This week on The Traveling Hypnotist Podcast, top NYC clinical hypnotist and coach Nicole Hernandez explores the expansive, story-driven energy of Gate 56 in Human Design, known as The Gate of Stimulation, and how it invites you to make meaning out of your lived experiences.

Gate 56 is about more than just sharing your story; it’s about how your words land, uplift, and awaken others (and yourself) when you’re fully in your truth.

In this episode, Nicole explores the deeper purpose of storytelling and how this week’s energy can help you break free from old narratives, emotional clutter, or that creative funk you’ve been quietly carrying.

Inside, you’ll explore:

  • What Gate 56 reveals about your voice, your visibility, and your ability to captivate
  • The hidden traps of overstimulation, escapism, and performative storytelling
  • How to work with the wanderer archetype without getting lost
  • A frequency-shifting reflection that might change how you see your past

Whether Gate 56 is part of your design or simply activating your energy this week, this episode is here to help you access the magnetic medicine within your message.

human design, and yes, I alwaysleave you some creative prompts

(00:49):

I'm going to be headed to thelodge at Woodlock at the
beginning of August, andhopefully you'll find the
details somewhere here. I willbe dropping them below, just so

(01:10):
you have the links. But I'mready to travel. I don't know
about you, I'm ready to getaway, and I cannot wait to share
this experience where I'll beteaching you some human design
master classes, you have achance to be out in nature, to
experience spa cuisine, todo stand up, paddle board, to do
hikes, nature, yoga, all thethings. And I think the spa is

(01:30):
like 40,000 square feet. It'sgoing to be an amazing weekend.
So if you're looking for a wayto combine mindfulness with your
travels, especially before wehead into the fall and back to
that work mode. Then I wouldreally encourage you to look
into this again. I'll just linkit here at the bottom so that
you have it. And just a quickreminder the wait list for high

(01:52):
frequency success VIP coaching,my 12 week intensive is now
open. So just to give you alittle heads up, I am going to
start conducting some earlycalls in August, and then we're
going to move into it, because Ireally want you to utilize this
fall to make some big lifechanges, whether that is you're

(02:14):
moving into your own business,or you just really want to up
level Your mindset around moneyand what is available to you, or
you're ready to dig into some ofyour relationship shadows, and
you want someone to help youmove through that and make those
big changes. Okay, the frequency theme, the gate of
stimulation, the sun is now moving through

(02:38):
gate 56 the gate of stimulationin human design, also known as
the wonderer in the I Ching.
It's the second week we'reactually waltzing with the
throat center in this collectiveconsciousness, the energetic
center of communication, ourvisibility, our impact of
manifestation, of all the thingsthat come from speaking, writing

(03:01):
and sharing. So this week, it'sabout storytelling from lived
experience. You're being invitedto speak up, not just for
attention, but for the evolutionof yourself and others. So last
week, gate 62 if you remember, asked us to stay logical and
precise and rooted in objectivetruth, right? It says, give me

(03:24):
the facts and let me structurethis and put it together and
share it with you. But thisweek, gate 56 adds rich, juicy
color, metaphor and emotionalresonance into this cosmic
mashup. Because the thing isthat people don't transform from
spreadsheets that make theireyes glaze over, right? How many
times have you sat in aboardroom and you've had to

(03:46):
watch this long PowerPoint withall the facts and figures when
that person finally shares areal story, that's where we get
it, and that's what we'relearning here, is that people
transform from real stories thatmake them say, oh shit, that's
me, right. They feel a piece ofthat story in themselves. And
they go, I can relate to that.
And how does this go? And whatdo I need to learn from this?

(04:08):
They lean in. Now, gate 56 asksyou, what story are you telling
yourself, and is it leading youcloser to your power or further
away from it? Because, as youknow, stories heal, but they can
also keep us trapped in a prisonof our past. And we'll be
looking a little further intothat. Now, if gate 56 is defined

(04:28):
in your chart, so you're lookingat your human design body graph,
and you see the 56 activated. Ifyou have no idea what I'm
talking about, you don't haveaccess to your human design
chart. I'm going to leave thelink to my own website so you
can grab yours there. Now, inyour highest frequency, you're
all about the lived experience, the travel, the adventures and

(04:49):
the hard earned wisdom that yougained from those experiences.
You have the potential to be anenthralling Yes, I like.
That word, enthrallingstoryteller with the power to
reframe pain and offer realperspective and insight. When
you speak or write from a placeof heart led service, you become

(05:14):
a mirror that helps people seenew possibilities for
themselves. Now I know if you'rea writer, you're probably
listening to this and thinking,This is amazing. I'm writing my
memoir, and this is what it'smeant to do. So as you write
that memoir, I want you toreally stay connected to this
idea of being of service, of howyour story is going to connect.

(05:36):
So if you have this gate 56 youwere born to teach uplift, spark
curiosity. But here's the deal, showing up means bringing a
little vulnerability, a littlehumor, and leaving that
polished, performative,lackluster BS behind, because
that stuff that I'm better thanyou, or this has to be perfect,

(05:59):
or I'm going to be unaffected.
That kind of energy is likeemotional Teflon, right? It just
creates some distance. And Iwant you to be in a place as
you're speaking, as you'resharing in the vibe of I know
where you are because I've livedit and I've gone through it, and
I'm going to just share how youcan do this better, like how to

(06:19):
make it easier for you.
So what this transit brings tothe party, whether you RSVPed or
not. So this energy is aboutcollecting memories, experiences
and meaning and sharing them ina way that enriches the
collective. Gate 56 connects thethroat center to the Ajna

(06:42):
center, and that is an awarenesscenter that's related to
mechanical consciousness. Sothink about our beliefs, our
thoughts. So when you thinkabout this energy, I'd like you
to imagine your favorite dinnerparty guest who sits down and
announces, you'll never believewhat happened to me last week,
and in that telling as you'relistening and as you're going

(07:03):
through all the details, all thesensations and hearing it, it
offers a window into a new wayof viewing the world.
When I reflect on this gate, Ithink about a story I used to
tell myself for decades. Yousee, my mom was diagnosed with
bipolar disorder when I was achild, and I often found myself

(07:23):
playing her caretaker, especially after my parents got
a divorce, and no one ever toldme that I had to do that. I just
kind of decided that I needed tobe the one that kept everything
from collapsing. I needed to bethe strong one. I needed to be
the responsible one. I needed tobe the good kid, and maybe you
have a story like that too. Italk to people so often who have

(07:46):
had maybe a parent that wasstruggling with their mental
health, whether they werediagnosed or not, and that story
of being the good kid or the onethat kept it all together or the
caretaker, that story became myidentity, but it also came at a
cost. It cost my childhood. Ididn't feel like I belonged in
most circles. I had to keep thefact that my mother was going

(08:09):
through this as a secret, because she didn't want the
neighbors to think she wascrazy. She didn't want that to
get out into our town. And soyou can imagine, I kept quiet
about my personal life, and whenI got to college, which felt
like freedom to me, I found myescape, and that was alcohol.

(08:31):
And honestly, it was magic. Atfirst, I just went down these
glasses, and then I would justfinally let loose. I could
finally laugh and play and saythe thoughts that were running
through my head and in thosemoments, I remember just feeling
like I could let go of thispressure to have it all
together, but that liquidescapism started to started

(08:54):
leading to blackouts and riskybehavior, like I fell asleep on
the subway and woke up and itwas 6am in the morning, and I
was in Coney Island. All of thatcould have ended very badly for
me, and I'm not going to go intoit all now, because I think
that's a story for another day.
But I want you to know thisalcohol wasn't the answer, and
the use of alcohol is an exampleof the shadow of gate 56

(09:20):
we get lost in distractions, andwe find ways to escape looking
at ourselves and dealing withreality. And for some people,
that is alcohol. For others,it's scrolling. For other
people, it's shopping online, and for others, it's eating.
There's so many ways that weescape ourselves or we try to
anyway. But fast forward to2019, and during my final weeks

(09:44):
of hypnosis training, weconducted a walking hypnosis
through the trees of the HudsonValley. And it was in the
session that I had just imaginedthis little girl, this little
me, as someone who had been.
Locked in a closet, and Iimagine just opening that door
for her and letting her out andand it was in that experience

(10:08):
where I had this deep grieving, you know, deep grieving for
like, 40 years of my life that Ihad felt heavy and
I realized that even thoughI had had that experience for so
long, and even though that wasmy own doing, of my own story,

(10:29):
that I could also change a storyin that moment, and I could
start to play and laugh and Livein joy, and I was just so deeply
healing in ways that I'll neverbe able to articulate.
But what I also realized in thedays and weeks and months that

(10:51):
came afterward is thatexperience of being my mother's
caretaker on those days when shewas suicidal and life was really
hard for her, and it was reallyhard to be in that energy with
her. It actually made me thedeeply attuned healer and coach
that I am today, where I can bewith someone in their deepest

(11:13):
moments, in their vulnerability, and also hold a space for them.
And this is a story that I nowknow
that's the frequency of gay 56it turns those painful years
into meaningful life, elevatingpurpose, and that's when life

(11:35):
really gets good.
So the frequency spectrum of gay56
so let's explore how this energycan actually play out in your
life, because frequency canevolve on the daily, and it's
really your awareness and yourdecision that makes the
difference. So you can be awareof where you are in the

(11:55):
frequency, and you can alsodecide to up level. So if you're
in the low frequency. Here's afew things that you should be
aware of. Number one, sharingfrom a place when you're still
swimming in the hurt, instead ofbeyond it. So I think we have
all seen this on social mediatime and time again, where
someone is sharing while they'rein the thick of it, and I

(12:16):
understand people want to feellike they are being supported by
others. The others can see weknow what they're going through,
or maybe it's a call out forhelp and and that's fine, but
also knowing that this gate isinviting you to really move
beyond that, to move beyond thathurt, to get the help you need

(12:37):
before you share the storynumber two, becoming easily
distracted or overstimulated asa way of escaping yourself. So
is it that you are constantlyscrolling? Is it that you are
just not paying attention towhere you are in life, in
reality? Is it that you'reignoring your finances and

(12:57):
you're still going out andtraveling and buying things and
without really facing what needsto be faced. Number three, are
you holding back your truth outof fear?
You know that feeling that youget when you swallow back what
you really wanted to share, oryou show up in that fake
perfectionism instead of yourrich humanity? So

(13:20):
I urge you to please, if youfeel it, if you've moved through
it, if you have guidance tooffer, please use your voice.
Number four, getting stuck inold victim narratives. So that's
the blaming, the shaming, theholding on to the lie that life
is supposed to be fair.
I can't tell you how many peopleget stuck in this idea that life

(13:44):
is supposed to be fair, andbecause it wasn't fair, they
can'tmove on. They can't become a
responsible adult.
It's quite amazing to me, of allthe different circumstances that
people are born into. Yetthere's still this idea that we
should all be born into equalcircumstances. It's just not the

(14:08):
reality of it. It's about beingin what you were born into,
right? And I think that's why somany of us appreciate those rags
to riches stories, because itgives us the hope that we can
move beyond the difficultcircumstances that we were born
into, number five, embellishingor manipulating stories to sell

(14:28):
more material emptiness. Soyou'll see a lot of
embellishment manipulating ofstories, especially with AI on
the move. And people can takevoices and video and manipulate
everything, and are they doingit for a political agenda? Are
they doing it to sell something?
Are they doing it just to getmore visibility on their posts?
It's getting kind of gross, isn't it, and it's something to

(14:52):
be aware of, especially as AIbecomes more involved in our day
to day. Yeah.
And the last point here escapinginto fantasy to avoid what's
real kind of like when you'rewatching those style reels, or
maybe I'm the only one who'swatching those style reels, or
the makeup reels, instead ofhaving a real conversation with

(15:15):
a partner who's also on theirphone and sitting on the
opposite end of the couch, right? So we are avoiding having
these relationships, these reallife IRL relationships, because
we're so involved in living inthe fantasy world or escaping
our reality, because there arehard things we need to talk

(15:35):
about.
High frequency. All right, let'smove into high frequency. Number
one, emotionally upliftingothers through your own story.
Number two, teaching throughmetaphor, lived experience and
humor. Yes, humor. I mean, weneed more laughter and love in

(15:56):
this world, so bring it on.
Number three, seeing beauty andmeaning and the unexpected. So
fun story, I randomly spottedNatalie Portman across the
street from my condo this week.
I this really deep desire to gooutside and take a little mini
walk. And as I was walking backhome, I see her in the distance

(16:20):
and like, oh my gosh, is thatNatalie Portman, so I climbed up
these stairs, and I turnedaround, and I looked and I
waited for her to walk by, andit was her, and she was talking
on the phone. I didn't catch thewords, but her bodyguard was
like a hawk looking at everyonethat was around to make sure
that we weren't filming her, that we weren't trying to

(16:40):
disturb her. It was just fun.
Number four, helping people seethe best in themselves, pointing
out what makes them special andinteresting in your eyes. Yes,
this gate, 56 is stories, andit's uplifting, and it's
experience and it's curiosity.
So can you get curious about thepeople in your life, and

(17:02):
sometimes just acknowledgingpeople can help them tell a new
story for themselves.
And the last one here knowingthe difference between
distraction like that, mindlessscrolling and enrichment, maybe
traveling, but because you wantto experience new cultures and a
new way of seeing the world, sojust noting the difference. All

(17:23):
right, so let's move on to theenergetic Tip of the Week.
The theme here is going to be,what's the story that's ready to
evolve? So this week, I'd likeyou to slow down and ask
yourself, what is the one storythat keeps holding me back?
And as I ask you that, I'm goingto give you a little moment here

(17:44):
to allow that story to rise.
So once you find it, I want youto ask yourself or journal it
out, or voice note itthe following questions. Number
one, if this was my hero'sjourney, what did this character
learn from going through thosehardships? So if you've watched
any movie, or if you understandthe hero's journey, you know

(18:07):
that we start off with a callingbecause there's a problem, and
then we move through the ups anddowns, right? Because that's
life, and then we resolvesomething, usually internally
and externally, but sometimesthe internal shift is the thing
that actually creates theexternal shift, and it's a lot
of the work that I do with myclientele is actually helping

(18:28):
them understand that we have tostart with the internal shift
first, because that allows theexternal to reflect that new
energy that now we're movingthrough life With, and it
creates a whole new set ofopportunities. And so the second
question I want you to askyourself is, what does this
character now own as asuperpower or tool? So after

(18:49):
you've gone through all of that, what did you take away? What is
the learning from all of this?
What is the learned, earnedwisdom. And number three, how
can I commit to owning thesuperpower or this tool? So like
in the story I shared with youearlier, a couple of the things

(19:10):
that came up for me were likeowning my joy and owning my
ability to be with the hardthings too, right? I have that
deeper capacity. So how do Icommit to those superpowers or
those tools now moving forward?
And that'll be a question thatyou can ask yourself, and I
wonder how all of these thingswill begin to change your life
in such miraculous ways.

(19:34):
All right, let's get visiblegate 56 content prompts. So I
want you to use this week'svisibility prompts for
storytelling that connects, converts and heals. So number
one, you don't need a perfectbeginning to share a powerful
ending. So the reminder here isto tell your audience that
sometimes the impact lives intheir process, their journey or

(19:57):
their experience, not that theyhad it all.
All figure it out at thebeginning, or that they had all
the systems worked out from dayone, because that's just not
reality. Number two,if your life feels like a plot
twist, you're probably the maincharacter. So this is an
opportunity to help your clientsor your audience reframe
uncertainty as an invitation toget curious, because when we

(20:20):
have curiosity, that's where thereal juiciness comes. That's
where we have so many lessonsthat we learn. Number three, the
secret to storytelling thatconnects is share the scar, not
the wound. So educate on thedifference between venting your
pain and offering a lesson or anew perspective. Number four,
hot take. All the distractedscrolling is killing

(20:44):
relationships. Now this might begreat if you're a relationship
coach or maybe you're atherapist, so shine a light on
the shadow of distraction, thenoffer way to interrupt the
pattern.
And number five, I used to thinkI needed a polished brand voice.
Turns out, I just needed to stopediting my truth. Now this could

(21:06):
be your opening line for asubset, post a note, a podcast
intro or your LinkedIn article.
And I have to tell you, thisreally is true for me. I found
that when I stopped trying toexamine what my brand voice is
supposed to sound like and juststarted being more me.
Then my brand voice camethrough, because it is just me.

(21:30):
Oh, my goodness, I just savedyou 1000s of dollars right
there. Okay, don't fight theenergy. Stay in flow. Thank you
for being here with me everytime you leave a little comment
a heart or share this forecastwith a friend, you actually help
