Extra! Extra! It's time for another edition of The Weekly Tank, and with it, another film review. This weeks review is "Jurassic World Rebirth", the seventh film in the "Jurassic Park" franchise. Directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp. Starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Mahershala Ali, Rupert Friend and Ed Skrein.
"Rebirth" takes place 5 years after the events of "Jurassic World Dominion", in a world where the public has lost interest in dinosaurs and due to changes in climate conditions have started to die off, except for some small pockets around the equator. The film follows a team led by Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson) on a mission to extract DNA from three massive dinosaur species to develop a treatment for heart disease. Where are these Dinosaurs? Well, that's the catch, they're located on a mysterious island near Barbados that is off limits and controlled by the Government.
Before looking at the new film, we will revisit the entire Jurassic franchise, ranking them from best to worst, exploring T-Rex VS Spinosaurus, looking at the problems with Jurassic Park III, weighing up the pros and cons of the Jurassic World Trilogy, appreciating the genius of Jurassic Park, unpacking the tropes and cliches within the franchise, questioning InGen's lack of security, discussing the damn infamous snickers wrapper and exposing Jurassic World Rebirth's biggest sins. Is the film a Rebirth, a Revival or a Repetition?
