whenit gets a little overwhelming
Because sometimes, or most ofthe time, they skip a lot of the
vendors.
So having a one-way street Ithink it's the best way to do it
.
They get a chance to see everysingle vendor.

(21:05):
And then, of course, it's greatfor the vendors because they
get seen.
You know, sometimes I'venoticed where you know a vendor
might have three or four couplesat their booth, but then you
see the other vendor next tothem and there's like nobody
there.
So so I think this is greatbecause that way everybody gets
seen.
The couples have more optionsbecause they get to see every
single person.

(21:26):
I absolutely love that.
I think that is a great way todo it, love it it.

Speaker 2 (21:31):
Yes, we're excited about the plan, so we think it's
going to be great too and, likeI said, good for guests, good
for vendors.

Speaker 1 (21:40):
Absolutely love it.
Well, thank you so much foryour time.
Again, it was great having youhere and I cannot wait for this
weekend to see you, to meet withall the couples and have fun
and just see what they book andwhat the it's going to be.
It's going to be great.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
Well, having you there is going to be, it's going
to be a treat, and so thank youso much for having me here
today.
And so, and if guests want toknow more about what's going on
with Bridal Jubilee, they can goto theheelsweddingguidecom.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Perfect.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
And there they'll find the guide of all our
vendors that are with uscurrently, and also learn more
about Bridal Jubilee.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Fabulous, and we'll make sure to include all of that
information in the show notes.
Um, check out the blog for thisepisode, which is now live on
our website, which is atipsyguestcom.
Again, thank you so much.
We'll see you sunday.
And to our listeners please, please, please, stop by the
studio that we'll have at theshow, which is going to be

(22:49):

going to be really, really fun.
We'll have surprises for you,we'll have giveaways and it's
just going to be fun.
Interviews and videos andcontent, and it's just going to
be a party.
