This is Episode 3 of The Weekly Tank. In this episode, We’re diving into the 2025 Super Bowl - all the highs, the lows, the glamour, and the glory of what might be the most overhyped sporting event in the world.
In recent years, the NFL has faced criticism for favouritism - a problem not unique to American Football. The AFL has experienced similar issues, with concerns over certain teams, prioritising corporate interests over those of the fans, and a growing obsession with profit. The last few Super Bowls have been boring and predictable, with the Kansas City Chiefs dominating the league over the past five seasons. So you could be forgiven for thinking they’d have an easy game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
But this game was anything but predictable. Was it rigged? Did the NFL finally listen to fans who have long called out what they see as blatant favouritism towards the Chiefs? We’ll also look at Kendrick Lamar’s halftime show, the parade of celebrity spectators, Travis Kelce’s rough night (cue the tears?), Patrick Mahomes struggling to get going, the San Diego Chargers big move, Jalen Hurts’ domination, and everything else that makes the Super Bowl more than just a game.
