Hey guys, welcome back to theTipsy Guest.
I am Marco, your host, and I amvery excited today because I
have Chriselle from DelightfulLittle Events.
Welcome, chriselle.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Hello, thank you.
Thank you for having me.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Oh, my goodness, I'm very excited to work with you
and to have you as a guest.
We have to show off a littlebit.
The last time that we workedtogether, we won an award.
Yes, we did.
It is always so nice to workwith you.
You are so easy to get alongwith.

(01:03):
It's always smiling andlaughing and joking, I feel the
same way.
Thank you so yeah, so thank you, thank you, thank you.
But so let's tell our listeners, like what do you do?
How long have you been inbusiness?
Give us all the details aboutyour company.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Wonderful.
So I'm with Delightful LittleEvents.
I actually started my businessin 2010.
Been doing events and thingssuch before, just noticed that I
had a niche for organization, had a niche for decorating, had
a niche for planning, anddecided to open the business in
2010.
So it's been official eversince then, and so we do

(01:42):
planning of all kinds of events, big and small.
We named our businessDelightful Little Events, and
nothing we do is really little, but we do all kinds of events,
everything from baby showers toweddings, quinceañeras,
corporate events, you name it.
We've got it.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
I love it, I love it.
So today we're going to betalking about wedding dates.
Yes, I mean, after you say, yes, I want to marry you, then
there's a lot that comes afterthat and one of the most
important things it's pickingthe wedding date.
It's crazy, I mean, there areso many.
I mean I've been in business, you know, for 10 years now and

(02:22):
it's always, I think with thephoto booth is always different,
because we're normally thevendor that gets booked towards
the end of the process, right.
But I would say, you know, Ithink there's only been one time
, one time that a bride told meand she's like Marco, you are
the first vendor I book, you arethe first vendor I book.

(02:48):
I don't even have a venue yet, which I felt so good because she
had been following our accountfor the longest time.
And then, uh, and she was likeI want to make sure that I have
you.
You know, like I don't wantanybody else, I want you at my
wedding, so you're my firstvendor and then we'll worry
about the rest.
And I was like, oh well, thankyou, as long, what?
an honor as long as they had adate.
I'm good, you know, like rightwhen it comes to the venue.
Now, of course, you know wewant to make sure that we have

(03:10):
all the information, thelocation and all of that.
But as long as the date is set,you know, we're okay booking
the client right so, in thiscase, selecting the date is a
crucial moment and decision foryour big day.
Absolutely so what are yourthoughts Like?
What have you seen?
What are the trending datesthat couples normally look for?

(03:34):
Give us the good, the bad, thepopular ones, the not so popular
ones, the pros the cons Talk tous about that.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Okay, fun, fun, fun topic.
So I'll start by saying I thinkhere in San Antonio it has a
lot to do with the seasons, because we really don't have
seasons like you do in otherplaces.
I feel like people are verythey lean towards either the
spring or the fall, and that isactually our busiest time During

(04:04):
the summer.
Here in San Antonio it is veryhot.
Most venues allow for outdoorweddings and that's most of our
brides and grooms have thatvision to have an outdoor
wedding.
So I will tell you, spring andfall are very popular here in
San Antonio.
Popular dates we always have ourtraditional popular dates,

(04:25):
things like Christmas, newYear's Day, valentine's Day,
maybe Memorial, memorial Dayweekend in May is is a big one
for us as well.
So I would say dates like that, and when you go into actual
holidays, of course you have tobe careful because you want to
make sure that your number one, your vendors, are available.

(04:45):
Some vendors block off thattime.
Some of them charge a littlemore.
You know you want to make surethat the vendors are available
and also your venue.
So I would say popular seasonsare going to be the spring and
the fall.
In our case, october, forexample, it's a very big, big,
big month for us.
We're booked with one, two andeven three events in one weekend

(05:09):
, so October is a very big date.
Um, november you start runninginto family time and
Thanksgiving and things likethat.
Um picks back up in Decemberand then, when you turn that
corner of a new year, people youknow newly engaged or they've
been through the planningprocess, and so March and
springtime is another big timeas well yeah, no, for sure for

(05:31):
us.

Speaker 1 (05:31):
I think, uh, I think, uh.
I mean, my track record showsthat April for me it's a very
popular month, like it is sowild To me April, I think,
october, november and Decemberare my craziest months.
The summer it slows down alittle bit because I mean who
wants to get married outside inSan Antonio or Austin or you?

(05:52):
Know, the hill country.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Correct, it is so hot .

Speaker 1 (05:55):
But I have done summer weddings outside and,
trust me, it has been hell.
Bless you, bless you.
And you know.
The funny thing is, you know, most of the time it's an
indoor-outdoor.
You know most of the venueshere in San Antonio, you know,
or Austin, they'reindoor-outdoor, correct.
So one of the things that I'venoticed that people like to do

(06:19):
it always happens with us, withthe photo booth company they
want to have the wedding inside, but then they want to put the
photo booth outside.
And I'm like, girl, I'm antithe photo booth outside.
I'm like, no, I'm like you know, if you want to get the most
out of your photo booth, youneed to put it inside what the
wedding is happening.
You know your people are notgoing to want to get the most
out of your photo booth.

(06:39):
You need to put it inside whatthe wedding is happening.
Absolutely.
Your people are not going towant to come outside.
I mean, they might come outonce, take a photo, but then
they're never going to come backbecause they're going to be
sweating, they're going to belooking rough.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Right.

Speaker 1 (06:50):
That part, yeah, but I guess, yeah, like you
mentioned, the fall, the spring, really popular dates here in
Central Texas.
When it comes to a holidaywedding you did mention, of
course you know some of thevendors take time off.
Of course they block it off.
Some of the vendors are goingto charge more.
And then also, you got to thinkabout, you know, traveling

(07:15):
expenses.
You know like I feel, like Imean, it gets, it gets pretty
pricey, you know I I remember Ihad a wedding one time which was
a new year's wedding, and youknow when they reached out to me
, you know I sent out a proposaland my quote was a lot higher
than what I would normallycharge for just any other date.

(07:37):
And of course, you know what.
One of the first questions thatI got from the, from the client
, was like well, why is it so,you know, higher than other
companies that I reached out to.
And I was like well, girl, honestly, because it's New
Year's Eve.
If I want to, if I'm going tospend it somewhere working, I
better be worth it.
Absolutely, you know I am.

(08:02):
I'm walking away from my familycelebrations to go work an
event, so, or if it's not mepersonally, I'm taking my staff,
you know, my team members, youknow away from their families to
go work the event.
So I have to make sure that Ipay them enough to, you know,
for them to say like, yeah, youknow we're available to work
Right.
And she was like, yeah, I getit.
And honestly, and of course Imean I know that she knew it was

(08:23):
going to be more because I'msure the venue charged more.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Correct.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
I'm sure the band charged more, I'm sure everybody
else charged more Correct, butI guess she just wanted.

Speaker 2 (08:32):
I mean.

Speaker 1 (08:32):
I guess she was just asking every single vendor the
same question, just to see ifshe would get it lower Right.
But I was like girl, I'm sorry,I can't give you a discount on
New Year's Eve, no.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
That's a premium premium date yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
I think, another one.
I don't think I've ever done anactual Christmas wedding, but I
have done like a 4th of Julywedding I think I've done also,
like you mentioned, you know, like the memorial or like the
what.
So, like you mentioned, youknow, like the memorial, or like
what's the other one inSeptember, the Labor Day?
Labor Day yes, I always getthose two confused.
But OK, so you personally, haveyou ever worked a New Year's

(09:06):
Eve wedding?
I have, and how did that go?

Speaker 2 (09:09):
I actually had a lot of fun.
It was a couple who had it wasnot a very big wedding, maybe
about 60 to 80 guests, but itwas very fun.
They made sure that if peoplewere going to spend New Year's
Eve with them at their wedding, that they pulled out all the
stops within the details.

(09:29):
So the entertainment, the food, the types of.
They even played games and didthings and had really nice cool
things to give the guest when itcame to midnight and things
like that.
So it was actually a very funwedding.
I too charged a little morebecause I feel it, even though I
don't do too much for NewYear's, but if it's going to
pull me away from my family andit's not a day that I

(09:52):
particularly like to be out youknow, driving or being out in
the in the wee hours of themorning I make sure that you
know my team and I arecompensated.
But it was actually a very, very, very fun wedding.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
They are fun because when I ended up working that
wedding that I was just talkingabout.
So it was me.
I didn't really send anybodyout there to work, it was me.
And then I had a friendvisiting from Chile and she was
like you know what she's like,I'll work.
It was me.
And then I had a friendvisiting from, uh, from chile,
and she she was like you knowwhat she's like, I'll work it
with you.
She's like I've already spentchristmas with my family.
You know, I came to visit, Ispent christmas with them, she's
like, but now I kind of want toget away from them a little.

(10:28):
So so she's like, and I'm sureit's gonna be fun, and blah,
blah, blah.
So yeah, so she worked thewedding with me and it was fun,
yeah, like it's.
It's so different from regular aholiday, but I feel like new
year's is not as like, oh, Ihave to be with the family, as

(11:04):
like christmas or like you knowanother, like easter or like any
other, like you know, likeholiday.
That it's more like familyoriented, right, I think new
year's is more like party, likelet's go out, let's have fun,
yeah, so if it's a wedding onnew year's eve, a wedding on New
Year's Eve, I think it's a gooddate.
But, yeah, if you want to spendthe extra money, then
definitely go for a New Year'swedding, right, and maybe keep

(11:26):
it intimate so that you canafford all your vendors Exactly.
You know, this year I actuallyhad a New Year's Day wedding.
Wow, it was not a New Year'sEve, it was a new year's day,
okay, which I, which I thoughtit was very interesting.
I was like, you know, normallynormally people go for the 31st,
right, but they went for the1st of january.
I guess they went, I guess theywanted to party on new year's
eve and then they wanted, youknow like they took advantage

(11:48):
that everybody else was in townright for the actual wedding on
the 1st.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
So so that was cool plus, it's a great way to start
the year, exactly, yeah I meanstart with a bang, start with a
bang, I love it.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Another um, another date.
Um, let's say, for example ofcourse you know we we went into
spring and fall, right then ofcourse we talked a little bit
about the, about the summer.
So for example, here in sanantonio or just central texas,
in general rain season, oh mygoodness, have you ever had a, a

(12:21):
wedding, where you know theypicked a date and you know it
was going to be indoor, outdoor, and then, of course, weather in
Texas, you know how it is.
You can wake up to a hot day,and then midday is raining, and
then afternoon is cold, and thenat night it's hot again.
Have you ever had to go throughthat?

Speaker 2 (12:37):
I have where you actually have to go through your
whole wardrobe.
I actually had a wedding for acouple the week before their
wedding.
It was a spring wedding inMarch.
Week before their weddinggorgeous weather.
We had that nice little, youknow, 70 65 degree type of
breeze.
All of a sudden, the day oftheir wedding, it gets super

(12:59):
cold and it starts raining, andit was often on rain to where it
would rain, and then the sunwould come out and we're
thinking, okay, we're going tobe okay, and then the clouds
would come back and it wouldpour and it ended up being.
It was one of those things wherewe decided to take a risk and
we decided to go ahead and keepit an outdoor ceremony.

(13:20):
Everything was fine.
The minute everybody got downthe aisle, the procession had
had happened.
The minute the bride links armswith her dad, despite the sun,
it started raining.
So at that point it's too lateto transition.
You just have to flow with it.
Luckily, in our emergency kitwe had a really cute umbrella

(13:42):
that we had used for a styledshoot, so we brought it out and
let her walk down the aisle withit, and it actually made for
beautiful photos wow but it wasone of those things where it's
so stressful because you see hergoing down the aisle.
She's you know her dad'sdrenched.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
The groom is at the altar and he's kind of drenched
and it's too late to do anythingoh my goodness, yeah, I mean
it's, it is so crazy and it's isso crazy and sometimes it's sad
because you spend so much moneyyou spend.
So I mean, sometimes you planyour wedding for two years, yes,
and then you try to pick theperfect date and then weather

(14:21):
just comes in and messeseverything up.
I was going through TikTok,tiktok the other day and I saw a
video of a wedding and itstarted pouring and they made
the most of it and the video andthe photos from the wedding
look stunning.
Wow, like everybody justembraced the rain, they had fun

(14:45):
with it and those photos look sogood Like it.
I mean, yeah, I'm sure theywere bummed at the beginning,
but then once they saw and theynoticed that, hey, let's just go
with it, let's have fun, right, and then, I'm sure, when they
saw those photos, they were like, wow, like I'm just glad it
rained.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
And you know it's important.
I think when you, when you talkabout situations like this,
it's important.
I think when you, when you talkabout situations like this,
it's important when you'repicking your vendors to pick
vendors who are seasoned, whohave kind of gone through these
things here and there.
In my particular case, myphotographer rocked that photo
shoot and kind of you know thebride and groom, everybody else
kind of ran inside but thebridal party, the bride and
groom, they embrace the rain, they played with it.

(15:26):
Those pictures are so beautiful, so kind of just like the video
you talked about.
I'm sure you know they just madethe best of it.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
I mean, what are you going to do?
You know you're not going to bedepressed or crying and I mean
you just got to go with it.
I mean you already spent thetime, you spent the money.
You want to make sure that yourwedding and even if there's a
little rain, who cares?
Just have fun with it, enjoy it.
Or maybe just pick a differentdate from the very beginning.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
That part too.
Have fun with it is my choice, yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:06):
So what would you say , for example, for you, just
personally, what would you sayare your top three wedding dates
?
Um, you know that if you would,if you were to get married all
over again, what would be yourtop three picks for, for a
wedding date?

Speaker 2 (16:16):
so top three picks for me would probably be I would
say october, I would say marchand I would probably throw April
in there, because April stillteetering.
It's not too hot, not too cold, but we still are dealing with
cold friends.
I'm a weather girl.
I don't want to be hot, I don'twant to sweat, so I'm looking

(16:41):
for dates where it's going to becool.
So for me it would definitelybe October, march and probably
April.

Speaker 1 (16:47):
I like that.
I think those are really goodmonths, I think, for me
personally.
I feel like I would love aNovember wedding.
Yes, I think I sweat a lot evenif I'm inside, like right now.
You know it's cold in here, right, but I feel like, if you
know, with the lighting and allthat stuff and the moving around
at a wedding, for example, likeI would hate to be sweating,

(17:07):
especially because you'relayered, you know you have your
tuxedo or whatever.
You want to make sure that youfeel comfortable.
So I think, for me, Novemberwould be would be a perfect date
.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
You know perfect month.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Right, I guess maybe like the second week of November
, you know just to to to be onthe safe side.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
It's a good date and because you're always snazzy in
your dress attire, I think it'sperfect yeah, no, for sure, for
sure, oh, my goodness.

Speaker 1 (17:30):
So another thing is so we, obviously, you know, we
decided, we talked about what, what would be like a good, like
a popular month, what would bethe month that you would say
absolutely not, like, I wouldnot, for me.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
I have two.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
So for me it would probably be August.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Because of the heat.
And the other one would beDecember.
I really enjoy the Christmasseason.
I love for me the fall.
Everything September throughDecember is amazing and so, but
for me in December I like to bejust.
I don't like to do very much, Ijust like to enjoy.
I like to watch Hallmark anddrink hot chocolate, and so, for

(18:13):
me, december's a month that Itry not to do very much okay,
okay.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
And you know a funny thing, that you mentioned
December right now, like for usnormally December with the photo
booth, we're always so busywith corporate events you know
all the holiday parties but forsome reason this year, in 2024,
we have so many weddings alreadyin the books for December.
Wow.
So I already know that Decemberfor us is going to be crazy

(18:40):
this year, because, of course,we have all these weddings
already booked.
And and then, right now, timeof this recording, which is what
are we?
October?

Speaker 2 (18:48):
Oh my God, it's already October.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
Yes, it is already October, so for us all the
holiday parties are alreadycoming in Correct.
So December this year is goingto be insane for us.
So definitely no Hallmarkmovies for me this December.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
No Hallmark movies and hot chocolate, I know.

Speaker 1 (19:06):
I know movies for me this december no hallmark movies
and hot chocolate, I know Iknow, but oh my goodness.
Well, this has been fun.
Thank you so much for um forbeing here with us today.
I definitely want to have youback wonderful and then, um, I
guess let our listeners knowwhere can they find you on
social media or like online ingeneral.
How can they get to you, incase that they want to, that

(19:28):
they want to hire you for theirwedding planning?

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Wonderful.
So, of course, we're onInstagram.
We're at delightful events.
We're on Facebook as well, delightful little events.
Or you can find us on ourwebsite, which is wwwdlesacom.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Awesome.
Thank you so much, christelle.
Thank you, marco, as always, apleasure hanging out with you.
Same.
And to our listeners, thank youso much for tuning in.
And every week we havedifferent vendors.
So if you know anybody that'sgetting married, make sure that
you let them know about thetipsy guest.
Or if you're the one gettingmarried, then, of course, send
us a message, send us a DM,visit our website, send us an

(20:07):
email, let us know what topicsyou want us to cover, or, if you
have a favorite vendor, let usknow who and we'll make sure to
reach out to them.
If we haven't had them here atthe tipsy guest, maybe they can

Until next time, cheers.
