Hello, and welcome to the Tough Cover Radio Show. It

music could never be more fitting than it is today
at CM Punk Main Events his first WrestleMania, so cult
of personality leading us in very fitting.

As you see the shirt here. We got punk on,
we got punk on, and we got.

the next forty five forty minutes or so. We've got
Nick Pcon in the middle there. You can follow him

Speaker 4 (01:51):
Nick.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
How we feeling.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
We got a unless that's just me?

Speaker 5 (01:59):
We have a little bit of a technical difficulty with
Nick over there.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
I can you hear him?

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Roy? I think he's on mute Nicky.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Nick commuted over there? But here you just heard right
there is It's ROYD Burton.

Speaker 5 (02:10):
You can follow him on Twitter at the BS line,
one of my favorite followers over there on Twitter talking
all things football, FATS, football, and of course professional wrestling.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Roy how we feel in this WrestleMania weekend?

Speaker 6 (02:21):
For those who don't know, I have a little bit
of a calendar adjustment for those of you who may
not know, Today is Mark Henry Junior super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Right?

Speaker 6 (02:28):
Super Bowl is not two months ago? Today is Mark
Henry Junior super Bowl? Especially today specifically because seem Punk
being in the main event at WrestleMania forty one day one.
It's going to be an amazing event from Mark Henry
Junior probably, I guess probably about twelve hours from now. Somewhere,
you know, in Mark Henry's living room, tears will be
streaming down his face when Living Color plays Culture Personality Live,

(02:51):
when CM Punk comes down to the ring.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Is that an accurate assessment?

Speaker 5 (02:54):
Mark, I've been fighting for this for nineteen years. Roy
Burton Survivor Series those six in Philadelphia. I was there
chant and seem Punk when he was out there with
d X and the Hardy Boys and that five man tag.
I've been fighting for this guy since since I can
remember him popping up in WWE. The minute I saw him.
I didn't know about the indie stuff before he went

(03:16):
to WW. I just fell in love with what I
saw in the ring, and it's been an odyssey with
me and see him Pump and you mentioned this is
my super Bowl. I also have my other super Bowl
coming up next Thursday on the NFL Draft. It is
a fact week, so we're gonna talk about that later
on in the show as well, little NFL Draft and
NBA Playoff preview with my coach Sean Bernard, who's back

(03:36):
in the studio on the ones and twos.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
But let's try Nick pacconagain or are we back still
on mute? Over there?

Speaker 5 (03:45):
Nick, check your audio settings and what it's coming in
as we'll get that figured out over there. Let me
kick it over to Roy first. Let me just ask
you this, what match are you coming into this weekend
most excited for? Obviously we have the two main events.
We have another title match that's opening the show today,

(04:06):
We've got two women's title matches, a different kind of
injury going into both. What maybe you throw another one
at me? What match are you coming into this weekend?
Rarn and ready to go to sick.

Speaker 6 (04:16):
I'm really excited to see the match between Jade and Naomi.
I mean the build of that match has been really good.
Like when Naomi came back, excuse me, when Jade came
back at Elimination.

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Chamber and basically, you know, curb stomped Naomi.

Speaker 6 (04:29):
Like I thought it was gonna be kind of one
of those kind of walkover feuds where you know, Jay
comes back from injury and she just kind of, you know,
elevates herself to the top of the car. But the
character building out of both of those ladies these past
few weeks has been amazing. I mean, we've seen a
lot of growth in Naomi's character. I think this probably
is a little bit of a boost for her, Like
you could put the rocket on her and kind of
move her to the top of the card after this.

(04:51):
So if you asked me two months ago, you know,
whether I was looking forward to this match that much,
I'd be like, yeah, you know, kind of luke warm,
but you know, the character development and stuff that's happened
on and off off the main camera between these two
women has been fantastic and I'm really looking forward to
seeing how that match plays out tonight.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
Yeah, that's that's gonna be a fun one for sure.

Speaker 5 (05:09):
I think that it'll be interesting to see if Bianca
is involved in any way in that or if Jade
and Naomi kind of get involved in that match tomorrow
based on what happens in that match today. I think
those two matches kind of go hand in hand a
little bit there. But let's go one more try here
for pecone. Uh No, let's let maybe back out and

(05:32):
come back in that. Sometimes Streamyard has some weird stuff
like that, but Roy, let me, let me throw it
back to today and we have a big women's title
match today that I think.

Speaker 4 (05:44):
I don't know if there was a lot of people excited.

Speaker 5 (05:45):
About Tiffany Stratton and Charlotte Flair. I mean, we talked
after the Rumble on the pod with Nick about the
reaction to Charlotte Flair, and people kind of chew that
up and spit it back out in terms of her
winning the Rumble.

Speaker 4 (05:57):
People are not happy with Charlotte being pushed the way
she is. But now there's a little.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
Personal intrigue on the line where there's been some segments
that maybe have gone awry on television. And I'll be honest,
I've always kind of never understood the hate for Charlotte.
I think she's one of the absolute greatest women's professional
wrestlers of all time. I get that maybe there's some
cringey parts of her personality maybe or attitude. I think

(06:23):
these kind of personal storylines, though, all it does is
just make us more interested. Obviously, maybe it's unprofessional. I mean,
in the late nineties, there was plenty of unprofessionalism going.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
Around, and we all loved it, and we all.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Go back and listen to podcasts about it and watch
clips about it. I kind of think this is a
little bit of a throwback, with this kind of beef
being on the line and we all know about it
and there's some dirt sheet intrigue.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
But Tiffany and Charlotte, I kind of don't know who's.

Speaker 5 (06:49):
Gonna win this match, And I think that's kind of
a theme with this Mania in general. I'm not that
excited for WrestleMania this year compared to years in the past.
I think this is one of the worst, definitely the
worst build of the Trip era, and I think the
worst build in a bit taking out that Covid you know,
the Covid Mania and the Mania that was like half full.
Those are kind of their own thing. I don't think

(07:11):
it's been exciting Mania. I'm not necessarily as jazzed up
as I usually am. But what I will say is
I kind of had no idea who's going to win
any of these matches.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
Yeah, and that's a little bit of a difference from
you know, what we've seen, like you said, in Mania's past,
even last year. You know, obviously we were more excited
about Wrestlinni Excel last year being in Philly and all
that stuff like that.

Speaker 2 (07:29):
But you had a pretty decent idea.

Speaker 6 (07:31):
Of who's going to win a lot of those matches
and how a lot of that stuff is going down.
You're right, like before, you know, maybe when this, you know,
first came down, you know, you thought the Tiffany Stratton
Charlotte match, you may have thought, you know, this might
have been, you know, yet another coronation for Charlotte Flair,
you know, with their old character and things like that.
So I think that's a little bit why people were
kind of lukewarm about, you know, this match heading into it.
But then we get you know, the super personal promo

(07:53):
from from Tiffany Stratton. It went a little bit over
the line that you can tell it was all cringey,
and you can kind of tell that it wasn't.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
It wasn't quite like.

Speaker 6 (08:00):
The rails as we all thought, are we all you know,
assumed they might be when we were watching Lives. So
I think, like you said, I hit that added to it, right,
Like I think when you get a little bit of personal,
the best storylines wrestling are a little personal. You know,
even with the triple threat, with the with the with
the Men to Night that we'll talk about a little
bit later. You know, there's some personal jabs that seth
Rollins throws out at Tampunk and Teampunk throws out at
the other two guys that are hit right on the nose, right,

(08:22):
Like you know, it's all sports entertainment, but you are
true facts and these things hit on the nose. So
when you get a little bit of personal, when you
lean in a little bit of that, I think.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
That that lends itself to a good match.

Speaker 6 (08:32):
So I think we're gonna get a good match tonight
between you know, Tiffany and Charlotte Blake.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
You're right, I have no idea who's gonna win, and
I'm okay with that.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (08:40):
No, I think it's interesting and I think I can
almost pass up on me having the Cody finish the
story that we're all going the whole week praying that
we get that moment and we get to be there
and see it and you.

Speaker 4 (08:52):
Know, we get to be a part of it.

Speaker 5 (08:54):
This time, I don't have that, Like, I don't have
that one thing that I'm like, please, like, can this happen?
And you know, we and they've been you know, foreshadowing
this and this is clearly what it's building to.

Speaker 4 (09:04):
But maybe they'll swerve me and I'll get upset. I
don't have that this time.

Speaker 5 (09:07):
Like this time, it's kind of even Seeampum main eventing
and we can go.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Right there and I'll throw it to Nick. I'm just
happy he's made event.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
I think there's pretty much zero present chance he's winning
that match tonight. I think this is a zero present
chance he just like wins and walks out with Paul Hayman.
I don't know what like the storyline is there, Like,
I think there has to be some sort of flip
coming with Paul and I'll throw it to Nick, What
are you expecting out of this main event tonight?

Speaker 4 (09:31):
In Paul Hayman's involvement?

Speaker 7 (09:33):
You got me?

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Okay?

Speaker 7 (09:36):
For some reason, our guy and my audio signings are different.
But yeah, I mean, like I feel like there's gonna
be probably some big angle to close the show, right,
you kind of need that. I mean, last year we
had the tag match with the Rock and Roman and
Cody and Seth, and I was kind of like, okay,
like it just kind of bled over to the next night,

(09:58):
But now like we need not maybe finality, but we
need like something big, I guess to justify it being
a main event, like a triple threat that no one
really asked for, but again one that seems like Creative
has put all their eggs and that basket to make
that the most important match this weekend. I mean, Cody

(10:22):
and Scene is pretty important, but you follow TV the
last month, you know, like this is the match that people,
or at least Creative wants people just you know, want
to see the most, it seems like. But yeah, I think,
you know, maybe we get Seth dropping some hens here
and there. You know, maybe Hayman goes with him, or

(10:44):
maybe Hayman's not even part of it. Maybe Seth is
part of tomorrow night's main event at some point, you know.
On their resuming round table, Jason Finelli made a good
point that Seth came out in some shield gear last
week dropping best for business hints. Is he going to
be the guy? Is he going to be Rocks champion?

(11:05):
You know, at some point this year Seth could could
he use to shake up a little bit. Uh, He's
been entertaining. It's not like he's a flat character right now,
but you know that's that's a possibility, you know, So
will he win tonight? I think Seth's kind of the
guy that we expect to win, just based off like
Punkin Roman and Hayman. You're just kind of like, oh, Seth,

(11:27):
you know. So that's kind of how I'm looking at it.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
It feels like I I for weeks thought we're getting
Seth and Hayman together, and we're getting that turn, and
Seth's winning this match, and that's gonna be the big
moment of Night one that we kind of remember, maybe
one of the biggest moments of the weekend. It does
feel like they've almost they've almost given that away too much,
like the Seth doing the fake stop to Paul and

(11:52):
saying you owe me a favor now, and and he
said a lot about how he should come with him.
I almost it makes me think it's knocking to happen
now in terms of how much they've hinted at it.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
I almost thought if they were going to do it, it.

Speaker 5 (12:05):
Was gonna be one of those things where Seth was
almost going to feel like a third wheel in the
match and not even interact with Paul going in. Really,
but I guess Roy, am I working myself into a shoot?

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Brother?

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Yeah? I think I think you kind of are.

Speaker 6 (12:18):
But this is very interesting because you're right, like we
usually when they lean too far into it, unless you
know it's the most obvious thing, like last year with
Cody finishing the story, when they lean too far into it,
you're you're probably like, all right, well, maybe I am
working myself into a shoot, But I keep I kind
of waffle all over the place with this match because
you're right, like, I don't think Punk wins, right, but
I don't think Hayman goes with Seth because I think

(12:40):
Hayman's I mean, Seth Seth, Sethhan has his own character,
you know.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
I don't think he needs a Hayment.

Speaker 6 (12:45):
I think I think Hayman kind of, you know, as
a guy who's he's a heater for you know, the
other guys, like he's a heater for Punk, was a
heater for Punk, is a heater for for Rains. I
don't think he needs like Seth needs that. So I think,
you know, and I've called this match the battle for
Paul Hayman's love, but I think at the end of
this I think Paul Hayman's kind of out in the
cold because I don't think any of these three guys,
I think the storylines for these guys don't include Paul

(13:07):
Hamon in the future, so he's obviously going to be
involved in this match at some point. But I think
at the end, you know, whoever stands victorious probably doesn't
walk out with.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Him and at the end of the night. But again
that's just my opinion.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
Interesting, I haven't heard that. I don't think i've heard
that take anywhere. I like that. That's that's interesting.

Speaker 5 (13:23):
It's it's really a shame and I know everybody had
their own opinions on brock Lesler when he was around.
It's a shame that obviously he's maybe involved in some
bad allegations out there and maybe never going to be
seen in w W again.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
Because if he was around, or.

Speaker 2 (13:36):
For he came out, if he came out.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
Or night or something, be like, I'm back with my
guy to go against you guys Like that's I don't
think that.

Speaker 7 (13:45):
Don't be if we're eventually going to get Roman and Jacob,
Fattu could if Roman and just kind of push him
in away, just Hayman go back to Fatsu and be like,
you're my travel chief. I still I said before, like that,
Where's what's happened with the blood Line? You know, Like
I feel like kind of got away from that this
WrestleMania season. I want that back. That was something that

(14:07):
I've really enjoyed following, you know, through the years and
even earlier this year. Yeah, blood Line two point zero
hasn't really hit, but with Jacob other than Solo, I
think it can. So I'm interested to see where that goes.

Speaker 5 (14:21):
Yeah, and I mentioned earlier Nick that I don't know
where any of these matches are going like I like
Roman and Seth, I don't know who's winning, Tippy and Charlotte,
I don't know who's winning.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
If you want to go to.

Speaker 5 (14:31):
Tomorrow Eo Biancarria, we'll get into that. I have an
opinion on that, but I think that's up in the
air in terms of who's winning. Cody and Sina, I
think you could convince me either way. Like who's gonna
win that match?

Speaker 4 (14:42):
I really don't know.

Speaker 5 (14:43):
But the match I care the most about the result
in is the match I'm angriest about as you guys.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
Jay Uso cannot be a world champion.

Speaker 5 (14:55):
The guy has four moves, as he said last night,
four or five, six moves whatever he said the on
the Hall of Fame thing when he was inebriated. But
I this build has been an embarrassment, and I think
they've tried to lean into it with some of the
boxes that have happened, and they've tried to make it
part of the storyline. I feel bad for Gunther. This

(15:15):
should be Gunther's like arrival on the main event scene
at WrestleMania with a punk or Roman, a sess a
scena something. You should have given him a legit main
event or you can seek his sink his teeth into
even like Sammy again, if you wanted to do run
back last year and kind of the revenge like. I
think there's so many better routes they could have went

(15:36):
that would have cemented Gunther more. But you cannot kill
the aura that Goonther does have of being this unbeatable champion.
And I'm usually the guy that's against the long title
reigns and I'm more of the Attitude era guy where
I mean stone Cold in the Rock never had title

(15:56):
reigns for longer than what four to six months and
didn't make them less important. I generally do think that,
but when you have this heel monster like Goonther, I
do think you kind of need that invincibility, like that
that ara that that you can't beat this guy. And
I think a guy like Jay beating him after the
way he's been booked, I think it would really really

(16:18):
kill Goonther. So I'm hoping we get a little like
Brox scene of SummerSlam twenty fourteen at a little beat down.

Speaker 4 (16:24):
I don't think that's happening, But where what happens?

Speaker 5 (16:27):
Do you guys think Jay wins the belt to I
guess it's today you have to open the show or
do you think goother retains so and does the open
I'll throw it to Roy first.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Does the open?

Speaker 5 (16:37):
Does it opening the match or opening the show kind
of change your opinion either way?

Speaker 4 (16:42):
No, I don't.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
I don't think it.

Speaker 6 (16:43):
Well, actually, you know what it probably does because you know,
when you're probably want to open the show with a
bang or something to kind of get the crowd going.
So given that it's going to open the show, and
we'll talk about the whole main event royal rumble thing,
I'm sure in a second, but being the fact that
it's going to open the show, I think you probably
want to get the crowd going and jumping and all
that eating and all that other stuff.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
So I think it's I think all the cards point
to a Jay win. You know, Jay winning the title
off of Uther and ending the Rain.

Speaker 6 (17:09):
I know you don't want to see it, but again,
the ww's and business and making money, right, like the
Triple A said on that Andrew Schultz podcast, like, you know,
you can listen to the fans, you know, say, you know,
Cody's not over or Jay's not over, but you look
at the balance sheet, you look at the profit and
law statements. You look at all they T shirts and
the ratings and things like that, Like people love to yat.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
So I think we're gonna see a lot of eating.

Speaker 6 (17:30):
About half an hour into the show tonight, I think
Jay's gonna go home with that title.

Speaker 4 (17:34):
I'll throw it to you, Nick.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
But my problem with that and everything Triple Ah has
been saying is like that what he's saying infers that
like Cempunk, John Cena, Seth Rollins.

Speaker 4 (17:43):
Roman reigns aren't over.

Speaker 5 (17:45):
Like it's I'm not saying Jay Uso should never, you know,
get an opportunity to wrestle at WrestleMania, like like he's
a mid.

Speaker 4 (17:53):
Carter to me, Like he's just not these tippy top
mad invendors.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
And in an era where I mean we had eras,
think when Alberto del Rio was like the long term champion, Like.

Speaker 4 (18:03):
We've had eras where we're starving.

Speaker 5 (18:06):
Starving for main eventors, and we finally have an era
where we've got Punk, Roman, seen a Seth, guother whoever
you want to throw in the conversation, and it just
feels like such a disservice to take a spot away
from goosther really having a true mainavance spot.

Speaker 4 (18:20):
But I think you might be right.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
It does seem like they're building to that Nick are
you gonna Are you gonna help me out here?

Speaker 7 (18:27):
Probably not. I think if you have Jay Louse, it
also kills Jay so because he already lose the gun.
Lost the gun there twice, once for the Icy title
and then Saturday Night's main events. So and I do
think the WrestleMania plans were different in the fall. I
saw this online kind of treated the memory. Jure McIntyre

(18:48):
seemed to be on a collision course of Roman and
WrestleMania because he was like the blood line blood line Hunter,
and then series kind of changed everything Sam Punk concerning
himself and then kind of going that route. So something
I feel like something definitely changed with the plan of WrestleMania.
And I feel like when we got to the Royal
Rubble Triple, as just kind of like, what can we

(19:09):
do to make sure we don't have Punk, Roman, Seth Sena,
and well scene is in the title match, but they
still had elimination chamber. One of these guys are definitely
not in the main event, So how can we end
the Rubble on a high note. They thought Jay winning
would obviously probably be more popular than it was. But yeah,

(19:30):
I mean, like I would have liked to see Scena Gunther.
Everyone thinks Sena is going to win their seventeenth that
was seemingly the plan. I know, you know, third sheets
or whatever can be wrong, but and then you just
have Guther brock Lesner Sina from Summer Slant like you
brought it up SummerSlam twenty fourteen, Like everyone thinks Sena
is gonna win at WrestleMania, and then Guthner just steam

(19:52):
rolls them, and then you kind of have that feud
a little bit for the title. I know it's not
the same as Cody holding the title. That's the WWE title, right,
but I don't think it matters at this point. I
would like to see that. I thought that was the
best avenue towards WrestleMania that just they didn't take.

Speaker 5 (20:15):
Yeah, they don't matter until it counts of the world
title obviously. What I will say about this gunthar J thing,
and I think again, with this secondary world title belt,
I just think you have to do so much to
legitimize it to make it feel as important as that
could be and I don't think Jay being in this
match makes.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
It feel that way.

Speaker 5 (20:33):
But I want to shift gears. I don't want to
spend the whole time complaining about Juso. I've done plenty
of that.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
Sunday Sunday I want to shift over to.

Speaker 5 (20:42):
Obviously, we have the two big matches that I want
to get to, and I think the Fatal four.

Speaker 4 (20:45):
Way is going to be awesome.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
But there's two matches on Sunday's card that have four
pretty big stars in it relative to WWB, and I'm
not interested in neither of the matches. AJ Logan and
Damian Drew. I don't think that they've done much to
get you very excited in either of these, you know
with I mean, Cross has done more to promote this

(21:08):
AJ Logan match than anybody else.

Speaker 4 (21:10):
It's pretty crazy. I was never a Cross guy.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
He's kind of turning me into one with some of
the social media promos and stuff like that.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
But which match Am I wrong about? Which match?

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Should I be excited about? AJ Logan or Damian Drew?
What do you think, nick?

Speaker 7 (21:24):
I know Drew and Damien's a street fight, but I
think Logan and AJ has has the opportunity to outclass
a lot of those matches on Sunday. I mean, just
AJ styles and Logan. Paul is really good in the ring,
I do think you know, he will beat AJ but
carry across if he's involved. That doesn't really take away
from it for me. But I like the match that

(21:47):
has the potential to be better, I think is AJ Logan,
So I would look forward to that a little more.
I know, the street fight kind of lends itself to
some crazy spots possibilities, but you know, Drew and Damien, yeah,
really doesn't do much for me either.

Speaker 6 (22:02):
And Roy, Yeah, I gotta agree, Dream and Damien, Like,
I don't know if we're gonna even get a spot
better than that, you know, the slam on the car,
the car windshield spot, you know this match, and that
was that was a pretty good spot.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
Those guys.

Speaker 6 (22:14):
Yeah, like those guys, you know a couple of Claymores
or whatever like that, and like this is cute or whatever,
but like like Logan's Logan's gonna do at least one
or two crazy things in this match, right, Like we
all know, like that's what Logan does in his matches,
So he's going to give you a couple of crazy
spots that that you don't you don't expect. So I
think match quality wise, yeah, I think a J Logan
is the best one.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
But you're right, like, when both of these.

Speaker 6 (22:36):
Matches are on, I'm probably gonna be flipping through the
channel to see what else is going on.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
I can't lie. This is like a long time take
of mine and people hate it. And there was an
era where AJ was like truly maybe one of the
best wrestlers in the world. I have never I think
there's been one feud in AJ Style's career in WWB
that I've been like emotionally invested in, and it was
Joe because I'm a diehard smo at Joe guy and
I wanted some Joe to win that feud and AJ

(23:02):
kept winning. But I've just never been invested in AJ
as a character, like is a great worker. I'm kind
of done with it, I'll be honest, Like I feel
the same way about AJ now that I kind of
felt at the end of like the edge wwe run
where I'm just like go to aw and kind of
like like do something new. You have these new people
to work with. I don't think it's one great for
cope but me, I think that's probably where I'm at

(23:26):
with AJ at this point. I've heard some rumors that
that's kind of on the horizon potentially for AJ with AW.
But let's talk about the actually real quick before the
two big matches. The fatal four way, I think it's
going to steal the maybe the weekend with the bron
breaker Penta, Finn and Dominic Mysterio.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
I think Dominic Mysterio.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
If if we're talking about guys in the mid card,
who I think should get a push to the main event.
I'm a dom guy like I think that guy has
all the tools. I think he's a better worker than
he's given credit for.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Too.

Speaker 5 (23:54):
I love don I think I would love to see
him have a moment here Penta. You want to make
him important and kind of put him put a rocket
on his back. Obviously his brother in the company now too,
this is a big spot. You can kind of give
him that thing. I don't think Finn wins. I don't
think there's any real argument for Finn to win, but
it should probably go to Broun, who I think is
the future number one face of the company. What do

(24:18):
you guys think I'll go to ruly first, about that
fatal four way and about kind of Braun in general.

Speaker 6 (24:24):
So my well, one of my one of the tenets
of my ultimate fantasy booking if I was booking out
the next year, is for Bron to eventually end up
with Hayman as the guy in his corner. So I
think this is the time that you get the belt
off Bron, okay, so you can put him in the
main event scene.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
So if I had to get like.

Speaker 6 (24:40):
The more, I was like I was like last year, yeah, exactly,
So I was I was a finn Baalader guy heading
into the last couple of weeks. But I've heard a
lot of that Dominic mysterious argument as far as you know,
giving him the belt, because again, he's just natural magnetic
heat right whenever he comes out. So I think putting
that belt on him is basically it's a you know,
I don't want to lifetime achievement of word.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
He's kind of young, but.

Speaker 6 (25:02):
Basically it's like it's a you know, congratulations for all
the work that you've done over the past few years.
Think of Dominic masterio back when you know, I forget
what trussel Mania was when he teamed up with his dad,
you know, the tag team of his dad and from that,
from that Dominic Masterio to now, it's been unbelievable, right,
like his essnsion has been unbelievable. So put the IC
belt on him, let him get all that heat, take

(25:22):
Brun out of that picture, put him in the main event.
I think that's the way I would. I would probably
book this tomorrow night, Nick.

Speaker 7 (25:29):
Yeah, I agree Bron losing it. I think he's man
Evan ready. I mean, I think there's no doubt, like
he's one of the very few that you can see
man eventing a pay per view later this year or
even SummerSlam constantly. So you I think he's ready. So
you have a good storyline with Finn and Dom and Penza.
I would go, uh, Pensa winning and then you have

(25:53):
Dom beat him down the road a little bit, maybe
cheating to win. I think that could work for Dom
more heat or whatever. He doesn't really need it though,
so I could you know, absolutely see him winning it
at WrestleMania penning thin and kind of go on that route.
But I could also buy Penza winning given you know
that nice moment and I'm don beating him like next

(26:16):
month or the after just kind of like, oh, no,
go that route. But yeah, I think the move should
be it for Bron to lose and move up.

Speaker 5 (26:25):
I would love for Bron Drew to get a big,
like main event match at some point, As Biggie would say,
that's two meaty men slaping meat right right. I would
love to see that one. But you can make an
argument maybe we should have got that on this card.
But I do think that Fatal four Way is gonna
be awesome. One complain about Triple H, who I think

(26:46):
is generally an awesome booker, and I think all you
need to do to figure that out is go watch
Tony Kahan. But I think that there's an argument that
Dominic Mysterio has been kind of left behind for two
long like I think that he is really not I
remember him losing the Ray at Mania.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
A couple of years ago.

Speaker 5 (27:05):
I thought that was absurd, Like I don't know what
Rey gained from beating his son at me, Like there
was no argument, in my opinion for Dominic to lose
that match. I feel like there's been a bunch of
those where it's been like this is a spot where
for Dominic to kind of ascend, and I don't.

Speaker 4 (27:19):
My take on it is I don't. I think Triple
H looks.

Speaker 5 (27:21):
At him as like a comedy guy and not like
a true champion. I'm really hoping I'm proven wrong. I
would love to see Dom have a big moment this weekend.
But let's get to the two biggest matches and I'll
save Cody Cena for last, and I'll talk about the
match I'm actually most excited for for Sunday, and beyond
the Punk match, I think this is the match I'm
most excited for in the weekend.

Speaker 4 (27:43):
I guess it's the two Triple threats, but Eo, Bianca
and Rhea. I think he's going to tear the house down.

Speaker 5 (27:48):
All three are fantastic, They've all had great matches against
each other in different you know forms. But I think
everybody seems to think EO's winning this winning this match,
and I feel like she's been given the Stan Tall
spots the last couple of weeks on TV in these
kind of FEUs, I don't think people realize how much
Triple H loves Ria Ripley, Like I think Triple Ah

(28:10):
is building this entire ship out of Ria Ripley, So
I think RIEA is going to win this match, and honestly,
I think she's the biggest star in the women's division.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
I think she.

Speaker 4 (28:19):
Probably should win the match.

Speaker 5 (28:20):
And I think if you're going to take the belt
off of her a couple of weeks ago and still
have her in the match, I think it's because you
kind of want her to have a big moment and
win the belt back.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
What do you guys think I'll go to Roy first.

Speaker 6 (28:31):
Yeah, I think yeah, like you said, like after Eel's
got those two like you said that the stand tall spots,
I think that probably leans into the fact that she
won't win. But I think this is I think Bianca
is going to kind of pull this one out. I
think we're I think we're eventually going to go to
a Bianca you know showdown, probably at SummerSlam. I think
that's that's where we're going to kind of go one
on one, one v one versus two of them. So

(28:51):
I think it's probably going to be be a Bianco win.
But if you tell me Ria wins and then you
still get that match at SummerSlam, that's fine, neck.

Speaker 7 (29:00):
Yeah. I the booking of these women leading up to
it is good confusion, you know, it's like you're making
Ria sound whiny, and now people are brewing Bianca, do
they lean into that. They seem to pivot sometimes to okay,
like Charlotte, you know, like people knewed her right away

(29:21):
and then she went right into the heel persona. I
could definitely see a scenario where Bianca wins and we
eventually find out she knew Naomi attack Jade the whole time,
and then we eventually get Jade versus Pianka. But I
think Ria versus Pianka is that next match that should happen.
Probably some say I could even Summer Sam. It's two

(29:44):
nights right this year, so it can main event, you know,
one of those nights, And that's what I thought was
gonna happen this year. But I think because of the
the way the WrestleMania card changed, that kind of went
out the window a little bit. So they're like, well,
we'll save Ria Bianca down the road. Summersams seems to
be the logical choice to have that, But yeah, I

(30:06):
think it was. Also Eo has been great as well.
Like you talked about Doma Stereio being like an m VP,
I think EO's being an unsung hero as well, m
VP type. So I think this is kind of a
reward for her. I don't think it's you know, put
her in a triple threat situation also protects her if
she were to lose the belt as well. So, but
I think you know you can't. Ria is like that

(30:28):
top babyface female right now on the roster. You shouldn't
play around with the crowd reactions like that making her
see piney and so uh. I think making Bianca win
the title and then eventually turning heel is a way
to kind of make sure everyone knows Ria is that
top babyface and I feel like maybe that's the way
they should go.

Speaker 4 (30:49):
I kind of think Bianca's is full blown heel at
this point.

Speaker 5 (30:52):
Like line, yeah, I think they're just booking her as
a he Like that one segment it was like a
I don't even know, like a vignette that they shot
last week.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
It was the most heelish vignette that she like.

Speaker 5 (31:03):
I think, did you guys see the clip of Chatta
Jo Cinco and and Shannon Sharp and Joe Johnson talking
about Bianca bell Air No?

Speaker 7 (31:12):
I did not.

Speaker 5 (31:13):
It was very funny, like Joe Johnson like finding out
who Bianca bell Air was and like like losing his.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
Mind over and all three of them like being.

Speaker 2 (31:23):
Like, oh is she bad?

Speaker 4 (31:24):
Like it was incredible.

Speaker 5 (31:26):
I think we're gonna kind of lean into her being
a little bit more of like a sexual character like
Ria and these other guys, and she's gonna heal it
up and wear some crazy outfits as opposed to the
baby face who is like wearing her outfits that she
makes and looks like a superhero kind of. I think
they're gonna full blown and what I want, very coach.

(31:50):
I don't know if gambler friends.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
I'll say with Justin Kate, I'll pre view it real quick,
but go.

Speaker 4 (32:00):
Look it up.

Speaker 5 (32:01):
Everybody who everybody who hasn't seen it, go check it
out all there.

Speaker 4 (32:04):
It's very very funny.

Speaker 5 (32:06):
But Bianca, I think is what I would want and
what I've.

Speaker 4 (32:10):
Been clamoring for for years.

Speaker 5 (32:13):
Montees Ford is a main eventor he's got charisma.

Speaker 4 (32:18):
He's an incredible worker.

Speaker 5 (32:20):
Like I've always the street profits in general have been
far too long kind of kept under and montes should
have broke out from that and been a singles a
long time ago. I remember, years ago in Philly I
saw him Wressell Roman on a SmackDown and it was
awesome and he the crowd was so behind him as
the babyface in that match. It's a and then Demon Finn,

(32:41):
I think came out and interrupted it. But Montes and
Bianca as like a power duo, as a heel couple,
I think that is money, absolute money. So I'm hoping
that's where they go. They kind of like were they're
keeping them together at the all and I go, it's
different at the Hall of Fame.

Speaker 4 (32:58):
It's not k fabe and everything like that.

Speaker 5 (33:00):
But they were kind of interviewing them as like a
duo everywhere, and I think they should go all in
on them as like a power He'll do it if
that means Bianca wins the belt.

Speaker 4 (33:08):
I'm all in on that.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
To me.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
I like Io. He is a great worker. Bianca and
Rhea are mega stars, like.

Speaker 5 (33:14):
These are, like I think people you can build commercials around,
like outside of the wrestling bubble, and like these are
people like to put as the faces of your company
moving forward.

Speaker 2 (33:25):
He was great.

Speaker 4 (33:26):
I don't think he was that and I think this
probably should have just been Bianca Rhea. But let's get to.

Speaker 5 (33:31):
The last match, and I think it's been obviously very
interesting the route we took to get here, but John
Cena and Cody Rhodes main eventing the second out of
WrestleMania here obviously Cody Roads turning heel out elimination Chamber
with The Rock and Travis Scott and then just choosing
not to mention that for a month and a half.

(33:52):
That was John Cena. But yeah, I think this build
has been horrible. I think Sena has really disappointed me
with his ability on the microphone at this point or
his ability to be creative at this point. It's so
paint by numbers. It's it's the most generic possible heel
turn that John Cena could have had, and it should

(34:12):
have been the most groundbreaking heel turn.

Speaker 4 (34:13):
And like the history of the wrestling business.

Speaker 5 (34:16):
Not to give Hull cobing credit because I'm certainly not
in the business of doing that, but go watch kind
of how he turned heel with the nWo and compare
it to John Cena, because that was the big thing.
We were comparing it to Fasher the Beach ninety six,
to the elimination Chamber. It's not comparable anymore. But what
I will say is SmackDown last night. I was shocked
to see Cody get booed the way that he did

(34:37):
in that promo, and what and why Cody Rhodes is
Cody Rhodes, and why he's the face of the company,
and why he is the baby face of all baby
faces that John Cena was never is because he turned
those booze into full blown cheers and singing of his
song in ninety seconds.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
I mean, I've never seen anything like that in a promo.

Speaker 5 (34:59):
Like obviously the wrestling at thirteen Stone Cold and Brett
Hart double turn. We've seen double turns. We've seen a
crowd turn on a guy, and it's usually a match.
I don't know if I've ever seen like a ninety
second promo where the crowd was chewing up Cody and
spitting him out.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
And I think the.

Speaker 5 (35:14):
Entire roster, most of the roster would have gotten so
frazzled by that and totally lost their Shanna thought we
saw it, Charlotte. I mean, I was embarrassing the way
she reacted to the crowd, but Cody just got right
back on track and turned them his way. I think
it's one of the most impressive things I've ever seen
with a man in a microphone in his hand. I

(35:34):
was thinking Sina was going to win before last night,
and now I'm like, keep the belt on Cody.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
This guy's unbelievable. What do you guys think of Nick?

Speaker 7 (35:41):
First, I don't even see what you can do with Sina,
And if he does win, me, he said he's gonna
take the title away, Like, we don't need what's happening
with John Moxley in aw not showing the championship belt
for months now. We don't need a storyline like that.
I don't think it benefits WW at all to have

(36:01):
a storyline like that. But Cody's dropped Sena twice as well,
so it was like brother like wrestling booking, right, we
just assume that Scena is gonna stand on top. That's
what makes like the Seth Rollins thing make more sense
to me. Where he prevents Sena from winning, Cody keeps

(36:22):
the title, but Seth wants to be the one to
beat Cody, and I feel like they can do that
if they do turn Seth and Seth becomes Rock's corporate guy,
you know, later this year. So that's kind of what
I would creatively think is the best outcome of this
because you can't run it back right, like backlash should

(36:44):
not be seen at Cody Again, this build has been
really bad. Cody came out the first time they were
face to face after Elimination Chamber, and Cody doesn't even
like he's so he's done these promos that he's like,
I hate John Cena and I'm gonna kill him. And
then they're face to face and he doesn't do anything.
He's just like and then he turns his back to

(37:05):
him and walks away, not even saying anything like it's
taken everything in me to not drop you right here.
Anything like that would have made logical wrestling booking sense,
and it made Cody look bad and then seen it
has just been like the same thing. And yeah, this
that's why I think this wasn't like the original plan.
And they're trying to think, well, how can we make

(37:27):
people care? Turn Johnson to heel. That's step one. They
never got to step two.

Speaker 6 (37:34):
Yeah, I don't know how you get to step two
on on Sunday night, Like, I just don't see it
with the Scena thing.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
I don't think this ends here with his because he's
gonna win, right, But I.

Speaker 6 (37:44):
Don't think it's gonna I don't think there's a logical
way you can have him win on Sunday unless we
get some uber Shenanigans from Travis Stott and a lot
or you know, or whatever. So I think Cody probably went.

Speaker 2 (37:56):
I was. I agree with you, Mark.

Speaker 6 (37:57):
I think before before last night, he would have said
Cassin would have won and they would figured it out.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
But I think Cody stands tall.

Speaker 6 (38:03):
I mean, I think Cody kind of he's that guy,
you know, he's the you know again, the perfect white meat,
kissing babies, visit hospitals kind of babyface.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
I think they keep a roll with him.

Speaker 6 (38:12):
I think probably did a little bit of a paste
of what we got last year with some of the
Cody Vengers coming out and helping out because obviously.

Speaker 2 (38:18):
There's gonna be some Shenanigans on the scene in side.
So yeah, a little little bit a little last yet.
But I think my.

Speaker 6 (38:27):
Thought again, I saw that on the backlash poster. I
don't know if you guys saw Randy Orton was on
the backlash poster backlashes in Saint Louis.

Speaker 2 (38:35):
Maybe that's why he's on the poster. But there was
always these hints.

Speaker 6 (38:38):
About Randy being the next guy in line challenging Cody
for that title, So if he comes out makes the
save on Sunday, maybe we get Cody and Cody and
Randy at Backlash.

Speaker 5 (38:47):
I think Randy had a big thing in a promo
to him where he's after the scene of thing and
he said, if I come and challenge you for the belt,
I'm not going to stab you in the back.

Speaker 4 (38:54):
I'll do it like right into your pa or something
like that.

Speaker 5 (38:57):
Maybe he like shows up to help him and stand
in front of him and then just rkaosim or something
like that. I do think we get Cody Randy at Backlash.
When I when I saw that that poster, that was
my first thought is that that has to be where
we're going. I saw a lot of like, oh, Randy Cina,
and I'm like, I don't.

Speaker 2 (39:15):
Hard Maybe we saw enough.

Speaker 7 (39:17):
I'm not sure five that's a match that was what
it could have been ten.

Speaker 5 (39:21):
Years ago, But yeah, I had enough of Randy Cina
at Rumbled twenty fourteen. I think it was where they
did like the the I think that was when they
united the Belts again with those two. But yeah, I
am really hopeful now I didn't really care that much
you won this match. I am kind of the mindset
like we might need to get this belt off Cody

(39:43):
soon before people maybe turn or get stale with him,
and maybe last night you look at that and don't
look at the way he turned it.

Speaker 4 (39:50):
You look at the fact that it even happened, and
you go.

Speaker 5 (39:52):
Maybe now is the time where we mess with that
and try to get him back to as popular as
he was.

Speaker 4 (39:58):
I don't know that that.

Speaker 5 (39:58):
I think it's probably just the smartiest of smart fans
in Vegas for one weekend and probably shouldn't determine your
entire booking around the character. But I don't know it's
gonna be really really interesting. I again not that excited
in terms of the bill to this mania, but I
don't know who's winning any of these matches, so I'm
really interested to find it out. So Roy, Nick, thanks

(40:21):
so much for coming on guys. You can follow Roy
over at the.

Speaker 4 (40:24):
Bs line on Twitter.

Speaker 5 (40:25):
You can follow Nick over at Underscore pra Cone and
by the way, Nick Phillies won seven to last night
they did.

Speaker 4 (40:31):
Can we can we stop with the You know Colle
is going to be a.

Speaker 5 (40:35):
Met and I came across that tweet. I'm like, wait,
I'm like, I'm getting out of the Phillies parking lot.

Speaker 4 (40:42):
Last night I went to the game, Like, can this
guy be happy? That was such a fun one last night.

Speaker 7 (40:47):
Come on, Nick, I'm a little I'm sad that. You know,
apparently they had extension talks and nothing went anywhere. But
I know that's.

Speaker 4 (40:56):
Worries about it.

Speaker 7 (40:57):
We'll see.

Speaker 5 (40:57):
Dombrowski called kylesh Werber the best clubhouse guy he's ever seen.

Speaker 4 (41:03):
Baseball.

Speaker 7 (41:04):
I don't think you could put a price on that, right.

Speaker 4 (41:06):
I think he's cole.

Speaker 5 (41:08):
I don't think there's any way he lets Schwerber walk
out that roy any thoughts on that.

Speaker 2 (41:13):
But that's a that's a really bulld statement. I mean,
Desk has been in the game for a long time.

Speaker 6 (41:16):
I mean, like College Warper, he's a he's a better
vibes guy than Gara Stubbs.

Speaker 2 (41:20):
Is that is that what he's saying?

Speaker 5 (41:21):
Well, Schwarber's the baseball James Harden. He's never missed the playoffs, right,
I think.

Speaker 4 (41:26):
That status right? I thought I heard that before he.

Speaker 5 (41:28):
Came to the Phillies, and we haven't missed since he's
been here. And that I heard that with Harden Now
he's sixteen years straight in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (41:34):
Ye.

Speaker 5 (41:35):
Anyway, thanks so much for coming on. I just had
to yell at Nick real fast before I let you
guys go.

Speaker 7 (41:41):
Bill, you'll find the Swarber will be a brave tweet soon.

Speaker 5 (41:46):
That doesn't offend me as much as the mess one does.
But I don't like any I don't like either of them,
but Roy and Neck. Thanks to much for coming on that.
Those are the guys to.

Speaker 4 (41:54):
Follow forci on. Check check out Nick's pod over at
the Straight Shooters.

Speaker 5 (41:59):
Me and really go on there often to kind of
recap shows and previews shows, and we have roundtables for
the Gambler here.

Speaker 4 (42:06):
These are my two guys when I when I to

Speaker 4 (42:11):
