Between 1924 & 1950, Georgia Tann completely changed the game of adoption, placing thousands of children with families, even celebrities like Joan Crawford, June Allyson, & Rick Flair. However, the “Mother of Modern Adoption” used this reputation, along with the help of many powerful politicians, to kidnap over 5,000 children to be sold under the guise of adoption over the course of 26 years, though many didn’t make it out of the orphanage alive.
