Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to the Tipsy Guest Podcast.
I am your host, marcoBuenrostro, and every week I'm
here with the top industryexperts, amazing clients and all
my vendor BFFs to bring you thebest tips, advice and juicy
behind-the-scenes stories tomake wedding and event planning
a breeze.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
So grab your favorite drink and let's get this party
started.

Speaker 1 (00:40):
Of course.
I mean, there was just so muchto talk about last week that we
just couldn't get it into oneepisode.
So thank you for, you know, taking some time to be here.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
Oh my gosh.
Of course I'm so glad to behere.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Yeah, so, okay.
So last week you know we were, you know we were chatting all
about vendors and, and you know, your wedding date and all of
that stuff.
But let's talk about more ofthe planning process.
Okay, um, I know you mentionedlast week, you know, that you
have your spreadsheet and thensome things move up on the list
depending on the budget and allthat stuff.
So I guess you know, we want tomake sure that our listeners

(01:14):
you know that are also engagedand going through the same thing
that you are.
You know, I know it can bestressful, so let's uh, you know
, throw some information to them.
Let's let's let me, I guess, dive into your process of of
planning.
I mean, how did you get started?
I mean, I know you mentioned aspreadsheet at one point.

(01:35):
Did you have to, like, read anybooks?
Or I mean, I know Pinterest isyour BFF right now, but, like,
how are you you getting inspired?
What are some of the resourcesthat you're using, yeah, to come
up with all the stuff that youthat you have going on for your
wedding?

Speaker 2 (01:50):
yeah, I didn't read any books, I was actually just
kind of on pinterest, and then Iwas on youtube a little bit and
then tiktok, actually myalgorithm flipped itself to be
all about weddings.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah, and so then?

Speaker 2 (02:01):
people and they were talking about a lot of tips and
tricks and so I started likelooking into tips and tricks
that they were talking about andtexting my friends and so just
kind of little by little, Ithink a lot of it starts with
just like I have never,obviously I've just I've never
had a wedding before, I've neverplanned a wedding, and it's
just definitely a different timethan when my parents got
married.
So it was really looking intolike what is this even cost

(02:22):
nowadays, like how does thiseven work?
So it was a lot of like wedidn't know how to prioritize
the budget because we didn'teven know what things costed yet
so we had to really look intoall that.
First, luckily, my fiance foundum this like pre-made template
that someone had shared and itwas like a budget, like a budget
planner, and so it shows you, like on a spreadsheet, like
where most of your money isgoing okay and as you fill, you

(02:45):
fill it in.
It like adds it up, but it hadall of the things written out
for us already.
So then stuff that we hadn'teven thought about was on there.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Look at him, finding resources for you.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Look at him that he just did all of this.
He's like look what I found andhe like shared it with me.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
That is so funny, this is that is so cool, because
there's a lot of stuff that wedidn't think about.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
We for some reason did not think about invitations.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
What?
How are people going to knowabout your wedding?

Speaker 2 (03:08):
And then, save the dates, and then just a bunch of
different stuff that was on thespreadsheet.
We were like, oh yeah, we haveto think about that.
We haven't thought about it yeteither, and so then we started
sending out inquiries todifferent people.
So where is most of your goingto?
It seems to be the reception, because my hall, which is the
preserve at canyon lake, forthose of you who saw last week

(03:28):
um, they have you do the barin-house, and so the bar and the
venue are a lot of it, and sois the food.
So, like the food's kind of inour spreadsheet, it's kind of
wrapped in a reception, becauseall that's happening together,
yeah, so that's where most ofthe money is going and I mean
that makes sense.
Yeah, I mean because youdefinitely need a venue, right,
you need to feed people and then, of course, they need to drink
yeah, so all of that's wrappedinto one price and so when you

(03:51):
look at the spreadsheet it'slike one big bar there, and then
all the rest of them are liketeared down and then what are
some of the things, for example, that you want to have?

Speaker 1 (04:02):
but there's?
They're kind of like at thebottom of your list and you're
like, okay, so maybe if there'sany budget left then we can have
or add this to the wedding.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
Oh yeah, that's a great question because we have
been like shuffling thingsaround a lot.
We really love seeing all thecustom dance floors on
Instagrams and stuff.
That's another thing.
All the venues that you followtag all the vendors and that's
another really helpful resourceinto looking into stuff like
that.
So that's what we were findingout about custom dance floors
and we found out there and wewere like, oh man, like that is

(04:33):
a lot of money that we might putelsewhere first before we would
put into the dance I think, Ithink a dance floor is so
beautiful it photographs amazing.
I totally agree.
I can't quite get my fiance onboard yet, but we both.
I really want it.
He knows we want it.
It's just on.
It's lower on the list.
Keep showing him the videos,Right.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Keep showing him and he'll come around, and he was
like we need to put something,he goes.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
We don't need a custom one, we just need a dance
floor.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
About you guys.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
You know, we're just our initials or something.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Something cool, yeah, something cool, Like if you end
up getting like a monogram orjust part of the design of your
wedding in general.
It's so nice when everything iscustom, Like, for example, with
us with the photo booth.
You know whenever the bridesask me like, hey, what are the
printouts going to look like?
Or what's the overlay of the 360video going to look like,

(05:27):
depending on what machine theyget.
I always tell them I'm like, hey, we customize everything to
each individual event.
I love that.
So my recommendation is alwayswhy don't you send me a copy of
your invitation or a copy of anyof the signage that you have
already for your wedding, and wecan work around that to make
sure that our design matches therest of your design.

Speaker 2 (05:49):
So that everything is cohesive.
Yeah, that makes so much sense.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
That way, when it prints out, the guests don't
feel it looks just like it andthey'll be like, oh my god, this
looks just like the dance floor, or this just looks like the
invitation, or like the table onon the sign on the table and
things like that.
It's just a, a unique, you know, like d like small details that
puts everything together and itmakes your wedding so just
unique and beautiful I agreethat's really cool.

(06:14):
I was actually looking at yourwebsite and all the different
photo booths and stuff and Inoticed that each gallery that
you had had a different emblem, and that's what I was like you
just talked about that, but Iwas like, oh, I guess they're
all custom, yeah everything iscustom and most of the time, you
know, I always get thatquestion Can you send me some
samples?
I'm like I can send you samples, but just think of it, you know
, yours is going to lookcompletely different.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Right, you know you're going to match the vibe
no-transcript letting me know.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
I would have never thought of sending you a copy of
my imitation or anything else, but this is perfect, because now
it looks just like the rest ofthe stuff it all flows, yeah,
yeah we don't want to just givethem a random.
You know your name and date andthat's it you know, unless want
something very minimalist, andthey're okay with that.
But we really like to customizestuff yeah it totally makes

(07:13):
sense, and I think a customdance floor is definitely
something that makes the eventlook really unique.

Speaker 2 (07:21):
I think so too.
Especially, it really elevatesthe space that all of your
guests are going into and itcenters it.
So I'm very for it.
That's really cool.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
I love the floor plan at the preserve.
I mean, it is so open, it's sobig it is, it has like all these
windows, and then when you lookto the right side and you see
the staircase, it's juststunning.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
I agree.
You look one side and it's thebeautiful staircase.
Look at the other side, andit's the beautiful staircase.

Speaker 1 (07:47):
Look at the other side and it's a big fireplace.
It's just beautiful.
It's beautiful.
You picked the perfect venuefor a December wedding.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
I'm so excited to have it there.
I'm so excited.
I was just hoping thateverybody else loved it too, and
they did immediately.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
We're out there all the time.
I mean, we do weddings at thePreserve all the time and it is
one of our favorite venues to goto.
I think it is so well thoughtout.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Every time I go there I'm like this is so well
thought out, just like the waythe driveway wraps around the
parking lot, like every littledetail.
You can tell was really thoughtout.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
And even for vendors, for us, that we have to go load
in and load out at the end ofthe event.
It is so easy to get to thepreserve.
I think they thought about thattoo.
They did Like it is so coolthat you know when venues, and
especially, yeah, venues whenthey think about every little
detail that will make a weddingeasy for the couple, but also

(08:36):
the vendors I mean we play a bigrole at every wedding and them
making it easy for us to be ableto get in and out of the venue
so quick.
I love the preserve for that.
It is so cool yeah all right.
So bachelorette party okay, Iknow you mentioned last week you
are getting married around thesame time as your bff and you

(08:58):
guys are having a.
You're having it together.
What's that talk?

Speaker 2 (09:01):
to me about that.
Yes, we haven't put too muchthought into it yet.
We both created separatespreadsheets um, like google
forms, to send to our bridalparties and both of us on there,
because this is before we haddecided to have it together.
Both of us had a checklist oflike pick any places that you
think would be super fun to havea bachelor, and we put like 12.
And then she had the same thingon hers.
She put like 12, I put like 12,and so, like our, our different

(09:23):
parties, which are mostlyoverlapping they're most of the
same people, which is why wethought let's just have it
together why not?

Speaker 1 (09:28):
but?

Speaker 2 (09:29):
they were checking similar things.
So now we're looking all overthe place for, like it seems
like everybody wants to do likebeachy and warm and coastal.
So we think we're pushingtowards a coastal because we
want our like our, our friends,to have a really good time too,
like let's all go somewhere thatlike not everyone's been to a
billion times.
Let's go somewhere new, likefor all of us.
So and uh, are you guys doingjust like a girl strip, it will

(09:50):
be a girl strip it seems likeit's gonna be her party and my
party and that's about it, butit might end up because my
party's six and then, with me,seven, and then her party's five
and then hers, but we haveoverlapping, so you know what I
mean.
I haven't figured out the exactnumber, but it's probably
around like 14 people so can youtell me maybe like just two
places that's on your list?
tulum is one of them oh my goshtulum is one of them.
For sure.

(10:11):
We're having a hard timefiguring out how to get in and
out, like flying andeverything's like connecting,
and then you have to taxi forlike 30 minutes.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
So we're trying to figure it out but now tulum has
its own airport, though oh, doesit yeah so before you used to
fly to cancun and then there waslike a what Like an hour drive
to Tulum.
Now they have their own airport.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
Okay, we didn't know that.
We'll look into that.
Yeah, you definitely have tolook at that because now it's.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
I don't know if it's a direct flight, but now they
have their own airport.

Speaker 2 (10:37):
At least you go straight into it and you can go
straight to the resort.
So that's one of them.
The other one we area, um, likea very coastal summer oh my
gosh, we love it.
It was like a really big thingon tiktok because the summer I
turned pretty, it like felt likethat vibe.
I don't know if you saw thatshow that came out I haven't,
but I am obsessed with maine.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
Are you obsessed?
I've always wanted to go tomaine and I I've been doing
cruises lately, like I just wentto a cruise to alaska, to japan
, and uh we were looking it was.

Speaker 2 (11:07):
it was's a long boat ride it was.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
It was a 19-day cruise, Wow, but it was stunning
.
But the cruise line that I use, which is Norwegian, they have a
cruise that goes to like Ithink it's from New York up to
like Maine and somewhere upthere.
And I really want to do that one.
And actually last night I wasjust watching a movie that came
out on.
It's October time of thisrecording.
So there was a new movie thatcame out last night on Max.

(11:32):
It's a scary movie and it'sbased out of Maine.
It's a little town in Maine soI don't know, for some reason
I've been getting a lot of Mainevideos on TikTok as well, it
looks so pretty, it looks clean.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
I don't know how to even describe it, but it looks
like crisp, like crisp air youknow and everyone posts their
food and they have all like the,the crab and the lobster and
stuff and I'm like this justlooks so fun.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
I mean, tulum and Maine are two complete different
things completely differentvibes, but I feel like I don't.
I wouldn't know which one topick.
I know we're trying to we'revibe or anything like that, so I
was just gonna say I was likehow do you feel about you know,
because I know right nownashville is very popular for
bachelor parties.
I know um, scottsdale is reallypopular and then, of course,

(12:13):
vegas.
It's always going to be popular.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
We looked at scottsdale a little bit too.
We all went to college at utaustin, so we went to six street
a lot and so nashville and likethe different places, like that
in vegas, like it feels kind oflike six.
We've done it a lot, so we'relike let's do something
different.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
Let's do for sure something really fun and so and
are you guys girls trip and areyou guys gonna plan like the
whole like matching, you know, like t-shirts and hats and
things like that, I bet we do.

Speaker 2 (12:40):
My friend is more of the planner I I love like
sending inspiration and stuff, but she loves doing stuff.
She absolutely lives for thattype of stuff it's always so fun
when I see groups little giftsand little shirts and like.
There'll be themes and I don'tknow what things.
We haven't talked about themesyet, but we'll definitely do a
lot of themed stuff.
We, we both, really enjoyhosting themed events.
So I love that our bacheloretteparty will probably have a

(13:01):
theme every day that is so cool.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
I love you know.
Anytime I go to vegas, a lot um, and every time I see groups of
girls just celebrating thebachelorette party.
It's so much fun.
It looks like it's so much fun.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
It does.
I've actually been to a partythat was like a bachelorette,
that was in Nashville and inVegas, and they were both so so
so fun.
So so, so, so fun.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
That is so cool.
So does your fiance.
Does he already have plans forhis bachelor?

Speaker 2 (13:26):
party.
Does he already have plans forhis bachelor party?
He is so funny.
He all he knows is that hewants to do a golf trip and he
wants there to be two differentdays where they're golfing the
whole day.
That is his exact words.
Like I want there to be twodays where we're just golfing
the whole day.
I'm like okay, like have fun.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
I mean, where could they?
I mean, I guess they can goanywhere, really course.

Speaker 2 (13:48):
So when I had told him like we were for before we
combined it together, I wasthinking about Scottsdale
because I was like that's unique, I haven't been over there.
And he's like, oh, like, maybethat's a good place for my group
to go so we can go golf overthere, because he was already
thinking like a Utah, like areally beautiful area to go golf
in or Arizona, like Scottsdale,so he doesn't really know yet,
but he's like he can find abeautiful golf course anywhere.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
He watches all the tours and stuff all the pga
tours yeah, so I'm sure likethey're gonna find somewhere
like I'm sure, like it's acomplete different vibe.
You know like what?
Like the way they're gonna plantheirs and then what you guys
are planning?

Speaker 2 (14:17):
there's gonna be no planning on their behalf.
They're just gonna go, they'rejust gonna show up and play with
their clubs and that's it thatis so funny it is.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
It's so crazy.
I mean I I'm sure you guys aregonna have a blast.
Whichever you know place youend up selecting, make sure you
keep me updated on that.
I would love to see where youguys end up going we will
definitely be posting iteverywhere so are you?
I mean because I know likenowadays a lot of uh couples
share their journey as they'replanning the wedding.
Are you sharing any of yourstuff, like on your tiktok or

(14:46):
anything like that?
I?

Speaker 2 (14:47):
have not started that yet, but I have started
recording stuff, so I'm reallyexcited.
Like one of the things I'm mostexcited for is I'm getting my
mom's wedding dress redone, ohand so I'm redoing.
It's gonna be short, it's gonnabe like cutesy little sleeves
versus like hers is huge likefor your main dress or no?
no, it's gonna be for like acourthouse dress okay I'll
probably wear it, maybe forrehearsal dinner or something
like that, that's cute so that'sone of the things that, like, I

(15:10):
have been recording little bylittle so I can put a big
compilation video together whenit's finally done, like the
process of like me getting herdress that is such a cool idea I
got shoes in the middle of theday and I recorded my like um
like unboxing unboxing it.
Yeah, exactly, and I justrecorded my fiance we both made
his little groomsmen boxestogether, so I recorded that.
So like I'm starting to recordit I just haven't put anything

(15:32):
out yet because I want them tobe like I want different clips.
Oops, I want different clips.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
Accidents.
This is television radiopodcast.
She's a little tipsy.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
You know it's a tipsy guest.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
That is so cool.
You know, I'm really excited,excited.
I keep saying it, but I amreally actually excited for you.
It sounds like you guys arehaving so much fun it has been
so much fun.

Speaker 2 (15:54):
While it's stressful, it's really, really fun to
think about.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Like, once you finally get it all set in stone,
it's so fun preparing and sofun doing all the activities
leading up to it what are youruh and I know you mentioned a
little bit of uh, of uh, theprocess of you know, like, like,
setting your budget fordifferent things.
What has there been?
One thing that it was part ofyour list and then you just
completely got rid of it?

Speaker 2 (16:16):
hmm, that's a good point.
That's a really good question.
The dance floor we haven'tgotten rid of it.
It just it was part of the listand then it moved because we
weren't sure originally we had avideographer and then we we
decided we we decided we mightnot need a videographer Because
we really don't value I don'tknow.
We weren't really sure wherethat fell on the list.

(16:38):
We knew photography was thebiggest one, but we were like,
do we want a five-minute?

Speaker 1 (16:43):
What about a content creator?
Right now, the content creatorsare so popular.
Have you seen those?

Speaker 2 (16:47):
I've been looking so that's something that kind of
switched, especially when we sawthe prices of the videographers
.
I think they do beautiful, beautiful work and so that's why
they're so expensive, but inour budget we were like where
does that fit?

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
So we weren't really sure.
So that has kind of been moved.
I know I was just last episodetalking about the Super 8.
That was a dream that camealive last night, so that is not
something that, yeah.
So now we really don't knowlike it might.
First videographer was on thelist and then it got taken off
the list and now it might bemoving back on the list it's so
crazy how things just shift.

(17:19):
It's so crazy how it shiftscontent creator was like when we
took the videographer off thelist, we put content creator on
and then, now that we're youknow what I?
Mean it just keeps flipping ina circle.
So if we find one that's in ourbudget, that like we really
like their work, we'll end upprobably doing some sort of
videography, even if it's notthe whole day.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
We don't really want the whole day, we want just like
the ceremony and likeafterwards aspects of it, and
then yeah, we had a videographerin the uh in the um a few
episodes ago and, uh, he wastelling me he's like you know, I
normally shoot for like 10hours 11 hours and then of
course, you know, like, ofcourse they give you a really
good highlight or product, youknow, but but yeah, 10 hours of

(17:58):
shooting, it's, it's a lot.
I can see why it's so expensive.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Yeah they're there the whole day.
They start from like whenyou're getting ready, all the
way to like the send-off, and sowe can see that we're like wow,
but we were.
We were looking atvideographers and asking like,
would you be willing to only dofour hours?
And that's harder, because thenit's like now we're asking for
a custom plan that they have, that they don't normally do.
So it was.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
It was more difficult to, I guess, arrange it in that
aspect okay and I guess just alittle bit of advice here for
for our listeners that areplanning their wedding.
I know yours.
You you're planning with a yearand a half in advance, so most
of the vendors that you've beenselecting are available.
But just a little tip forDecember weddings out there,

(18:40):
december could be a little bittricky because a lot of holiday
parties are happening, so a lotof the vendors sometimes are
already booked.
So if you're out there andyou're planning to get married
in December, make sure that youstart planning with enough time
in advance, because a lot ofthese vendors are going to be
booked with corporate parties.

(19:00):
You know all the Christmasparties and of course you know
there's always weddings inDecember.
So for us vendors December isalways a really busy month.
So definitely you know all ofour listeners make that note
that December could be a littleharder to get vendors or also
sometimes they could be a littlemore expensive.
You know, because there's sucha big demand in December that

(19:22):
also vendors could be a littlemore expensive during that time.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
Yeah, that completely makes sense.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Yeah, I mean you have a year and a half, so you're
good.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
We're getting closer the more I'm like, okay, we got
to get the rest of the bigthings down yeah, oh, my gosh
most of it though the thing Iwas most surprised about was I
went and got my dress.
I finally picked a dress, andthis was in july.
No, no, no, no, this wasrecently.
This was like in september.
September, we ordered the dressand we paid everything, right,
we're like okay, like we'reexcited it's gonna get shipped
in, and then, like the ship dateis like the end of september,

(19:53):
early october of next year.
So I was like I am so glad wedid this now because then you
have to take it to get alteredand all that.
So I was like I can't imagine ifwe had waited.
Everyone says, like on thechecklist, that like the dress
can be chosen like a year out, which I think for most brands it
probably can.
But because I picked anout-of-country designer, I think
that's what happened, becauseI'm like wow like I'm so shocked

(20:13):
that I just remember thinkingthis is over a year away and
it's not coming.
It's not guaranteed to be herefor like a year and two months
or something like that.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
Yeah, that is that's.
That's insane.
14 months, yeah, I'm like thatis crazy.
So all right, ladies.
So make sure you get yourdresses.
You need to be proactive witheverything.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
I mean, it takes time for everything, and then my
best friend just got her dressand hers is going to be here in
like nine months.
So I don't know, I don't knowhow it works.
I guess the ship dates aredifferent across the country
based on designer.
Very interesting, so just makesure you look into who you want
and get your dresses.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
Yeah, make sure you secure those vendors with with
enough time.
I mean, because it's yourspecial day, you want to make
sure that you have who you want, not who you can get you know
like as a last resort.
So, um, so, yeah, well, jessica, thank you so much again for
being here with us.
I mean, time flies, time isfine.
It's that time that we have tosay bye, but hey, so I know you
keep talking about thischecklist, yes, and that your
fiance found.
I would love to share thatinformation with our listeners.

(21:17):
Oh, yeah, so you can give methe link of where he found this
checklist and then we candefinitely have it on the show
notes.
That way, if any of you brides, any of you grooms out there are
looking for resources, we cangive you where to find this
checklist that Jessica's usingfor her wedding, which sounds
like it's been really helpful.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
It has been so helpful and they organized it so
well.
They did all the math for you.
You just have to input yournumbers and that's it.
So, yes, we can definitelyshare it to you.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Awesome, thank you.
So much journey, and I meanhopefully we'll end up going to
your wedding with a photo booth.
Yes, definitely.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
