Speaker 3 (05:09):
Shout out to all americans and you guys know why
turn up is good.

, because I just always knowwhere shit is in the zone in the
zone every time I'm in theworkroom.
That's the first thing I seeexactly.
So, um, but yeah.
So to your statement to say youfeel like you don't do it, but

(05:30):
you have it like, literally youhave one love, like you have all
this stuff all over is one loveand affirmation that's like bob
marley you know, yeah, butthere's unified society together
you know like I guess us guys,I guess we're just boring right

I'm falling asleep and I'm like, maybe you should sit up I
don't?

Speaker 3 (06:46):
I only feel like sitting up, so we might it
doesn't make sense for him tosit up on a comfortable couch
yeah, because I'm like sittingup but yeah, but I'm trying to
like mediate guide this rightstation.
Here we just vibing I heardwe're just vibing, we're going
to preface this.
Neshea was over here worried, but we're literally.

(07:09):
I feel like you're enjoyingyourself.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
We're having a good conversation.
This is literally it.
We do this every day.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
Exactly that was my exact point.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
We're literally just having a conversation.
When did you get into DJj andhow'd you start, you know, doing
like what?
I guess what even planted thatidea, like what even made you
want to be a dj, or did you youknow how did that journey go?

Speaker 1 (07:39):
I actually had no plans on becoming a DJ.
I used to frequent this placecalled Metro Diner and the DJ
manager at the time like she wasreally rocking with me and I
never.
I mean, I work there now, right.

(08:00):
So, like you know, the peoplelike Kim will sing like the same
songs.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
She might be switching, so you're my.
I got a party just right, soyou used to just visit there
like just in your free time andbe like oh, let me get this
before you were a dj yes, oh,wow.
So you just be like, let me geta bite to eat, or?

Speaker 2 (08:16):
so wait so much.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
I didn't even go to eat, I just went for karaoke so,
metro, you just started you offas a dj, yeah, and so how did
you even find Metro Diamond?
So I used to really enjoykaraoke, so when I moved here I
was doing research to find outwhere to go.
And so I went to Metro.
I became kind of like a regular, but only on certain days when

(08:40):
certain DJs was working.
The lady was like are you a aDJ because you have great music
taste, like you never sing thesame songs and like whatever,
whatever.
And I was like no, I just lovemusic so you had like a whole
catalog of songs you weresinging it wasn't a catalog, it
was just a feeling, it was justlike this is what I'm in the

(09:01):
mood for today, or this is whatI feel like would entertain the
crowd like I've always been.
I guess you could say anentertainer.

Speaker 3 (09:07):
I mean, that's not easy, man, you know.
But me and Turner we've beentrying to build this karaoke
catalog for a little minute now, right like.
I'm still and we can't.
We can't just do any song likeafter like, oh, let's just do,
mario, let me love you, like outthe blue light, that blue.
We kind of take a little mentalpreparation.
Boy does it ever.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
When you put it on the spot, it's kind of hard to
think of songs, that's true.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
Anyway, we commend you for that.
Yeah, continue.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Then she invited me to work there and I was like
sure, I don't know anythingabout anything.
And she was like, well, I canshow you, she showed me me, but
she didn't really show me how tolike dj, she just showed me how
to, I guess, read the crowd andlike fade in and fade out type
situation.
So, um, I have a non-profitwhere I put on events and I was

(10:00):
putting on dance events at themoment and I was.
I made friends with this girlnamed Erica who was like a
skater and I was telling her howI wanted to merge my I had an
event idea of merging skatingand the dance style together.
She was like, oh, a good personto talk to would be DJ Ham and

(10:21):
I was like, what's a ham Shoutout to?

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Ham, by the way, Shout out to Ham.
I was like what's a ham?

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Shout out to ham, by the way.
I was like what's a ham?
And she's like it's a person.
I was like that's weird, butokay, what's a ham?
So anyways, I introduced myselfto him and told him what I was
trying to do, and he just prettymuch took me under his wing to
teach me.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
So what year is this?
Yeah, let's put a timeline.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
So this is like 2021.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
Ham.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
Metro.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Diner was.

Speaker 1 (10:52):
Metro Diner was like eight months before, so like
2020.
Gotcha, yeah, yeah, I startedMetro.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
So it's like during COVID.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Actually, okay, I'm sorry, I started Metro, so it
was like during COVID.
Actually, okay, I'm sorry, Istarted Metro September 2021.
The whole ham thing happenedJuly 2022.

Speaker 3 (11:15):
Ah yeah, and I was trying to wonder when we met her
, what was that?
Ham and you session yeah, thatsummer something.

Speaker 2 (11:25):
Oh, whatever the summer bash.
The session I met her was theanniversary that me and Drip did
Cascade.
You do remember that that wasthe situation where I that thing
, that situation, but yeah, soyeah, I came in the booth I was

(11:50):
like, oh, this is whoever she is, this is whoever she is, and I
went off to Insert name here, right.
And then I started doingwhatever, and then she was like,
oh, hello.
And I was like, hi, I'm allright, yeah.
And so I was like, oh okay, socool, well, we're talking now.
And so I I know of her, I nowknow of her existence and so

(12:14):
that was like I feel like thehand thing happened before that.
No it definitely did not.
I definitely because becausewhen you came in I was like oh,
that's that girl from uh cascade.
I met a cascade oh, I rememberthat yeah, okay.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
So, um, okay.
So you met him.
He mentored you, helped you outwith djing and you made it.
How did you make it into theskating rink?

Speaker 1 (12:43):
So after a few months , maybe really just weeks, of
working together, I met.
I mean, I was visiting Cascadepretty regularly so I had made
friends with like Jermon andMello, who no longer work there.

Speaker 3 (13:01):
Were you already a skater or did you know how to
skate?

Speaker 1 (13:04):
I was learning, okay, yeah, or did you know how to
skate?
I was learning, okay, yeah, Iwas learning how to skate.
Um and ham was like oh yeah, they're gonna have auditions,
you should do it.
And I'm like I just learnedwhat a bpm was like.
Why would I do that?
Like I don't know anythingabout skate music or nothing.
And he's like yeah, you shouldjust do it.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
And that musician also encouraged me, and so I
showed up to the audition and Iwas the first person to arrive
and these are all folks you metbecause you was going to cascade
frequently and you just cameacross like, oh, this musician
well, I actually met them when Istarted, um, when I started

(13:44):
looking into like the DJ stuff.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
So I don't mean like this is going to sound terrible,
but when I started skating Iwasn't.
I didn't even acknowledge thefact that it was a DJ.
I was just rolling aroundhaving a good time trying to
figure out how do I go backwards, right.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
I mean, it's a fair statement.
I'm sure a lot of people youknow a lot of regular or just
like random folk that come inthere.

Speaker 2 (14:08):
That's you know, kudos to y'all.
I can't do that shit.
You gotta pick and choose yourbattles.
That's not a battle I need,it's all good, we'll contact
from that dude but, um, yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:20):
So then, yeah.
So, as I started getting intoit and asking questions, like
I'm a very inquisitive personand I'm also pretty friendly, so
I made friends pretty quicklyand yeah.
So after my audition, likeAvalanche didn't tell me yes or
no, he was just kind of like, yeah, you need a different board

(14:40):
Because I had a Rev one at thetime.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
It's just so funny because you know Avalanche would
be so straightforward.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
Yeah, he's very cutthroat.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
Yeah, he was like you can't plug up to our stuff with
the RCA plug-in.
That's not going to work, andso I was like well, I need to
know I'm going to be on theschedule before I drop this.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Drop this thing.
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Drop this money on this, because I'm not one of
those people who's going to makemonthly payments Like I'm going
to buy it straight out, right?

Speaker 3 (15:09):
Cashing out.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Yeah, so yeah, but that's you know long story long.
That's how it kind of happened.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
So you got a new board and oh.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Well before I got the boards, so Well before I got
the boards.
So he made me like I guess youcould say re-audition, but it
was during a session.
It was supposed to be me andhim DJing, but it was just me.

Speaker 3 (15:30):
Right.

Speaker 1 (15:31):
And him let me use his old board.
Oh, he just left you Him.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
No, Avalanche.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Well, he was in the booth with me but he just he
wasn't DJing Right.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
But then he started feeling the vibe and then he was
just hearing you play, yeah, and he started showing the vibe,
and then we started playingtogether gotcha and that sold
him yeah, I guess I'm on theschedule.
Let me push you on yeah yougotcha so uh schedule was
adjusted accordingly, rightaccordingly, and um the rest is
history cascade dj.

(16:05):
Uh, what sessions did you startdoing?

Speaker 1 (16:10):
um, I don't think I started on any particular
session.

Speaker 3 (16:14):
Um, it was just many sessions whenever I was
available um, do you have apreference like out of the
cascade week?
Is there a preference for whichsessions that you you enjoy?

Speaker 1 (16:29):
djing or djing.
Um.
I enjoy sunday family sessions.
Um, I did me ham and avalanchedid on wednesday.
One time I was very new, it wasdone on wednesday.
Oh dang, I wasn't like on theschedule or nothing, I just
pulled up and they let meWednesday.

Speaker 3 (16:44):
One time I was very new.
You done on Wednesday?

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Oh, dang, I wasn't like on the schedule or nothing.
I just pulled up and they letme.

Speaker 3 (16:48):
And they let you DJ with them.

Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
Still, though you know that's cool.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Yeah, that was pretty nerve wracking, but people had
a great time.
We recorded it and I listenedback to it several times and I'm
like, dang, that was terrible.
I mean, what was wrong with it?
Um, I could just tell that Iwas nervous, like and I remember

(17:11):
being nervous and you I I canhear it now, you know.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
I mean, I feel like we all, you know, at some point
I felt like that when welistened back, oh boy, oh, my
turn around.
I thought you shaking your headlike oh no.
You're like, no, that's for therookies, that's what I don't
know about y'all insecuremotherfuckers.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
I could listen to a couple of mixes on the earlier
MythCloud Oof boy.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
Yeah, yeah, I definitely had something down
there, a little Rocky Road.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
I get reprimanded all the time for playing Woo Side
of Family Station.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
You definitely should have got discipline for that.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
It was a clean version.

Speaker 2 (17:53):
I mean, but even with a clean version, that's crazy
what.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Just to give y'all a little backstory, I said, hey,
tanaka, check out my mix, orwhatever, right?
So I'm whipping in the kitchenand I'm listening to the mix
shout out to Huncho TNT podcasthall of famer so I'm whipping in

(18:20):
the kitchen and I'm listeningto the mix and we on the slow
set I'm like hold the kitchenand I'm listening to the mix and
we on the slow set I'm like, hold up, this is a family
session, come on.
And I'm just like, oh, that'scrazy.

Speaker 2 (18:33):
Yeah, that's crazy, but you know, and nobody came up
and said anything to you like,ma'am, what is this?

Speaker 1 (18:41):
Nope, the only time I've ever had anybody say
anything to me was two weeks agoat Cascade East.
This mom was upset because Iplayed P-T-O-M Wait, p-t-o-m.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
P-O-M.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Thank you.
Yeah, sorry, it's a lie, howyou city girl Bitch you from the
country.

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Yeah, that's crazy.
I ain't gonna lie, you got morenuts than me.
Nah, both of them is kind ofcrazy.
Yes, he's literally saying putthat pussy on me Actually the
King version says it Put thatpussy on me.
That's still crazy.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
I mean, I was in high school listening to Pretty
Ricky.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
Yes, but come on, now we're in conures.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
Here's the difference and we're gonna speak on this.
Here's the difference prettyricky, clean version.
They redid the album like theyredid the song.
Like the lyrics are different,yeah.
So that's why, when I heard theexplicit version, I was like
these aren't the lyrics?
So that's the reason why thatyou know what I'm saying.

(19:49):
That was something they used todo, though in that era, like
2000s, late 90s, they used toactually change the lyrics for
the clean version, but now theyjust well, they really don't
care.
Now there's not even a cleanversion.
Sometimes there's not even aclean version.
No, sometimes there's not evena clean version out there.

Speaker 2 (20:08):
Oh, oh, yeah, true, you know so last person I heard
do that was a sexy red poundtown, but I feel like she did
that because she felt like thesong had to be on the radio,
right, so she had to yeah, sodid she make it clean, or she
just bleeped it out?
No, like I think she says likemy pink, my tootsie roll brown.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
I did not hear that version.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
Yeah, I mean, how often are you playing pound town
?
Oh, so you just play pound town.
Yeah, miss Woosa, over hereplaying pound town and booty
hole brown and put that ass onmy face.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
There it is.
That's the type of time youwant to get.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
Hey man.

Speaker 3 (20:49):
Gotta say true to your.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
You want to say something about Candidate?

Speaker 3 (20:59):
Why did you meet with him?
It was for your what.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
My non-profit event.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
That must be the mission statement for her
non-profit event, putting thatass on that face, put that pussy
on.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
Hey, that's a mission statement no, sir, that's that
woman empowerment, you know.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
What's your favorite song about Mo Head See?

Speaker 1 (21:22):
there you go.

Speaker 2 (21:23):
There you go.
I mean, the proper answer wouldhave been put that pussy on me
yeah oh then what's your?

Speaker 1 (21:31):
favorite, I'll just go with that one he tried to
alley-oop it right likeliterally lay up right, that's
what's up.

Speaker 3 (21:42):
Yeah, that's what's up.
Is cascade on?
Oh, did you have a question?
But yeah, that's what's up.
Yeah, that's what's up.
Is Cascade going to?
Oh, did you have a question?

Speaker 2 (21:50):
I lost it?
No, but like I said, thisblowing wind and this comfy-ass
Wayfair couch is like oh yeah, they can.
They can see me, I can see me,I think I can see me, I don't
know.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
It's a deadly combination Deadly, very deadly,
very deadly.
Y'all can see me, I don't know.
It's a deadly combination.
Deadly, very deadly, verydeadly.
Um is cascade, the only rinkydj, yet consistently.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
Yes, okay, cascade west, cascade east.
I've done golden glide a fewtimes.

I have not had anybody request that as their
first year I'm not gonna lie, that I, yeah, I have, I have for

Speaker 2 (29:42):
Shout out to D'Angelo and Long Hill for coming out
with that jam.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Yeah, that one is um, but I feel like those are all,
everything y'all named, though Ifeel like yeah, no, for sure
all the records for sure I feellike.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
I feel like nothing, even matters, would be more in
like a neo soul-ish type wedding.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
It's not like a soulful sunday type of vibe yeah
, it's crazy, I actually playedit Soulful Sunday.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
I definitely played that for Soulful Sunday, see.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
I know my friends.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
She knows her friends .

cannot remember I'm just thewedding ending yeah yeah, that
joint kind of ended a littlenegatively.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Was that the?

Speaker 2 (30:53):
one where they the limo guy found, the.
He went to the wrong place.
Chill out, chill out, chill out.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
We're not talking about that one.

Speaker 2 (31:02):
All they do is not talk about that one, oh my bad,
I thought we were talking aboutthat one.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
We're not talking about that one.
Oh my bad, I know we weretalking about that one.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
You got to go to an old episode to hear that whole
story.
Dad joint was crazy.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
That reminded me of.
I think there's a Family Guyepisode or something, where they
were like they were showing thereporter and he was like wait,
wait.
I think I'm at the wronglocation yeah, but um, so I'm

(31:35):
djing and they had asked me toplay has.
This was so random, bro.
So random, he asked me to playgorilla zo.
Guess what gorilla zo he askedfor, bro.
Guess what song he asked fromgorilla zo?
Uh, top of the week.

Speaker 2 (31:52):
No, okay, uh, just say um well, better question is
do you know I know, look, look, look look.
I wasn't even saying it as aCanadian thing, I was saying
that more of like.
Not a lot of people know whoGorilla Zoe is.

Speaker 1 (32:07):
I know who he is but I don't know his songs.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
Bro, they asked for Lost.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
Exactly, I know she don't know that song, you know?

Speaker 3 (32:19):
how random of a song at a wedding is.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
Well, just anywhere, period.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
Yeah, that's pretty so then I was like dang man you
know about, you know gorillas, though, and all that, and um, I
don't know.
I guess he felt like I wastrying him.
I wasn't trying or like, oh no,I asked him where he was from
you know what I'm saying, orwhatever and I guess he felt
tried or something like like man, I'm from zone three and I'm

(32:47):
just like all right, brother, Iwasn't trying to get up, like
you know what I'm saying I wasjust asking what part to see
right you know how, yet

Speaker 2 (32:59):
but yeah, anyway um so let me ask y'all this, for
this, for y'all hypotheticalwedding what would your first
dance song be?

Speaker 1 (33:11):
All my Life by KC Daniels.

Speaker 2 (33:14):
I feel like she's like Only saying that because
that's like the only song shecan pick up.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
No that I always wanted that song From when I
heard it.
And then I was like, maybe not, since everybody's doing it, but
everybody's pulled away from itat this point.

Speaker 3 (33:28):
Did you hear Nelly's version Of All my?

Speaker 2 (33:31):
Life and you sampled it.
No, no, I kind of want to hearit, though, now that you said it
, that sounds great.
It's called All my Life.
Is it called All my Life?

Speaker 3 (33:40):
No, it's called Wish a Name.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Wish a Name.
Wish a Name?
I hear it.
Yeah, hey.
So I'm assuming that's whatyou're going to use for your
first dance.

Speaker 3 (33:47):
Chill out man.
Chill out man.
Oh man, that was crazy.
All right, I'm sorry.
I'm going to ask Is that it?

Speaker 2 (34:08):
Yeah well, you never answered, would you?
Oh yeah, what would you?
Or?

Speaker 3 (34:12):
do you?
It's too tough a question, Iwould have to release it oh,
would you have to like know yourpartner yeah, because I would
have to know that it'll probablybe like their song yeah yeah,
so song yeah, yeah, so would itbe this?

Speaker 2 (34:28):
by the way, this is his favorite anywho, ladies and
gentlemen, we're about to moveon to guess the bars.
So so, ladies and gentlemen, what we did is yes, they can

(35:12):
hear what, not you I'm trying tofind it okay, well, anyway,
ladies and gentlemen, we'regonna get into guess the bars.
We send each other some uh rapbars um I didn't get it and yeah
, I know, because you don'tsupport the podcast, so you
don't have to do anything, Don'tworry about it, just sit there
and look pretty.
So, ladies and gentlemen, whatwe have to do is we're going to

(35:33):
read it, we're going to try tofigure out who it is.
If you can't figure out who itis, we rate it on the F scale,
which is from five to one Fire, ferocious, flat frisbee and
fecal.
Well, that's from five to oneand it when we tell them who the
person is and we figure out oh,we have heard the song.
We'll tell them when's thefirst time we heard this song.

(35:54):
So, um, I guess we'll go.
We'll go this way.
We'll do or do we want to goclockwise how you want to do it,
tanaka?
uh, it doesn't matter doesn'tmatter, okay, I'll start it.

What does blotting mean?
Don't know, I don't know whatthey're talking about when
Denzel was blotting carpet, I'llpack a 9mm.
When Slick Rick made Mona Lisa, when Elisa Bonnet was Beyonce
of her day, I had divas.
Y'all Think I just popped up inthis bitch like a fetus Nah,

(37:01):
pregnant paws.
Give you some second thoughts.
There's room on the bandwagon.
Don't abort.
It's just I don't know, I don'tlike how that just ends like
that.
Oh yeah, it's Lisa Bonet.
I've heard of that.
Who's Lisa Bonet?

Yes, oh yeah, the the song, yeah, yeah, that's the.
That.
That's who I think would danceto nothing even matters, like
that kind of, that kind of womanis dancing to nothing, even
matters, for sure, but anyway.
So, um, yeah, uh, she was.
She was fine, though, I ain'tgonna lie, it's alright, it's

(37:50):
cool.
That's a little better thancool.
I appreciate the metaphors andall that type of shit.
I'll give it a probably aflattish, ferocious-ish,
probably like a 3.5.

You're gonna just read the topone and I'll pull this up for
you because I know you probablydon't remember anything I said
about the scale so yeah, yeahyou're going to read that, and
then you're going to see if youcan guess who guess the song and
the artist.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
If you can't, you know you can Don't worry about
it.
Yeah, don't worry about it.
And then you can also juststate if you liked or disliked.
What you liked or dislikedabout the bars.

Speaker 1 (39:01):
All right.

Speaker 2 (39:01):
And then you rate it on this so 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.
So when you say 5, 4, 3, 2, 1,just say one of these words

beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
Okay, well, neshea, okay, so soyou can some of the previous
winners were oh, I was gonna lether see it honestly because
it's they're on here.
So on the instagram page I willshow you some of the winners.

(01:09:45):
As a matter of fact, I'll justshow you some tnt podcast, hall
of famers, from last year so youcan just look at that.
Let's see what the book'stalking about in here.
Bustin, bustin' for Trump.
Okay, well, mario, when we getyou on the show we're going to
hold you to that.
Mario says he's going tonominate Nice.

(01:10:10):
He's gonna nominate Nyssa.
Slow 3 Tanaka.
That was a pretty legendary.
That was a pretty legendarynight definitely ah boy, talk
about.
My adrenaline was before thedoors even opened there was a
lot going on.

Speaker 3 (01:10:26):
There was a lot going on.
There was a lot going on.
There was a lot going on thatfucking night.
A lot going on, for real man,it's a lot going on.

Speaker 1 (01:10:33):
I don't know, okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (01:10:36):
So you have an idea Of what it is.

Speaker 1 (01:10:39):
Yeah, yeah, what it is.

Speaker 2 (01:10:41):
But you haven't thought about what you want to
choose.
Well, you know what I'll gobefore her, just because I know
I have mine written downsomewhere and I'll just do it.
Just watch me.

Speaker 1 (01:10:53):
Oh my God.
And that's not to correlatewith what you said.

Speaker 2 (01:10:56):
You can be whatever the fuck you want to be, so okay
.
So I know I'm probably going tolose it all y'all, but there's
this comedian named Ricky Smileyand he used to have this show.
Well't even know he might stillhave a radio.
Does he still have a radio?

Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
show.
Do y'all know he does?

Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
yeah.
So I remember when I wasyounger I used to, uh, I used to
, sleep my radio on and I wouldjust be just whatever.
I just I don't know I'd wake upand Ricky Smiley would be on.
And so I remember there was onetime I woke up and like there
was this song and I thought hewas being serious.
But then I heard the song and Iwas like, okay, he's obviously

(01:11:39):
not being serious, it'sobviously a comedic song.
It's a song he did because hewas talking about how he missed
his homeboy.
His name was Robert, and so hehad this song and it's called we
Miss Robert.
And then when it came out I waslike okay, this is obviously a
joke.
And so I was like still sittingin bed just laying down
listening to it and like thesong is basically him talking

(01:12:01):
about we miss Robert, but thenhe talks about everything else
except Robert.
So like it's have you heardthis song before?
Oh, my god, I met this girl theother day.
I said what's your name?
yes, I remember that I'm notgonna lie, if you know.
If you know turnips uh what'sthe word?

(01:12:22):
If you know turnips, uh senseof humor.
He loves stupid shit.
That's like the dumbest shitever, to the point that I let uh
tonic hear it a couple days ago.
Shout out to Tonic he was likebro, this is horrible.
What the fuck are we listeningto?
I'm going to just say thisBefore you vote for whatever
they're going to put on the poll, go and find we Miss Robert by

(01:12:46):
Ricky Smiley.
It's the dumbest shit ever.
That shit is dumb, funny,stupid.
But um, yeah, that's my nomineefor the tnt podcast hall of
fame.
Um, nashay, I hope I've stalledenough for you to pick
something.
Um, so because, yeah, it's yourturn because, yeah, it's your
turn, um okay.

Speaker 1 (01:13:08):
So I pretty much pick something that I feel should go
on there and advocate for.
Why yes?
Okay so I'm gonna just go withwhat's on my record table and go
with Aaliyah like just theartist.

(01:13:29):
Aaliyah the artist thataliyah,or are we talking about the
album?

Speaker 3 (01:13:32):
the artist that's a good one.

Speaker 1 (01:13:36):
I pick Aaliyah.
I feel like when she came outshe was on top of her game and
even still now to the point thatthere was petitioning to
release her music because theywere not releasing her music for
a long time, um, because herfamily was like holding out and

(01:13:56):
stuff yeah, um, so do we stillhave a lead music that we
haven't heard yet?
no, I think all of it's out nowbut people are, but they're the
family's like very strict andthen like if you want a sample,
you have to have like aconversation with them, like you
can't just sample her stuffyeah um, yeah, and I mean I, I

(01:14:16):
personally think, had it notbeen for her tragic passing, she
would still be rocking itpersonally rocking, okay, so
okay, let's.

Speaker 2 (01:14:26):
Let's put this in perspective now.
Uh-huh, are we saying she she'dbe rocking, in the sense of she
would still be doing tours, orshe would still be making new
music and still be relevant?
She would still be making newmusic and be relevant.
I ain't gonna lie.
That's a tall, that's, that's.
I mean look, no, no, here's thething.
Anything is possible, but Iain't gonna lie.

(01:14:47):
That's, that's some pants tofill, because I'm not gonna lie.
After, what are we saying?
Like 2014, r&b got a littlewishy-washy, like I'd probably
I'm not gonna lie had I givealia, I'd probably give her a
career like Monica Brandy, maybe, like they'd be out in the

(01:15:17):
2000s, but she would have thatlegendary where she would maybe
put out a song once or twice.

Speaker 1 (01:15:24):
I think the difference between her and the
Monica and Brandy's is that shekind of like made that shift
where she brought more.
It wasn't just like the melody,if that makes sense, like she
had a little bit more of an edgeto her and she she was dancing
and stuff before.

(01:15:45):
That's true.
No, I mean, you're not wrong no, you're not wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
so I feel like she'd be like, I feel like she
wouldn't have, I feel like shewouldn't pull all her, all of
her eggs into.
I think she would yeah, becauseremember, when she died, queen
of the Dam was out.

Speaker 1 (01:16:02):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:16:02):
She probably would be .
I feel like she'd probably bedoing movies.

Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
Maybe she would be doing.

Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
And it's so funny you say Queen of the Damned,
because I was just listening tosome of the records from that
soundtrack and she probablywould have did some rock and it
probably would have been prettylit.
So apparently she says that shedoesn't think.
So I'm assuming she's talkingabout have we heard all of her
music?
Apparently she says I don'tthink so because Chris Brown
dropped.
Don't Think they know.
So they think there might stillbe more in the vault that we
have not heard.
I think that's a sample, so itis from what song?

(01:16:37):
Well, like I said, I'm notreally big on alia, so I I don't
think I've ever heard any ofher albums.

Speaker 3 (01:16:43):
But um, shout out dirty dan in the building.

Speaker 1 (01:16:47):
Man, I'll shout out dirty dan checking in, you take
a shower dirty danirty.

Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
Dan.
Oh shit, I didn't realize whatyou said.
Dirty Dan, got you, got you.

Speaker 3 (01:16:56):
Shout out, mcduff, you already know.
Shout out.

Speaker 2 (01:16:58):
McDuff, always, always.
We're Carolina's finest.
But yeah, no, I feel like, yeah, no, I ain't going to lie,
that's kind of tough to say thatshe would still be relevant in
2024, like, okay, let's thinkabout all the other singers that
would have I mean, that's beenout, that came and gone from

(01:17:20):
that time.
Like that means she would haveprobably been like a Beyonce and
honestly, I mean to mepersonally, I don't see that.
I don't see that.
But I mean Tanaka, how?
I don't see that.

Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
I don't see that but I mean it's not.
How do you feel about that?
Hmm, yeah, I don't know if Isee that cuz like I don't,
because what was her vocal range?
Like it was like it was morelike a problem not saying, she
can't sing like that, but I'mjust saying like my two cents,

(01:17:54):
which would probably have mecanceled by the end of the year.

Speaker 2 (01:17:57):
Let's talk about it.
Let's talk about it had shestill been here, R Kelly, I
thought that's what she wasgoing with.
No, I'm not going to lie.

Speaker 3 (01:18:09):
I thought that's what you was going with you.
No, I'm not going to lie, Ithought that's when you was
going with it.

Speaker 1 (01:18:12):
You said canceled.
What I was going to say wasthat people were not really
following Beyonce like that.

Speaker 2 (01:18:24):
Okay, hold on, let's calm down now.

Speaker 3 (01:18:27):
He just got out the shower.

Speaker 2 (01:18:29):
He just got out the shower there, you go.

Speaker 1 (01:18:31):
He just got out the shower, actually just got out of
the shower.

Speaker 2 (01:18:32):
There you go, he just got out of the shower, actually
, For your information, theburst of a bubble.
But yeah, no, Okay, well, holdon now.
Let's calm this down nowBecause, look, we understand
that nobody was really talkingabout Beyoncé per se, but let's
also put in perspective that shewas in a group, so of course
they're not going to.
They're going to talk aboutDestiny's Child before they talk

(01:18:53):
about Beyoncé.
It's like how they weren'treally talking about Justin
Timberlake until he got out ofNSYNC.

Speaker 3 (01:18:59):
I mean they were talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:19:00):
NSYNC and they knew that, okay, he could possibly do
something, but yeah, by 2000,.
Like Beyoncé didn't have herfirst hit or her first single
till 2003.
So yeah, I don't know, that's alittle, that's tough yeah
that's.
It's kind of tough, but um, Imean, I guess anything's
possible, but for her to bemaking music and still be
relevant for three decades isthere anybody else?

(01:19:25):
From that era that's stillmaking music.

Speaker 3 (01:19:26):
That's a good question I should, let's.

Speaker 1 (01:19:30):
Let's be honest are you what's your?

Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
favorite song come off that new album still making
music?
That's a good question.
I should, let's be honest.
What's your favorite song fromoff that new album?
I'll give you one better.

Speaker 1 (01:19:42):
What's your favorite song off the album?

Speaker 2 (01:19:44):
before that I had to answer for this album.

Speaker 1 (01:19:46):
Oh, you did, okay, what was it?
What was it?

Speaker 3 (01:19:52):
Nah, I know it.

Speaker 2 (01:19:53):
Yeah, bro, a-town Girl, a-town Girl, right A-T.
What was it?
No, I know, I know.
Yeah, bro, a-town girl, a-towngirl right, yeah, that was an
interesting one, um, but yeah,so like I don't know that's, I
don't know that's, that's atough task, but no for sure,
definitely a legend.
But let me actually, I don'tknow why this popped in my head,
but let me ask you this haveyou seen the biopic?
You haven't okay.

(01:20:14):
Have you seen the biopic?
alia yeah no, I haven't either.
Okay, I just was curious ifanybody that's watching.
Has anybody seen the biopic?
I just hear nothing butnegative things about it, but I
heard it was more of a.
I heard it was more of a.
They just didn't have any ofthe rights to like her music or
any of her stuff.
So I'm like, well, we're justgoing to make her laugh.

Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
So Jug says that Beyonce had a machine behind her
and Aaliyah was soft vocal, like Sade Shia says.
I think it would have been likeChristina Milian or Shanti type
.
I think it would have been likeChristina Milian or Ashanti
type.
She could still sing but stillhas the fashion, still a fashion

(01:20:56):
icon, but more so an actress.
Now I could see her being an.

Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
Ashanti?
Definitely, I could definitelysee her being an Ashanti.
Yeah, but Daria, who the fuckare you talking about?
Anyway, yeah, so Aaliyah that'sa good one.
Aaliyah yeah, just to put a capon it, because we could be

(01:21:23):
talking about Aaliyah forever.
Honestly, what's?

Speaker 1 (01:21:26):
your nomination.

Speaker 2 (01:21:28):
So DJ Tanaka Wait I already nominated K-Way.
Yeah, and it already won.
Shout out to K-Way uh Treats, suicide Treats.

Speaker 3 (01:21:37):
I just had to make sure you know what I'm saying.
Um, let me see when should wego with it.
Um, um, um, um, um.
Let's see.
Man, this whole time I wasn'teven thinking of what I was

(01:22:05):
going to do.

Speaker 2 (01:22:05):
Because we were sitting here talking about
Aaliyah.

Speaker 3 (01:22:08):
Yeah, we was having a good conversation about Aaliyah
.
Yeah, aaliyah, we was having agood conversation about Aaliyah.
Yeah, aaliyah.
5.
You said you heard negativethings, though, about that
biopic.
Yeah, I heard that shit wasterrible.
Oh, dang, I heard that shit wasawful.
John Acons is still bussing umooh still busting 800.

Speaker 2 (01:22:35):
That's interesting.

Speaker 3 (01:22:37):
That's not my right, though that is a beautiful
question, holla, if you need me,has that been your personal
choice to play that during thesocial?

Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
yeah, somebody requested it, that's that don't
sound like aspirins to you inhis pocket.

Speaker 3 (01:22:56):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (01:22:57):
That don't sound like aspirins in his pocket you a
pill, head or something.

Speaker 2 (01:23:00):
Why you talking about these?

Speaker 1 (01:23:01):
aspirins.
That's just what it sound liketo me.

Speaker 3 (01:23:04):
Pill head.
Sorry, bro, you know what I'msaying.

Speaker 2 (01:23:08):
No, girl, we were joking.
If you really gotta go, go, go,pee pee.

Speaker 3 (01:23:15):
Boy.
Is she over here typingmessages out?

Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
Yes, she had to use the restroom.
So, Tanaka, sir, what is yourchoice?

Speaker 3 (01:23:37):
Ramen noodles, ramen noodles, ramen noodles, ramen
noodles.
Why are we choosing ramennoodles?
Um, it's just so funny to mehow, like, how many different
levels there is.
You know, everybody knows.
Just like the classic ramennoodles.
Like you know, everybody knows.
Just like the classic ramennoodles.
Like you know, classic brokeperson snack.
You feel me Everybody goes tolike you could eat them cooked

(01:23:58):
or you could eat them like raw.
Did you ever hear of?

Speaker 2 (01:24:01):
that Folks eat them raw.

Speaker 3 (01:24:02):
I've never seen anybody just really so check
this right, shake this right.
Basically, growing up thehomies we used to have the
little packet.
They used to mash it up, crunchit all up, open the packet,
spring it around, shake it upand then you just eat it like

(01:24:23):
chips type joint.

Speaker 2 (01:24:26):
That's interesting.
Yeah, I don't know Well firstoff, I'm not going to lie, the
smell of ramen noodles net likeit was just I.
I've never had ramen noodles ohfor you never had joints, like
the smell of ramen noodles willmake me just like I'm not gonna
lie.
That's that shit is like not atall like it's interesting, man,

(01:24:46):
um, yeah, so, so it doesn't evenmatter the flavor, no, yeah,
just as soon as that joint getscooked up in the microwave, I'm
like oh yeah, I'm in the otherroom and you're talking about
the cup of noodle, or are youtalking about actual ramen?

(01:25:06):
It may be the cup of noodles,Okay yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:25:08):
I got you Dang.
I ain't have one of them in aminute.

Speaker 2 (01:25:12):
Yeah, like the noodles and noodles, that was
what you were gonna call it likethose, oh my jesus, I can't
stand them but yeah, ramennoodles though, and then it's
obviously there's differentbrands and stuff, and then it's
just crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:25:27):
I got you Mario that's a lot of America's like
perception of it, right, butthen it's like when you actually
have like a real ramen noodledish, like from a japanese
restaurant, it's like a wholenother level you know like just
all the different stuff they addinto it, and you know, I mean
it has to be expected, though, you know like a package ramen

(01:25:48):
noodles.
You know, expected though youknow like a package ramen
noodles.
You know right process and allthat so, but yeah, I just feel
like ramen noodles.
Man, we're getting into thefall season.
Um, you know it's soup noodles.
You know keep you warm, and youknow cozy type, cozy type of
meal right, like the real ramenor like the store-bought ramen.

(01:26:12):
Yeah, that's what we'rediscussing.
So, Nishe, did you ever eat rawramen noodles growing up?
How would you eat it?

Speaker 1 (01:26:25):
I would crush it in a bag and then open the seasoning
packet, put it in there, shakeit up and then put it in a bowl
and just eat it.
Is that not normal?

Speaker 3 (01:26:37):
Turnip didn't know, I don't eat ramen noodles at all.
You're healthy.
Just smell, but um, yeah, turnip said, it makes him
conscious.

Speaker 2 (01:26:50):
The smell, like the raw.
Obviously you can't smell theraw, but like when it's cooked,
like it's like yeah, I can'tyeah, so he didn't know about
the raw you know ac's into thegroup chat there he is also
because it's calledayo-Y-O-A-C-I-R.

Speaker 3 (01:27:12):
So yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:27:13):
So to answer your question, no, but you're just as
bad because you're up with us.
What's his question?
There you go.
He said gang.
Ac says gang, it's 12.
It's 12 am.
Y'all Negroes, don't stop Sleep, oh it says sleep.

Speaker 1 (01:27:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:27:32):
All I can see is that it says live, Amazing.
So yeah, Ramen noodles.
I just feel like it's the brokeperson's snack.
But then it's also like youknow, you get older, you get
some money, you actually havesome real ramen noodles.
You feel me, they put the realyou know what I'm saying?
All that in that process, notprocessed, but when you coming

(01:27:53):
up you can either cook them oreat, like myself in the shade
just explain my chips.

Speaker 2 (01:28:05):
I'm saying probably you, probably probably straight
so there it is, man so that's,that's, that's what's up.
Okay, so that's gonna be aninteresting little three
three-way joint.
So we miss robert alia ramennoodles.
It's gonna be on instagram, probably either tomorrow or the
day after, I don't know.
Y'all just check it outwhenever it drops and y'all vote

(01:28:27):
, not like this shit.
What do we got next?
Song of the Day.

Speaker 3 (01:28:32):
Song of the Day.

Speaker 2 (01:28:33):
Song of the Day.
So, ladies and gentlemen, thisone is going to be interesting

(01:29:08):
because this will probably bethe first song of the day that I
actually didn't even like whenI first heard the song.
But without further ado, mysong of the day is ti's 24th.
Let me say it again ti's 24thsong came out april 29th 2003,

(01:29:29):
2003.
What were you in?

Speaker 1 (01:29:35):
Oh, I was in Florida, tanaka.

Speaker 2 (01:29:37):
where were you in 2003?

Speaker 3 (01:29:40):
Seattle.

Speaker 2 (01:29:41):
I was in California so I'm not gonna lie a lot of
southern stuff I didn't really Ididn't really get.
So this is what I think.
This is probably the first songit was either this or Never
Scared where I discovered TI.
The song came out April 29,2003.
The song 24 is by TI and it's aboastful rap song.

(01:30:04):
It's about the luxuriouslifestyle and success.
Alright, let's pause for asecond.
What happened?
Who are we talking?

Speaker 3 (01:30:10):
about.
She said that's literally aweek after I was born.
Oh baby who?

Speaker 2 (01:30:17):
said that and then and then.
Whoever the little m5 is likeyou, that old, it's crazy.
Oh, that's beautiful dang.
So they're aging us, good Lord, they don't even know how old we
are.

Speaker 1 (01:30:32):
Anyway, so.

Speaker 2 (01:30:37):
Song 24 by TI is a vocal rap song about his
notorious lifestyle and success.
He brags about his expensivejewelry, cars and other
possessions and his ability toattract women.
The song title refers to thefact that he wears 24 karat gold
jewelry and rides on 24 inchrides.
It was track number seven onhis second album, Trap Music,

(01:31:00):
and it was released under GrandHustle, which was under Atlantic
Tanaka let me ask you this whendid Grand Hustle change the
Hustle Gang?
What year was that?
I'm just curious.
It has nothing to do with thefirst there's opposites, I'd say
probably like 20.

Speaker 3 (01:31:22):
I'm trying to think of Trouble man.
If that album was on a HustleGang, is that Trouble Heavy in
the head?
Is that that one?

Speaker 2 (01:31:31):
Yeah, we'll ball and go get it, alright before we go
any further with that, let's seeI want to say like 2010, 2012.
Yeah, I want to say that too,but is there a reason why he did
that?
Was he getting sued orsomething?

(01:31:52):
That he had changed his name,or?

Speaker 3 (01:31:53):
he just was just like .
I think he probably just wantedto.
What's it called Rebrand?
Rebrand the kind of fresh, youknow, the fresh for the new
generation.

Speaker 2 (01:32:06):
Got you, got you, got you All right.
So the sample used in the songwas from a song from the 1920s
called and I'm not going to lieto y'all, I'm going to
completely fuck up the name ofthis song.
I have no idea what it justsays Turandot, act 2 by Giamacco
Puccini.
Do any of y'all want to trythat out?
Was that accurate?

(01:32:26):
Sorry, I'm just sitting therein the face.
That right, there is that.
Look, right, you're coming.
You come up with Cheney.
That's the arm, that's thelittle joint that everybody else
does I mean, not everybody, that's the course.
That's.
That's where he got thatpromise.

(01:32:47):
He probably didn't get thatfrom that.
It's the da-na-na, da-na-na,da-na-na-na.
That's where he got that from.
He probably didn't get thatfrom that first song.
That exact song but that'swhere the cadence came from is a
song from the 1920s, and soeverybody, every rap song after
24, took it as well.

(01:33:09):
I'm trying to think what othersongs of it's crazy on top of my
head right now.
I can't think of none, butthere's, like hella, songs I can
think of that have stolen that.
Oh, rich flex, that's what itwas.
I remember that I was trying tothink of one, but, um, okay,
yeah, um, there is a music videofor 24.
The music video 24 is featuredrappers flaunting his wealth.

(01:33:32):
Oh, my bad.
Rewind that.
The music video uh features tiand he's flaunting his wealth
and luxury.
Um, he's showing wearingexpensive jewelry, driving fancy
cars and surrounded by hishomeboys and beautiful women.
There's only like two people Ican honestly name from that.
Uh, I can think of off the topof my head that was in that

(01:33:54):
video.
Now dj drama and now it's alittle ball that I can think of.
I think that's it.
But, um, what I like about thesong is I always love the beat
and the energy of the song.
The energy of the song like islike.
It's like I feel like that'swhy people like take the, you

(01:34:15):
know the just to show homage tothe song, because, like that
song, I feel like that song iskind of classic, kind of not
classic.
It's timeless, you know.
So, yeah, I feel like that songis really time.
I feel like because what'sactually crazy about that is
that.
Um, what's funny about it is Iremember playing that song.

(01:34:37):
Um, we used to play that songon the bus when we were in
marching band like get us, likehype, but at the time the song
was old.
Like at that time the song wasold, so like us playing, it was
kind of interesting that thatwas the song we chose to like
get hyped for a football game.

Speaker 3 (01:34:54):
But yeah, let's see.
That's so dope that y'all wereplaying it.

Speaker 2 (01:34:59):
Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, my bad, my bad, that's
not what.
I mean, I didn't mean yeah, no,I didn't mean that we played
the song.

Speaker 3 (01:35:19):
We were on on the bus and we'd play the song like
we'd have, like a speaker andthat'd be the song like we'd be
on the bus like money.
Yeah, that's not now.
We didn't.
I don't get to play now wedidn't.
No, we probably could have, though we probably could have,
but no, we didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:35:24):
We didn't play that, but um, yeah.
So dj toon made the beat.
The song pe peaked on theBillboard Top 100 charts at
number 10, and it peaked on theR&B charts at 24 and 15 on the
rap charts and it is, accordingto Wikipedia, certified gold.
The critics generally praised24 for its catchy melodies and

(01:35:47):
TI's energetic performance andthe song's infectious vibe.
However, some critics alsonoticed that the song's lyrics
were very shallow and focusedprimarily on materials and
possession.
So I'm gonna go back to thatstory I was telling y'all about.
So the first time I ever heardthe song was on my mom's like
mix cd and tanaka.
I don't know if you rememberthis story that I told you, but

(01:36:09):
it was a mix cd that I'll neverforget because on it was PINP
the remix.
Do you remember this story andit for some?
I've never heard PINP remix thewhole way through because it
would start with Snoop Dogg'spart and then it would skip,
like it'd be like.
I forgot how the song goes, butit's, I don't know what you

(01:36:30):
heard about me.
Yeah, I drive a Cadillac, ride aPern, cause I'm a Like and it
would just skip, like, and itwould just skip until you
fucking cut it off.
And then so I remember thesecond song was 24's and I heard
it and I think I'm like, Ithink I'm like maybe like 10 or

(01:36:50):
something, and I was was likewhat the fuck is this shit next
like?
And I was just like this is notit, like the fuck is this.
And so honestly and truthfullydon't know when I finally like
went back and listened to it andwas like, wow, like I love this
song.
But after a while, after awhile I uh, you know, probably

(01:37:11):
in one of my favorite ti songswas interesting about this.
I found interesting about theti at the time.
Apparently ti got arrestedwhile on tour and provide uh
violated his probation and thengot sentenced to three years.
Did he do all those three years?
Because I feel like like that'swhat I'm saying.
So like, how long did he do?

Speaker 3 (01:37:30):
I'm not sure, but that was that kind of.
That kind of led to the wholeUrban Legend.
You know, because if youremember the Motivation video,
he had the prison suit on.

(01:37:53):
You know, and I think thataffected, kind of like like Wait
, was that video or was that orwas that?
Yeah, I think asap, oh, asap, motivation, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, um, I think that affected,I think, his album one for urban
legend, because he wasn't ableto fully support the album
because he had bj's on rightokay well, yeah, so, um, yeah,

(01:38:14):
man, that's, that's all I reallygot on that.

Speaker 2 (01:38:16):
Um, if you want to hear like the real beginning of
trap music because at the timewas actually interesting about
trap music is that like trapmusic wasn't really a name yet,
it was still called gangsta rap,and so like, honestly, if it
wasn't for TI, we probablywouldn't have, we probably
wouldn't have, uh, trap music.
But so If you wanna hear Areally early version Of trap

(01:38:36):
music, I highly recommend youListen to that album Trap music.
But I would definitelyRecommend you Listen to 24th If
you haven't already.

Speaker 3 (01:38:42):
So that's Turn up song of the day Um.

Speaker 2 (01:38:48):
Oh, before we move on , nasha, are you familiar with
24?

Speaker 1 (01:38:50):
Yeah, what was the first time?
Yeah, yeah.
What were you about to ask?
The first time I heard itprobably when I was living in
Florida, but I think, similar toTurn Up's experience, when I
first heard it, I wasn't likethat impressed.
I think I probably saw thevideo on the 16th office and I

(01:39:17):
think it really took me a bathwhen I started skating and like
that song came on and ladderslike went crazy.
Right, I was like, oh, I wasnew, I'm into.
You know, I was new.
I went to atlanta, I knew theskating.
So I'm just like, oh, wow, sothat that that was surprising.

Speaker 2 (01:39:36):
But yeah, I, I do like that song, more so now than
I did initially when I firstheard it so let me ask you this
do you feel like it's asituation where you just kept
hearing the song and it's likeall right, it's growing on?

Speaker 1 (01:39:54):
me Probably yes and no, because I do like the beat
of the song.
If you ask me today to tell youa lyric, I could not tell you
anything that's not in thechorus.

Speaker 3 (01:40:10):
That's crazy, I think that's not in the chorus Well
probably so Right yeah.
That's crazy.
I think that we all agree onthat, though the first time I
heard it I didn't even care forit.

Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
You didn't care for it.
Oh, so you're saying what so?

Speaker 3 (01:40:21):
and then it grew on me.
I don't know if it was like a.
I guess that's a good thing,though you want a song that like
.
I feel like I didn't reallylike.
I really was like dang, like, what is this like?
And I think it's wild, how uh,but it's like.
At least it make you feelsomething, though, right, you

(01:40:42):
either really loved it or reallydidn't, you know.
And then it eventually grew onme.
What's interesting, my roommatepointed out, though he was like
it's like a pirate chant.

Speaker 2 (01:40:56):
Yeah, I do remember this conversation.

Speaker 3 (01:40:58):
Is that a?

Speaker 2 (01:40:58):
pirate chant yeah pirate chant.
Like something that was.

Speaker 3 (01:41:04):
You know, and I was like damn, I didn't even think
about it like that.
I didn't either, until you toldme that and I was like damn, I
didn't even think about it likethat.
I didn't either, until you toldme that and I was like damn,
that's actually pretty funny.

Speaker 2 (01:41:17):
I'm like an old pirate yeah.
That's actually pretty funnythat you brought that up,
because I would have neverthought about that.
But all right, so I just got tosay one more thing and then
we're done with the song of theday.
Ti.
We need answers.
Bumping number 8 on NWAStraight Outta Compton.
Why the fuck are you bumping?

(01:41:37):
Express Yourself Like?
Why is that the song you chose?
You could have picked Dope man.
You could have picked 8 Ball.
You could have picked Compton'sIn the House, even Straight
Outta Compton, I probablywouldn't bump that Hell.
Fuck the police you picked.
Express yourself like that's.
That's crazy.
I don't know that's good.

(01:41:57):
Are you familiar with expressyourself by NWA?
I want you to listen to thatsong.
You think, is that gettingbumped in a 64 Chevrolet with 24
for you?
My Freedom of speech, man?

Speaker 1 (01:42:10):
I mean look.

Speaker 3 (01:42:10):
I guess you can bump whatever you want, but like.
What did uh?

Speaker 2 (01:42:19):
I mean probably, If that's the case, I want that to
come out of TI's mouth.
I don't want nobody to look.
I don't want him to be like, yeah, what he said, Okay what do
we do?

Speaker 3 (01:42:27):
Oh yeah, just catch up on what do we miss.

Speaker 1 (01:42:29):
Yeah, what do we miss ?
What the fuck?
I feel like the Shaq.

Speaker 3 (01:42:31):
Shaq.
Yeah, Shaq going to go kind ofcrazy.
Go up a little bit.
Yeah, I'm on, all right, holdon.

Speaker 2 (01:42:36):
Let me see my old eyes.
Let me see I think this is holdon, I think that's Malik, I
believe, and if that is Malik, shout out Malik.
But yeah, they're talking about2003.
And then Sashie was talkingabout that was literally when I

(01:42:57):
was born, or something like that.
And yeah, let's see.
He said flying down 285, butI'm focused.
I felt that that's funny.
Shout out to Mix CDs, burn CDs.
She is you even old enough tobe burning CDs?

(01:43:19):
What you talking about, born in2003.

Speaker 3 (01:43:22):
Shout out to Z man Z on the shake Shout out to Z,
shout out to Z.

Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
But yeah, okay, so I'll just.
I'll just say this.
I'm going to say that's likethe positive song of the NWA
album.
I'm expressing with my fullcapabilities.
I mean it's a cool song, I likethe song.
It's just like, out of all thesongs you chose, express
Yourself.
I mean at least it wasn'tExpress Yourself by Madonna.

(01:43:48):
I mean, yeah, you're not wrongabout that.
That'd be a little weird, forsure.
But I'm just saying like lookAll my people in the chat right
now except Mario.
I know Mario already knows thefucking song.
Go to NWA Shire of Compton andcheck out Express Yourself.
And like I don't know, that shitis crazy to me.

(01:44:10):
To think that's the song hebrushed, so it's hilarious, but
anyway, so yeah, so, um, yeah,so 24s tis.
That's my um song of the dayshit, you right.

Speaker 3 (01:44:22):
I do remember that video of him riding down in that
joint.
Well, I think there's a sceneof him riding down on the
highway, you know with his whip?

Speaker 2 (01:44:33):
Is that the question?
Just out of curiosity, youdon't have to know who that guy
is, would you?
That's riding in the car with?

Speaker 3 (01:44:38):
you, I'm not gonna lie, I ain't seen the video in a
minute, so I gotta Ross, I playthat video so often.

Speaker 2 (01:44:43):
I just keep seeing him do this Like I, that's, like
I don't even know who he is,but yeah, yeah we don't have to
watch that my album of the dayis gonna be an album called

(01:45:27):
country grandma hot shit, be analbum called Country Grandma.

Speaker 1 (01:45:32):
Ah, shit.

Speaker 3 (01:45:33):
And this was Nelly's debut.
Obviously, we've been talking alot about the St Louis Six.

Speaker 2 (01:45:41):
And this has been off-air, though I don't think
we've actually oh, we haven'taddressed it on the podcast.
Well, I don't think so.
What was the first conversation?
You said you had a deep dive onan artist, but I don't think
the other.
I don't think the other umepisode we we talked about.
Okay, I forgot what's our girl.

Speaker 3 (01:46:02):
Oh, little john, that's what little john you did,
little john, right, right Idon't think we did saying
women's tix, but no, we've beentalking about right a lot yeah
so so basically this was Nelly'sdebut album and it's always
interesting for myself to hearabout the history that kind of
led up to these moments Because, you know, obviously we enjoy

(01:46:24):
the music and remember therelease and all the concerts and
singles and stuff, but we don'tactually know the behind the
scenes of what's brewing and ledup to that moment and
everything.
Recently there was a lawsuitfrom Ali and the St Lunatics.

Speaker 2 (01:46:44):
Which ended up just being Ali.

Speaker 3 (01:46:47):
Ended up just being Ali, the St Louis, st Lunatics
six.
They all asked to have theirnames removed from the lawsuit,
so Ali was the only one.
But this album had a lot ofhits.
It had Country Grammar, it hadRide With Me, it had EI.
I'm trying to think if there'sanything else, then just a lot

(01:47:12):
of good album cuts, I feel likeyou can find me in St Louis.

Speaker 2 (01:47:17):
Shout out to the eternal song of the day from a
couple episodes ago.

Speaker 3 (01:47:21):
And so, fun fact, je Epperson that's who produced a
lot of the album.
It's a white dude, it's a whitedude.
So, yeah, man, he was like thego-to white guy.
He's just banging out all thesebeats Fingers in my fingers.

Speaker 2 (01:47:43):
That's crazy.

Speaker 3 (01:47:44):
I would have never known that.
And I guess the story behindCountry Grammar was that the
song at least Nelly heard thebeat and he's just like bro,
like this is out of here, likey'all gotta hop on this, like
this, you know, and I guessnobody really like took to it.

(01:48:07):
You know, I'm saying I guessthey claim that they had helped,
you know, like little partshere and there with the song,
but at the end of the day nellywas the one that really wanted
to do it, because nobody reallywanted it.
So he went and recorded it,took it to the club because he
was so excited about it and, youknow, let the dj, you know,

(01:48:28):
break the record in the club andit went crazy and that's why it
was called Hot Shit, becausethat was the original name of
the song but, obviously theycouldn't have that for branding
purposes and stuff, so theyadded, you know.
So, yeah, but this work isinteresting because Ali has a

(01:48:52):
lot of claims that he wrote mostof the country grammar, or him
and the Saint Lunatics, they allhelped Nelly pretty much write
the whole album.
So it's to the point where whenpeople be like, oh, I miss that
old Nelly, like that countrygrammar nelly, it hurts ollie

(01:49:15):
because he's like, damn, whaty'all saying is like you miss,
like when I was writing fornelly, you know saying like
y'all miss that, you know, andso, um, it's a really
interesting thing because it'slike I feel like both parties
are hurt, like nelly and ali,and so to see them go back and

(01:49:36):
forth like it obviously it's nota good look and I wish that
they would, you know, just sitdown as men and kind of hash
that out, you know.
But, um, I don't know if it's athing where it's like they too
old and it's like too far past, that like too much damage has
been done that they can'tresolve that you know.

(01:49:58):
But yeah, basically Ali, alijust played such a weird kind of
role, though, because it's likehe didn't want to be famous.
You know what I'm saying, butthen he wants all this credit
and it's just like, I don't knowit's.

(01:50:18):
It's like because I could seenelly's point.
You know, like ali maybe didn'tfeel like doing all the
interviews or doing all theshows and being on the road like
he wanted to be with his kids, you know.
So it's like you can't, I don'tknow.
I feel like you can't have itboth ways.
You know what I'm saying.

(01:50:39):
Like you want to get paid likea superstar, but you don't want
to pop out to everything.
But Nelly was the one that wasalways doing that.
Like he was going to all theshows, all that.
He always wanted to be the star.
Like be a star though.
Like he wanted that and so, um,I don't know, it's just kind of

(01:51:01):
an interesting dynamic going on,you know, uh, with all that and
then, um, I don't know.
I mean I see why Nelly blew upthough because, like his, his
voice was the most distinct outof the St Lunatics, you know,
like his whole delivery andeverything Because I guess they

(01:51:24):
said one of the A&Rs had justchosen Nelly out of the group.
Basically, it's like he's astar.
They could hear it.
That goes back to Nelly said hewas a big fan of Bone Thugs and
so that's why he kind of hadthat.
The melodic rapping.
Yeah, so is.

(01:51:44):
That's always interestingbecause it's like dang as much
as, like you emulate your idols,it will never sound like them
no you know what I mean.
Like no matter how hard you try,so it's like it ends up
creating a new, whole new sound.
You know for the mean.
Like no matter how hard you try, so it's like it ends up
creating a new, whole new sound.
You know, for the nextgeneration, yeah, but that's
what transforms into yourself.
Yeah, exactly exactly so, but um, but yeah.

(01:52:11):
So it's crazy because you know, city Spud, he was on ride with
me and he pretty much missedlike the whole glory of, like,
the St Lunatics and that was,you know, because I think they
had shot the video or about toshoot the video, and then he had

(01:52:34):
to go to jail because he wascaught up in a situation.

Speaker 2 (01:52:39):
Oh, he wasn't in the video.

Speaker 3 (01:52:40):
All right, i'm'm not sure.
I couldn't remember if he was.

Speaker 2 (01:52:42):
I thought I saw somebody rapping his part okay,
I mean I wouldn't even know whatit looks like so yeah, um, so
yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:52:50):
So anyway, that whole situation happened.
They told him just take thecharge.
He'll probably get like threeyears and then like he'd be able
to come out with them and allthat he ended up getting eight,
and like that was pretty much, Iwould say, the peak of nelly's
career we think from definitely2000 to like 2008 the 2000s

(01:53:13):
basically, yeah, anything youknow, 2010s is yeah, so, so yeah
, it was so unfortunate, but butyeah, backstory on the same
lunatics, real, briefly, see,it's two different claims
already from the, because Nellysays that it was him, city Spud

(01:53:40):
and, I think, kwon, what's hisname?
Kwon Kwon, kwon Kwon, and theywere all school buddies and they
were the St Lunasics.
And then they added Murphy Leeand Ali.
They added Murphy Lee and Ali,and then Ali says that they had

(01:54:03):
a thing where they they want tocreate a group, but he was
saying all the rules that theywanted for the group, like we're
not going to talk aboutgangbanging, we're not going to
talk about killing people youknow what I'm saying?
All these different things andslowly, like people just started
leaving the room because theydidn't want to be a part of it,
to the point where it was likethose were the people that were

(01:54:26):
left in the room and Ali wassaying how he so they do agree
that Ali was kind of one, thathe's the oldest he kind of
taught them how to rap and likerhyme schemes and stuff like
that and different flows andeverything of that nature.
So, but Ali also got them signedto a bad contract and that was

(01:54:51):
a situation where theyapproached Nelly.
They they were like, yeah, yougotta sign this contract.
And he's like wait, what?
Like I wanna discuss it.
You know, with my group.
They're like everybody signedexcept you.
And he's like what, everybodysigned it but me.
So at that point he felt likehis back was against the wall,

(01:55:14):
like if he didn't sign he wasn'tgonna be in the group.
You know, they were just gonnafind somebody else.
So he thought they was going tosign the contracts as a group,
like a whole crew.
But I guess Ali had convincedeverybody to sign it because he
had read like a book on themusic business and so Nelly had

(01:55:37):
to sign it.
Just, you know, and that's whenthey had their minor hit at the
St Lunatics.
That was good, like locally, but it didn't really blow up
nationally.
So when the second contractcame around, I feel like because
of the first situation, theydidn't really trust Ali.
So then that's when, you know, nelly ended up going to New York

(01:55:58):
.
They over there talking to himand um, he claimed, you know his
.
He states that, like you know,I was always trying to get the
group signed but it just wasn'thappening.
Like nobody was looking for us,like that, Nobody was trying to
sign a group.
And then the dude that the A&Rhe was talking to was if he had

(01:56:20):
worked with Mase and he hadworked with Biggie.
And if you know the backstoryon both Mase and Biggie, mase
was part of a group calledChildren of the Corn you know
what I'm saying and that waslike a Harlem group rap group.
Biggie was obviously part ofjunior mafia, you know.
So he knows what he's doing asfar as like groups and then like

(01:56:43):
a, you know, solo artist.
So he was like yo, I know youwant to get your group signed,
but it's it's not looking likeanybody's bite and not trying to
sign like a group.
The best you could do isprobably get a solo joint and
then put your group on.
And so that was kind of theagreement of what happened,

(01:57:05):
because Murphy leaving spoke onit like he was like the only
reason I got an album is becauseNelly did so well, you know,
because the record label theysold so much that Nelly was like
no, I'm not going to dropanother album until you give my
folks an album.

(01:57:26):
So anyway, just a littlebackstory on Country Grammar.
I hope the St Lunatics all getit together, including Ali, you
know, because yeah, man, it'sjust unfortunate.
But debut album Nelly, countryGrammar, be sure to check it out

(01:57:48):
.
Introduction to the World.
I really feel like you know, talk to bottom.
You know it's a very cohesiveproject and you know we got the
hits on there.
So you know, talk to bottom.
You know it's a very cohesiveproject and you know we got the
hits on there, so you know.
So what's actually interestingabout?

Speaker 2 (01:58:05):
this album, not even an album, but Gina, you remember
Gina?
Yeah, she put me on to Thickie, thick Girl.

Speaker 3 (01:58:14):
Yep.

Speaker 2 (01:58:15):
And that's like the last song that I remember
getting from off of that albumwas that song, but um ali always
mentions that one oh does heand he's on that song, isn't he?

Speaker 3 (01:58:27):
he's like yeah, yeah, you know diggy, dig, girl, like
he's over there rapping around.
He's like oh, yeah, the nextone.
You know what I'm saying?
The flow.

Speaker 2 (01:58:36):
He's like remembering the flow and all that and stuff
right what was I about to say?
Oh, so, as we always ask aroundthis time.
So, tanaka, have you heard?

Speaker 3 (01:58:47):
all of Nelly's projects except for the country
album.
I didn't hear the country album.
There's a country.

Speaker 2 (01:58:55):
I didn't know you had a country album.
Yeah, yeah, out of the albumsyou've heard, where does country
grammar sit?

Speaker 3 (01:59:11):
I say like probably top three, top three.
I don't think it's one.
Well, for me it's not one.
I like the Suit album you know, that's personally, though.
Look, I'm asking you so it'd beSuit, and then we'll be after

(01:59:31):
Suit it's a toss up, I'd saybetween Country Grammar and
Nellyville.

Speaker 1 (01:59:37):
I feel that have you heardmar and Nellyville,
nellyville I feel that Hasheahave you heard all of Nelly's
albums.
I've not heard all of them.

Speaker 3 (01:59:45):
Which ones have yours ?

Speaker 1 (01:59:50):
Probably the first.
Oh thanks, probably the first.
I think I heard the first twoand then just singles from the
others.

Speaker 2 (02:00:02):
So if you had to choose between Nellyville and
Country Grammar, which one wouldyou go?

Speaker 1 (02:00:06):
with Nellyville.

Speaker 3 (02:00:08):
I could relate to that.
Well, I could feel that whatabout you?

Speaker 2 (02:00:13):
I don't think I've heard any Nelly albums all the
way through but, like I said, soI that's probably the most I've
ever heard.
The nelly album was countrygrammar because when I was
younger, my my uncle used toplay it when we'd be riding
around with him right yeahthat's what's your.

Speaker 3 (02:00:32):
What's your view on nothing?
Just curious, like as an artist.

Speaker 2 (02:00:35):
He was like my first glimpse of a rapper in life
right like he was, like thefirst person.
I'm like, oh okay, like hemight be my favorite rapper I
think julia said that.

Speaker 3 (02:00:47):
Uh, he stopped after another bill in saint louis I'm
trying to think what was thatwas?

Speaker 2 (02:00:54):
was it sweat and suit ?

Speaker 3 (02:00:56):
after them.
Yeah, yeah, rob Downey changedit longer but in between that,
so it was Country Grammar St.

Speaker 2 (02:01:13):
Lunatic's album.
Nellyville Murphy Lee album, because I remember you said so
after every Nelly album he triedto put it there, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:01:20):
So which album is tip ?

Speaker 2 (02:01:20):
drill, tip drills on the remix album.

Speaker 3 (02:01:24):
Remix album yeah, because tip drill is just the
remix of er oh okay, yeah, sothat came out, I think 2003.
Don't want money, air like wedon't give a fuck, yep.

Speaker 2 (02:01:42):
Honestly, I didn't even know that was a remix of EI
until I heard which isinteresting.
You know, there's like twodifferent versions of Tick Drill
.
Nah, I didn't know that.
Yeah, like there's the versionthat's the video version where
you're throwing money in the airlike we don't give a fuck, and
then there's a version that'sjust him.
I'm a sucker for cornrows andmanicured toe that is
interesting speaking of.

(02:02:03):
Does anybody else have wetalked about that, tanaka?
The fact that he says manicuredtoes?

Speaker 1 (02:02:10):
well, you want him to say pedicure I mean it's easier
um I think it's like st louistalk oh, is that st louis.

Speaker 3 (02:02:20):
It's crazy because, like that's, that's a verse,
that ali so ali, um, becausehe's taking credit for many gear
toes.
No, no, he's saying how he wassaying how.
Um, because obviously heunderstands people are like oh,
you're just over here takingcredit for like all of Nelly's
lyrics and stuff, and he's like.

(02:02:40):
He's like don't get me wrongLike Nelly can rap you know what
I'm saying but it just takeshim a lot longer to write.
You know bars and stuff, youknow.
So, like Nelly could give youlike a hot 16, like one verse,
but to finish a whole song waswhere he would have the issue
and that's when they would comein and help him finish.

(02:03:02):
Like the rest of the song.
Yeah, so it's like that's whyhe mentions that verse, though
on the shake your tail feather, like he's like that's nelly,
like top to bottom, like that'sall, that's that's what he do.
Like he could give you a hotverse, you know I'm saying, but
like, as far as the whole song,it takes him a lot longer, you
know so.

(02:03:23):
But, yeah, shake your tailfurther though oh, what's up?
shout out to Nelly come tograndma.

Speaker 2 (02:03:31):
Yeah, all right, so we got what we got.
Next DJ Talk.
Who's DJ Talk?

Speaker 3 (02:03:39):
Yeah, dj Talk, dj Talk.

Speaker 2 (02:03:46):
Beautiful, that's beautiful.
We have a shit with this.
So this isn't per se a question.
This is more just an open topic.
This is something I thoughtabout because I was just like I
don't know.
I don't know.

(02:04:09):
Just think of the person that Iam.
I just find it hard to open upto customers, in a sense where
it's like I'm like conversingwith them and like being
friendly with them, because I'mnot gonna lie.
Certain customers, I feel like, try to take advantage, and I

(02:04:29):
mean take advantage in a senseof where you do get friendly and
you are talking and you knowit's cordial and all that, but
then all of a sudden they'll hityou with a hey, turn up, can
you get me inside?
I ain't got, I ain't got themoney for it and I'm not gonna
lie.
That's like one thing.
That's like like okay.

Speaker 1 (02:04:51):
So you're obviously just trying to take advantage
you feel like it's hard for youto get close to customers
because they present asopportunists sometimes yes okay
what are your thoughts on that?
Um, I mean, I only experiencedthat once, and that was during

(02:05:13):
the whole lotto thing atcafeaffe, talk about a
clusterfuck.

Speaker 2 (02:05:21):
Shout out to Mulatto for putting that shit together,
that shit.
Shout out to the designer thatput all that shit.
Yeah, that was lit it fullytransformed the inside of my
head.
Yeah, that shit is.

Speaker 1 (02:05:33):
But I only experienced that one time where
people were hitting me.
But I only experienced that onetime where people were hitting
me asking like people who Idon't typically speak to
regularly or who don't hit myline and was like, oh, you're
DJing today and I'm like y'alldon't never be pressed for when
I'm DJing, but now y'all want tobe pressed.

(02:05:54):
Yeah, are you going?
Can you get me in?
I mean, it's a free event.
You can get to just rsvp or not.

Speaker 2 (02:06:02):
And then it's not even.
It's not even just to get inthings.
Hey, can you give me a ride?
Or hey, can you, can I can you?
Oh my, oh, let's not even talkabout.
Well, I don't know if tanakawants to talk about this, but
there was a certain person thatthought they were cool with him
and was like hey, can I stay atyour house?
I don't know Exactly, I'm notgoing to lie to y'all for the

(02:06:28):
people that are watching or thepeople that are listening.

Speaker 3 (02:06:29):
They be trying to hunt on us, like bro.

Speaker 2 (02:06:33):
that's why I'm really not open to a lot of different
people, because, like bro, don'tget, don't, don't, don't get to
asking me questions like thatlike, like, I'm like, like, the
only time the only time I talkto you is at is at where I yeah,
I was thinking that apologies, let's talk about it.

Speaker 3 (02:06:53):
I went to the bathroom and I had the mic on.
Oh, you did so.
They heard you.

Speaker 2 (02:06:58):
Oh it was you they?

Speaker 3 (02:06:59):
heard me, it's all good.

Speaker 2 (02:07:03):
Oh, my Jesus, Mario, and then.

Speaker 1 (02:07:04):
Turner said to Troy a lot of shit.

Speaker 2 (02:07:07):
Oh my God, they probably didn't hear what you
said.
Bro, I'm glad you weren'ttaking a shit bro.

Speaker 1 (02:07:12):
God damn, but did y'all hear the sink turn on
afterwards?
That's what's important.

Speaker 3 (02:07:16):
Oh, my God.

Speaker 1 (02:07:17):
Of course, yeah, let's talk about it.

Speaker 2 (02:07:18):
Mario, Did you hear the sink turn on?
Did you watch this?

Speaker 3 (02:07:20):
Of course, man, Of course you can smell the.
What's the soap?
The soap on my hands.

Speaker 2 (02:07:27):
I got you.
Okay, look, you just got tomake sure.
But yeah, bro, so yeah, that'smy bad.

Speaker 3 (02:07:35):
What was the question ?

Speaker 2 (02:07:35):
so it's not a question, it's just more of a.
I feel like it's hard for me toget like cordial or friendly
with customers, because some ofthem like to take advantage and
you talk to them long enough andthey're like, hey, can't, can
you, can you get me in?
Or hey, can you do this?
Hey, can you, can I borrow tendollars?
Or hey, can I, like I saidextreme can I say yeah, can I

(02:07:59):
stay at your house?

Speaker 1 (02:08:00):
yeah, for sure, I think that's a well knowing you.

Speaker 2 (02:08:05):
I think that's just a general statement in general,
like it's not just customers,it's just people no, no, I mean
as a as uh as devon devon isprettyvin is a lot easier to
talk to than turn up.
A lot easier and honestly andtruthfully, if I get to know you
as a person, I'm probably goingto be able to determine if you

(02:08:27):
can stay at my house or not.

Speaker 1 (02:08:28):
Right.

Speaker 2 (02:08:29):
But me talking to you at the strip club, or me just
talking to you at the diner, orme just talking to you at the
skating rink?
No, absolutely not.

Speaker 1 (02:08:38):
That makes sense, I think, with that.
Like I said, I've onlyexperienced that one time.
In general I'm not a fan ofopportunists, which is like I'm
just trying to get close to youbecause I'm trying to get
something.
But I guess for me that's why Ikind of more so operate on like
low if you will, like I don'twalk around, small thing, who I

(02:09:01):
am, what I do, what connectionsI have, like it's just, if you
know me, you get to know me.
For me, and then by default ofbeing close to me, then the
resources that I have, I willgladly share them with you, you
know.
But yeah, I think it comes withlike just setting boundaries,
so like I just even think oflike the diner and how people

(02:09:26):
think I'm a hard, but becauseI'm like you setting a boundary.

Speaker 2 (02:09:32):
Yeah, it's just like.

Speaker 1 (02:09:34):
I wanna do this.
Can I put my bag here?
No, you cannot.
People be like do you have anoutlet?
There are 12 million outletsbehind there and I'm like no,
but that's another thing too, like it could be something as
little as that.

Speaker 2 (02:09:45):
Like where you're like they obviously tell you we
can't hold your shit.
They're like hey, we come hereso often.
Can you just hold my shit?
That's one.
But that's why I'm so.
Don't talk to me.
I'm not trying to get to knowyou, I don't care.

Speaker 3 (02:09:59):
I'm not holding you shit, bro, don't follow me.
The rules, even they, were likewhere's your mic cover?
Oh, I don't need one.
Yes, you do.

Speaker 1 (02:10:09):
I wasn't asking you.
You know what I'm saying.
That's why you should know therules.
Then, and I tell people all thetime what you don't understand
is if I make the exception foryou, I have to make the
exception for everybody, foreverybody.
It makes my job harder.

Speaker 2 (02:10:25):
Right.

Speaker 1 (02:10:27):
And then if something happens to your stuff that you
ask me to hold, then I'm heldresponsible.

Speaker 2 (02:10:33):
Oh no, I'm not, that's your fault.

Speaker 1 (02:10:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:10:36):
I tell everybody that you trying to leave your shit
in the DJ booth, Leave it atyour own risk.
So just know there's a lot ofmotherfuckers that come into the
DJ booth, so just know you'releaving it at your risk.
That's on you.

Speaker 1 (02:10:49):
I ain't watching your shit.
What's?
Been your experience as themost welcoming of the three here
.

Speaker 2 (02:10:57):
Yeah, mr Parking, as the most welcoming of the three
here.

Speaker 3 (02:11:02):
Yeah, mr parking lot pimp, I'm not gonna lie bro.

Speaker 2 (02:11:03):
That's why I don't hang out afterwards, um don't
get to know me I don't know, don't get to know me, it's crazy
.
Oh, if I want to know you, I'llget to know you, I promise yeah
, I don't know it's.

Speaker 3 (02:11:11):
It's definitely a fine line for sure.
Um, yeah, it's tough, it'stough man, it's tough, it's
tough man, it's tough.
I really I feel like I'vebecome better about setting
boundaries and just knowing, like you know, when to back up.
Yeah, just wanting to like, letpeople know, like, yeah, like I

(02:11:36):
can't, I can't do it, can't doit for you Know what I'm saying?
Just plain and simple.
It's crazy.
Them folks had hit me duringBell Out Monday and I'm over
there filming.
They want me to come get themin the line.
It's just like bro, like.

Speaker 2 (02:11:54):
There's a couple people that hit me with that,
but I tell everybody the samething and it's honest I don't be
on my phone when I'm DJing sosorry I be filming when the
session going on.

Speaker 3 (02:12:04):
Once I'm in there, it's like I'm locked in, yeah,
and so the end, the four day Iride with them and all that, but
I hit them before I went inthere.
So you should have let me knowthen, like, or at least give me
a heads up.
You did.
But once you're in that line, once I'm already in the ring and
moving and grooving in there,it's like it's it's rats,

(02:12:26):
because, yeah, I already startedrecording and stuff.
Especially if I startedrecording, there's a slight
chance that he you know I'mparlaying, and still you know
saying what's up to folks thatmaybe then I could you know what
I'm saying accommodate you.
But once I'm on the floorskating and recording, it's a
wrap, like I'm already in thezone, like you know what I mean

(02:12:48):
and all that.
So, but as far as djing, yeah,I don't be on my phone when I'm
djing like right.

Speaker 2 (02:12:54):
So yeah, and honestly , the only time I am on my phone
is when I'm like looking I'mprobably looking at like the
format of the night to just seelike if I'm doing, if I'm making
the right time decisions.

Speaker 3 (02:13:05):
But yeah, I'm not checking my messages right, I'm
not checking it for you, right?

Speaker 2 (02:13:08):
so yeah, so, yeah, so , and and I mean I'm not gonna
lie, trying to accommodate likejust piggyback off what you said
, I'm not gonna lie bro, becauseonce to accommodate, like just
piggyback off what you said, I'mnot going to lie bro, cause
once I accommodate one, I got toaccommodate all.
And then on top of that, thatmeans that that that one thing
that one accommodate is going toturn into that.

Speaker 3 (02:13:27):
Yeah, let me stay at your house.
It's just a can of worms.

Speaker 1 (02:13:30):
This man is asking me to stay at your house.

Speaker 2 (02:13:33):
Oh, bro, like I'm not , I'm not, I'm not gonna lie,
that's I haven't got thatquestion yet.
But like I hate roommates, I'vealready had my roommate
situation.
I've had many, I mean I've had afew people come here and feel
welcome and be like, playfully,be like you want a roommate and
I'd be like no, not at all likeI don't, I don't like I've come

(02:13:54):
to the point where I get into myhouse and I'm like, wow, I
really don't like people Like Iwould love to just stay here by
myself for a couple of inches, hibernate by myself.
So that's just more personalstuff.
But I don't know, I don't knowif there's a moral to this

(02:14:15):
conversation, but, likeTanakaaka, you gave a face.
Is this something?

Speaker 3 (02:14:23):
oh, um, you're about to ask yeah, no, it's not really
a face, it's just um why I getto ask do y'all feel like, once
you live solo, like you couldnever go back to roommates ever
again?
Mentally I feel, like yes, yeahfor me no

Speaker 1 (02:14:44):
because, because, now that I think about it, I'm like
dang like I think I've actuallyhad roommates like oh, I don't
think I've ever lived yes, I'vehad roommates for a long time,
and then I lived by myself for ashort time and then, being a
people pleaser, ended up havingroommates and it just was like a

(02:15:06):
bad time for me and then wentback to having roommates.
I'm not opposed to havingroommates.
I think I'm more stern andsolidified as far as what I look
for for a roommate.
So it's not a matter of oh, youcan split bills and save money.

(02:15:27):
I don't need help with that,I'm straight.
I'd rather work harder to keepmy peace than to live with
somebody who.
I just can't deal with yourpersonality or character and
your lack of cleanliness.
It's one thing if I'm messy,shut up.

Speaker 3 (02:15:50):
I'm not going to lie.

Speaker 2 (02:15:51):
I've gotten to the point where I'm like if I were
to, just for some reason, I wereto wake up and go to my kitchen
and I would see somebody, Iwould just get irritated.
I feel like I would getirritated to the point that it
was like it'd be like asituation where, like I'd have a
girl over, or like she wouldspend the night, or whatever,

(02:16:12):
and I would walk to the kitchen.
I just have to breathe in andbreathe out.
Why the fuck are you here?
Why are you here?
But yeah, I don't know.
I feel like I'm better off.
I don't know, maybe that is alittle piece of Devin that's
like yeah, let's talk about it.

Speaker 3 (02:16:34):
No, I was really.
Yeah, I appreciate that.
That.
No, he was just basicallysaying that I'd be in the cut,
like I do be out there, but Istill like, like he, he be
peeping that I'd be in the cut.
Though you know, I don't, Idon't always talk to any and
everybody.
You know what I'm saying.
I'm friendly, but it's not likelike I don't, I don't know, I

(02:16:59):
don't.
He gets it man, he, he be outthere seeing how I move look,
look, look bro, as long as itmakes sense to you bro yeah fuck
you jb, you know checking inwith folks briefly.

Speaker 1 (02:17:10):
Well to your original statement.
I think I don't mind supportingpeople, as long as it comes
from a genuine place.

Speaker 2 (02:17:18):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (02:17:19):
And so the second.
It starts to seem like I onlyhear from you or you only hit me
when you need something.
You're going to get cut.

Speaker 2 (02:17:29):
Get the ugly side of it yeah.
It's got to be genuine and it'sgot to make sense.
It's got to be genuine, it'sgot to make sense.
Yeah, that's like by somemiracle, you do get a good deed
out of me.
It's just got to be genuine andit's got to make sense.
That's it, that's it, that's itand that's all.

(02:17:50):
Yeah, yeah, you got anything.
It's like your mind racing.
You got anything else.

Speaker 3 (02:17:55):
you're trying to say no, I don't think so, man, I
think that's mainly it, uh,because I I just be looking at
like I don't ever ask you foranything he's like you know what
I'm saying I need nothing fromyou yeah, I mean okay, but I'm
not gonna lie.

Speaker 2 (02:18:15):
I'm not a when it comes to that perspective.
I don't want.
When someone does ask forsomething, I don't like.
I'm not a tick for tat type ofperson, like if I'm giving it to
you, I'm just giving it to youyeah, yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:18:29):
But I'm saying it's like when I fold started to get
a wildin on what they asking for.
It's like where you asked mefor all this like well, people
are mostly egocentric.

Speaker 2 (02:18:39):
Oh, you're like where's my where's?

Speaker 3 (02:18:40):
my love, no, no, it's just like.
Sometimes I just be wonderingwhat makes folks so comfortable
to ask for all that when it'slike you let them it's not
really.

Speaker 1 (02:18:52):
I don't think it's a matter of comfort.
It's a matter of why the hellnot?
Yeah, it's like I.
Most people are egocentric.
Like I said, they worry abouttheirs and what they can get,
how they can get it.
They're seldomly thinking abouthow it affects or impacts other
people.

Speaker 3 (02:19:11):
I'm sick of this man laughing no, I just thought as
long as why?
Because?
Because I was thinking aboutthe nice and slow hoodie.
Nice and slow hoodie Breezy wasselling to.
Oh, oh, beautiful.
And he was like Tell him to saythe story.

Speaker 2 (02:19:33):
I vaguely remember the story, but basically it was
Basically.
He was like hey, this is is.
Oh, how much is the jacket?
The jacket is 40 bucks.
Oh hey, do you think I can getit for 20?
Because I'm gonna promote it orsomething?
I'm gonna promote it and I'malways gonna wear it and some
other shit like that.
I don't know okay, did I askyou to promote it.

(02:19:55):
Look, he'm just glad.
I'm just glad it wasn't me overthere.

Speaker 3 (02:20:00):
And Breezy stood on the.
He's like, look, no, we can'tdo it.
Breezy was the perfect person.

Speaker 2 (02:20:05):
Oh no, breezy is the shout out to Breezy.

Speaker 3 (02:20:07):
Shout out to Breezy.

Speaker 2 (02:20:08):
The perfect person to have at every merch table.
He doesn't take any shit.

Speaker 1 (02:20:13):
No, it was funny watching him doing that karaoke
on his birthday.
That was hilarious.
I thought I was good at workingon people.
His face was inoculate.
That was great.

Speaker 2 (02:20:28):
I feel like Breezy's big enough that niggas won't try
him.
He's like, yeah, what you gonnado, nigga, Like I don't know.

Speaker 3 (02:20:36):
It's just funny, because Breezy was like he was
like good folks, was just like, look man, I'm just, I'm just
trying to support man.
It's like that's great, that'sgreat that you're trying to
support, but look, the price isthe price like like and then he

(02:20:56):
somehow came up with the money.

Speaker 1 (02:21:00):
Of course he did.
This ain't no flea market, sir.

Speaker 3 (02:21:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:21:05):
That's funny.

Speaker 3 (02:21:10):
