The moment Bruce steps away from the microphone, Sunny seizes his chance to commandeer episode 122 of the Ugly Quacking Duck Podcast. What follows is a heartwarming blend of family banter, youthful entrepreneurship, and our signature look at global events through a small-town Midwestern lens.

Young Lily joins us with exciting news about "Slime & Shine," her upcoming business venture with friend Anna. The enthusiasm in her voice is palpable as she details their dollar store inspiration and plans to launch in October. We explore the fascinating journey of youth entrepreneurship, from spontaneous idea to careful business planning. There's something magical about witnessing the birth of a business dream through a child's eyes - complete with all the optimism and creativity that adults sometimes lose along the way.

Between discussions of restarting Lily's original podcast ("Everyone Being Human") and her upcoming WWE Raw event, we deliver our regular weather and earthquake reports. The contrast between our pleasant 70-degree Southern Illinois afternoon and Phoenix's scorching 102-degree heat provides perspective, while our earthquake update reveals a troubling increase to 2,116 seismic events worldwide this week.

The mood turns somber as we discuss Afghanistan's devastating earthquake that claimed over 2,200 lives despite being only magnitude 6.0. Through accessible explanation of how building materials and infrastructure quality impact earthquake outcomes, we help listeners understand global events without overwhelming them. Lily's innocent observation that "natural disasters shouldn't happen" captures the simple wisdom that often comes from young voices.

As we wrap up with updates on Hurricane Kiko and predictions for a turbulent Midwest winter, we're reminded why we podcast - to create moments of lightheartedness amid life's challenges and to build connections across generations. Duck Podcast.
And we are, well actually, I'mrecording.
I'm recording from the Midweststudio, our main hideout.
Bruce has kind of had to leave.

(00:29):
He set up the recording studioand then had to leave real
quickly.
He'll be back in a minute.
But I thought, hey, I'm goingto record while he's gone.
Maybe he won't catch me.
Anyhow, welcome aboard.
If you've not listened to ourpodcast before, then tell us.

(00:53):
Yeah.
We got an email, but I'll waittill Bruce gets back to tell
you.
But if you listened to usbefore, then you know how crazy
Bruce is.
He's kind of wild, but I keephim toned down.
You know, somebody has to.
I hope when you listen to this, you find enjoyment from the

(01:17):
podcast because we do it so youcan have a little bit of
lightheartedness in your life.
instead of all the negative.
So we try not to cover a lot ofnegativity.
And I'm here.
I'm sunny.
I bring that sunshine in.
There you go.

(01:38):
And he has an outline overhere.
He's written down kind of aguide for him.
And it says episode 122.
So we're on recording 122episode.
I know.

(01:59):
I'm kind of nervous.
That's why I'm giggling somuch.
But I'm about to get caught.
I think he's coming.
I hear him walking.
Oh no, the door's getting readyto open.

Speaker 01 (02:13):
What are you doing?
I can't leave for five minutesand you take over?
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 02 (02:21):
Now how did you know I was recording?

Speaker 01 (02:24):
Well, I seen the record button lit up.
It's pretty obvious.

Speaker 02 (02:30):
Oh, yeah.
Didn't think about that.

Speaker 01 (02:34):
Well, I hope you don't do that very often, and
I'll try not to leave everythinghooked up and take off and come
back.
But I just had to run, fix mesomething to drink, a little
snack, you know, get it ready togo before I sat down in front
of the microphone.
Didn't believe something.

(02:54):
Sonny would do that, but Iguess he did.

Speaker 02 (02:57):
Well, I didn't do much.
I just said, welcome, everybody, and I kind of did the
intro that you normally do, butthere you go.
I

Speaker 01 (03:11):
really can't get too mad at you, Sonny, because if
the roles were reversed, I'dprobably done the same thing, so
I won't pick on you today.
I hope you do a good job ofintroduction because I'll
probably leave it.
You know how much I hateediting.

Speaker 02 (03:31):
I was counting on that.
Yeah.
Well, I tried to do a reallygood job and really proactive
about the podcast.

Speaker 01 (03:43):
Well, I'll see how it sounds when we get back to
the editing part and we do thepost.
Up on the volume andeverything, we'll We'll hear it
and we'll go, ooh.
But knowing you, Sonny, it wasprobably pretty awesome.

Speaker 02 (04:05):
Wow, you actually said I was awesome.

Speaker 01 (04:10):
Well, Sonny, I'm not sure that is exactly right or
exactly what I was thinking.
But okay, I'll admit it.
Some days you're awesome.

Speaker 02 (04:21):
Well, I'm glad you finally admitted it.
Who's sitting over on thatother desk?

Speaker 01 (04:31):
That would be our new guest.
She snuck in just a second ago.
She's new, but she's not new.
She's new because she don'tcome very often.
She's back in school.
But everybody welcome Lily! Whoam I again?

Speaker 03 (04:53):
Lily! Yeah.
I'm back.
I'm

Speaker 02 (04:59):
back.
Hi, Lily.
Good to hear you.
Good to see you.
Good to be with you.

Speaker 03 (05:08):
Good to be here, too.

Speaker 01 (05:13):
Lily's on our new microphone.
Well, one of them.
She's on the pod mic.
We moved mics around again andI gave Sunny a different mic and
I put the pod mic over there onher desk.

Speaker 03 (05:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 01 (05:29):
So we'll have to see how she sounds today.
I

Speaker 03 (05:33):
hope I sound good.

Speaker 01 (05:35):
You sound good.
I

Speaker 03 (05:36):
sound good.

Speaker 01 (05:38):
Well, I hope so for the podcast sake.

Speaker 03 (05:41):
Me too.

Speaker 01 (05:42):
But I'm glad you back here.

Speaker 03 (05:44):
I'm glad I'm back.

Speaker 01 (05:45):
We're making plans to start a podcast.
No, not start.
What do you call that?
Restart your old podcast backup.

Speaker 03 (05:56):
Yep.

Speaker 01 (05:57):
I think it's still on Spotify.
I

Speaker 03 (05:59):
can look it up right now.

Speaker 01 (06:01):
I haven't looked in a long time.

Speaker 03 (06:03):
I will look it up.

Speaker 01 (06:04):
If it's not on there, we'll just have to redo
it.

Speaker 03 (06:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 01 (06:07):
I don't even know if your email is still available.

Speaker 03 (06:10):
My Bubbles Got Clouds one.

Speaker 01 (06:13):
What to see.

Speaker 03 (06:14):
Because that email account got hacked, so I had to
make a new

Speaker 01 (06:17):
one.

Speaker 03 (06:19):
Email account.

Speaker 01 (06:21):
Well, you didn't have that email

Speaker 03 (06:23):
account.
Oh, I didn't?

Speaker 01 (06:24):
No, that's one I signed up

Speaker 03 (06:26):
for you.
But

Speaker 01 (06:31):
while she's looking, we'll go ahead and say hello.
After that introduction bySunny, it's been an interesting
day.
We started...

Speaker 03 (06:43):
It's not on there anymore.

Speaker 01 (06:45):
It's not?

Speaker 03 (06:45):
It's not.

Speaker 01 (06:47):
Okay.
Well, we may have to just startall over.
I

Speaker 03 (06:50):
can look on Apple Podcasts.

Speaker 01 (06:52):
We may just have to rebrand it and start a whole
brand new one.

Speaker 03 (06:55):
We might.
We might have to.

Speaker 01 (06:58):
Sounds like a plan.
Sounds like

Speaker 03 (07:00):
a plan.

Speaker 01 (07:01):
So tune in.
Keep tuning in.
And maybe we will get thatgoing and we'll let everybody
know what's going on.
Yes.

Speaker 02 (07:13):
In the meantime, Bruce has something important to
say.

Speaker 01 (07:20):
I do.
Yes,

Speaker 03 (07:21):
you do.
I

Speaker 01 (07:22):
think Lily's wanting to talk to us a little bit.
We may do that.
All right, well, look that up,and we'll see if it's still
going.
I think she typed wrong.

Speaker 03 (07:36):
Yeah, guys, it's not everyone being human.
It's still on there.

Speaker 01 (07:42):
So it's on...

Speaker 03 (07:43):
The frog.
I still have the frog as mything.

Speaker 01 (07:47):
Well, that's cool.

Speaker 03 (07:50):
That's

Speaker 01 (07:51):
cute.
That must be where Sonny gotthe idea.
Is that where you got the idea,Sunny?

Speaker 02 (08:00):
Oh, you figured it out.
I wasn't going to tell nobody.

Speaker 01 (08:04):
That is cool.
That's where Sonny got thatidea.
Be a frog.

Speaker 03 (08:10):
My first day.
My very first time I everstarted a podcast was june 24th
2023

Speaker 01 (08:17):
so it's been over a year you got to get back to that
thing i

Speaker 03 (08:21):
had to get back i need to get

Speaker 01 (08:22):
back i wonder when your last episode was march

Speaker 03 (08:25):
22nd 2024 was my last episode

Speaker 01 (08:30):
now wait a minute you started june

Speaker 03 (08:32):
i started june 2023

Speaker 01 (08:33):
and then 23 okay

Speaker 03 (08:36):
yeah

Speaker 01 (08:37):
yeah we got to get back to that

Speaker 03 (08:39):
we

Speaker 01 (08:39):
do so it's been a year over a year since you did
an episode Yes.
We may have to rebrand it and,you know, think about it.
You was still in grade school, wasn't you?
I

Speaker 04 (08:51):
was still in fourth or fifth grade.

Speaker 01 (08:56):
Well, we'll have to look at rebranding it and, you
know.

Speaker 03 (09:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 01 (09:01):
You need to start shooting towards junior high and
high school kids.

Speaker 03 (09:06):
Oh.
Yeah.
I'll be in high school twoyears.

Speaker 01 (09:10):
Yeah.
So, yeah, there we go.
Freshman.
Yeah.
Do you remember when we firststarted the podcast and I asked
you to come over there to thegarage and help me out?
You said, I will.

Speaker 03 (09:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 01 (09:22):
And you did.
And it was great.

Speaker 03 (09:25):
That's actually where this picture came from.

Speaker 01 (09:28):
Well, yeah.
There's a lot of fun inpodcasting.
Sunny and I really enjoy it.
I mean, we're never probablygoing to make much money at it,
if any.
Well...
It would be nice to convertsome of these hardware and

(09:51):
software costs into...

Speaker 03 (09:53):
Mostly, I think YouTube will pay you for your
podcast.
It just has to be like you haveto have a certain amount of
followers.

Speaker 01 (09:59):
Yeah, they don't pay...

Speaker 03 (10:00):
Likes and stuff.
TikTok might pay you if youpost enough.
Yeah.

Speaker 01 (10:04):
Yeah, if you post enough.
If you

Speaker 03 (10:06):
post enough.

Speaker 01 (10:07):
Yeah, and if you get a great big following, you can
make a little bit of money, butit's not about the money.
It's about the hobby, aboutbeing able to make people laugh
or cry or whatever youranticipation of your podcast is.
But yeah, that's the plan.
So look forward to that to ourlisteners and all of our

(10:30):
community.
Yeah, maybe we can get thatgoing for Lily and She can be
back on the air.
That's what I like to call it.
Back to the radio times.
Back to the

Speaker 03 (10:41):
radio times.

Speaker 01 (10:43):
I did hear...
Wow, I just dropped my pencil.

Speaker 02 (10:53):
Yeah, he dropped his pencil.

Speaker 01 (10:58):
Anyway, always got to be a smart egg.

Speaker 03 (11:08):
Hi, hello, we're right here.

Speaker 01 (11:11):
Anyway, I heard that the IRS was doing some kind of,
I don't know, I don't even knowexactly how they determined
what they were doing.
What is the

Speaker 03 (11:27):
IRS?

Speaker 01 (11:28):
Internal Revenue Service.
Those are the ones that do yourtaxes.

Speaker 03 (11:32):
Oh, okay.

Speaker 01 (11:34):
Makes sense.
They were working, I don't knowwho they were working with, but
that they were working withsomebody to start a new program
where people like servers,dishwashers, chefs.

Speaker 03 (11:50):
Waiters, restaurant owners.

Speaker 01 (11:52):
No, not the owners.

Speaker 03 (11:53):
Oh, just the restaurant

Speaker 01 (11:55):
workers?
Just the workers, yeah.
I don't know if hairstylist wasin that list or not, but I
heard of the list.
But the main thing that caughtmy ear was digital creators.
And podcast people were listedin that.
Oh.
Was not going to have to paytaxes up to $25,000.

(12:17):
Well, that's good

Unknown (12:19):
because I'm not even willing to pay

Speaker 01 (12:20):
taxes.
Now, that hasn't passed yet.
Oh.
No.
And it's still being

Speaker 03 (12:25):
processed?

Speaker 01 (12:25):
Yeah.
It's still being talked aboutwhether they want to do it.
Good.
The old law was if you madeless than $500, you didn't even
have to claim it.

Speaker 03 (12:36):
Oh.

Speaker 01 (12:37):
But...
my fear is if that passes thenyou're going to have to claim
everything you make even if it'sfive cents then they're going
to know everything you're doingso it will be good in some ways
but bad in others

Speaker 03 (12:54):
speaking of business

Speaker 02 (12:58):
Yeah, speaking of business, well, let's hope we
make $25,000 and we will nothave to pay tax.

Speaker 03 (13:08):
I don't think we would make $25,000.
I don't

Speaker 01 (13:14):
either.
Wishes are

Speaker 03 (13:16):
wishes.

Speaker 01 (13:17):
We would be lucky if we make enough to pay for the
hosting, the webpage, and someof the equipment that we've
already invested in.
Yeah.
But when I got into podcasting,it wasn't for any of that.
It was to have fun.
And we hope we find listenersthat will join our community and

(13:40):
be part of the gang.
And that's what we're in itfor.

Speaker 03 (13:43):
The Scooby gang.

Speaker 01 (13:46):
Yeah, the ugly quacking duck gang.
So, anyhow, Lily actually hassomething she wants to talk
about.

Speaker 03 (13:56):
I do?

Speaker 01 (13:57):
Yes.
She has come up with an idea, and I think it's pretty cool.
Her and a friend is wanting todo something, and do you want to
tell us?

Speaker 03 (14:10):
We're happy to.

Speaker 01 (14:12):
All right.
Do you want to wait and see ifyou can get her on the phone?

Speaker 03 (14:16):
She's probably busy, but I can just tell you guys
right now.

Speaker 01 (14:19):
Okay.
You tell us right now, and wewill listen.
Wait a minute.
There you go.
There's a heartbeat.
I

Speaker 03 (14:32):
would rather take the drum rolls.

Speaker 01 (14:35):
Oh, I can do that too.

Speaker 03 (14:36):
Do that too?

Speaker 01 (14:40):
I can.

Speaker 03 (14:40):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 01 (14:41):
As soon as I find it.

Speaker 03 (14:43):
As soon as I find it.
That was funny.

Speaker 01 (14:52):
There you go.
Okay.
For our listeners and ourcommunity and any newcomers
that's come along, there's yourdrum roll and Lily, tell us
about your idea.

Speaker 03 (15:06):
Okay.
So, I'm going to tell you guyshow it all started.
Just like in all.
So, me and Anna, we went to thedollar store.
Bro.
I can't even talk anymore.
We went to the dollar store andwe got glue and like slime
products because we wanted tomake slime and while we were

(15:28):
making it my friend Anna made ajoke and she was like what if we
started a slime business andthen we looked at each other and
we were like we can do thatit's not that hard to do it
honestly it's just a little bitexpensive a little bit pricey
but after hours of figuring outtrying to figure out what kind

(15:49):
of website we can put it on whatour prices would be what our
name is we finally figured out aname and it's called slime and
shine and we are going to try tostart up in late or early
October but obviously if westart a little bit earlier I
will tell you any of you andit's going to be a slime brand

(16:15):
where we make slimes and we aregoing to be trying to get into
some craft fairs and it's gonnabe pretty big so slime business
slime business

Speaker 01 (16:30):
all right i just did a search while he's talking for
slime and shame

Speaker 03 (16:36):
shine

Speaker 01 (16:38):
yeah i typed it in wrong so i gotta go back and do
it but i want to make sure it'snot being used did you do a
search

Speaker 03 (16:45):
yes we did a search

Speaker 01 (16:46):
okay all right so it's probably safe to say you
can use it that's pretty cooland i agree it's not uh really
hard to do but it is expensive

Speaker 03 (16:58):
yes

Speaker 01 (16:58):
but to you guys out there in a listening land

Speaker 03 (17:03):
listening land

Speaker 01 (17:04):
listening land

Speaker 03 (17:05):
listening

Speaker 01 (17:06):
land yep she's going to do that and once she gets
her first shipment ready um i'llbe telling everybody about it
on here on the podcast and wewill be happy to share.
We might even put an order pageon our website to help her out.

Speaker 03 (17:26):
I got excited because I'm doing something this
month.

Speaker 01 (17:31):
Okay.
Well, I better do a littlehousekeeping while we're
recording.
I think Sonny, you probablycovered this under the
introduction while I was gone.
But I'm going to go ahead andDo it, repeat it if you have
already done it.

(17:51):
If you haven't, hey, firsttime.
But we are on episode 122, I dobelieve, and that means we're
recording.
Okay, I know, I sound just likeSonny when I do stupid things
like that, but maybe that'swhere he gets it.

(18:12):
I don't know.
But we are on episode 122.
We are recording.
It's 9-7-25, which is Sundayafternoon.
We started doing a little bitof this recording on Friday,
interrupted it with a pause, andwe're finishing up today.

(18:33):
That's how we got Lily aboard.
Yay! I'm glad Lily's able to bewith us.
And what that means, if you'rea new listener, please let us
know, because we are here foryou guys, not just us.
So email us attheuglyquackenduck at gmail.com

(18:54):
and let us know, hey, I was hereand I heard you.
If you're an old listener, dothe same thing.
Tell us you're still here.
We'd really appreciate that.
There you go.
That's our cleaning housemoment and we're back and we're
going to talk to Lily some more.

(19:14):
And Sonny, do you have anythingyou want to say?
I always have

Speaker 02 (19:19):
something to say, but no, not right now.
Good job, Bruce.

Speaker 01 (19:28):
Well, I'm glad you think so.
All right.
Let's see what Lily's got tosay.
Hey, Lily.

Speaker 03 (19:34):
Hi.

Speaker 01 (19:36):
Yeah.
Hi.
So we were talking about yourproject.
We talked about your oldpodcast, bringing it back to
life.
And I hope to do that.
I got some joy out of doingyour editing for you and
everything.
So hopefully we can do that, accomplish that this year.

(19:58):
Maybe.
Maybe.

Speaker 03 (20:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 01 (20:03):
And we talked a little bit about your project
that you and your friends got.
You're going to go together andbuild a little business.

Speaker 03 (20:12):
Friend.
It's only me and my friend.

Speaker 01 (20:15):
Yeah.
It's only two

Speaker 03 (20:16):
people.
Yes, we're going to build abusiness.

Speaker 01 (20:19):
Well, that's going to be nice.
I think that's great.
And you're going to build a webpage to sell it?

Speaker 03 (20:25):
Yes.

Speaker 01 (20:26):
All right.
So it's going to be the...
slime and shine business forLily and

Speaker 03 (20:32):
Anna.

Speaker 01 (20:34):
Is she going to go buy Anna or something else?
You better talk to her aboutthat before we start putting her
name on the podcast.

Speaker 03 (20:41):
She wants to go buy Anna.
I already asked her.

Speaker 01 (20:44):
All right.

Speaker 03 (20:44):
She likes Anna.

Speaker 01 (20:46):
All right.
That sounds pretty good.
I think that's an honorablething to try to accomplish.
And like I said, if you getyour stuff prepared and going, I
might list you on our web pageand that way you'll have a
little bit more advertising.

Speaker 03 (21:02):
That would be very nice.

Speaker 01 (21:04):
You get it going, we'll get you some advertising.
You'll get to come on here andtalk nothing but about your
business.

Speaker 03 (21:12):
I would love

Speaker 02 (21:12):
to.
Yeah, there you go.
Lily's business.
That sounds pretty cool.
I like it.

Speaker 03 (21:23):
Trust me.
I like it too.

(21:47):
I was going to go to Backlash.
And this month, I'm going to goto Raw, which is a...
It's not a big event like theother ones were.
It's just like a small event.

(22:08):
And I'm going to...
Three Mondays from now.
Three Mondays from now, I'mgoing.

Speaker 01 (22:17):
You caught me with a snack in my mouth.

Speaker 03 (22:22):
Caught me with a shock in my mouth.

Speaker 01 (22:25):
Well, that's interesting.
You still like wrestling, andyou're going, what?
When did you say again?

Speaker 03 (22:30):
Hold up.
I still like wrestling.
I've been like wrestling since2023.
I love that thing with my wholelife.

Speaker 01 (22:39):
All right.

Speaker 03 (22:40):
Anyway, I'm going the 22nd.

Speaker 01 (22:42):
Of this month?

Speaker 03 (22:43):
Of this month.

Speaker 01 (22:44):
All right.
Where's it at?

Speaker 03 (22:46):
Evansville.

Speaker 01 (22:47):
Oh, that's close.

Speaker 03 (22:48):
It is closer.

Speaker 01 (22:48):
That's going to be a lot of fun.
A lot

Speaker 03 (22:50):
of fun.

Speaker 01 (22:51):
Well, cool.

Speaker 03 (22:52):
I need some help here.

Speaker 01 (22:56):
Yes, you do.
No, no,

Speaker 03 (22:57):
like, not like, okay.
I have a disappointment comingup.

Speaker 02 (23:05):
What was that about?
Did you say

Speaker 03 (23:10):
dentist?
Yeah, I did.
It sucks.
You're lucky that you don'thave to go to that person every
six months to a year.

Speaker 02 (23:19):
Yeah.
There's a lot of things I don'thave to do, but we won't talk
about me.

Speaker 01 (23:25):
Yeah, let's not talk about you for now.
So you're going to the dentistagain.
I'm sorry.

Speaker 03 (23:34):
Yeah, and I was supposed to have some of my
teeth out.

Unknown (23:38):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 03 (23:39):
My silvers are still in, and I tried pulling them
out multiple times, and theywouldn't come out.
And I'm afraid that they'regoing to give me surgery to get
them taken out.
I don't want surgery.
I can ask them if I can try toget them out before I come back

(23:59):
the next time, which willprobably be the better bet.

Speaker 01 (24:04):
Yeah, I don't think they'll.
We'll see.
Who knows?

Speaker 03 (24:08):
I don't have a chip to.
Ow.

Speaker 01 (24:11):
Them get hurt.

Speaker 03 (24:13):
No.

Speaker 01 (24:13):
No?

Speaker 03 (24:14):
No.

Speaker 01 (24:15):
No?

Speaker 03 (24:15):
It's like chipped.

Speaker 01 (24:18):
Okay.
Well, moving on, we havechipped teeth to talk about.
But, hey, Sonny, where are webroadcasting or recording from?

Speaker 02 (24:32):
Why do you always say broadcast?

Speaker 01 (24:35):
Because it reminds me of radio.
Thank you.

Speaker 02 (24:39):
Okay.
Well, we're broadcasting orrecording in our studio in the
Midwest, Southern Illinois, outside of Mount Vernon.

Speaker 01 (24:53):
Okay, pinpoint us.
Yep.
So that means we need to talk alittle bit about the weather.
It's been beautiful.
It's like 73.
What is it there, Lily?
Do you have your weather up?

Speaker 03 (25:06):
I do.
It is 73.
But it feels like 74.

Speaker 01 (25:14):
Yay, the sun's shining.
It's beautiful.
It feels like an early fall.
It

Speaker 03 (25:20):
does feel like early fall.

Speaker 01 (25:21):
And that means we'll probably get hot weather again.
And yuck.

Speaker 03 (25:26):
And it is a full moon.

Speaker 01 (25:30):
Oh, I took a cool picture of the moon.

Speaker 03 (25:35):
It looked like an onion.

Speaker 01 (25:37):
You

Speaker 03 (25:39):
cannot tell me that that did not look like an onion.

Speaker 01 (25:42):
Yeah, my phone did something weird, and it made the
moon look really weird.
I'm going to have to post that.

Speaker 03 (25:50):
Yes, you need to.

Speaker 01 (25:53):
Yeah, it's been a really beautiful week here in
southern Illinois, and I thinkmost of the United States has
been getting a lot of that goodweather also.
I think we've got some changescoming, though.
However, let's look at Phoenix,Arizona as a comparison.

(26:17):
Right now, it's 100 degreesthere and sunny.
Ha, ha, ha, ha.
Yeah.
Actually, they show 102 if Ilook it up.
Nice.
Nice and hot.
That's egg cooking weather.
You can cook an egg on a rock.

Speaker 03 (26:40):
I would hate to live there.
I would be miserable.

Speaker 01 (26:44):
It possibly could be.

Speaker 03 (26:45):
It will.

Speaker 01 (26:46):
Right now, we're at 26% humidity, 5 mile an hour
winds, and our air quality is20%.
and phoenix which is 100degrees is 32 degrees or 32
percent humidity oops six milesan hour wind and 25 air quality

(27:10):
so we're even there and theyhave more humidity wow that's
amazing usually it's the otherway around

Speaker 03 (27:19):
yeah yeah it is

Speaker 01 (27:22):
well that's our local weather compared to
phoenix arizona and if you havea local weather you'd like to
give us to shout out email usand we will include that in our
quick weather talk

Speaker 02 (27:38):
All right.
So much for our local weather.
Yay.
You guys did a good job.
I'm proud of you.

Speaker 01 (27:47):
Oh, that is.
I don't even know how to takethat, but I'll take it.
But I think we got somethingelse to do, don't we, Sunny?

Speaker 02 (28:00):
Yep, we need to do the earthquake report.

Speaker 01 (28:04):
Yes, we do.
Let's do the earthquake report.

Speaker 02 (28:09):
Yay!

Speaker 01 (28:13):
All right, we're going to do an earthquake
report.
And if you first time tuned in,we just do our seven day report
for this year.
But we also have a report, seven day report for 2019 and
2018.
I used to read that, but ittook a long time to get all that

(28:36):
information on the podcast.
So I just started doing theregular seven day report.
And then what we do is post2019 and 2018 on the webpage so
if you're interested in ourearthquake report go to
theuglyquackingduck.com andyou'll see that and you

(28:59):
hopefully you'll enjoy lookingat that and you'll figure
something out but until thenlet's do the seven day report
for this week

Speaker 03 (29:11):
who said that

Speaker 01 (29:13):
I think I cut you out.

Speaker 03 (29:15):
Cut me out?

Speaker 01 (29:16):
Yeah.

Speaker 03 (29:17):
How?

Speaker 01 (29:19):
What were you saying?

Speaker 03 (29:21):
I said that it's the best website on the internet
right now.

Speaker 01 (29:26):
Oh, okay.
All right, we're starting fortoday, seven days back.
And all magnitudes, anybodywant to take a guess?

Speaker 03 (29:39):
I will.
I'm back to guessing, guys.

Speaker 02 (29:43):
I want to too, but go ahead, Lily.

Speaker 03 (29:46):
Yeah, I'm going first.
I always go first.

Unknown (29:52):
It's my turn.

Speaker 02 (29:52):
It's my turn now.
Party pooper.

Speaker 03 (29:53):
You're a pooper.
Go clean your poop pile.

Speaker 01 (30:01):
Okay.
What would you like to guess?

Speaker 03 (30:06):
What was last week's?

Speaker 01 (30:09):
Uh, you're going to make me look it up?

Speaker 03 (30:12):
Yes.

Speaker 01 (30:13):
Okay.
I am.
Last week's was...

Speaker 00 (30:23):
That was We Are Messengers.
Everything comes live.
This is your station for thehits positive.

Speaker 01 (30:28):
Wow.

Speaker 03 (30:31):
You need to keep that in there.

Speaker 01 (30:33):
I guess I can.
That was

Speaker 03 (30:35):
funny.

Speaker 01 (30:37):
Oh, that was, I'm not sure what that was, but
okay.

Speaker 03 (30:41):
Well, at first I thought it was my phone because
I'm watching cleaning TikTokstill and I didn't know if it
was mine.

Speaker 01 (30:46):
You're still watching TikToks while we talk.
Uh-huh.

Speaker 03 (30:51):
I was watching them clean.
It's sad.
That's fine.

Speaker 01 (30:54):
Uh-huh.

Speaker 03 (30:55):
I'm paying attention.

Speaker 01 (30:56):
Uh-huh.

Speaker 03 (30:57):
Guys.

Speaker 01 (30:58):
Last week on 9-1-25 was 1895.
1,895.
All magnitudes.

Speaker 03 (31:07):
1895?

Speaker 01 (31:08):
Yes.

Speaker 03 (31:09):
I'm writing that on my paper towel.
So, 1895.
Okay, last week's...
Okay.
So, I think it might have wentdown to 200, 200 and, 290, 284.

(31:36):
From 195 to 294?

Speaker 01 (31:44):
Yeah.
Okay.
Sunny, what did you guess?

Speaker 02 (31:52):
I think it went up, and I'm going to do a reversal.
1985.
That kind of sounds like lastnumber, or last week.

Speaker 01 (32:04):
All right, well, I hate to do this to you guys, but
it went way up.
2,116.
Yep.
2,000?
That's right.

Speaker 03 (32:22):
Well, Sunny, you cheated, so.

Speaker 02 (32:24):
No, I just guessed, but.

Speaker 03 (32:30):
Dang, that's what.

Speaker 01 (32:31):
All right, yeah.
It went up to 2,116.
And that's been close to whereit's been running, really.
And the 2.5 and overearthquakes was 334.
And the 4.5 earthquakes, 126.
And we had only one 6.0 andover for this week.

(32:57):
And I didn't understand thatbecause there was one at the end
of last week that Afghanistan.
But that gave us a Alaska.
Yeah, Alaska had one that was a6.0.
And that's the only one I seenfor this last week.

(33:23):
However, Afghanistan has beenhammered for the last week.
They had a significant.
Let me see if I can pull thisnews article up.
So I looked up the Afghanistanearthquake because I want to
talk a little bit about that.

(33:43):
You know, we always give thesix and over earthquakes, the
magnitude 6.0 and over, as ourmassive earthquake.
This week we only had one.
It was in Alaska.
However, the Afghanistanearthquake slipped through the

(34:04):
crack because it was at thebeginning of Sunday, and by the
time we did this report, it's inthe afternoon, so it's It had
dropped off.
If I'd done the report earlierin the morning, it would have
still been on there.
But anyway, it was only a 6.0,which a lot of people don't

(34:25):
understand why I report on them.
However, they had...
When the initial earthquakecame out, they had 800 people
that had been killed and 1,000injured after, or thousands
injured after that 6.0 magnitudeearthquake.

(34:47):
Then they reported again on the4th, and they are saying that,
this is the last report I gotfrom them, 2,205 deaths.
Okay.
from that earthquake andanother 3,640 people injured.

(35:07):
I

Speaker 03 (35:08):
feel like earthquakes shouldn't happen.

Speaker 01 (35:10):
They shouldn't.

Speaker 03 (35:11):
But I don't know.
I just think that naturaldisasters shouldn't happen.

Speaker 01 (35:18):
They've always been around, always.
But they're going to get worseand worse.
But I wanted to talk a littlebit about this because there are
so many people killed injured.
Afghanistan's had a lot ofearthquakes over the years.
And the people there, especially the people that are

(35:43):
not well off, they're poorpeople, a lot like us, that
don't have very good structuredhomes.
They're in mud and rock.

Speaker 03 (35:56):
And there's like vines growing on top of their
houses, like mold.

Speaker 01 (36:00):
Some They're in the desert.

Speaker 03 (36:03):
Oh, well, mold grows bad in the heat, too.

Speaker 01 (36:07):
But what happens is that rock and mortar and that
stuff they build their housesout of is not earthquake-proof
at all.
And they just collapse everytime there's an earthquake, and
a lot of people are injured.
And that's what happened thistime.
So like I've said before, itcan be a minor earthquake, but

(36:29):
if it hits the right location...
it can create havoc.
Yeah.
And this is a good example.
It could have been a lot biggerearthquake, but there was no
need for that because people gotinjured and killed anyway.
So anyway, keep them in yourprayers.

(36:52):
That's why we talked about.
That's why we keep talkingabout earthquakes.
There's, you know, other thingsgoing on.
In fact, there's a hurricanebuilding up.
I don't know where it was at.
It was heading for Hawaii lasttime I heard, but I haven't
checked on it in a few days, soI don't know if it's still going

(37:14):
that way or not.
But I hope you guys are keepingyour eyes open for the bad
weather and all theseearthquakes and stuff.
We're getting ready to headinto wintertime.
Yikes.
The last report I heard that ushere in the Midwest that
mid-central part of the UnitedStates is going to have a lot

(37:38):
more storms because we're goingto be fighting with the northern
part of the United States whohas a little bit below colder
weather and the southern statesthat are going to have a little
bit warmer winter.
You put that together in themiddle where we're at and it's
going to cause a lot ofturbulence.

(37:59):
That's what they're saying toFor airplanes?
Lookout.

Speaker 03 (38:05):
Lookout.

Speaker 01 (38:06):
Lookout.

Speaker 03 (38:06):
Lookout.

Speaker 01 (38:07):
Yeah.
All right.

Speaker 02 (38:11):
Say bye, guys.
It's been a long road.
I've been recording forever.

Speaker 01 (38:17):
Oh, you're just saying that because you started
it out.

Speaker 03 (38:22):
Actually, I'm proud of Sunny.
He hasn't talked that much thispodcast.

Speaker 01 (38:26):
No, he hasn't.
He's started with the podcast,so he's been quiet the rest of
the time.
I got one other thing I want todo real quick.

Speaker 03 (38:34):
He's a loud mouth sometimes.

Speaker 01 (38:37):
Yep.
I want to talk to Gemini.
Hello, Gemini.
Hey

Speaker 04 (38:43):
there.
What's going on?

Speaker 01 (38:45):
Oh, we're just ending our podcast, but I need
to ask you a question, if I may.

Speaker 04 (38:53):
Sure.
Fire away.
What's your question?

Speaker 01 (38:56):
Afghanistan had a earthquake last Sunday.
Do you have the last data onthe death toll and the injury
toll for that?
that earthquake.

Speaker 04 (39:14):
Unfortunately, the earthquake in Afghanistan was
devastating.
The latest reports indicatethat the death toll has risen to
over 2,200 and many more peoplehave been injured.
The situation is stillunfolding, and those numbers
might change.

Speaker 01 (39:29):
Well, that's what we needed to know.
I'm glad you was able to answerthat.
I do have another question foryou, if you don't mind.
Of course.
Okay, there is a hurricane...
I just read at the beginning ofthe week that it was heading
for Hawaii.

(39:51):
What is it about now?
Is it lower, higher infrequency?
Is it heading towards Hawaiistill?

Speaker 04 (40:03):
So Hurricane Kiko is heading towards Hawaii, but
it's expected to weaken to atropical storm before it gets
there.
It could still bring heavy rainand dangerous surf, so folks in
Hawaii are keeping a close eyeon it.

Speaker 01 (40:15):
Well, that's good news.
It's going to weaken.
That is real good news.
I really appreciate it.

Speaker 04 (40:24):
You're welcome.
Anything else I can help youwith today?

Speaker 01 (40:26):
Nope, that'll be it.
I really appreciate you puttingin a little bit of information
into our podcast, and we willtalk to you again soon.
